    BUILD YOUR OWN WARM BOWL
    Kristen N.

Evergreens is a very basic salad/bowl restaurant and I appreciate that they let you mark that you want your bowl to be Vegan. Some of us were missing our dressings and nobody received the bread they ordered. We ordered delivery during a busy lunch period which may have something to do with the quality.

I've ordered salads from here multiple times before via food delivery, but this is the first time I've come to order in-person. It was a very quick step-by-step process of choosing which ingredients you'd want included in your salad. I built my own salad and loved the toppings that were available. The dijon balsamic dressing never fails me. Overall, I came out with a very hearty salad that kept me full for a whole meal. The bread was also tasty, not too dry and not too heavy.

The customer service here is terrible. I even offered to speak to a manager prior to writing this review to understand what I was able to do differently as a customer to receive better service and I never received a call even though I knew that there was nothing I could do to fix what seems to be poor management, basic people skills and poor communication. They charge almost $20 bucks for a salad, which is amazing btw but they have no clue as to what please and thank you do for customers. Unfortunately, it's the times we're living in but when I asked to contact higher management to discuss the poor service which so many people in our city complain about with this place, the store manager looked at me as she saw a ghost and seemed like she had never heard feedback in her entire life. I then asked for the customer service information for corporate and the number that I was given was invalid which the manager stated was their customer service line. I wrote the email in the car as I ate my salad then decided to go back in and ask if the email was correct and requested the manager again and one of the employees went to the back to get her and she stated that she went home....which was ironic based on the face that I watched her walk back into the store as I drafted the email. I then went back to my car to search for a corporate number to contact and 5 minutes later the manager runs out of the store to her vehicle.......Strangest customer service I've EVER experienced to say the least!! So.....If you want a salad and NOTHING more, put on a pair of headphones, walk in and try your luck. That seems as good as it's going to get here!

I placed my order through Yelp, which redirects customers to DoorDash for fulfillment. Unfortunately, there was no option to specify the spice level for the paneer masala side dish, despite the restaurant description highlighting customizable spice levels as part of its offering. Because I have health-related dietary concerns, I called the restaurant immediately after placing the order to request a mild spice level. The staff member who answered was initially unable to locate my order, even after I spelled out the name multiple times, which significantly delayed the process. My husband later called and was able to get someone to find the order, but when I called back again to confirm the mild spice request, I was told it was too late to make any changes. I also had an earlier issue when I accidentally went to the wrong location and called for assistance. Rather than providing the Bellevue location's direct number or helping redirect me, I was placed on hold multiple times, which added to the inconvenience. While the food itself was excellent, the customer service and ordering experience were disappointing. Since the Yelp/ DoorDash ordering flow does not allow customers to specify spice preferences for certain items, I expected more flexibility and consideration when I called immediately after placing the order with a reasonable health-related request.

Prices are also cheaper here than the food truck setup in South Lake Union. Extremely disappointed. I posted the above earlier at 3-stars, but I was too hasty posting before getting our food, expecting that even though the menu changed, the quality wouldn't. Sadly the bagel sandwiches aren't nearly stuffed to what they used to be and even the orange juice had extra pulp. My biggest complaint is still that there were no indicators in the store until we were trying to order. It is so frustrating to try to pivot when we're standing in front of the cashier with drinks in hand just trying to be on our way.

The one that I like the most was the pork cutlets, even if it was cold it was good. The savory options were not too sweet which I liked. Not a huge fan on the salmon tho. The only issue I had was definitely the portion, it was small. It seems big in the photo and display but the one you get it small. It's in the basement of a hotel, but it doesn't feel like it at all. The guests there are lucky to have a solid dining spot without having to leave. Service was great from everybody from start to finish. Very personable and funny - I forget our waiter's name but he was great! We started off with the Pork Lumpia and those were delicious. They were also huge! We each only had one (it comes with three) and that was enough for us. For my main, I got the Huli Huli Chicken. Great portion and it was sooo good. The chicken was tender and exactly the flavor I was expecting! The tuna mac salad on the side was BOMB. I could've had way more than the serving they gave, I think that's my only complaint! Had a total party size of two. We even added our names, but when we got led to our seats, we were put at the barstools. There were plenty of other parties of two that arrived after us that got tables plus there were some empty tables for two that we saw as well. So we requested a table instead of the bar area, but the server told us the manager didn't want us sitting there. Didn't make much sense when there were empty tables. Maybe they had some reasoning or structure for weekend crowds they they had to follow, not sure, but we had to stay seated at the bar area. We ordered a Margherita pizza to split as well as a slice of carrot cake as I've heard a lot of good things about these items. The pizza had really fresh ingredients and the sauce and tomatoes were tasty, however the dough was incredibly salty and made it difficult to eat. This was my first time at Deru Market, but I assume it isn't always this salty and could have been a one-time thing. The slice of carrot cake was pretty expensive (around $14) but it's huge and good to split amongst 2-3 people. I liked the generous serving of nuts and shredded carrot inside. Cream cheese frosting was still a bit too sweet for me (think I prefer Deep Sea Sugar and Salt's to this) and I had to remove most of it, but the cake was overall pretty good though a little on the dry side. I get why this place is popular, but I don't think I had the best first time experience here. With the high number of positive reviews though, maybe they were just having a bad day since it was a Saturday and pretty crowded, so I'm hoping to come back again in the future, during like a seasonal special if they have any.
