There's a lot of sushi places on this block. I thought I'd drop by this restaurant, since I haven't been there in several years. As it turns out, it's a hidden gem; currently under new management. I'm not sure if the sweet older lady behind the counter's the owner or not. Customer in front of me ordered a party set (they also do catering). Their new name is Hibono Bistro. I ordered the Samurai Set to go, which seemed like a great deal. The sushi's good and fresh! Not much atmosphere to the place; it's all very basic, but at least what I've tried is pretty good! Like some of the previous reviews I thought I would use my Entertainment Book coupon. The new owner( who is actually a relative of the old owner ) Claimed they don't accept the coupon, they tried to get unlisted but were unsuccessful, then he said The entertainment book sends the money to the previous owner?!? I said, the Entertainment Book doesn't reimburse restaurants for the discounts!! Then he offers me the discount if I do takeout, I said ok. Pretty mediocre sushi place. Friends and I went after a tiring game of futsal, ready to eat on a Monday night at 7:30. On the way to Sasamat stop, we realized that Sun Sushi, our intended destination, was closed on Mondays. (Sad. Why did they do that.) So we wandered up and down 10th, until we stumbled upon Everyday Sushi. We lingered outside of the restaurant for a while, debating whether or not to go in, and then a couple coming out of the establishment told us it was pretty good. We decided to give it a shot. I ordered a three item combo for 10.95, which actually comes with a fourth bonus item. I got a dynamite roll, chicken udon, and assorted tempura, and mango ice cream as a bonus. They keep your green tea filled up, which is always nice. Food was decent, servers were very friendly. Would definitely go back (but I'm a Sun Sushi fan through and through). read more

When we arrived on a Wednesday night, no one was in the restaurant. We had a Entertainment coupon so we thought to give them a try. The service was friendly and we were promptly given some tea to start off. The menu has a lot of options and it took awhile for us to figure out what we wanted. There are a number of combos, but we had a hard time finding a combo that worked for us. We ended up ordering a bento box, a few rolls and some nigiri. The bento box and the rolls were good. With the nigiri, I really liked the toro. The salmon nigiri was also delicious and fresh. The yellowtail was not so fresh. Overall they were good but not enough for me to come back. read more

I don't really like this place. Decor is a bit run down. Its own and ran by Chinese and the sushi are not that appetizing when I first saw them. Not to mention they are not that good. For the price, I could have went to a better sushi place with more ingredients in their special rolls. Came here because I bought a Groupon but still with the Groupon, I think they are over priced. Genuinely the cheapest and best sushi you can get around Vancouver, super close to UBC in case you're hoping to upgrade from your cooking or UBC's limited options. Best bang for your buck. The men there are so friendly and nice. My boyfriend cracked right up. They're super warm and attentive. Yes, they are busy, but I can see they work hard and love what they do. The only people who care about the fact that they're not Japanese are genuinely just closed minded and frankly elitist. Nobody hated on white people for making tacos in California, all we care is about the food. Walking in here with basically zero expectations, Everyday sushi managed to surprise us in more ways than one. The cashier/server was extremely polite and courteous. The value-minded sushi/sashimi combos are on the back of the menu and they're quite solid, even the nigiri pieces. We even tried their 'original ramen', and even though it was far from being authentic, it did satisfy our noodle cravings. Today was warm outside so it felt quite stuffy in there (no a/c, errr), and the heat might have caused the wasabi to be unusually dry. I was eating here for probably the four millionth time since I moved into the area a year ago and it dawned on me- hey, I don't think I've ever written a review for them! So here I am! Everyday sushi- is fantastic. They have a large selection of customs rolls, as well as regular japanese fare. They also have dozens of combo options posted inside, as well as a changing special that is always a great deal- advertised on their sandwich-board out on the sidewalk. This place is run by a sweet couple- he doing the sushi while she does the prep and waitressing. Over the last year they have come to be friends :) They will deliver to you but since they do get busy in the evenings, it will take about 40 minutes for the wife to make it out to you. Also, there is a $25 minimum order for deliveries. Now on to the sushi- deliciousness. I recommend you try their tuna tataki (careful- that spicy sauce is FRESH), their dragon roll, and their philadelphia roll- best ones I've had anywhere and I'm a sushi freak. There are also a few items not on their menu that are worth asking for- like their red bean balls (sweet red bean in a rice ball, black sesame seeds on the outside with some tastey onion) or cream cheese balls (cream cheese in a rice ball, white sesame seeds on the outside with some tastey onion). They also do a red bean roll. I found out about these when witnessing them making the largest platters of sushi I've ever seen. Which reminds me- amazing pricing on their platters, and the husband can whip up 50 pieces of fresh sushi/sashimi in about 10 minutes! I'm moving out of the area and will definitely miss these guys- they are a staple of my diet. I will be visiting whenever I'm around! read more

