Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. Our server never brought out the bread before the meal, and when our food arrived, we didn't even have plates. We had to get up and find dishes ourselves. Our server rarely checked on us. We had to flag him down for both bread and drinks, and when the bread finally arrived, there was no oil. After asking for the bill, the server walked past our table five times before finally returning with it on the sixth pass. To make matters worse, the pizza was warm at best. We're not sure whether only part of our order was prepared and the rest sat waiting, or whether our food may have been someone else's order that was brought back out rather than discarded. I don't leave one-star reviews lightly. If you look at my review history, you'll see I rarely write negative reviews. Unfortunately, this experience at Tavolino earned one. First, the positive: our server was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely apologetic throughout the evening. I know his name, but I'm intentionally not including it here because I don't want any negative attention or pushback directed at him. None of what happened was his fault. In fact, he handled every situation exactly as I would have hoped. My frustration is entirely with management and the kitchen. My niece and I met for dinner to catch up. We hadn't seen each other in over a month and were simply looking forward to a relaxing evening together. About halfway through my soda, I realized the pint glass I had been drinking from was cracked almost completely around the circumference of the glass. I brought it to our server's attention, and he immediately apologized and replaced it. However, no manager ever came by to acknowledge what had happened. Serving a customer a cracked glass is a serious safety issue. We ordered the mussels as an appetizer. The first one I ate had some noticeable grit, which I overlooked because it happens from time to time. After a few more bites, I looked into the bowl and immediately noticed at least three mussels that were still completely closed. Even as someone who isn't from New England, I know the basic food safety rule: if a mussel doesn't open during cooking, it shouldn't be served. The fact that there were multiple unopened mussels in the dish was alarming. Again, our server apologized and removed the appetizer from the table. Again, no manager came to our table. Removing the soda and the mussels from the bill wasn't exceptional service. It was the bare minimum. We were never looking for anything for free. We simply expected someone in management to acknowledge what had happened. Two significant issues occurred during a single meal, one involving a cracked glass and another involving improperly served seafood. The fact that no one from management came to our table until we specifically asked to speak with someone was the most disappointing part of the entire experience. When we finished dinner, we specifically asked to speak with a manager. When we spoke with him, he agreed that someone should have come to our table and acknowledged what had happened. Apparently there were two managers on duty that evening, yet neither one thought it warranted checking in with us after two separate incidents. He explained that it had been a busy night. Notably, at that point in the night, it wasn't even 9:00 p.m., the restaurant was mostly empty, and they had to go into the back to get him. "Busy" simply wasn't a reasonable explanation. The manager offered to refund our entire bill. I specifically asked him to make sure our server still received his tip because he had done everything right. Looking at my credit card statement, however, the entire charge was refunded, meaning our excellent server apparently lost his tip despite the fact that none of this was his fault. That was incredibly disappointing. When I got home, after speaking with my niece (see note below), I called the restaurant again before they closed and spoke with the same manager. I told him I wanted to hear from the general manager. Although he told me the GM was off until Monday, he assured me the GM would still call me on Saturday. As of now, 5pm on Saturday, I still have not heard from anyone. One final detail: after we left, my niece had to pull over on the side of the road to vomit before she could make it home. Whether that can ever be proven to be related to our meal or not (I absolutely believe it was), it's part of the overall experience we had that evening, and I think it's worth mentioning. This review isn't because mistakes happened. Mistakes happen in every restaurant. It's because, in the course of one meal, we were served a cracked glass, improperly prepared seafood, and received no meaningful response from management despite multiple opportunities to make things right. Throughout the entire evening, my niece and I remained polite. We never raised our voices, demanded anything, or caused a scene. We were simply hoping someone from management would acknowledge what had happened and show that they cared. Instead, we had to ask to speak with a manager ourselves, follow up afterward, and still never heard from the general manager as promised. The only reason the evening wasn't even worse was because our server handled everything with professionalism, kindness, and genuine concern. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can't recommend Tavolino. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because the issues themselves were concerning, but the complete lack of management accountability was what ultimately turned an unfortunate meal into a one-star experience. read more

