    Garlic Naan
    Theodore L.

New spot near the Capitol. Was craving butter chicken and some naan bread. Instead I got their buffet special during lunch. Absolutely amazing. I got their delicious butter chicken along with their lamb and tandoori fish. All perfectly made and balanced. The surprise was their their fish tikka masala, so good. They served table side freshly made garlic naan and it was perfect. I enjoyed a few cups of their fresh chai, great to sip on after that meal. Ambiance was on point and excellent for a solo lunch break. Service was top notch. They are really attentive and work hard to make sure you enjoy your experience. They are very humble and treat customers well. Please stop by and enjoy yourself here.

I'm sorry.... I actually feel guilty leaving only a 2 star review, as the people running the restaurant were quite nice and attentive. This may have been easy due to me being the only patron in the restaurant, but I digress. The food was typical of an Indian lunch buffet. I was excited to try the chicken korma...and....it was....ok, I guess? Kind of like a cream sauce covered chicken tender/nugget. The Tikka masala chicken was not that flavorful, perhaps some more seasoning needed....but it was also cold, even though eaten right after leaving the steam tray. The goat pieces in the curry were almost all fat....so I couldn't eat it. Disappointed, as I like goat. The naan was fresh, so that was a bright spot. Now then, the price. For a not great buffet with a CAN of soda, I paid $26 before tip. I don't know if I am paying for the midtown location, but definitely not for the food. In Sacramento, Indian buffets are either hot or miss, and unfortunately, there are better ones throughout the region

I stopped by India Gate today in hopes of having some great Indian cuisine. Listen to me when I say this, I was not disappointed in my decision. I ordered the Palak Paneer with Naan bread. The food was seasoned to perfection served fresh and hot. For my spice level I ordered medium and let me caution you medium was pretty spicy! The staff is very welcoming so I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back. And as an added bonus for my wheelchair users, there is plenty of accessibility thanks again, India Gate

The weekday lunch buffet option pricing is still $19.99. But I suggest taking a peek at the buffet before choosing to dine to see if there is enough food left in the trays to make it worth it. I also look specifically to see if there is protein left in the curry dishes. The food is not bad at all. And I suppose the food is tame in the spice levels since it is a buffet. The flavors are there but maybe not the spicy heat. My faves are the veggie curry (nice bright flavor), butter chicken (traditional flavors) and fish pakora (fried with still keeping the fish moist). The basmati rice, spinach, Chana masala, veg samosas, veg pakora, green salad, tandoori chicken, kheer, and gulab jamun are everyday buffet offerings. Plus they have other dishes that may rotate. The chutney and tamarind dipping sauces are delicious. Zingy. Fresh hot naan is served straight to your table as part of the buffet. Since that takes time (not a lot but not in served with seconds either), it makes me slow down and not inhale my food so I can enjoy my meal with that yummy naan. It is crisp with that slight blistering top and puffy pillowy interior. The parking situation is all metered street parking. The interior is nothing fancy. The service is polite.

$20 for AYCE buffet -- run over! If you like endless amounts of chicken, this is gonna be your favorite place! They also give you endless naan: plain, butter or garlic. There are lots of standard curries and of course plentiful vegetarian options too. I was surprised to see a fried fish option even. My favorite hack is to glob lots of tikki masala sauce over the tandoori chicken! Check out my video and pics for all of their dishes. I was able to find parking within 2 blocks arriving on a Sunday around noon. There weren't too many people dining here. The ambiance is cozy and the service was super friendly. One thing to note is that their meat selection only offers chicken. I'm used to seeing other meats like goat or lamb. Overall this is a good deal for current state of economy.

They welcomed us in a bit early. While we waited for the buffet to start, the lady served us hot chai. It was delicious. When the buffet started, my husband and I ate a bit of everything. The served fish and vegetable pakora, veggie biriyani, goat and chicken curry, spinach and lentil entrees, dessert, salad....they had a good selection. It was all delicious. The tables and chair setting were cute...not crammed. They played nice music. The lady and gentleman were very friendly. The lady checked on us a few times. She was making sure we were well taken cared of. We will come back.

