Pasifika has been on my radar for a minute now. Planned a lunch to meet up with a friend and we had been meaning to try the new Tukwila location, but Bellevue worked out better for that particular day. The space is huge! It's in the basement of a hotel, but it doesn't feel like it at all. The guests there are lucky to have a solid dining spot without having to leave. Service was great from everybody from start to finish. Very personable and funny - I forget our waiter's name but he was great! We started off with the Pork Lumpia and those were delicious. They were also huge! We each only had one (it comes with three) and that was enough for us. For my main, I got the Huli Huli Chicken. Great portion and it was sooo good. The chicken was tender and exactly the flavor I was expecting! The tuna mac salad on the side was BOMB. I could've had way more than the serving they gave, I think that's my only complaint! Overall this was a great first experience and I can't wait to try more of the menu. Will definitely be checking out the Tukwila location next as that's closer to me. read more

I always dig in when my food comes and I always forget to take the pictures! Menu options are great and they offer a happy hour menu with food and drinks. Poke nachos (available but not listed in menu) rather than the Kalua pig nachos is my go to, and the pork belly bites are sooooo good! Can't go wrong with their kalbi short ribs or their steak moco. They provide live entertainment on some days (check for weekends) at both their Bellevue and Tukwila locations. Came here randomly for brunch because it was one of a couple places that had reservations (for a brunch type food)! Tried the avocado toast, loco moco, and roasted eggplant dip. I think all the dishes flavor wise were excellent! But. The avocado toast was 100% not a toast, it was a flatbread, and the avocado was...maybe creamed with something? It didn't taste like just avocado. The flatbread was still soft, which meant picking up a slice was all the stuff falling off of it. The roasted eggplant was a favorite, but I think that one was too liquidy somehow, while still being too piecey, so it was a little hard to eat as well. I would expect it to "cling" better maybe? Finally the loco moco was great. No notes for that one haha. Prices weren't bad, so I might come back! I wish there were more vegetable options on the brunch menu, but it is what it is. read more

4 star but really, I might be leaning towards a 3.5 star. We went for lunch on a week day. There was only one other table seated. We decided on our food quickly, but it took a while for it to arrive. Think "island time" which for us, it was okay since we were both off today. But keep this in mind if you are in a rush during your lunch hour. Food: We ordered the Mochiko Chicken, Huli Huli chicken, and island fried rice. Our favorite was Mochiko chicken for sure. We both agreed that it was the best dish, and definitely would go back just for that! The Huli Huli chicken was good, but lukewarm at best when it arrived. My husband likes his food piping hot and so he was disappointed in that. It was like teriyaki chicken with a thicker sauce. It was fine. The Island Fried rice was good, but also nothing to rave about. Seemed like a simple fried rice (not Chinese style fried rice tho) with fried egg, slice of spam, and slice of Portuguese sausage. Fine, nothing great. The server running the bar also was our waiter, he was really kind and patient. He also gave us some recommendations with the Mochiko chicken, he recommended that with would be tossed in something. It was good, but not sure if I needed that? Yummy, but I think I'll try it plain for better judgment next time! The waiter also suggested we come on a Friday or Saturday night for live band! And we will definitely want to come back for that :) Space: really open, cute space. The entrance area had a bit of a sticky bar feel, but other than that, clean. My friend and I dined at Pasifika Grill and Bar for lunch, and the food was delicious. So glad there's Pacific Islander food in Bellevue, which is not easily found thus is hard to come by. This is a gem in the area, but it's not for those in a rush. Pasifika Grill and Bar is located on the lower level of Hotel 116 in the Wilburton neighborhood of Bellevue. Hotel restaurants aren't always the best spots, and its predecessor, which was also a bar, didn't last for long. But Pasifika is much-needed in the area. My friend and I visited during our lunch break on a Wednesday and fortunately, we weren't in a rush because the service was on the slower side as there was only one server for the entire restaurant. But at least we knew the food was cooked fresh, which was obvious when we got our plates because we had to wait for it to cool down. I ordered the zesty coco beef, which is a coconut curry with tons of lemon and was sour with tender pieces of beef and rice. I really enjoyed the meal as it was comforting and delicious. I highly recommend trying! My friend ordered the beef kelaguen, which she enjoyed, but said