iTan is a favorite place of mine for spray tans. I have frequented this location for many years, but probably less so during and after the pandemic just because I had less of a need to be tan. :-) Lately I have been coming back and each time, the service has been top notch and the owners should be proud of how the recent staff is treating clients when management is not around. For starters, I learned after a decade of spray tanning that I needed 2 caps to protect my blond hair. Thank you, years of wondering why my hair was orange finally solved! I was also sold on the new Spray Light membership which was the perfect compromise from the all inclusive membership I used to have but no longer have a need for. But I wasn't pressured and I appreciated that. But I wanted to give a special shout out to Anita, who helped me today. I feel awful for not catching her name, but she asked what my tanning goal was and explained the beds in more detail, telling me what will get me to my goal. I have been a member of iTan for a bit now and have enjoyed my experience with them. This downtown location, however, is my favorite because, even though they are smaller than most locations, they are so accommodating and their customer service is great. If they have a line, or a large group of people, they keep their cool and make sure everyone is catered too. They have a room for every level (5 levels) plus airbrushing. Every time I have been, it has been exceptionally clean, ready to go and full of the necessary amenities you may need. I asked to have my account cancelled in the beginning of Covid because they were still charging memberships while closed. Was told it was. That was like April. Fast forward to today (12/17/20) and I just revived a call asking for my past due balance. I was informed they only put my account on freeze and confined to charge me $5/month. I have a new debit card, so they couldn't charge the last 3 month. This was the first and only call I received from them. So if you like to be charged without permission, feel free to go here. They never offered a refund for charging while the county was on lockdown or the continued payments they kept taking. read more

During the transition of quarantine reopening up, and dealing with making sure my account was back up and being compensated for the missed days from the month due to the shut down Gianna helped me despite all the complications and made sure I got the best deal. I was recommended by a friend to come here. I only tan before vacations and heard there are new client packages to help see what beds work best. I came in March 1st and was assisted by a nice younger girl. She explained the 7 days for 7$ deal. Fantastic deal if you get it. Anyway, she entered all my info in and I did a tan. I left and was called later saying my card was never run and she didn't get me entered for the deal. Not a problem I thought. I'll give it to her over phone. She said today would be a freebie and to come in next time and they will start the deal. I come back March 7 I believe and there is a diffe girl. I explained the situation and she found me in system. I was told she can't give me the deal since I was already in system. I said I was told over phone to come back in another time to start the deal. I was told told she can't override the promo code..something of the sort. So, she calls manager and tells her. Same outcome. Anyways, not going in to anymore detail over it. I paid the 23$ full price for one more tan as I felt I owed it from the first free one. I was really disappointed in losing the new client deal that everyone else that's new gets. I was going to see if there is a different bed that worked better. The deal helps make it easier to try a new one in the 7 day span. So, my advise, don't punish the customer over an employee mistake! Not mad, just was shocked. I'm sure it's still a good place most days. After posting this, the manager Barbie personally contacted me and solved the issue immediately. I was very impressed with the professionalism and quick recovery of the mistake. I was taken care more than fairly. I will always give my business before vacations here! Been coming here for years and i'm compelled to leave a review about the quality customer service I receive on nearly daily basis from Micah. I had a question about changing the type of membership I had and she was able to coordinate with the owner/manager (sorry idk the official titles!) and get me taken care of. Every time I go in she remembers my name and is so accommodating. it really makes the experience enjoyable and if i'm in a rush she is able to get me in and out in a hurry. so appreciate her and i've never had any issues with any of the services at this location. read more

This place is freaking terrible. I'm a member, I go to spray tan weekly. About 75% of the time their machines are broken. They offer no credit just "ph well you can go to Hillcrest." Which would be a major inconvenience. The rare time their spray machines work, they are clogged or only spray about half of the rounds. Rooms are left dirty with often no towels, lotion or hair nets available. I'm only a member here because it's cheap and I'm considering canceling if they don't clean up their act and fix the machines soon. read more

Update to review: I had some small issues with bulbs being out in beds but after some chats, got amazing followup from the district manager over this location and some excellent customer service to resolve my feedback. I was in San Diego for a bachelorette party and I NEEDED to be tan! Thank GOD itan was there for me! SOOO CHEAP compared to other places! It was sooooo clean and the employees Arrieanna and Alaina Smith were sooo sweet and helpful (I had no idea what to do until they gave me the best advise). I went to use the level 4 bed and it kept flipping on and off. Had a nice staff member help me. She reset the bed that didn't work so she just put me in another level 4. These level 4 beds look older then the ones from hill crest and Oceanside location. There all scratched up and the floors are filthy. You can see black dirt caked on as if the cleaning hasn't been done In Years. I took my shoes off to get in the bed and they literally stuck to the floor! So disgusting. I guess you don't have to be pleasant to work at a tanning salon but it is a nice characteristic to have in a customer service position. Sadly, the team working here isn't warm or welcoming. I've been a member for almost a decade and this location just feels depressing. The staff look like they'd rather be anywhere than at work. It's not a them problem, it's a management problem. Perhaps consider a team outing or something to lift their spirits. I come to Itan to relax and it should be a pleasant environment but I felt as though I was waking into someone's funeral. The location isn't ideal either- downtown with no parking other than street parking, you have to pay for and they don't validate. read more

I understand that good people are hard to find these days but common sense isn't. If someone is a level, and all of those levels are full and people are waiting, let someone take the next level up to keep people moving thru, is it really going to damage the business OR cause more frustration seeing open beds and making people wait... Also, the equipment in this location, there is always an issue, machines are down, or fans don't work properly, seems like one thing after another. Hours on the weekends seem to change with little to zero notice, closing earlier. Just sad. read more