The Lamb Vindalu on rice with the Thali Combo

Stopped in at India Gate Cuisine for a very early dinner (coming from the East Coast). Since it was 4:00 P.M. I was one of the only people there, but the server took care of me answering my questions, and providing a hot meal quickly. I got the Lamb VindaluThali. It's the Lamb Vindalu with a lentil dip, a garbanzo bean dip, a yogurt dip, naan along with the Lamb Vindalu with rice. I also got the Spiced Salt Lassi which was different (it is milk with a salty yogurt mixed in). The Lassi was okay, but the Lamb Vindalu was very tasty. A nice place. I would try it again.

MY GOODNESS! I don't live in Sacramento but if I did this would be my go-to Indian spot. This unassuming tiny storefront is hiding one of the very best Indian buffets in the country. Such unique flavors. Even in staple dishes like butter chicken and naan you can tell their chef is working some magic back there. Buffet is a great mix of vegetarian and meat options. 10/10 place, hope to return again one day.

Buffet with extra free dish in side

Great place. Very welcoming staff. I had lunch buffet here and the food was excellent. I mentioned it to the staff that there is no paneer (cottage cheese) dish in the buffet which is quite normal food item, and they specially got me the paneer dish for free on side. The staff regularly checked and asked if I needed anything. JD the owner is very polite and hospitable. A must go Indian restaurant.

    Chicken Korma, Jeera rice

We were on a late evening walk and I was hangry when we stumbled upon this jewel of a place on Capital Avenue. What a happy surprise! The place was empty as we came in about 30 minutes before closing on a weekday. Staff still welcomed us warmly and gave us our menus. What an epic selection! To start, we tried two sides. Papdum is very thin wafers made from ground lentils. Wonderfully textured and served with hot mint and sweet tamarind sauces. We also had Paneer Pakora with house made cheese served with lemon and onions. Incredible! All of it. We went with the Chicken Korma to get some protein. My husband said it was the best version of it he's ever tasted! I have to agree. The chicken was so tender it melted in your mouth. We will lose sleep over the chicken! Bonus was their large selection of rices. Our choice was Jeera and it too was top notch and flavorful. Ambiance is a casual come as you are vibe. Nothing fancy. Just clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to trying out more dishes from India Gate Cuisine for sure. Note: Sorry about half eaten plate pictures. Like I said, I was hangry

So many times as customers we have to choose between the food we love and the customer service we want. At Bombay Bar and Grill you don't have to make that choice. Amit was a great partner and eased my stress and literally delivered in every way possible. Amit was so professional, warm and responsive to our every need when he fulfilled and delivered our delicious food. It's rare to find a place where every dietary preference feels equally taken care of, but they nailed it. The service was just as great as the food. Everyone we interacted with was welcoming, funny, and super helpful with recommendations. You could tell they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it made the whole experience even better. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who promptly took our drink order and then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu without feeling rushed. For appetizers, we chose the Nepali samosas, mushroom pakora, and goat cheese naan--every single one was delicious. I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala, but this time I decided to switch things up and try the Butter Chicken. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Paired with the garlic basil naan, it was perfection. A little piece of naan, a small scoop of basmati rice, and a drizzle of that rich, flavorful butter chicken was absolutely chef's kiss. The portions were generous, and I had plenty left over. Now I'm genuinely looking forward to lunch tomorrow so I can relive the experience all over again. The paintings were beautiful...and I caught myself looking at them for moments at a time. Now then...I'm working a lot of OT this week, and getting a cold. So, treat myself and help with a cold is two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The butter chicken tasted like lukewarm jarred sweet and sour sauce from a Chinese restaurant...no spice, but nothing resembling any butter chicken I've tried. The chicken curry was...salty...I guess, but not much other flavor. I literally was the first customer...and the samosas were not crispy at all....too soggy. Plate 2 wasn't much better. The goat curry was the most flavorable of anything, but not the best I've had. The tandoori chicken leg I had was borderline undercover. I NEEDED spice today, people ..kill this cold. While some of your patrons are Caucasian, we're American...not British. We like spice. For $24, I expect a buffet of much higher caliber.

Disappointed that there was only 10 very small pieces of cheese in the saag. Chicken seemed skimpy also. It rates second to my favorite Indian, Bombay Grill but best in Natomas area.
