    Perle Haggard Pils

What a cool place. Love the open layout, the general vibe, the extensive drink list, and the variety of food! I was visiting the area for Yelp work, and this was the place the esteemed community manager of Albuquerque, Mia, decided to take me for our "welcome to my city" dinner ... as I like to call them. Every CM has that can't fail place that they bring other CMs, and this was hers. Started off perusing their beer list, and went for the "Perle Haggard" pilsner, which was light and refreshing, golden colored as it could be. Honestly, with the layer of foam and the light, it looked ready for a beer commercial. Really nice beverage. For apps, we split some carne adovada egg rolls, as Mia said that particular meat is a NM specialty, and I'm all about getting as much local flavor as I can while I can. As a bit of a bbq snob for NC, I couldn't help but compare this shredded pork to that back home just with a more sizeable kick which I enjoyed. While NC still rules the pork scene, this was very tasty, and anything inside an egg roll is going to be just that much better. For dinner, I decided to not hold back, and go straight for the chipotle ribs. These are beef ribs with a chipotle dry rub. They were tender, spicy with a little tang, gentle pull right off the bone, no unrendered fat giving an unpleasant mouth feel. All good, and would reorder. Great meal, would come back!

Just visited this place as we are about to move away from NM because we heard it is great. Unfortunately, we had very mediocre food and the beer my husband ordered stated it is a Mexican lager with salt, but it had no salt included. Ordered the giant chicken sandwich, $18 for this sandwich, and it was not giant at all. It was thin, dry, flavorless and such a small amount of chicken. Supposed to have garlic butter fries, but they were plain battered fries. I didn't even take a photo because it looked so sad. My husband even contemplated ordering another menu item because he was still hungry after that sandwich. He didn't due to the amount of each plate. Our friend's food looked fantastic and she said it was delicious and the most steak she's ever been served in the bowl before, and she was also disappointed in our small chicken sandwiches. I cannot recommend.

I follow a famous chef who was on the food network and anytime I hear that chef Marc Quiñones is opening a new restaurant I always try it out. We don't have many world famous chef's in our little town of Albuquerque so it's always a treat to eat this kind of food here. This was our groups first time going to ex novo in downtown and let me tell you, the experience was phenomenal. Every single meal was delicious. Some people might say the portions are small, but this is how fine dining is supposed to be, it's about the flavors and textures and being able to try more than one thing. We had the wings which were some of the best I've ever had. And the egg rolls, my god they were definitely the best egg rolls I've ever had at any Asian place, kuddos on that. The elk carne asada is surprisingly not gamey like you would expect, and it's soft and tender and delicious. I was pretty shocked! We also ordered the eggnog tres leches cheesecake which originally sounded odd but we knew what to expect here so we ordered it knowing it would be good and wow it was one of our favorite deserts in Albuquerque now. Some of the food came out late, but we didn't even complain and they took one of the smaller items off our bill. This left a lasting impression on me that they value service and their customers satisfaction. The ambiance was really nice and I'll be honest we are definitely going back. We already made our next reservation!

Beer that has prickly pear must say it was pretty yummy
    Krissy H.

Must say the beer that had prickly pear in it was quite delicious. My green chili soup at way too much corn in it. It was more like a corn stew. My husband had a skirt steak meal that was delicious. Service was good and it was a nice place.

We went for the music!!! The Amazing Martini Tones were playing there and it was our first time at Ex Novo. It was an amazing new place in downtown Abq on west Central's 700 block. Parking was easy next to the restaurant. It was a Tuesday night and the place was packed inside and out. I think half the ppl came to hear the Martini Tones since they're really good and popular in Albuquerque. It had nice indoor and outside dining with an outdoor stage area for entertainment. Game tables inside, lounge seating plus dining tables, nice bar for drinks or craft beers, and a great menu. We each ordered something different and were all pleased w our choices. It was a little pricey. (See pics) A chorizo w pasta, arroz con pollo, a steak, and hamburger w crispy fries. All winners!!! Our server was very good and had been there since it first opened. We all tipped him well. I'd definitely go back.

