After a long drive to my nephews birthday party, I needed something sustainable for lunch and in mood for something healthy as well. Since so many new spots been popping up on the eastside, it was kinda fun to see whats near and quick to grab a bite to eat. This mall was packed...! even after the holiday season, so if you can strategize parking on the fly as you drive in, you should be fine ;) When I walked in, there was hardly a line but a couple in front of me & some people dining along the windows. Theres no signage but start the opposite end of the cash registers to go through a line similar to Chipotle or Panda Express. After several of us lined up, some of the staff came out to get our orders. They have a lot of great choices which I had difficulty narrowing down but ended up with the Chicken Pesto Parm. So good! I appreciated the overall variety of flavor, like the sauteed seasoned broccoli as well as the heated up quinoa and amount of parm, pesto, & hot sauce added so much to what would be 'just' a salad. The side of sourdough bread was great addition as well.

Got this yesterday for lunch at work with the team. Honestly a shocker as to how good the food was! The portion was great for building your own. My colleague it picked up, said service was friendly and quick. The expected time was 12:20 but everything came out faster. You can include 10 toppings which increase the price by .50 cents to 2-4 dollars for the premium options. Highly recommend their herb quinoa and sweet potatoes with the blackened chicken. For 17 bucks and a loaded healthy bowl this spot is a new favorite for work.

I wish there was a Sweetgreen closer to me! But at least there's one on the eastside, specifically here in Kirkland where I can get some wholesome goodness that's always solid at Sweetgreen. Sweetgreen may also be one of those places of nostalgia for me because I used to eat at the Capitol Hill location when I was working in D.C., so would walk here on lunch breaks. So when I learned it was expanding to Washington state, I was happy, especially since Kirkland isn't far from where I live. The food features healthy salads and protein bowls that you can build your own or order one of their creations. This Kirkland one is located in the Totem Lake Village, which is bright and has outdoor seating. They also have chilled refreshments in the fridge for takeout and I love that they use compostable items for the food here. I've had a few items here, but my favorite is the chicken avocado protein bowl, which is filling and delicious. I love that they use fresh produce and wholesome ingredients, so when you eat here, you don't feel like crap! You feel nourished. I'll be eating here whenever I'm in the Totem Lake area.

I think the only negative thing to say about this place is the price point is pretty high. Especially if we are putting it into context that it is a price for a salad. With that out of the way, I went at lunch time on a weekday and it was busy. The line was almost to the door and I debated skipping out. But I waited and the line actually moved pretty fast. I ended up trying the hot honey chicken protein bowl and it was surprisingly good. I like the convenience of eating healthy and I can understand that would be the hype for why others eat here too. The food quality matched the high price but the portions were a little low IMO. I wanted to try the fries but they didn't have them and now that I know how things work I think I would have added more slaw to the standard portions of the bowl I got. I definitely will be eating here again but not going out of my way to do so.

Website says 34g of protein. 90g of steak is like 23g of protein.

20 dollar can get you 90 gram of steak. I used to love this place. Now you need to be a millionaire to dine here.

Truly healthy but satisfying bowls that are well balanced with veg, protein, sauce, and crunch - not "just" a salad and loaded with flavor. IMO well worth the price. Service was quick and the location is very convenient around all the other shops at Totem Lake.

food tasted super fresh & very healthy based ! some of the best salads i have ever had, with many options to make your own, as well as have something pre-decided for you. there's not only salads bur warms bowls as well for people who'd prefer grain over salad, or even just getting sweet potatoes or avocado oil based fries ! there's something for everyone here no matter dietary restrictions, or what you may like. staff was very kind & considerate, answered all questions, & took time to do so especially while making my order, making sure it was up to my liking. the atmosphere was very relaxed, the place was clean, but careful on visiting because sometimes the lines are out the door ! sometimes it makes it hard to find seating due to the limited indoor & outdoor seating of this location overall recommend !

Ordered online and picked up my bowl conveniently on the side shelf. This was my first time trying Sweetgreen and I enjoyed it! Definitely not as filling compared to other bowl places like Chipotle but it's more veggie packed. I really liked the miso sauce as well. I'll definitely be coming back and you should try if in the area too!!

    Chicken ceasar wrap. Perfect.

Had to try after hearing from friends about this place. Healthy & delicious. No seed oil, only 4 ingredients in the tortilla wrap. Enjoyed the chicken ceasar wrap. Drizzled the dressing on it, was perfect. I enjoy large portion meals so this was filling but didn't me feel sick. Next try will be the KBB wrap. Staff was friendly and helpful as it was my first time there.

My go to order! (Vegetarians I highly recommend you try it out!)

