We have been meaning to try this place for a while as I've passed it by multiple times and even seen their ads on social media, and finally made the trip. The place is spacious with a nice bar set-up and a lovely interior decor. We were seated immediately and got down to business. We ordered Samosas, Chicken Pakora, Paneer Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Regular and Garlic Basil Naan and a few Mango Lassis to help wash it all down. We got all dishes "Thali" style which includes basmati rice, vegetable curry of the day, and a naan bread for an extra $7. Everything came out quickly, tasty, and the serving sizes were generous, we definitely went home with leftovers. My personal favorites were the Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Pakora, and the Mango Lassi had the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. However, the end of our dinner ended on a slightly odd note. When the check arrived, our server informed us that cash was "appreciated" and with our bill of $101.13, we paid $120 in cash. Well, after about 10-15 minutes of waiting for our change and receipt, our server never came back to our table until we flagged him down to request it. Personally, it was odd that the receipt showed we "paid" the exact amount of $101.13 rather than the $120 we had provided. I'm guessing he assumed the remaining change was automatically the tip however that wasn't reflected on the check. It's the first time I've ever experienced anything like that, but alas, we would still like to come back here again as our experience was great before this whole check incident.
10/10 BEST INDIAN FOOD IN SACRAMENTO!! Amit recommended the Kashmiri Masala and the Chicken Biryani with Garlic Naan. It. Was. So. Good. The food was so hot it burned my mouth and the spice level was perfect! (Medium spice Kashmiri masala, spicy for biryani). Definitely had a ratatouille moment when I tried the stew with the naan and side of yogurt sauce he brought us. Will definitely be coming back here thank you so much!!
I absolutely love Bombay Darbar. I've ordered in and order take out multiple times and they never failed me. It's my favorite go to in the Grove by far. The food is delicious and great service and it always comes out on time. It's also a great scene too, once you're done eating, you can always walk around the Grove too.
I came here with a friend of mine for dinner after we had both driven by so many times without trying. The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful, they have a huge menu, full bar, and tons of seating. The service was great, the workers were very nice and attentive. The food was super tasty, came in generous portions, and cane out quickly.
I ate here on my Birthday for the first time, Amir gave us excellent service!! I have the vindaloo and tiki masala with a spinach goat cheese naan and it was my fav naan bread I've ever had!! Def will be back. And a cantaloupe martini that was sooo delish
Came here for a friend's birthday! Delicious food and drinks no notes! Likeee all of us cleared our plates. It's a super comfy vibe as well. But the excellent service is what really made the night. Our servers were so attentive and sweet! They even sang happy bday with us. We will def be back
This place really made my day. I haven't had good Indian food since I lived in Los Angeles, and I'm surprised by some of these reviews because the food here is so authentic and delicious!!! We got the chicken korma, butter chicken, the lamb kitchen special, coconut prawns, the basil garlic naan and the goat cheese naan were sooo goood. Just beware the goat cheese naan is a meal in itself! we also got the vegetable biryani. We had left overs but finished them for dinner that night. This place was great, and my server was so nice!
Can't believe I've never reviewed Bombay previously. We consider this restaurant our choice of Indian food across the board. We will literally drive across town from Elk Grove just to eat here. We typically order the same things regardless, which include. . . Veg Saag Alu Rice Garlic Basil Naan Vegetable Samosas The food is made correctly, deliciously, and quickly every time. The sauces are delicious as well. Pricing is fair for dining rates these days. Cocktails are delicious when we're in the mood for one. Parking is.... eh. It is Midtown. You have to kinda be very observant to find a good parking spot, but other than that.... We will return to Bombay over and over. Keep up the great work!!

This place used to be good, but apparently their takeout game is so strong they don't really care about the dine-in service to customers any longer. Case in point, we went here for dinner after work recently and were basically ignored. Multiple times we had to flag down the servers (for things like water and to place our order to begin with) because they were too busy lining up styrofoam takeout containers to come check on us. To make things worse, I asked if the veggie biriyani could be made vegan by leaving the dairy out, the server checked with the kitchen (who said yes), and we still ended up with biriyani smothered in butter and had chunks of paneer throughout. Inedible to me and a waste of money. The mushroom masala, which was also my usual go to was also different, and pretty greasy. New cook maybe? Either way, if a restaurant doesn't care about getting me sick then I don't care to return.
My husband and I finally tried this place after driving by it almost every day! It's much bigger than expected and when we walked in everyone was super nice and welcoming. We were sat really quickly since we came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It's really cute on the inside. They have table seating and a bar with a TV if you're coming alone. We ordered the combo appetizer plate, a basket of garlic naan, and split the butter chicken. It was more than enough food for the both of us as we had leftovers afterwards. Everything tasted delicious and had great flavor. My only complaint is I felt like there wasn't that much chicken in the butter chicken. I felt like I've had better chicken to sauce ratio at other places. They do prefer cash only and will remind you when they give you the bill but they still take card. It looks like they have pretty good lunch specials that run only Monday - Friday. I'd recommend stopping by!
We had the best time here this weekend! Our server Amit made our first experience here awesome. We had the butter chicken, tikka masala, samosas, and rice. 10/10. The restaurant was lively and we felt very welcomed. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone!