the lumpia was mid. Happy hour review: I went here during happy hour which is a bit challenging normally since it is Monday to Friday 2-5:30pm, right around most people working 9-5. But because it was the day after Christmas, it was easy for us to go on Friday around 4pm and surprisingly despite being holidays, it was not busy at all. We walked in immediately and were seated at a 2-top. The prices for happy hour are really really good - most items are $6-10 or more off so we saved almost 50% off. A bottle of house wine is $12 which is almost unheard of in Seattle restaurants. I can't even get decent wine for that low at a winery or most grocery stores, and that price is less than a lot of cocktails in bars. Happy hour food is at most $10 and they are regularly sized. We got the following to try - Old Fashioned Passion ($9) - really solid take of classic old fashioned with a tropical twist. It is a bit sweet but it is still a strong drink - Local Girl drink ($8) - really easy to drink, fizzy. At first glance I thought it was a mocktail - Pork lumpia ($6) - 3 pieces with dipping sauce. Decent start for food - Kalua nachos ($10) - lots of wonton chips and a decent amount of Kalua pork and cream. I recommend consuming immediately as it gets cold fast - Pork belly bites ($10) - very hearty, good fat to meat ratio. Perfect source of protein and fairly high quality - Ota w/ taro chips ($10) - raw fish with taro chips. Fairly fresh, love the combination. Extremely good value since you can't find good ceviche at this price point anywhere nearby - Pani popo ($9) - baked bread with condensed milk and macadamia nuts. This rating is SOLELY for the Steak Moco. 5 Stars. Absolutely a surprise excellent meal. Been here a few times and the other meals were not bad but didn't prompt for a review just yet. Opening the box, it wasn't impressive looking, but underneath there is a good amount of steak! And it wasn't thin low quality steak either. WIN. The gravy was unique and mixed well with the rice, steak, eggs. The mac salad with tuna was not skimpy either. All in all, fully validate and appreciate the Steak Moco as 5 stars, for $29. I've been been to Pasifika for dinner and for lunch. I have to say dinner experience was preferred. For dinner, the 3 of us ordered two appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. Good vibes with tasty mix of Hawaiian and Guamanian food. Favorites included the kalbi ribs, mochiko chicken, pork belly bites and homemade carrot cake. The place was hopping on a Saturday night and there was live music. Plenty of friendly staff on hand to help out. The lunch experience was a little more subdued. The garlic shishito chicken wings were crispy, but could've used a little more flavor. The musubi sampler was good, but the Portuguese sausage was on the unexpected spicy side. I really wanted to like this place. The vibe and music were perfect, and the service was friendly and attentive. We had already eaten dinner but decided to stop by and try a few appetizers while we were in the area. We ordered the empanada, lumpia, and wings with shishito peppers. The empanada was a bit bland, and it seemed like there was sweet basil mixed in, which gave it an unusual, mint-like aftertaste that felt out of place for this dish. The lumpia was also on the bland side, and the wings were oily and lacking flavor. All that said, there aren't many pacific island restaurants around -- so I genuinely want this place to succeed. I've heard great things about their main dishes, so we'll definitely come back and give those a try. The atmosphere and service make me want to return, and I'm hopeful the entrées will shine more. The good - the kalbi was outstanding, loved it so much. The really disappointing was that I asked for hot sauce on a to go order and they charged me $5.18 without telling me. I noticed this after I paid, thinking how could two entrees possibly cost $80? I get you have to pay for good food but if someone asks for hot sauce, I would expect to be told it costs something and it's really expensive. I couldn't find it on the menu either so I want to believe they wouldn't charge in the restaurant. Hulu Hulu chicken was mid at best, decent flavor, too chewy for me. Instead of 3 stars this could have been a 4 or 5 star experience. Highlights: both appetizers were very good. Crispy chicken wings with the mango BBQ sauce were delicious. The poke was fresh and well plated with nicely made taro chips. The Hulu chicken was really appreciated. Low lights start with service. We clearly ordered appetizers to share then entrees. Out came both appetizers and 3 of the 4 entrées - all at once. Very disappointing. Then the 4th entree, the green papaya salad with shrimp came out almost 20 minutes later. Also disappointing. When we finished our food we ordered the carrot cake dessert. The server cleared half of our dishes and left. He came back with the dessert and started to leave. We had to ask him to clear the rest of the dishes. Other low lights included the papaya salad. Tasty, but as I ate it I kept coughing. I moved some of ingredients around to see the salad was sitting in a deep pool of vinegary dressing. I tried to let the dressing drip off each bite, but I couldn't finish it. Other food notes: the person who ordered the short ribs would have enjoyed them more if they were less salty. No one was crazy about the tuna in the mac salad. We had mixed feelings about the carrot cake. Very rich, it almost seemed more like a confection than a cake. We might have liked it more with vanilla ice cream instead of the very sweet sauce. Went here with a couple friends on a Saturday for lunch. We had a reservation but didn't need one. