After casually looking for nurseries throughout Fresno (with the looming comparison of the Berkeley horticultural center), I've always walked out missing something. After driving by and then reading reviews I knew I had to see this place for myself. I wandered around just looking for over an hour, periodically getting visits from resident puppers, and was very happy with what I saw. Consistent labeling (a big plus for a novice like me), large variety and very organized. After spending some time with the resident cat (who is adorable and parked in my lap for a while) I bought four plants (I had to reel it in, my "new discovery" hysteria is a dangerous thing) and chatted with the owner, Michael for a little bit. Great nursery and I definitely see myself returning for future plant needs. read more

In the owners Yelp description of this business, Mike, the owner says " His mission is to serve his retail customers with the best quality and selection of plant material and gardening accessories in the area." That's nice, but what about customer service. Its amazing what one bad encounter with a surly employee can do to what appears to be an otherwise nice venture. And I say "appears", because I never made it out of the parking lot. Here's the deal. Our garden is at a higher elevation, Monday we drove by this place by accident. Needing some supplies we turned in to check out it out. A table with tomatoes was displayed at the edge of the parking lot. My wife approached a woman employee, explained our situations and asked for advice on cold tolerant tomatoes. The answer was brief and curt, "they are all the same, when it gets cold just pull them out". Excuse me? My wife returned with this story, no choice but to hit the road with intentions to never return. In an area with several quality competitors I would want my employees to do better than that. Better than that, is what we received from a competitor on the way home. We received a cold tolerant variety of tomatoes, advice and hot caps. I've never seen a hot cap before but for 80¢ apiece how can I go wrong? Two stars, because for such a compact nursery it looked promising from the parking lot. read more

Came here looking for help to fill up a log I had carved out with the intention to put some succulents in it. They had a much larger selection of succulents than the other nurseries I had visited, but you do pay a price for them. Feel they where a little on the pricey side but the help I got filling my first log was worth it. They had everything I needed to put in it soil and plants. A lady was more than helpful in helping me decide what I wanted to put in there and suggestions in where they may look good at in my planter. Thanks a ton guys was a fun project. read more

My family came here looking for drought tolerant plants. I had researched online a few types that I was interested in, and they had them all in stock and the employee helped me find the two I couldn't find myself. I was very pleased with how clearly everything was labeled including the prices, and if the plants were water wise or not. All of the employees we spoke with were helpful and friendly. The prices seemed reasonable. They were very knowledgeable about their plants and gave me tips on the charities I bought and how to care for them. We were very happy with everything, we will go back when we decide to finish our transistion to all drought tolerant plants in our front yard. read more

My husband and I bought 6 plants on a Thursday, took them home and watered and planted them, by Tuesday 3 of the plants had died. I called and talked to a staff member and told her what happened, she was rude and then hung up on me. So I called back, the gentlemen who answered the phone the second time I called was the one who sold the plants to us. Well he talked to the own remember, the only thing he could do is give me 50% off the next plant that I buy. I am truly disappointed since we did not have the plants that long. I came here on a whim trying to look for seasonal plants. I couldn't find what I originally wanted, but did find a few varieties of salvias and California poppies. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable especially with all the range of microclimates that are located within northern California. Because of this, I would go back again. read more

This is a great place to go. It is abundant with flowers and plants to choose from. Prices are reasonable but could be better. But most of all, the staff are very helpful and friendly that would make the whole experience great. We always come back here and roam around until we can find something we like to buy in addition to our greenhouse. That mini ferries wheel for ornamental plants we are crazy about and would like to have one someday. Parking can be crazy at times when the place is flocked by costumers but that doesn't stop us from going to this establishment. Keep up the good work! read more

If you want plants, advice on plans, and to feel like the employees care about you - come here. Met Enrique when we first walked in the door and he was so helpful. Was looking for drought tolerant plants for a side yard and had little knowledge of what to do. Enrique and other staff spent over an hour with us and helped us select plants that fit our taste, sun exposure, and budget. They have a huge selection of plants (don't let the view from the outside fool you). They also have a great area in front where they have landscaped a variety of drought tolerant plants so you can see them mixed together and get ideas. Prices are competitive and the selection is fantastic. Won't be going anywhere else for landscaping needs. These guys are the best. read more

We come here often because they have the best succulent selection in town, friendly staff, and have always made shopping here a pleasant experience. The knowledge from the employees is priceless, bring them a picture or a sketch and they will help you design your dream! If you have a lot of questions, I'd recommend going in on a Sunday afternoon or during the winter when they aren't crazy busy as they get busy during the spring. My new favorite garden store! I made my first visit last week and I was really impressed. I spent quite a long time looking at everything they had. A lot of selections for plants and good variety as well. They have so many different succulents that I never see anywhere else. I'm really big on houseplants and they had a lot to offer. I had to restrain myself from going overboard, which you can easily do here. On top of that, their customer service is outstanding. I was always asked if I needed anything or if I'm doing okay. The woman working at the register was very knowledgable and educated me on particular plants. All the staff were incredibly friendly. I went on a non-busy day, but if it were a busy day then parking would be a hassle as their lot is very small. So keep that in mind. This place was pretty clean and had a great atmosphere. I highly recommend Evergreen Garden Center and I will definitely be back! read more

The nursery was rated highly for friendly, helpful service. I was the only customer, searching without success for several minutes. Nearby were two employees who didn't greet me or ask if I needed help. I had to ask for help asked but was given vague answers and pointed to not shown where I might find the items. When I couldn't find what I was looking for the second employee finally came over to say I wasn't in the right area and pointed to another area where I could look further. Neither employee bothered to help me find the specimen I wanted or offer another suggestion. Total indifference!! read more

August 9, 2014 - I'm in shock - I drove up Saturday morning and the gates were closed and I asked the guy sweeping inside what time will the gates opened and over his shoulder he hollered 9 o clock. I went back to my car and not having a watch or cell phone, I stepped out of my car and asked the guy - hey what time do you have? I thought if the gates were opening in a few minutes, I would wait. He turned around and pointed his finger at me and SCREAMED back at me "I'm going as fast as I can" - I asked him - is this how you treat a customer??? He SCREAMED - "go to Lowes" I was in disbelief!! I then asked are you the owner and he said yeah I'm the owner and you're not a customer! I felt PHYSICALLY THREATENED BY HIM. If there had not been a wire fence between us, I'm not sure what may have happened. His face was beet red and he was pointing his finger at me and screaming. I went there just wanting to buy a plant - and drove away ABSOLUTELY APPALLED. I'm a little lady and not confrontational at all. This experience was a nightmare at 9 a.m. in the morning. read more

This is my FAVORITE nursery in Fresno/Clovis. They have a wonderful selection of plants, excellent and informative signage, and best of all they have people available to help you!!! As soon as you pull into the parking lot you will see at least two employees who are readily available. And the owner who runs the register inside their shop is also an excellent source of help. read more
