Initially I spoke to Roberto over the phone very helpful over the phone when I arrived today I showed up to Ewing and was greeted by both guys at the front desk and Jack was one of those guys he was able to help me out and went above and beyond to help and answer my questions he also helped me look for a Herbicide to kill POA Annua unfortunately they didn't have anything in store that would kill POA but he went out of his way to see if there's something else he can order and get me a price if possible with a call back. All past experiences in this store have been very positive. Not today. I had some drip irrigation needs (we installed almost 10 years ago) and had a question about extending a main line outward around a tree that had gotten tangled in roots because it was too close. Basically, I needed to insert a section of pipe into the existing. The first guy I spoke with didn't seem to understand at all, which is unusual for Ewing. So I asked him if maybe there was someone else who might. So after I re-explain to the next guy behind the counter, I quickly realize he'd really rather not be bothered helping anyone. Seriously. He seemed as though he was just too lazy and disinterested to go down the isle and show me what I needed to buy, and then when I asked him some questions about how to do it he seemed irritated and short about it and he was just plain rude. Long story short, this guy who made sure never to let go of the coffee container in his hand rung me up, and as soon as he gave me my receipt, he couldn't wait to get back to watching TV! As I was leaving, disgusted, I saw the sign hanging inside the entrance stating the 1st part of the Ewing experience - "service with a smile" Ha! read more

Called to ask about availability of replacement parts for common irrigation valve. Staff was very rude over the phone. Regardless, they don't carry such simple replacement part (can easily be found in other stores) and suggested I replace the whole piece, which is ridiculously bad advice. That would cost about 100 times more than replacing the broken part (a simple o-ring) and involve hours of extra of labor. read more

I've lived in Glendale for over 20 years and was just introduced to Ewing. While gardening I damaged a PVC pipe; my neighbor lucky came by to investigate and showed my how to fix broken PVC easier and quicker. The whole thing is Sergio introduced me to this great place where they have everything you'll need from landscaping lights to fertilizer. The service was also great. read more

Have been coming here for some time. My experience is hit or miss depending on who is working behind the counter. Jack is great. He always goes out of his way to help serve customers and I honesty believe he enjoys his job. He is knowledgeable and if he does not know is he honest and upfront. Freddy on the other hand has always been very conceding, rushes you out the door literally, offers no help on the product just says ''you should read the Manuel'' c'mon really that's the best you have to offer? For example, a man was helping advise me to purchase some very expensive uplighting, for a project I was working on. I spent close to $2,200 on these lights and some other materials. But for the last half hour prior to closing all I could hear him yell is how soon they were to closing. I was the only customer in the store. I arrived around 4:30pm and they were closing at 5pm but I was making a big purchase and needed help. Every 5 minutes, Freddy would make a comment to the man who was helping me with how soon they were to closing. Obviously, trying to push us and push a customer out the door. He even turned off the interior lights, shut down all the computers, closed the door and i was expecting any second for him to ask me to leave. I understand traffic is heavy in the area but it was not even 5pm yet. It was only 4:57pm and he was already turning all of the of the lights off. Cmon really. If it was not for most of the guys at this store who go beyond the norm to help regular joes like myself, I would not return. Freddy, had very poor customer service and it appears he does not like his job. I always leave shaking my head with any interaction I have with him. If you dont not know about the product please don't advise customers and lead them in the wrong direction. read more

WOW! Go here. Go Now! The guys who work there (Jack and Zack) are very knowledgeable and have saved me countless time and money. They cater to contractors but are open to the public. The irrigation supplies here are superior to the ones you find at the big box stores. It's worth the money. They will special order items if they do not have it. Go in for a laugh and some coffee and come out with the knowledge you made the BEST decision for all your irrigation needs. Did I say I love this spot? I do. I have mixed feelings about Ewing Irrigation (EI). If you're in the irrigation business and have an account with EI, maybe they're okay. But if you're a consumer buying retail, beware. Because I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct rebuild kit for my very old Champion actuator, I asked about the return policy and was told "30 days." What I wasn't told, and can be only found upon reading the voluminous fine print on both sides of the receipt, was that EI offers only a store credit to customers who pay cash. This is probably okay for people in the irrigation business who have an account with EI, but probably not okay for someone who does not. Although I was lucky enough to have paid with a credit card, I could just as easily have paid cash and not been eligible for a refund. When I asked the sales person who issued my refund why customers aren't informed of this policy up front, he didn't seem to care. Also, I was informed that EI has a two-tier pricing system; one for business-to-business, the other for retail consumers. I called ahead, and they stuck to the wholesale price after I arrived. But, otherwise the price would have been higher. read more