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it totally shouldn't be! Would recommend visiting soon because I know this place is going to go viral at some point and then you won't be able to get in We ordered a spam musubi to share with the table, and my partner and I ordered fish n' chips & steak moco. The musubis (it's an assortment of four types: classic spam musubi, katsu spam musubi, shrimp tempura musubi, and Portuguese sausage musubi) were excellent, and I typically don't enjoy musubi too much because either the rice or meat end up swallowing up the whole flavor. Here, the musubi definitely struck the right balance, which was awesome. My favorite was the katsu musubi, but all of them were great! Steak moco was excellent, with the steak being super tender and easy to chew (I ordered mine medium), and the loco moco sauce was light & not too creamy or salty (an issue I often have with loco moco). It blended perfectly with the runny yolk from the egg, and there also wasn't too much rice. Would definitely recommend! Fish & chips were also great, although I wouldn't say the fish necessarily stood out. The fries were awesome though, with a perfect and unique seasoning (somewhat reminiscent of furikake, but with an island twist, and a little lighter), and excellent crisp/crunch. Would definitely recommend getting a dish with fries here if you like fries! Pani popo is probably the most popular dessert here and it definitely does not disappoint! I am not a big fan of caramel but the fluffiness and softness of the bread along with the coconut flavor definitely made this dish stand out. My friend who typically does not rave about food popped off about this dish and ate 2.5 of the breads LOL. So definitely recommend! Finally, our waiter was super friendly, attentive, and helpful! this was our second time at Pasifika, and this time we came for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday who grew up in Hawaii, so it was the perfect spot. I made a reservation for 7PM on a Saturday, which happens to be prime time with live island music and a full house. the place was packed. we started with the musubi platter, a perfect shareable plate for the three of us, and the chamorro empanadas -- hands down, the best empanadas I've ever had. the achiote wrapper had amazing flavor with just the right amount of spice and onion, and the creamy chicken/rice chalakiles-style filling was rich without being heavy. def ordering that again. my husband had the fiesta plate from the seasonal menu, so good. the tuna mac salad completely changed my opinion on mac salad. the tuna cuts through the mayo's richness in the best way. the red rice was perfectly seasoned, and the shoyu chicken was slow-cooked and falling off the bone. honestly, this dish needs to be on the regular menu. it's a perfect intro to chamorro bbq for anyone new to the cuisine. our friend ordered the salmon plate, which was beautifully cooked. the salmon paired perfectly with the creamy sauce, and the succotash and fried sweet potatoes on the side made for a really well-rounded dish. service was understandably a bit slow given how busy it was, but the staff was kind and the atmosphere made it worth the wait. it was definitely hot and a bit stuffy inside so if the weather allows, I'd recommend opting for patio seating for a more comfortable experience. Island local food brought me back home to Hawaii. Aloha and friendly atmosphere. 7 of us Celebrated a girlfriends birthday. They gave her a Chee Hoo shout out and a complimentary bday cake. Service and the restaurant environment were nice, but food quality was low, and everything was overpriced 1.sapa sui: couldn't taste any ginger broth, and everything was overpowered by heavy grease and salt 2. Pork laulau and taro: it's okay. I personally didn't like the pork flavor combined with the sour-ish leaves and the sweetness from the coconut cream, but it might be a personal preference thing. However, the rice was mushy and watery due to improper cooking techniques. 3. Zesty coco beef: beef was overcooked and hard to chew. Great place that would probably be fun on a Friday or Saturday night pretty big spot with a nice sized bar. It's right next to the park coffee attached to the hotel. I stopped in for early dinner and got empanadas and a NY strip. The empanadas were great just piping hot so don't be foolish and burn the hell out of your mouth. But man they are worth the early bite. The steak was cooked just how I like and properly seasoned. The veggies and potatoes were very good as well. Mix them all and you get a perfect bite. There's plenty of other things I'll be trying on the menu when I come back. Gonna have to see what a weekend night is like when I do try it again. read more