I came here last month with the wifey since we had a coupon to use from the entertainment book. It was a sunday evening around 6:30pm and nice and quiet inside. First thing I noticed is that the interior décor needs a makeover. My tabletop also felt sticky and gross like how a range hood fan feels when it caked with oil. After using the men's washroom, I noted that the toilet flush handle was broken and held on by some string plus the dispenser was out of paper towels. Clearly this place doesn't maintain the premises....I didn't want to imagine how the kitchen would look like if the common area was this bad! Onto the review of the food, since that is the most important. We ordered a variety of rolls and a chicken soba dish. The rolls were consistent and I must say delicious. However, the chicken soba was drowning in sauce and really salty. The texture of the chicken was also rubbery. The reason why I gave such a low rating despite the satisfactory experience with the food was that the waiter, although a nice guy was a bit disorganized running around trying to do a dozen different things at once. I came up to the front to pay the bill and despite seeing me, he continued on for about 2 minutes to clear a table. Upon ringing up my total on the till, the phone rings and he's answers it but disappears in the kitchen. This leaves me standing by the front looking like an idiot. Also, we had a coupon like I mentioned and he tells me its not accepted on sunday. There's no where on the coupon that states that coupons are not accepted on a sunday so I mentioned that to him. He tells me this is noted on the website. I've been using entertainment coupons for years now...if a coupon is not accepted on a weekend or holiday, a business will have this printed on their coupons as to warn customers. Not so in this case. I didn't tip at all and left after paying the bill. I would honestly get burger king instead of eating here again. read more

Worst sushi in Vancouver. I've never NOT finished a sushi special. I didn't finish the one from Everyday sushi. It was like the chef didn't even know how to make sushi. Their brown rice wasn't brown. All of the pieces were sliced to different sizes, some being super thing. And it wasn't rolled properly so it fell apart the instant I picked it up, turning my plate into a mush if rice and other stuff. And the staff weren't friendly at all. I'd take Sun Sun Sushi down the street over this place and that isn't saying much. read more

