Incredibly efficient, incredibly professional…read more I am usually a big supporter of buying from the local mom and pop shops. That said, I went Big Chain and I want to share my experience this morning with Discount Tire in Martinsburg. I looked around, read reviews on Consumer Reports for tires and tires stores, considered the local shop we have used since they opened 5 or 6 years ago... I decided to replace kind with kind. I got the same tires the car came with new. Michelin Primacy A/S. I figured they were good enough for Ford to spec on the car... I also decided on Discount Tire. They are Consumer Reports third highest rated chain and the only one of the top chains in the Martinsburg area. HOLY COW!!! I did the ordering online on Thursday and set up the appointment for 8:00 AM Saturday. Thursday: Email and text confirming the order. Friday: Email and text confirming the tires had been delivered and confirming the 8:00 AM Saturday appointment. This morning I arrived at the location at 7:48. Not open yet, no problem, I knew that. I am always early... 7:55: Tech comes out with a tablet, knows who I am, asks for the keys... 7:57 AM the car is in the service bay. Four techs descend on the car like a NASCAR pit crew. Four hydraulic jacks lift the car and by 8:00 AM all four wheels are off the car. Each tech takes one wheel and removes the tire, tests the TPS units, mounts and balances the new tire, and mounts it on the car. 8:11 the car is DONE. 8:12 the car is in the parking lot, I am finishing up with the service advisor. 8:15 I am in my car and pulling out of the parking lot. AMAZING!!! Everything done efficiently, professionally, properly. As I said, I like to shop with the locally owned stores but this is a level of service that can't be equaled. I should also mention that the price was far better than I could find anywhere else.

"Friendly" is getting irritating, when they don't deliver the very most basic of service. Four wasted hours just to get a balance? With a "lifetime balance guarantee?" Maybe cash-paying customers are prioritized while those of us who have warranty work are relegated way back in line, appointment slip whatever.

I have been a loyal customer of Mac's for many years, and I have never been let down. Their service…read moreis always top-notch, speedy, and comes at a fair cost. Recently, I faced a situation where one of my tires went flat after hitting a curb, and another tire had a slow leak due to a nail. The team at Mac's efficiently repaired both tires, getting me back on the road promptly. I cannot speak highly enough of Mac's when it comes to handling any tire-related problems--they truly have an exceptional crew!

At first I…read morewas able to put air in the tire and it would last for around 3-4 days but now it was only good for hours before my tire would go flat. To make matters worse all four of these tires are basically new and less than 30 days old! Anyway, this whole thing was driving me nuts, so I started shopping around for a place. I remembered this local place that allowed you to drive up for on-the-spot repair and they work on your tire(s) while you wait in your car, so I decided to give them a try and I'm really glad I did. When I arrived there were a couple of cars ahead of me, which wasn't a big deal since this place is similar to a drive-thru you allowing you to conveniently wait your turn in your car. They work pretty quickly here and before I knew it I'm pulling forward to get my tire looked at. The mechanic was friendly, respectful, and took the time to listen to what was going on with my tire. He quickly got the tire off, diagnosed the problem, and explained what needed to be done in plain language. The problem was with the valve stem, which had a leak. The mechanic got right to work making the repair and explaining to me what he was doing. The work was done efficiently and correctly, and he made sure everything was explained to my satisfaction. There was no pressure, no upselling, and no runaround; just honest work and solid service. Oh, and the cost of this repair was less than 25 bucks! I couldn't believe I received this much service and such great work at this price point. What makes this place stand out to me is the customer service from all of the staff, but in particular the mechanics themselves that are actually working on your car. Usually, the people working on your car are hidden in a garage somewhere while you wait in a waiting room, so you never actually meet the mechanic working on your car. At Mac's you are up close and personal to the mechanic. That's a huge plus in my book. You can tell this is a local business that actually cares about its reputation and all of the customers coming there. It's the kind of shop where they remember you, talk to you with respect, and make sure you leave satisfied. If you're tired of chain shops and want to support a local business that does quality work and treats customers right, this is the place to go. They earned my trust, and I'll definitely be back for future tire and service needs. Highly recommended!

I am including a brief description of the condition of the vehicle when I arrived at Radial Tire Monday (2/16/26) at 2:00pm. The receiving manager and I discussed the tire issues and history. I told him I had a service light in the dash that was saying a tire was low on air and they were new tires (vs the previous service light for sensors not functioning). He measured the tire pressure of all the tires and they were all at different psi (33, 34, 42 and 18). My vehicle was placed in a service line and I waited in a lobby for approximately an hour. Radial tires took the low tire off the vehicle and tested it for leaks and determined the problem was that a valve stem hadn't been correctly sealed, the tires were all fine. Before leaving the work bay, I noticed the sensor light was still on, so a retest determined the driver's front sensor was going bad and it was replaced. The service manager told me Toyota and Lexus have challenging tire sensors, that they can often get one sensor working and the computer will then say another good sensor stopped working. I left Radial Tire around 4:30, problems solved and paid for one new sensor and install. I've had several people tell me Radial Tire is the BEST in this area and they will have all of my business in the future and that of anyone I know. Thank you for resolving what was a time consuming, frustrating experience!! I'm so glad my friend recommended you!!