My absolute favorite salad place ever! There's so many varieties and combinations that you can make when you make your own bowl their pre-arranged bowls are great as well if you don't wanna have to choose everything. As a vegetarian, I love that there are so many different sources of protein and I don't always have to stick with just tofu. My go to order is spring mix with quinoa and the tofu and sweet potato for my proteins. Then I go with the chickpeas, broccoli and cucumbers for my toppings then I say heavy on the green goddess salad dressing and ask for chili flakes on top I used to get Parm on it as well but I couldn't justify paying that much just to have a little bit of cheese added on top so now I just take the salad home and add my own Parmesan. Honestly when you say heavy on the salad dressing you don't necessarily even have to have cheese so mostly I just eat it without it. The service is pretty fast and the line moves pretty fast even if there is a longer line and the place is cute and clean enough for you to sit and enjoy the salad over there.

We got the lemon poppyseed cake and it was the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen (photos don't do it justice, it was bigger than our heads!) - it was a bit too sweet for my liking but the savory dishes were really delicious. I would love to try other items on their menu. We got seated at the outside bar table. Our servers were sweet and friendly. Parking lot in front with limited spots. Come early because it gets busy!

Had a total party size of two. We even added our names, but when we got led to our seats, we were put at the barstools. There were plenty of other parties of two that arrived after us that got tables plus there were some empty tables for two that we saw as well. So we requested a table instead of the bar area, but the server told us the manager didn't want us sitting there. Didn't make much sense when there were empty tables. Maybe they had some reasoning or structure for weekend crowds they they had to follow, not sure, but we had to stay seated at the bar area. We ordered a Margherita pizza to split as well as a slice of carrot cake as I've heard a lot of good things about these items. The pizza had really fresh ingredients and the sauce and tomatoes were tasty, however the dough was incredibly salty and made it difficult to eat. This was my first time at Deru Market, but I assume it isn't always this salty and could have been a one-time thing. The slice of carrot cake was pretty expensive (around $14) but it's huge and good to split amongst 2-3 people. I liked the generous serving of nuts and shredded carrot inside. Cream cheese frosting was still a bit too sweet for me (think I prefer Deep Sea Sugar and Salt's to this) and I had to remove most of it, but the cake was overall pretty good though a little on the dry side. I get why this place is popular, but I don't think I had the best first time experience here. With the high number of positive reviews though, maybe they were just having a bad day since it was a Saturday and pretty crowded, so I'm hoping to come back again in the future, during like a seasonal special if they have any.

Interior decor is gorgeous with vibrant colors and fancy gold chair and beautiful tables/booths. Food is so mid, kind of overpriced for what you get. The service was so slow with one guy doing it all.. serving and prepping food in the back. Took so long to flag him down for the bill. The steak was seasoned well and we loved the meat in the beans. Portion size is decent.. but most of our steak had fatty pieces that couldn't be eaten. What a waste. Overall, I wouldn't come back for dinner. I had high hopes for Obutekim - an a la carte version of Brazilian BBQ, instead of AYCE. We have no self-control, so this is much better for portion control. Service was sufficient, not particularly attentive. They were busy chatting with folks at a table behind us (people they seem to know). We waved for water refills, etc. The food was a mixed bag of hits-and-miss resulting in a grumpy hubby. (We went to Fogo the next weekend to make up for it.) The Food: Beef with Madeira Wine Sauce and French Fries, $27 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Sautéed Filét Mignon with mushrooms, garlic, onions, parsley, creamy roti sauce, flambéed with Madeira wine. Served with French fries. This dish tasted pretty good with the light wine sauce, many mushrooms, and very crispy fries. The beef chunks tasted mostly good with mostly tender pieces. However, my dish (see photo) doesn't look like their online photo, which is a richer variant visually closer to what a beef bourguignon looks like. I think I missed out on whatever this dish is intended to be. Their pieces of beef are randomly cut in different sizes and shape, irregular and random. My mediocre knife skills can cut more uniform pieces of beef than they did. I like this dish enough but also not hitting the bar. Fried Banana Side, $8.50 - 4 Stars Menu: Banana empanada e Frita (Breaded and Fried Bananas) These fried bananas are under the Sides in the menu. We received unbreaded fried plantains, which is fine with us since we like fried plantains. Their online menu says breaded and fried bananas, and the photo is completely different. I don't know what this dish is supposed to be. Brazilian Churrasco, $27 - 2 Stars Menu: Choice of Beef Coulotte, Garlic Sirloin and Pork Sausage. Served with jasmine rice, Brazilian style black beans (containing smoked pork sausage), potato salad, and farofa. Choice of any meat. This dish should be amongst their signature dishes. Hubby chose their two beef options: beef coulotte and garlic sirloin. See photo. The tiny piece is the garlic sirloin, which is garlicky but a bit tough. The two bigger ones are beef coulottes which have little flavor (seasonings), both are tough, with thick trims of fat. He said "2 out of 5 stars" with a grumpy face. I fed him some of my food to make him feel better.

Both are well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We ordered the flank steak medium rare, but it was medium with no pink inside. The steak was tolerable, not as tender as it could have be. This dish was served with rice per the menu. After I saw another table has their kabab served with a bread, I asked the server. She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. Zaboon, $16.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Veal tongue, simmered and fried, tomato, pickles, parsley Based on the description, the texture completely threw me off. The meat is mushy to the point of spreadable. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. I like the family vibe and am rounding up to 4 Stars for the overall rating.