Went for a quiet no frills Easter dinner & shopping with my daughter and absolutely loved this restaurant. It was nicely decorated, clean and the wait staff was excellent, very attentive and friendly. I have been hoping to try their gourmet pizzas and it didn't disappoint. We got the Mediterranean chicken pizza. It had a light white sauce base with greek seasoning, chicken and cheese. Then the pizza was covered in a greek salad including feta and all the typical salad ingredients. Never had a pizza like this but it was very good. Then we shared the 1/2 shareable dessert sampler as a holiday treat. That was also delicious and a fun idea. We stopped in here with our family on a busy Friday night and despite having a party of six, we were seated immediately. Which was a nice surprise. The location is very convenient, and the restaurant has a casual upscale feel-nice without being stuffy. Service was very attentive and friendly throughout our visit. The food was excellent, and I had a hard time deciding what to order. I went with the pepper chicken mascarpone - creamy, satisfying and flavorful. For my personal taste, it could have used a bit more heat, as I tend to prefer spicier dishes. I added some red pepper flakes to bring it up to the spice lever I enjoy. Everyone else ordered something different, from sandwiches and pizza to the short rid ravioli, and there wasn't a single disappointment at the table. They offer both half-size and full-sized portions of some of the entrees, which is a great option. Even so, the portions were very generous-just about all of us took leftovers home. Prices felt moderate for the area, and I left full and happy. There's also a good wine selection and full bar, making this one of the better options at Patriot Place. Couple of friends and I stopped in before concert. It was mad crazy due to the event at Gillette. I got the Mediterranean salad with steak tips, salad was fresh and steak was cooked to my liking. My husband and I went to a movie this afternoon at Patriot Place; after we went to Tavolinos for a late lunch. We asked for outdoor seating, where there were only two other tables occupied; not surprising, it was any around 2:30. We were seated and given our menus, and waited about 20 minutes. While the other tables were being served, not one person came over and even gave us water. My husband went inside and told the hostess, she apologized and said someone would be out. Again, the server for the other two tables was attending his customers, nobody even looked our way. We gave up and left. We told the hostess we were done being ignored and going elsewhere. She mumbled "sorry", that's it. Didn't offer to get the manager, nothing. I'll never go back and I'll definitely make sure to post on my social media accounts how rude and indifferent they are. The restaurant seemed clean and warm. We were seated in one of the back rooms since we were a slightly larger group. Our waiter was very friendly throughout the service. Over all, I thought the food was okay. Out of everything we ordered I was glad that I ordered the pizza. It was good. The calamari arrived warm and I wish it had slightly more flavor too. Last summer, my friends and I went here for dinner. We ordered the crispy fried calamari, bolognese, chicken cutlet pizza, and spaghetti and clams. The calamari came with hot cherry peppers with a side of aioli. It was good but not very crispy. The chicken cutlet pizza was thin and delicious. It came with chicken, crispy bacon, parmesan cream, smoked gouda, and mozzarella cheese. The bolognese consisted of tagliatelle with a rich beef and pork sauce. It was savory. The spaghetti and clams came with littleneck clams in a white wine and butter sauce. It was good as well. For dessert, we got the tiramisu and it came with chocolate chips on top. It was delicious! Dropped by for an early dinner at Tavolino on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. The restaurant is filled with TVs and patrons. The atmosphere was lively and semi loud. There's a bar and opened pizza kitchen. We ordered truffle fries (portion was huge), charcuterie board and clams with pasta. Everything we ordered was surprisingly tasty. Dinner for four for a special occasion (high school graduation) on a Sunday evening. Very nice setting, but the restaurant was packed with others celebrating high school graduation nearby. Staff were attentive and always around, even when busy with other customers. Started w calamari and chicken wings. Shared a Tuscan 12" pizza, a Mediterranean salad, and others had a Bolognese. The dishes were pretty good, fresh, flavorful. The pizza was special. Salad was just standard and the Bolognese was good. Tavolino is Terrific! I used to think that restaurants that got under 4.0 for reviews were not worth going to until I had the pleasure of eating at Tavolino this past weekend with friends. I don't mean to be a snob or anything I just know good food and don't want to be disappointed because it has happened before. I also know going out to eat can get very expensive so I need to be choosy sometimes, but not all the time. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to eat here because it was awesome. From our server Zackary to my delicious meal and their incredible wine list, it was a delightful evening. I ordered their Chicken Piccata without the mashed potatoes and got a Mediterranean salad instead. I have had Chicken Piccata before but it has been a long time and I forgot how much I enjoy it. The sauce was splendid I could've licked the bowl LOL and the roasted zucchini with it made it super healthy and different. I ate it all it was too delicious not to. My husband had the Veal Parm which was also good. My friends had the Bolognese and pistachio-crusted salmon which they said was also good. Thanks, Tavolino for a terrific time, I know we will be back for sure. Especially for another glass of that excellent Super Tuscan. Please go check them out at Patriot Place. You will love it here. The service was very bad, no one even took our orders (no water, no acknowledgement - it was not busy here) until 15 minutes in. We tried getting someone's attention, but no one even looked our way. Also, we sat by the pizza making station and there's cross contamination for all the ingredients. I saw someone use the same gloves they touched raw sausage and put it into the different veggies. I don't know if that's the standard way of making pizza, so maybe that is how all pizza is made. I don't have any food allergies/restrictions so it doesn't affect me, but just something to think about if you do. As for the food, pretty good. The espresso martini was very good, tastes how it should, no complaints. The truffle fries were piping hot and covered in truffle oil and garlic. We got the hot honey pepperoni, but changed it to have the tomato sauce. The tomato sauce has pretty big chunks of tomato, some people are a fan and some aren't. Nice decent sized Italian restaurant. We stopped for lunch, I had a small caesar salad and the gluten free tartufo pizza. They lost a star due to me asking for gluten free salad but it had croutons on it, and I added anchovy for $1, which were left off. The pizza was a great flavor combination, the gluten free crust was just ok, as most are. I was happy they had a gluten free option. It was a pricey lunch but that's expected at a location like this, and their large menu with several size options made for a good lunch or dinner spot. I would go back. read more