First the service is what you would expect walking into any islander's home - welcoming, greeted with big smiles, it's like giving your heart a big, warm islander hug! But, let's be real, we're here not only for the service, but food and drinks that flow like waterfalls! We love, love love the steak moco. Here's an insider tip, it almost didn't make the regular menu cut, but we're glad it did! They'll cook it to your desired doneness - and why would anyone go beyond medium rare on a steak needs to get checked?! The shiitake gravy adds the right amount of savoriness and it's topped with a nice, runny yolk sunny-side up egg. I'm drooling thinking of this dish! Add some hot sauce (tabasco is my choice) just to spice it up a bit! Or ask for their Rota denanche if you want your butthole on fire the next day! Also, they have some seasonal items on the menu, recently they've added the Special Fiesta Plate - an homage to fiestas on Guam and the Marianas islands, it has all you'd find at one of those island fiestas. We've also been here for brunch and let's just say 100% order the Macadamia Nut pancakes, with Pani Popo sauce on the side, and be ready to share! It's a HUGE plate of pancakes!!! And I'm always a sucker for corned beef, so that's my usual. I have yet to try the Island fried rice, but my buddy loved it, so it's on the list! This place was new to us so we were excited to try it out. The place is located near chick fila and woods coffee in Bellevue. Service is nice, our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. However, I think they were a little short staff because food took a while to come and we had to flag someone to order our food. Food wise, it was slightly above average: We got 2 lunch combo, which comes with rice, Mac salad / regular salad, and 2 protein of choice from the menu. We ended up getting all the meat options to try. Kaluai pork: earthy, not too salty, good. Mochiko chicken: good flavor and texture Huli huli chicken: bland, not as tender Crispy pork belly: the skin does stick to your teeth, but it was crispy for the most part. - just okay, may be better for drinks - This place has been on the yelp "hot and new" list for a while, but I hesitated to go thinking it might be too oily. We eventually went there as Paik's noodle was closed on Tuesdays and we just had pho from Phoever recently. The restaurant is located at the basement of the hotel, so you gotta walk downstairs upon entering the hotel. The sign was confusing as it was noon but they made it seem like the restaurant is only open for dinner, and the express is only open during lunch time. The express for ordering takeout was closed, so we checked with the bartender at the restaurant and it was open. There were two other groups dining there at the time, and the bartender seems quite busy. There was another waitress, but she only got us our dishes but did nothing else. The bartender got us iced water and I ordered huli huli chicken for $19 and hubby got the loko moko with sunny egg for $18. The dishes came after 10 minutes and my huli huli chicken tastes somewhat like teriyaki chicken, but with a hint of smoky flavor. Loco moko is a safe dish and I didn't find it to be special either. They were renovating the space so the restaurant is half hipster (bar) and half plastic wrapped. There seems to be live music for certain nights, and the decor is definitely more modern than most restaurants. While I enjoyed the food, the small tables we were using was metal and a bit shaky. I think it would be nicer to sit elsewhere since my water was never filled even though we sat super close to the bar (the bartender was the only one that seems to be working at that time). I also wasn't a fan of the Mac salad even though it's standard for Hawaiian cuisines... I just prefer more veggie as I felt a bit heavy/too stuffed after my meal. PS. I was told this place was very good and I guess I had high expectations for this place. Anyways it's was busy being they had a retirement party at the restaurant and a birthday party upstairs. They had live music from Irae Pagofie downstairs. The food was mediocre. We ordered stuffed mussels, empanada, and panipopo for pupus. The star of the show was the burger, it had the right amount of juiciness to the burger and the Portuguese sausages and sunny side egg was the perfect combination to complement the rest. What really made our experience over the top was the staff. They took the time to have an interest in our day and our visit to Washington from San Francisco. The owner, Angie, even stopped by and thanked us for coming in and my boyfriend and her talked a bit about being islanders. The whole place was so welcoming from the people to the music to the decorations. This