Before writing this review, I ordered sushi from Everyday Sushi three times in October, 2015. Delivery was pretty quick and a delivery guy was friendly, but the problem is their food. I posted a picture of their sushi on Yelp. Just in case you cannot even guess what kind of sushi I ordered, because the fish part's super tiny, it was supposed to be smoked salmon roll. A horrific experience. I ordered a dynamite roll combo from this restaurant via just eat delivery, and this is what I got. The picture is self-explanatory. Additionally, I had an unknown black stain on my salmon sashimi I ordered, and also, the crab meat inside the california roll tasted really fishy. Hungover, finally mustering the sense to go out and grab some dinner. You've tried Sun Sushi, Hime has odd hours, so you settle for Everyday Sushi. It's near the Starbucks so you can always grab a coffee after, because you haven't done any school work all weekend and you'd want the extra Java. You walk in, and kindly ask "takoyaki to start please" from the server that greeted you with two hot teas and menus. Your hands graze the lid of the kikkoman soy sauce and it's coated with a thick and greasy layer of dust. You shudder and slide your hands off the table, but that's sticky as well. Shortly after, the chef that rolls the sushi comes over and takes your order... The food is a pass because at this point it's mere sustenance. You were too lazy to cook and you need some thing quick, easy, and guaranteed to satisfy your weekly sushi craving. Your sashimi and one of the "chefs recommendation special roll" arrives. There are no saucers for soy sauce, no side plates and no chop sticks. We had to grab saucers and chop sticks from the table next to us. How inconvenient, having the rolls arrive 15 minutes apart from one another. Your counterpart eyes your food as you slowly and modestly eat, but all you want to do is inhale your food. You're polite though. We follow up with the server who brings the next roll. "Is the takoyaki coming? We asked the first server for it." He nods and doesn't come back. You sympathize because it's rather labour intensive and perhaps takes some time. After 15 more minutes, it's time to start studying and you let go the prospect of those delicious, savoury squid donuts. As you pay you notice that Bubble tea is on their menu. You want a taro smoothie and because the team at Everyday Sushi barely speaks English they nod along, agreeing that they can blend it. Then you're brought this watery purple substance that is nearly transparent. It is also warm. This is it for you. You ask to for a refund for the bubble tea. The other man tries to explain to you that there was a misunderstanding and they only have milk tea. You disagree and say that you were promised something and it's fair to get a full refund. The man finally agrees but asks that he only give you $3.00 instead of $3.75 to account for the waste. You feel your blood boiling and your heart beat hasten. You are trying your hardest not to cuss or yell, but you will stand your ground. "That is a completely arbitrary number. Our service was not up to par today; we asked for takoyaki from the first server and it was never delivered---" you are cut off. "He is just he driver. Sorry, but we can make it for you in four minutes." "That is not the point. We followed up with the chef there and he said it was coming. I've already paid and I don't want the takoyaki anymore. However, this is the consistent let down this restaurant has given me and my partner." The man nods again and says sorry. "We had horrible service the whole time and all that I ask is that you refund me, full price, for this bubble tea because it's the last straw." The man nods and gives you a rounded amount to $4.00. You make an oath, as you ruefully clutch the two toonies to never, ever, come back to this restaurant. read more

I tried this place a month ago and the food was absolutely amazing! I usually place an order and eat in class so I would be starving! This time I picked my food and my chicken was very dry no sauce for chicken! The Gyoza was very dry and burned!! It also doesn't have flavour this time! It feels like it's a whole different restaurant!!!I am very very disappointed because I just paid $30 for food that I wouldn't eat for free!!! I have been here a few times with the best friend since it is literally within his home distance. We get the basic veggie, avocado and cucumber roll. There are a lot of sushi places on this stretch of 10th, but Everyday is my favorite. I'm not a gourmand when it comes to sushi (I'm one of those heathens that orders cali rolls), but I like plentiful, inexpensive sushi and this place has that. I probably go once or twice a week. They have daily specials where you get three rolls and miso for under $7 and a dinner/lunch special where you can get 4 items from the special menu for under $11. Party trays seem like a good deal as well. Service is usually pretty good, with plenty of refills on tea, and the servers always smiling. The restaurant is pretty tiny, and it can get a little hot and muggy on sunny days, so if you've got a large party or it's warm out, you might want to get take out instead. FYI: They do have a discount card where every three stamps (earned for $10+ purchases) earns you either a california roll or a dynamite roll, but you sometimes have to ask for the card, rather than getting offered one. If you eat there a lot, like me, it's very worthwhile. read more

I've been a frequent customer of Everyday since 2009, and I will continue to keep returning. If you're looking for consistently well-made, good portioned, inexpensive sushi, then this is your place. Easily accessible from UBC - without hesitation I can say it's worth busing 2 minutes to Everyday over any of the places nearby or on campus. On several occasions I've taken out-of-town friends to Everyday and they always tell me they loved it. Side note: I am a huge fan of brown rice, and the brown rice sushi they make here is completely on point. My favorite part of Everyday though is the staff. The owners are extremely friendly and genuine. They always take time to speak with me and are extremely appreciative of their customers. Would DEFINITELY recommend! read more

I think they have changed owners. It used to be so much better when Helen ran the place. We ordered last night and the girl on the phone was totally useless, I had to speak to her like she was a child and continually repeat myself. We were given a 15 minute delivery time and it arrived over an hour later. Rolls were sloppily thrown together and portions were tiny, we couldn't even find octopus in the takoyaki. The beef yakisoba wasn't even soba noodles, it was like flavourless chow mein with grey meat. Waste of money. Won't be returning read more
