I'm a big fan of South Indian cuisine, which is difficult to find. I was happy to hear about Priya from an acquaintance of mine who sang is praises. I really had some hankering for a dosa, which Priya had a small variety of. I ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa. It was delicious and truly hit the spot. My girlfriend opted for the lunch buffet (much closer to traditional North Indian fare), which she enjoyed. I also ordered a salted lassi, which was quite tasty. It complemented the dosa well. Although the ambiance is pretty minimalist (there are just 7 tables squeezed into this tiny place, more like a hole-the-wall cafeteria), if you're looking for South Indian fare, in particular dosas, this is your place. I can't believe I haven't written an update about Priya! I first noticed them because they are one of very few places in the Sac area that I know has dosa on their menu. Ever since I left the bay and my favorite dosa spot, I've have craved a dosa. The warm crunchy flat bread with the thali and delightful potato filling. Mmmmm. The parking lot is a little tricky to find depending on what directions Google gives you. It's next to the TBell but doesn't share the parking lot. BUT-there is parking so it's a win if you're looking to dine in. The service is very kind and friendly. I have always been met with a smile. It feels like a small family run eatery, and the food really SHINES. I can see and hear the chef cooking in the back and my favorite thing is to sit and smell all of the wonderful spices as they make my order. I have dined in and enjoyed it. There is little to no ambience to speak of, but it's no frills space is perfect because I'm there to eat not care about "ambiance". It's a hole in the wall with GOOD food and that's what I care about. I've also done take out and the food travels pretty well. The dosa that I love isn't as crunchy compared to dining in (so definitely do that if you want the best experience for a dosa). But I am always happy to unwrap and make my dosa plate at home and enjoy every scrap of it. They had this aloo paratha that I decided to snack on in the car and WOW. It was a spicy kick in the pants but I'm into that and it was such a flavor bomb that I shoveled the whole thing in 15 mins on my drive back home. Oink! Needless to say, everything I've had (saag paneer, tandoori chicken, dal curry and aloo gobi, dosa) have been so good. They tend to lean spicy so if your tolerance is more mild definitely let them know so they can adjust it for you. And don't leave without one of their mango lassi! They make it fresh and I was lucky to have it made for me on my last trip there. Go support this wonderful Indian restaurant. I walked in to give this place a try after seeing their yelp reviews. I ordered The chicken tikka and goat curry as well as veggie samosa Everything was delicious. I like their take on the CTM, it had chopped onion pieces and that made it extra delicious ( I love onions) Their samosa are of a good size and quite tasty Their goat curry, I ate all and wished I had more lol. Mmmm The gentleman who waited on me was very friendly and gave me a few recommendations. The place has about 10 tables including 3 booths. The star of the show was the spicy sauce I asked for on the side. It's the best I've ever tried and I took some to go :) I will definitely come again when I am in the area for sure. I stumbled upon Priya Indian cuisine while I was in the Arden area, and decided to pick up some take away for the fam. The interior of the restaurant is small and extremely basic. It's one step above hole in the wall and definitely not necessarily an evening dining spot. I was greeted by an older gentleman who kept insisting that I had called in my order already, and I tried to explain that I had not placed an order yet and then I would like to see a menu. Eventually, a younger gentleman came out and said that he would be happy to help me with my to go order. After perusing the menu and asking a few questions, I placed my take away order for the four of us. Part of me was glad that I needed to sit and wait since the food is prepared per order, and that is always reassuring to know that someone's not just reheating something that was cooked earlier. When rang up my order, the prices were definitely higher than what were on the menu, and when I asked for clarification, he disappeared and never came back. I absolutely was miffed at being charged extra money for using my debit card without being told. The same charges applied to credit cards, etc. But there are no signs stating any of this. The food is definitely overpriced, and the quality and quantity is not there. Keep in mind that I ordered food that was supposed to be enough for four adults, and it was barely enough for two. The vegetable samosas which were recommended, or perfectly fried and definitely tasty. They have a nice spicy taste, but it's not overwhelming. That was pretty much the highlight of the meal. The garlic naan was absolutely disappointing. It's overpriced and they're just not