is our new must stop spot when we are in the area. How I have never been here before, I have no clue, especially considering how it's my mission to try all Hawaiian food spots. Located in Bellevue in Hotel 116 and next to Woods coffee, it's a great spot to eat for hotel guests and others as well. The decor is very on-theme as well as the island music, but the stand out thing was the menu. They have lots of favorites of mine and a good blend of Chamorro and Hawaiian food at pretty standard pricing considering it is in a hotel in Bellevue. That being said, and after some contemplation, our party decided on the pork lumpia, saimin, huli huli chicken and salmon plate. Everyone said they enjoyed their dishes, and my saimin was not what I'm typically used to but good nonetheless. Not to mention there was a ton of stuff in it besides the noodles, like spam, charsui, egg, fish cake. What was also different for me was the tuna mac salad; it was ok but I think I'll stick to the regular mac salad. Altogether a tasty experience with good portion sizes and great service. I may have stumbled upon a hidden gem. It's called Pasifika Grill & Bar in Bellevue. It's in a hotel on 116th near the Chick-fil-A. It's traditional Chamorro food. I don't know what that is, but it certainly was delicious and I'll be reading more later about its origins. This restaurant is listed as Guamanian, and I had my first taste of this cuisine last summer at a popular Seattle eatery called familyfriend. Read my review on Yelp. Not sure how long Pasifika has been open, but I plan to return. Here's a place I don't mind seeing Tiki Torches. Cool-looking bar and friendly staff. I want to party with them! We went during happy hour, which starts at 2 p.m. (thank you) and there is supposedly a 15% discount during that time. You'll have to doublecheck on that because I honestly forgot. There is ample parking and an elevator down to the restaurant. The food though. I honestly went there because the corn soup at familyfriend was one of the best things I'd ever put in my mouth, and I wanted to relive that without having to drive all the way to Beacon Hill from Bellevue. So, we had to have the corn soup. Absolutely delightful. I could have just stopped there. Is it as good as familyfriend? No, but it is absolutely fabulous. I'd come here just for that. But we had a couple of other dishes - the Taconada Trio and the Kalbi Short Ribs. Both knockout dishes! The short ribs came with something called tuna mac salad which sounded sus, but we tasted it and it was totally yummy. I'd like a cup of that with my corn soup please. It's a lot of food so it's probably best with a group where you can order a number of dishes and share. There is a section on the menu called Shareables. That's my recommendation. Don't sleep on Pasifika if you're on the eastside or live in the city and want an eastside adventure. read more

I have been excited to visit on my next trip to WA. So was excited this past trip, I could. The food was delish! Traditional Chamorro food with a fancy atmosphere. My favorite was the empanadas. Located in a hotel basement with a free parking lot. Super friendly happy and funny staff. Oxtail soup- was so excited to see this on the menu. The oxtail was perfectly cooked- falls off the bone but the broth was super salty. Chicken wrap was tasty but not something I would crave and want to order again. I was invited to experience Pasifika Grill & Bar last weekend and was treated to such a warm and delightful experience, from the delicious food and cocktails, wonderful staff, live music (on weekends), pacific islands inspired decor, and a great location inside hotel 116! For food, I tried their loco moco, tinak'tak, carrot cake, and pani popo. For drinks, I tried the tropical paradise, passion fruit martini, and espresso martini. Everything was SO. SO. GOOD! If none of these things have convinced you to come get a little taste of Pasifika yet, then you have to come meet co-owner Angie, who is an absolute doll and such a hospitable host! She made the experience especially memorable, as did everyone I interacted with, like their waiters and bartender, who seriously hooked us up when they found out it was a birthday celebration. Definitely not a fan of this place. I'm only giving it a three star for the ambiance. I like the island style atmosphere and the local music playing other than that. It would've been two star venue. The food is not good and the service was all right not to mention that everything is overpriced. The loco moco was flavorful, but the rice was kind of mushy. I did not like the gravy tasted kind of weird to me. Also, the mochiko chicken was mainly breading and very salty. I did not like the kimchi that they added on top of the rice. Their island breakfast was served warm, not fresh and hot. It was Portuguese sausage, eggs, and rice. Their guava mimosas were pretty good, but definitely on the expensive side for the amount you get. Lastly their Mac salad is disgusting. It was very starchy and the tuna is overpowering. read more
