It's one of the only Olympic style taekwondo schools in northern Nevada and their curriculum reflects it. Practices focus on belt level forms, kicks, sparring, and self defense. The community here is incredibly welcoming and a great place for kids to learn discipline, stay active, and make friends! First Taekwondo actively participates in northern and southern California tournaments and consistently places gold. Master Tanner has practice Taekwondo for over 30 years. He's passionate about his work and really cares for the kids and adults. He's also the coach for Nevada Taekwondo which is UNR's team. He has a team of black belts that teach as well, together they keep the classes unique and interesting so classes stay fresh. It's a fun and competitive environment and I can't recommend it more!

For authenticity of American Kenpo's sake this is a great thing. The dojo/training center is conveniently located and there's plenty of parking in a secure and well lit complex. Mr. Linzies teaching style is really good and he seems to be as thorough with the adult class as he is the little ones (never really too early as long as you can pay attention for the instruction!) But he makes sure you understand what your doing -- then you practice it / drill it to build the muscle memory. He also doesn't gloss over questions and answers them in a way you'll understand. His promotion system is fair -- you won't get promoted until you really understand the belt level BUT he doesn't seem to be one to hold you back at a low belt forever either -- offering tips on the belt as a step towards the next level. He runs specials from time to time so watch for a flyer or ask him what specials he's running. He also runs a womens self defense class that I feel is a great contribution to the community from time to time (recommended) The good guys wear black...and that's my goal a black gi (ask Sensei Linzie if you don't know) Osu!

They do a couple of one on one lessons before they get you in a group lesson which is cool, a chance to decide if you're going to like it. The teachers are all so wonderful. It's a very comfortable and friendly atmosphere. In fact, after a couple of months watching my son do his classes, I decided it looked like a lot of fun and I signed up for classes too. I've been having a blast! It's a great workout for me, it's so much fun, and the people in my classes are really great. I've only had about 4 classes now but I really love it here.