Booked dinner as I was entertaining a business guest staying at the nearby hotel. For appetizer I selected the fried calamari which was rather chewy while the fried cherry peppers are pungent and unpleasant. The dish was over salted. For entree I had the steak tips with risotto and asparagus. The steak was so tough as the outside was like shoe leather. The risotto was fine but the asparagus was more like overcooked threads. No steak sauce or Au jus either. With a couple of beers it came to $75 each and was extremely poor. Guess pizza is their limit of competence. read more

We've been here before and always thought it was excellent as far as food, service and the comfortable atmosphere. We went there for dinner on a Wednesday night, party of 6. We were put at a round table in the back were it's more of a room for private parties but it was fine. After a bit, we were able to put in drink orders which arrived promptly. Then things started to go off. We had to flag our waiter (Randy) down for some bread. Once we got it he said "just out of the oven"... not! Cold in the middle and hard. Our food came out shortly after the bread, we all liked our meals. Chicken parm was delicious, pizza was ok, veal saltimbocca was good too. BUT here's the thing. After our first round of drinks and food was delivered, our waiter was MIA forever. One of us finally had to get up and search the restaurant for him to get a second round. We probably would have gotten a 3rd but it happened again and we were done. We got a dessert dish to share as we were celebrating a bday which was kind of wrecked bc of the service. This WAS our go to for pizza and salad. Not anymore. I'm not sure what has happened. The pizza cheese is now much too salty. (Maybe they are using a mixture.). Salads consistently come out missing ingredients. We always ask for our pizza to be cooked with oregano - they forgot!!!. Our waiter was great and found the ONLY oregano shaker in the restaurant for us. How does an Italian restaurant not have oregano? Came here for a birthday celebration on Presidents' Day. Our party of 10 had reservations in which the table was ready in the back where other larger groups were seated. We shared a variety of appetizers including the meatballs, calamari, fried cauliflower, and artichoke. An order of meatballs consists of three served over a bead of what I believed to be polenta topped with cheese in a clay pot. They tasted good but could have used some more browning on each side to add some varied texture and color. Calamari was also decent but not anything unique with the typical thin batter and fried vinegar peppers. Personally, I wasn't crazy over the dipping creamy sauce on the side either. I enjoyed the fried cauliflower since they were crispy and coated in a bbq/teriyaki sauce resembling mini chicken drumsticks. Artichokes we're literally artichokes hearts with the stems partially cut in half. We were expecting a dip so to say the least, we were disappointed since the only flavoring was a lemon aioli. I ordered the Prosciutto and Fig Pizza (small) which was enough to satiate my tastebuds but also felt like it was missing something. Maybe more figs or a little truffle oil to help the everything together would have helped. Waitress was friendly and great at checking in on all of us. Hubs and I came here Saturday night for a double date. I loved the green, backlit vines over the bar and the neat light fixtures. Service throughout the evening was spot on. Cocktails, to start, were tasty and refreshing. After much discussion, we settled on the meatballs appetizer. The meatballs were seasoned beautifully, the red sauce was generous and delicious, and the ricotta blew my mind! I only wish they had served some bread because there were only three meatballs and at least a cup of sauce and cheese leftover that I am sure the table would have been happy to sop up! Entrees were: pistachio salmon, short rib ravioli, bolognese, and veal saltimbocca. Everyone was super pleased with their dishes. I appreciated that some entrees had the option for a half order (which I opted for). My veal was cooked perfectly and tender. However, the sauce lacked flavor, and some of my noodles were clumped. Hubs decided to go all in and went for dessert! He had the chocolate ricotta pie/cake. I snuck a bite, and mmm, silky smooth and just the right amount of sweet! This time, the service at the bar was unprofessional, and the staff was not customer friendly. The interaction was not positive and frankly fairly rude. It was not the service that you traditionally expect at a bar The food was not great and one meal had to be sent back to the kitchen And the server did not do her best to offer another meal or to apologize for the watery sauce. Took a friend out for dinner to celebrate her cancer free diagnosis. Used to frequent this establishment about 10 years ago and considered it to be upscale...at least it was back then. First negative experience (big red flag) were the filthy glass doors as we entered, obviously had not been cleaned in weeks. Second negative experience was the lack of professional attention from waitstaff, they all seemed like high schoolers. Table was haphazardly "set up" waiter put napkins and dinnerware in middle of table instead of by each place of us. My fork was completely bent, the tines were going in all different directions. Ordered apps, they were just average. Ordered dinner and both dinners were absolutely pathetic. Looked and tasted as if they had been microwaved. Really can't say enough good things about Tavolino. The food and service is top notch. They can handle a post Patriots game crowd with the same professionalism and quality as a slow weekday.
