I liked the Octopus Ink Baltic Porter. There is a 3.5% add-on charge for paying with a card. If there is a crowd, the food may take a little while. I went with the full Reuben sandwich and the order of jalapeno poppers. Both were good.

There is often a food truck, so if you don't mind that kind of setup there is at least food available across the lot. No servers or bussers as far as I noticed, so you get your own stuff and clean up after. Also no bar, just beer and wine. And I have had Seven Seas beers many times, and haven't really found one I would go back for. Lots of people love their beer, I'm not saying it's bad! Just not for me. Service is minimal at best. In the times I have been there, it's been one beertender, no service at your table and service at the bar has been less than great. Not particularly friendly, just .... there. If you've never been, I'd recommend checking it out for the experience. But the Tides is also right there and in my opinion such a better experience. Also parking is VERY limited, so you may have to park a block or two away.

THE SHORT OF IT: - If you like ciders and/or pinball, this…read moreis your place. THE INSIDE: - Abour 6 barstools overlook the sunken pit area where pinball lives. I haven't seen the usual setup, but I'm assuming there's usually tables and chairs in the middle. THE FOOD: - Kitchen is currently closed, but outside food is more than welcome. Snack foods (chips, peanuts, similar) available at register. THE CIDERS: - I had a flight and they were all amazing. Standouts were: vanilla bean (sweet but not too sweet; light, refreshing, true vanilla flavor) and dark maple (not saccharine sweet; just on the edge with a dryness and truly outstanding flavor... dangerously delicious). - I kept expecting all of them to be overly sweet; but they all kept surprising me. Watermelon was another favorite. SERVICE: - Quick and kind with a smile. You'll love the vibes. SIDE NOTES: - We traveled from the Seattle area as Locust Cider had the Winchester Mystery House pinball machine on loan for the weekend. Only 500 were made, and this is currently the only one in the state. Your next closest is Next Level Museum in Oregon if you want to play this extraordinary machine. It's worth it! - We came on a salsa lesson night, so most pinball machines were blocked by tables. That's alright because 7 were unblocked and provided plenty of entertainment while the salsa lessons happened. - I think pinball with salsa music blaring in the background is the new best way while sipping delicious ciders is the new best way to enjoy everything.

I'm kicking myself for not going to Locust before my last day in Gig Harbor! It's hidden away…read morebehind the Gig Harbor Inn. First of all, the property is huge with various areas to hang out in. There's an indoor space downstairs, and upstairs space with a bar and video games, uncovered and covered outdoor patio areas with equipment for live musicians, and a little forested enclave with seating and a fireplace. Beyond their awesome ambiance, their ciders were all varied and delicious. They have 26 taps to choose from. We tried a bunch of their 4oz pours. My favorites turned out to be (surprisingly) their seasonal Chai and their Honey Pear, but each one that I tasted was unique and flavorful. I felt the intentionality in each one. They have a full food menu that includes gluten free tater tots and chicken nuggets. Service was awesome, by the way. Two of the kegs we wanted to try had blown, so the bartender brought us a few extra pours for having to wait. I'm super bummed that I never made it back for a second visit. I implore you to try this place if you haven't!

They've even added coffee to the menu. Service is always friendly (maybe because I know most of the staff). Heritage has been my go to for grabbing a cocktail and showing the Harbor to guests. Sadly, it's all ending. Heritage has announced the closure of all tasting rooms 12/31/2025. If you want to try them, time's running out! Make sure you have a chance to stop in before it's all gone.

The Gig Harbor location closes at the end of December ( of 2025). We were over in Gig Harbor this past weekend to see a friend and were actually surprised to to see this tasting room still open. We knew that Heritage has closed many tasting room locations already and just assumed that the Gig Harbor location closed some time ago. But nope, they are still around for a few more weeks. We got some spirits here. I got some miniature bottles of vodka and whiskey and Steve got a spirit that has an amazing Earl Grey flavor so we definitely had a nice purchasing "Hurrah" here before this location closes. Despite all tasting rooms closing Heritage Distilling will still exist as it is going to a production only operation.