My husband and I finally tried this place after driving by it almost every day! It's much bigger than expected and when we walked in everyone was super nice and welcoming. We were sat really quickly since we came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It's really cute on the inside. They have table seating and a bar with a TV if you're coming alone. We've been to Bombay Grill twice and neither experience was good. They seem to do quite a bit of service with Door Dash with a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in and out. Because of that, they seem to prioritize the delivery services to the detriment of their dine in patrons. Both visits we indicated that one of us was vegan and specifically asked to make sure the items we ordered were indeed vegan. The server assured us they would insure that no dairy products would be included in the biriyani we ordered. However, when we got the biriyani we saw cubes which we thought were tofu, but turned out to be paneer. That kinda ruined the meal for us as well as any chance we would return again. I ordered butter chicken which didn't look or taste like butter chicken. I got garlic naan which seemed to be the only saving grace to our meal. read more

Absolutely loveeeeee this place. The staff are so kind and make you feel at home. Some of the best Indian food in Sac, I don't want to go anywhere else. The food and service is consistently good and reasonably priced. The mojitos are my fav as well. The veggie pakoras are a must try! They also have a bar you can dine at which is cool. read more

Great food, as always! The heat level on my rack of lamb was perfect. I wanted spicy and it certainly was. It was hot but not incapacitating. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is hip and lively. It's a wonderful place to have a Downtown dinner! read more

Thali dinner oh my! I heard about this place from a guy I was talking to who is vegetarian. I checked out the menu to assure myself that there would be meat, lol. My girlfriend and I went and had my favorite Thali dinner...lamb vindaloo. The meal and service were impeccable and we had a wonderful time. We ordered the rasmalai for dessert and it did not disappoint, I just wanted more of it. As I type this review I'm hoping I still have the pics, lol. I will return to try the eggplant, fish curry, and spinach dishes. My stomach ran out of real estate and I packed the remaining food to go. Most all of their entrees can be made thali. read more

Me and my beloved went to the Bombay Bar & Grill in Sacramento recently. Friendly service. Nice ambiance. Whole bar. Clearly marked vegan options. I got the vegan thali and enjoyed it. My beloved got the cauliflower and potatoes with a side of rice and roti. All in all a lovely choice and recommended if in Sacramento for some nourishing and tasty Indian cuisine. read more
I'm a fan of Indian food at Bombay is a decent option if you're in midtown. Punjabi grill (salmon and chicken): B+ Marinated salmon and chicken cooked in a tandoor. Good flavor of the marinade and you get some charred bits. I personally think the non curry dishes at Indian restaurants are underrated. This was quite tasty. Some may not like fish cooked this much though. Butter chicken: C+ It was okay but I've had better curry chicken elsewhere. This one tasted predominantly tomatoey than buttery. Clean interior, liked that they played Indian music videos. Service was efficient. Fair prices. 3.5 stars overall read more

Omg the flavors so damn good. I got the chicken tikka masala and my wife got the tandoori chicken. We got the regular Naan bread which was also very delicious and soft. It was like an explosion of flavors in my mouth highly recommend this place. Before we left we got the sweet drink mango lassi. read more
LOVE! the food, atmosphere and service. The vegetable samosas was delightful! The 2 sauces it came with is to die for. The Bombay lamb and chicken curry with the thali (2 veg sides, rice and naan) a must try. Now, the chicken tandoori is super moist, can sizzling hot and delicious. Don't forget to try the chicken biryani, plenty of chicken pieces, almost must try. Thank you for the wonderful experience, first time here. Dinner for 2, still plenty of leftover. read more
As promised, I'm updating the review from dining in rather than taking out, and the visit was unfortunately lackluster. Expecting the naan to have a better consistency in person, I was surprised that it was still stiff and thin. Parts of it snapped and crumbled, and in no way could be described as soft. Opting for the thali option to try more of their offerings, I have to say I was let down. The $7 upcharge was reasonable because it includes rice, naan, veggie curry, and daal. But the curry and the daal were both watery, overcooked, and lacking in flavor. Not only that, but while the coconut curry itself was nice, the shrimp had been in it for so long at high heat that they had curled completely and lost their tenderness. We also ordered a biryani, which wasn't like any biryani I had seen before. It came with a bowl of raita, which was nice because the dish proved to be too spicy for the kid, but the sauce to rice ratio made for an odd consistency - almost like a jambalaya. Again, not a fan of the flavor on this one, either. 2/3 of the staff were friendly. Easy to park across the street in the Chase lot on a Saturday evening. The tikka masala still hit the comfort food sweet spot, and it's nice that you can order a bowl of it on the side for $7. The portions seemed smaller when dining in than when picking up. So while it might be a hot take in contrast with the other reviews, it's hard for me to justify a return just for decent tikka masala. read more

No buffet
Does this place have gluten free options and also allow reservations for a party of 14?
Yelp reservation goes up to 6 ppl. But I'm sure if you call the restaurant ahead and ask for a group reservation of 14 they would probably accommodate. I've seen bigger family groups than 6 when I go.
