I have always enjoyed the food at Bombay which I've only gotten via Uber Eats. But this week I had a corporate event that another restaurant was supposed to cater and when they didn't give a final confirmation 24hrs before our event, I decided to call Bombay Bar and Grill. Amit answered the phone and that conversation ended my stress! Amit took the order I made with the other restaurant, gave me a quote and 15 hours later he was setting up our buffet for 40 people. So many times as customers we have to choose between the food we love and the customer service we want. At Bombay Bar and Grill you don't have to make that choice. Amit was a great partner and eased my stress and literally delivered in every way possible. Amit was so professional, warm and responsive to our every need when he fulfilled and delivered our delicious food. The butter chicken disappeared into thin air, the naan was super fresh, soft and warm. The chana and samosa were savory and hit the spot! Even the chai was hot with the best blend of spices! Bombay Grill absolutely delivered. The food was incredibly tasty, and the hot sauce was no joke, they were not kidding about the heat. But the best part was that it wasn't just spicy; it had amazing flavor. Our table loves spice, so we ended up finishing it and pouring it over pretty much everything. We had a mixed group at our table: a vegetarian, a pescatarian, and meat eaters and everyone walked away happy and impressed. It's rare to find a place where every dietary preference feels equally taken care of, but they nailed it. The service was just as great as the food. We have been meaning to try this place for a while as I've passed it by multiple times and even seen their ads on social media, and finally made the trip. The place is spacious with a nice bar set-up and a lovely interior decor. We were seated immediately and got down to business. We ordered Samosas, Chicken Pakora, Paneer Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Regular and Garlic Basil Naan and a few Mango Lassis to help wash it all down. We got all dishes "Thali" style which includes basmati rice, vegetable curry of the day, and a naan bread for an extra $7. Everything came out quickly, tasty, and the serving sizes were generous, we definitely went home with leftovers. My personal favorites were the Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Pakora, and the Mango Lassi had the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. However, the end of our dinner ended on a slightly odd note. When the check arrived, our server informed us that cash was "appreciated" and with our bill of $101.13, we paid $120 in cash. Well, after about 10-15 minutes of waiting for our change and receipt, our server never came back to our table until we flagged him down to request it. Personally, it was odd that the receipt showed we "paid" the exact amount of $101.13 rather than the $120 we had provided. I'm guessing he assumed the remaining change was automatically the tip however that wasn't reflected on the check. It's the first time I've ever experienced anything like that, but alas, we would still like to come back here again as our experience was great before this whole check incident. read more

This place really made my day. I haven't had good Indian food since I lived in Los Angeles, and I'm surprised by some of these reviews because the food here is so authentic and delicious!!! We got the chicken korma, butter chicken, the lamb kitchen special, coconut prawns, the basil garlic naan and the goat cheese naan were sooo goood. Located in Midtown Sac, this is a great little restaurant to get some good quality Indian favs. Nice interior and the service is always friendly. Their menu is pretty extensive with both vegetarian, vegan, and meat dishes. Check as you order regarding the "heat" levels, and make sure if you request "hot" you are ready for Hot spices. Their dinner menu dishes can be ordered a-la-carte, or as "thalia" which, for a few dollars more, gets you your main, plus some cooked veggies, rice and naan. We found this to be too much food for us as we ordered our typical 3 dishes, and the naan, which when you add the additional thalia veggies, and additional naan... well, let's say we took a lot home with us to enjoy the next day. Case in point, we went here for dinner after work recently and were basically ignored. Multiple times we had to flag down the servers (for things like water and to place our order to begin with) because they were too busy lining up styrofoam takeout containers to come check on us. To make things worse, I asked if the veggie biriyani could be made vegan by leaving the dairy out, the server checked with the kitchen (who said yes), and we still ended up with biriyani smothered in butter and had chunks of paneer throughout. My husband and I finally tried this place after driving by it almost every day! It's much bigger than expected and when we walked in everyone was super nice and welcoming. We were sat really quickly since we came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It's really cute on the inside. They have table seating and a bar with a TV if you're coming alone. We ordered the combo appetizer plate, a basket of garlic naan, and split the butter chicken. It was more than enough food for the both of us as we had leftovers afterwards. Everything tasted delicious and had great flavor. My only complaint is I felt like there wasn't that much chicken in the butter chicken. I felt like I've had better chicken to sauce ratio at other places. They do prefer cash only and will remind you when they give you the bill but they still take card. We've been to Bombay Grill twice and neither experience was good. They seem to do quite a bit of service with Door Dash with a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in and out. Because of that, they seem to prioritize the delivery services to the detriment of their dine in patrons. Both visits we indicated that one of us was vegan and specifically asked to make sure the items we ordered were indeed vegan. The server assured us they would insure that no dairy products would be included in the biriyani we ordered. However, when we got the biriyani we saw cubes which we thought were tofu, but turned out to be paneer. That kinda ruined the meal for us as well as any chance we would return again. I ordered butter chicken which didn't look or taste like butter chicken. I got garlic naan which seemed to be the only saving grace to our meal. read more

Overall, we didn't order enough food to evaluate it thoroughly so I'll have to try it again next time I'm in town and update it. I was waffling between a 3 or 4 star review, but it's definitely better than a 3. Still, if you're looking for good, solid Indian food, you can't go wrong here. FOOD: We only ordered three things - Paneer Tikka Masala, steamed basmati rice, and Fish Pakora. Two of those were good. The tikka masala was solid! The "gravy" was delicious and the paneer was good. They did give plenty of paneer too which is a big plus. The rice was good but not exceptional. It didn't have any spices to differentiate it and I was disappointed that we had to order it separately. The rice didn't come with the dish. But it was the Fish Pakora that disappointed me. It didn't have those sharp spices I'm used to with pakora and it was not crispy. SERVICE: Since we ordered it for delivery, I don't know about the staff, but the portions were plentiful and definitely packaged well. Everything arrived as it should. COST: Good overall. The rice was inexpensive and plentiful and the $16 for the tikka masala was very reasonable especially for the portion. Thali dinner oh my! I heard about this place from a guy I was talking to who is vegetarian. I checked out the menu to assure myself that there would be meat, lol. My girlfriend and I went and had my favorite Thali dinner...lamb vindaloo. The meal and service were impeccable and we had a wonderful time. Good flavor of the marinade and you get some charred bits. I personally think the non curry dishes at Indian restaurants are underrated. This was quite tasty. Some may not like fish cooked this much though. Butter chicken: C+ It was okay but I've had better curry chicken elsewhere. This one tasted predominantly tomatoey than buttery.