I brought four wheels to Radial Tire to have a new set of all-seasons mounted and balanced. My car runs a staggered setup, meaning the rear wheels and tires are physically wider than the fronts. Since I maintain a small fleet of my own vehicles, I do almost all my own mechanical work, but tire mounting is one of the few things I have to outsource. Unfortunately, this experience highlighted a critical breakdown in basic quality control. I brought the wheels in loose to make the job as straightforward as possible for the shop, but they sat there for a few days before being touched. When I finally picked them up, I noticed the front tires were stretched onto the wider rear wheels, and vice versa. While the team corrected the mistake immediately once it was pointed out, this isn't just a minor technical oversight. Mismatched staggered tires can lead to a catastrophic bead failure or blowout at highway speeds. It is a severe safety hazard that could easily cause a fatal accident if it goes unnoticed before the wheels are bolted onto a vehicle. On top of the critical mounting error, the general pride in workmanship was non-existent. The wheels were handed back to me covered in caked-on mounting paste all over the outer rims without even a basic effort to wipe them down. To make matters worse, the shop also misplaced the summer tires I explicitly stated I wanted to keep. Management did the right thing by waiving the mounting and balancing fee, but at the end of the day, I am still short a set of my own property. I understand that mistakes happen, but a triple failure of safety verification, basic cleanliness, and property management means I can't risk bringing my vehicles back here, nor can I recommend them to any of the local car groups I'm a part of.

One of their mechanics was kind enough to just take a listen and see what he could make of it, free-of-charge. When I brought it back for a more thorough diagnosis, they identified the problem (timing belt rubbing slightly on something due to tolerances that are too tight; addressed in a manufacturer's technical service bulletin from 15 years ago). It would have been a big job and a bundle of money to fully resolve the issue. Ultimately they (Brent) advised me to just let it go and keep an eye on it because it's not a "catastrophic" issue. Honest and much appreciated advice. That said, I also had another less satisfactory experience before this. Had a slow leak in a tire, so brought it in for inspection. They had a young (teen-aged) and probably less experienced mechanic patch the tire for me. He kept looking to the older mechanics for guidance, which didn't instill a lot of confidence. Sure enough, the patch ended up failing while I was on the highway. In the end, I had to replace the tire. Upon inspecting the old tire, the folks at the tire shop told me that the puncture wasn't close enough to the middle of the contact patch, but rather on the outer part of the tread, too close to the sidewall to be safe, which meant that it should've been immediately replaced, rather than patched. So, just make sure that Brent and/or one of their more senior, certified mechanics is taking care of things and you should be good!

The attendant took my keys and said it would be about 40 minutes to an hour. About an hour later, I got a call saying the car looked great, everything was in good condition, but they did recommend that I get a brake fluid exchange. I definitely raised an eyebrow at that comment because you usually only have to replace the brake fluid every 4-5 years, and certainly not on a vehicle with less than 45,000 miles on it. I declined the offer. Again, I was given an estimate that it would be about 45 minutes for them to wrap things up with my car. Seemed like a long time to wait for an oil change, given I had dropped the car off when they opened and they already had it for an hour, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. An hour later, I came into their office to pick up my car, only to be told that it wasn't ready because they were waiting on a part to be delivered. At this point I was really scratching my head, because I wasn't getting any work done on the vehicle, just an oil change. I was informed that "whoever had previously changed the oil had stripped the oil cap, so it needed to be replaced." I was definitely skeptical of this, because I knew the car hadn't been leaking oil, but I asked for an estimate for when it would be ready... they couldn't provide me with one. I left for a second time, now wondering why this issue wasn't mentioned when I received the phone call saying everything looked great with the car. Another hour goes by and I finally get a call saying my car was ready to pick up. When I paid for the job, they charged me $88 for a full synthetic oil change, which I did not request, $7 for "disinfecting the interior of the vehicle" which was CLEARLY not done, as well as an extra $18 for the replacement oil drain plug. With labor included, the total came to $130, for what should have been a simple oil change. While I was honestly expecting the price to be high, I have NEVER paid over $60 ANYWHERE for an oil change. After paying for the work, I asked if I could have the original oil cap so I would know what to look for in the future should I have this issue again. When the attendant handed me the cap, it was obvious that whoever tried to take the cap off at Brown's garage had mangled it with the wrong tool. There were fresh shards and flakes of metal around the top of the cap, while the threads were completely intact. If the attendant had been telling me the truth, the mangled bits of metal would have shown signs of aging or discoloration like the rest of the cap, instead of looking shiny and freshly torn up. I've included a picture of the oil cap for reference. I absolutely should have read the reviews of this place before giving them my business. It seems as though their company policy is to not take ownership of mistakes when they happen, upcharge their customers for services they clearly do not need, and then have their owner reply to negative online reviews by making excuses for their employees. Maria, I know you are reading this, and I can already tell you that I have NO intention of communicating with you over the phone about the services your shop has provided. If you are truly concerned about the integrity of your work, stop trying to make nice with customers who put you on blast on the internet. Your time would be better spent reading about business ethics, and owning up to mistakes when they happen. Update: contrary to the business owner's reply, I never received a "digital report" of any of the services that were provided, and I actually was waiting to receive one before writing this review. I know the "digital report" is standard practice for this business, which is how I've been fleeced into paying for extra services in the past. Since I haven't received any before/after photos of the work that was performed, I stand by my original review and suspicions that the damage to the oil cap occurred when I brought my car in. Sidebar: regardless of what kind of oil change I had performed in the past, a standard (aka conventional) oil change is NOT the same as a full synthetic oil change. I requested a standard oil change, but was upcharged for full synthetic. While this may be the regular operating procedure at Brown's, if you go to any reputable auto service shop and request a standard oil change, they will give you a conventional oil change, or at least clarify what type of oil you want before performing the oil change. TLDR: if you want quality service and accountability, this ain't the place. Never again.
