Had to call Roadside Assistance to jump it so I could get to O'Reilly's Auto Parts for a new battery before they closed. They said it was the alternator not the battery. Contacted DFW Mobile Repair and Hamm responded immediately with a price quote to fix it. Set up the appointment for mid-afternoon the next day, July 5th (Sunday, on a holiday weekend). Hamm was certainly knowledgeable, and after testing, said it was BOTH the battery and alternator. He replaced the alternator (which he had brought, having had my prior information as to car and model) and then drove to O'Reilly's nearby for a replacement battery which he then installed. In short, Hamm was responsive, capable, courteous and efficient. DFW saved the day (although I lost most of the holiday weekend with the problem!). Pricing wasn't cheap but was competitive I'd say. Give DFW a shot. Their customer service and mechanical work was outstanding. They also have a shop in addition to their mobile repair service. I will certainly consider them for all my future work! Anyway, it's a small location, but well stocked. The staff is friendly! I went in for just a quick replace purchase for my windshield wipers. He actually steered me away from the most expensive (that I was about to buy) to recommend something that he said works way better for my particular vehicle. He was right, too, they are awesome. He also installed them for me, which was appreciated if not necessary. These places all used to do stuff like that, but I've found that many stores are letting that go by the wayside. This location has really lost their way in customer service. One employee in particular (won't name…read morehim) is very sarcastic and uninterested in being there, at least it seems that way. I don't suggest leaving him alone to run the store, or trust me, he will chase customers away. Also, I thought O'Reilly's usually offers to help switch out your battery if you purchase a new one? I could be mistaken as maybe that's just an Auto Zone thing. Luckily I know how to do basic work on cars. However, I can only imagine if someone like my mother, younger brother or sister went in to buy one. I'll stick with my other O'Reilly's location from now on.
