I've been into these fast casual specialty salad places recently, so when we found out that Evergreens is exclusive to the Pacific Northwest we had to check it out for lunch. This particular location was pretty empty at 1:30pm, though it was a rainy Tuesday. The interior is clean and modern. Parking is hard to come by in the Fremont area, but we were able to find parking near the Fremont Troll. We ordered the Jalapeño Business Warm Bowl and the El Sombrero Salad with chicken. Jalapeño Business (4/5): I liked how unique this bowl was. The use of raw chopped jalapeños gives it a fiery kick, while the Tilllamook white cheddar adds a nutty and salty creaminess with a Pacific Northwest flair. The pickled red onions add the acidity, while the black beans, chicken, and jasmine rice provide the body to make this bowl quite filling. The warm chipotle sauce binds it all together with a smoky chipotle flavor -- but in the menu photos the sauce is a small drizzle over the top, while in my bowl the sauce was doused and inundated everywhere like a biblical flood of chipotle sauce. The bowl was still good, but the photos don't match what you get. El Sombrero Salad with chicken (3/5): This one is actually vegetarian so we added chicken for some protein. This one was pretty mid -- the roasted corn and raw chopped jalapeños were nice touches but the romaine didn't seem like the freshest, and the leaves were too cold like straight out the fridge. Maybe I'm just not enough of a salad enthusiast for a place like this. I like the build-your-own option, but feel like it's missing some stuff. No thousand island, or regular ranch (just peppercorn), and very few pre-chosen options. Half the vegetables are pickled. Where are the plain carrots? Meanwhile, they managed to have about 5 kinds of lettuce base. It just feels like trying to be high end, but with only doing salads, it's limiting. Is this place like the Subway of Salads where ingredients are in separate bins and then built into one concoction? Yes it is, but for insta-salads it's pretty tasty. The ingredients are fresh! Really disappointed. I came here a few weeks ago and was told I could only get my item as it appeared on the menu. No alterations. I thought part of the point of a place like this was that you could customize. I tried to give them a second chance today by ordering the same thing off Door Dash. I've tried calling the store over 20 times with no answer, and left a voicemail asking for a call back and never got one. Stopped in during a mock service for the staff to prep for the grand opening on Monday 9/18. It's nice to see Evergreens come to Fremont to add some variety into the food scene. The space itself is pretty small, there's only 3 tables for seating. I got the rice rice baby bowl, which consisted of various Asian-y salad vegetables and Asian-y dressing along with brown rice and a protein. The bowl was pretty delicious with the teriyaki glaze and tasted fresh and felt healthy. Staff was friendly and helpful explaining the various options and add-ons. read more

I crave salads frequently, but there are no good places near my apartment :( I wish they would build one of these near me! A friend and I stopped by post-run for lunch.They have a make-your-own option, several regular options, and a special. I ended up doing the southwest themed one, without tortilla chips and with red peppers, chicken, and a light amount of dressing. It was huge and delicious! Probably more than I could handle eating if I hadn't just been running. Flavor was great and all of the ingredients were fresh. Much better than anything I could put together myself. This place is AWESOME! The Spicy Kale and Caesar is my absolute favorite. I sub the tomatoes and croutons with a hard-boiled egg and cucumbers, then I add salami, mozz, and pickles. I know that's a lot of changes, but I like my salads to have all the things in them. I often order through Uber Eats, give or take 2-3 times a month over the past 6 months, and there was only ONE time they forgot the jalapenos. This is thee worst evergreens location. Even if you're nearby I recommend going the extra distance to another location. Every time they refuse to chop the salad, which is signature for evergreens and what makes it so great. I think they need to learn from the others.
