This is just one of the two rooms at Evo MAA, they have another room just as big specifically for BJJ. Lots of mat space!

Best martial arts academy in the Sparks, NV area! Pros: -Diverse: They offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, Judo (fundamentals) and Goju-Shorei. They are a certified Charles Gracie BJJ affiliate school. Charles Gracie himself from the Gracie family stops by and does seminars here time to time. -Staff: Ray, owner/instructor, is very nice, humble, and knowledgeable as he studies multiple martial arts. He is a 4th degree black belt in standing, and brown belt in BJJ. As far as BJJ they have a Charles Gracie black belt, Jason, teaching that is very knowledgeable in BJJ. He breaks everything down into simple terms. Both are good at teaching both kids and adults. Great family atmosphere. -Gym: They have lots of gym space. I took is dedicated specifically for BJJ. They even have tournaments there frequently. Gym is always clean and neat. I personally have been going there on and off for BJJ for a few years. There is no pressure if you have no experience in martial arts, so just stop by and check it out. They are legit teachers and the students there are also experienced and competitive.

The vibe in this studio is so much more different in comparison to the old studio but I still like it. The workout although it doesn't involve a lot of cardio (jogging or running around the studio, jumping jacks, etc), feels intense because it concentrates a lot more with strength training. This week was my first day back since they transitioned mid last year and man, I feel SORE!!! My work had a lot of restrictions on what we can do as outside activities due to pandemic so I skipped moooonths of gym/studios. It was definitely great to be back and finally try out this new studio. There is PLENTY of space for social distancing, and each classes are limited to 20 people. The owner/instructor is a 5th Degree Black Belt that studied Taekwon-Do, BJJ / Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Kickboxing so rest assured you're going to get an excellent HYBRID workout! The schedule consist mainly of kickboxing which it transitioned from the old studio, and taekwon-do classes couple of nights a week! The classes are also ALL ages (from 8-12 and above) so you can even take your kids or young teens to work out with you! Their rate is reasonable and I believe it is great value for what you'll be receiving even if you're only able to attend twice week--but why only twice a week!?? I'm currently on nights so my schedule is limited to once or twice a week but when I return to days I can't wait to attend at least three times a week!!! The customer service is AWESOME!!! I got taken care of--with lots of love--with anything I needed from transitioning from my old studio membership to getting proper guidance during workout.

During that visit, one of the coaches, Javi, made comments that were completely inappropriate for an adult in a position of trust. He told my daughter she "fights like a ghetto Black girl," which is an unacceptable and offensive remark to make to any child. He then had my 13-year-old daughter call me on the phone. During that interaction, he asked her to show him my social media pictures and told her he wanted me to have his babies. I have never met this man in my life. When I gave him no attention, he reportedly told my daughter, "Tell her never mind. She looks like she's an attention-seeking mother." I cannot understand why an adult coach would involve a minor in a personal conversation about her mother or make comments like these to a child. Coaches are supposed to mentor, encourage, and create a safe environment not put children in the middle of inappropriate personal interactions. I sincerely hope UFC Gym Reno takes this complaint seriously and investigates what happened. Parents should be able to trust that their children are in a safe, respectful, and professional environment.

But I know what you're saying..."I don't like group workouts". OK, well, I didn't used to either! This place feels like dance party with your friends. Good music, even better lighting, and it takes the pressure off thinking any eyes are on you. (Pro tip, they're not...everyone is too busy working up a sweat to notice if you're struggling thru some burpees. Spoiler - we all are!) OK, "but it's haaaardddd". Yep! It is challenging! And anything worth doing is worth doing well! Rome wasn't built in a day, and all those other clichés, and getting out of shape didn't happen overnight, and getting back into better shape takes time. There is no magic bullet; only consistency. AND, when your workout feels like FUN, you'll want to keep coming back! Just browse the pics on Results Sparks FB page, who has this much fun getting fit?!?! "What's is cost?" Better health isn't expensive, but sickness sure is! Ask yourself if those fancy coffees or fast-food takeout, or drinks or smoke-shop visits add up! Mmmm-hmm. Fitness is an investment in yourself. AND YOU'RE WORTH IT!!! Finally, and this is what brought me back after trying it on my own...this place has a sense of belonging and encouragement that makes you feel like part of the family. In fact, when you're here, you're FitFam! Take that, you cheesy pasta place, what have you ever done for me?!?! The staff, coaches and members here HAVE EACH OTHER'S BACKS! From nutrition support, workout help for every body & ability, to just good 'ol high fives and encouragement, nothing beats Results. Don't take my word for it, come train with me as my guest, and we'll show ya!

I showed up and checked in and being a gym rat, he always promised a butt kicking workout. Let me just tell you, it delivered! I'm not big on group training, so I almost said no. I'm so glad I gave them a try. We formed a group of 4 with two other guys and it was a blast as we moved through the stations. I'll most likely drop in again with him in the future. The energy and the coaches were awesome and of course my friend was recognized for his workouts; he's a beast! This place kicked my tail. Overall, the gym seems pretty decent. I haven't used the pool, sauna, or hot tub yet, so I can't…read morereally review those. The equipment is in overall good shape, although there do seem to be some cardio machines that lack some of their original functionality (heartbeat sensors that don't work). The facility is pretty clean, and well organized, and I haven't seen any behavior by patrons or employees that would be off putting to anyone of any fitness level (and I should know, my strength is pretty poor right now). I can say that I definitely do not recommend that anyone use their personal training options as of now. I'm about six weeks into a six month contract (and very glad that I didn't sign up for one longer or with more/longer sessions)... and now have a third (fourth in one way) personal trainer... the first flaked and never showed for the first appointment (after the 'free personal training session' which was much more a hard sell session)... all communications except for the notice that a different trainer was assigned to me on that first paid session has been by text message, that, and only that communication was by email (which I didn't check until hours later)... no one at the gym knew about the change, either and, evidently, the other trainer was either not there or not that interested (I was at the cubicles where the pt's are based ten minutes early and stayed for at least five minutes after the scheduled time before going to do a workout on my own). The second (third?) trainer was great for a few weeks, but her schedule has now changed, so I've been shunted to a third (fourth?) trainer that I've met (I never met the second that was the rescheduled no show)... each of the three I've met has had a different focus and style, so six weeks into this, I still don't really have a set workout schedule because I haven't been able to settle into any kind of rhythm and routine. Presuming that I don't just give this up as wisdom earned, I expect no less than a few more weeks before anything changes... and who knows what else might happen between now and then. My initial goal was simply to improve my strength and possibly maximize the efficiency of my workouts as I'm getting older and coming off of an injury... six weeks has now been at least partially wasted while costing me a not insignificant amount of money and time. I would have been better off simply doing what I've done previously and working off of knowledge that's 20 years old but developing my own routine and simply doing my best... I would be farther along in improving my conditioning. If you're fine working out alone and don't need a (or want) a personal trainer, I would recommend that you consider this gym... otherwise, I'd recommend that you find somewhere else.