enough. Again, I was ordering for four adults and ordered based on recommendations, but also what I was told. I ordered two of the garlic naan, which one I got home, was essentially half a piece for everyone. It tasted more like a tortilla than anything else. Very little garlic flavor. Very disappointing. The butter chicken sauce was tasty, but there was literally four chunks of chicken in the container which was fairly small anyway, and pretty much was a meal for one person. Maybe I should be glad that there such a small amount of chicken, because the chicken itself tasted like it had been boiled, and then dropped into the sauce. It lacked seasoning and flavor. There's no way that it was cooked with the butter sauce. The paneer was pretty much the same as the butter chicken. Mostly all sauce, and no cheese. The gentleman talked me into adding something that he described as a fried vegetable, and said it was absolutely a must try. It absolutely is a must don't do. It lacked flavor and was fairly underwhelming. There are definitely more reasonably priced and better tasting Indian cuisine restaurants in Sacramento. This just is not one of them. This place is overpriced, and definitely not worth it. read more

I'm a Bay Area native, living in this area since the beginning of the pandemic. We make the trip all the way from Roseville to enjoy these authentic Indian flavors since ethic offerings are extremely lacking in Placer County. The dining area is small, but I haven't had an issue getting a seat for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The service is friendly and welcoming, while the food is unlike anything else in the area. Parking is limited at first glance, but there's more in the back. I've been here twice in the last month, once to their Rancho Cordova location. This location's flavors and freshness are superior to Rancho's buffet offerings (which are more mild and still delish). I can handle a lot of heat, Medium is spot on but I'd like to try hot. Not bad! The service is good, ambiance nice, pricing fair, and the food is flavorful. More about cuisine: Aside from Lamb Curry, I'm always on the hunt for a good Lamb Korma. This spot, though with a mixture of northern and southern Indian dishes, had Lamb Kurma (associated with southern India and is a dish I don't often come across) so I thought I'd give it a try. It was rich! Only negative was that the meat itself, though still fine, tasted/felt kind of generic. I also prefer mint chutney more from scratch. Despite some of the above, still 8/10. Verrry rich flavors in their curry. Really nice spice level as well. Quick service, totally nailed the order. Hate to say it but a bit pricey! I know pretty much everything is these days but I was a bit blown away by the cost for what was provided. Portions size is where I felt the most let down. Very small amount of rice (maybe enough for one and a half people when we had three to feed). Naan bread had only a couple pieces and they were floppy, and the onion bhajii had a very large container with several pieces. Best Indian food around. The all you can eat buffet can't be beat; fresh and delicious with several dishes to choose from. Its about 25 minutes down the highway from us but, it's always such a treat, we try to make it out there at least twice a month. My favorite Indian restaurant comes to the area where I work. Really? The answer is "yes". I asked the gentleman there at the restaurant and confirmed they were the same restaurant. Priya Indian Cuisine in Rancho Cordova is one of my favorites. This is the new restaurant they opened in Arden-Arcade. Perfect for me! It is only a five-minute drive. This new location doesn't offer a lunch buffet like Rancho Cordova's. But their lunch specials at this location will come with three different curries, rice and naan. I like it better than the AYCE buffet. I ordered the Lunch Special with Curry Goat. It comes with two more veggie curries dishes, a good amount of rice, and the yummy naan. All the different curries taste great. The gentleman (maybe he is the owner) at the register is friendly. They have another young guy working in the kitchen. The dining room is much smaller than their original location. But this one is at the corner unit with all the ceiling-to-floor windows on two sides. The dining room is a lot brighter and has an open street view. The parking lot is small. But it looks safe and clean. I'm happy to see them open this new location. read more

This was our first time here and we have been looking for a good Indian Buffet. We found it! There about ten dishes to choose from and they were very delicious! Fresh Naan bread was served piping hot. The service is great and the host was gracious and kind. This restaurant may be small but the interior is clean and the seats are comfortable. While that might work for those without dietary restrictions, it results in very little variety for others; on the day I went, there were just two vegetarian entrees, creating the rare scenario where an Indian buffets doesn't include channa.