I don't know how to say goodbye I don't know where I would start to even try I never learned Can't tell you why But I don't know how to say goodbye... We settled into Ex Novo for late lunch brews.. The Lass enjoyed a pint of.. "Sumo Suit Yourself" A crisp and refreshing rice lager conditioned on white tea for notes of jasmine, rose petals, and peach rings. A Delicious Crisp Brew..:) The Lad washed away his analytical thoughts w. a pint of.. "Liquid Sweater" A Winter Ale of rich caramel and dark fruit notes. w. a slightly spicy herbal finish. A very enjoyable brew..:) We munched on "crispy potatoes" and "asparagus calabacitas" Perfect Pairings..:) And bang, bang, boom, boom And the emptiness of all the beer glasses that are gone..A Bang, bang, boom, boom song Best, Avram Post Yoakim Jr.

Oh, my goodness, we had a fabulous meal at Ex Novo's downtown location! We ate upstairs in the Bitter Nun, their mezzanine bar. It's a little dark so I didn't get good pictures, but our food was beautifully plated and delicious. Service was attentive without being overbearing. I had the churrasco steak and potatoes - skirt steak, twice-cooked potatoes, a tomato and corn relish, and tomato coulis. The steak was tender, beautifully cooked, and the blend of everything was fantastic. My husband really enjoyed his ribs, paired with a green chile agave glaze and Anson Mills grits. The Bitter Nun features liquor options that are a little fancier than the downstairs choices, so I decided to try a De Guzman, made with mezcal, Alma Tepec (a flavorful, lightly spicy chile liqueur), pineapple, and piloncillo. It was a little smoky and really tasty. My husband paired his ribs with Ex Novo's Perle Haggard pilsner. I'm so glad Ex Novo is downtown and offers such delicious food and drink!

Stopped by Ex Novo Brewing Company in downtown Albuquerque during our recent trip, and it is by far one of my favorite breweries in the area! Street parking at a meter is your best bet. There's a paid parking lot across the street, but the hourly rates are a bit high, so I'd recommend avoiding it if possible. Once you arrive, you'll check in with the host to be seated. The vibes inside are absolutely on point--modern, welcoming, and just a great spot to enjoy a drink. I ordered a flight to try a variety of their beers and was impressed. My picks included: * Mass Ascension (West Coast IPA): Crisp, hoppy, and a solid choice. * Cactus Wins the Lottery (Sour): A unique, tangy delight. * Ex Novo Mexican Lager with Lime: Refreshing and perfect for a laid-back sip. * Twice in a Lifetime (West Coast IPA): A standout with bold flavors. The Twice in a Lifetime beer was my favorite. I can't wait to return next time I'm in the area.

Ex Novo is on the top of my list for places to eat in Albuquerque! I learned about Ex Novo after seeing Executive Chef Marc Quiñones compete on Hell's Kitchen, and I couldn't wait to check it out. Ex Novo is located in downtown Albuquerque, and there's limited street parking with a paid parking lot across the street. My friend and I walked in on a Friday night, and we were quoted an hour wait; however, we only waited about ten minutes before bar seating opened up. First impressions were that Ex Novo is hot, new, and a popular destination! Inside is very modern, and I loved the mural on the accent wall. I ordered a flight before digging into a couple small plates. Out of my four pours, the Silk Pajama Day Hazy IPA was my favorite, and I'd probably pass on the others. Not the strongest start; however, the food was incredible! I've never had elk before, and the meat paired with the salted caramel and chimichurri made for the perfect bite! Worth coming back for.

We returned to Ex Novo for brunch and I am happy to report that now they have a refreshing and cloudy wheat beer. Their menu has changed with a few less items than during our first visit. Their adovada egg rolls were consistently great. Unfortunately, their burger was not as good as their copycat burger, even with the added green chile. Service was less frantic than last time, when they first started. However, we ordered the egg rolls as appetizers but our burgers came out first. Our server, to correct this mistake, gave us a good price cut. Overall, our experience was pleasant, with some gains (wheat beer option!) and some losses (the burger), keeping my rating at 4 stars.

Really glad to have these guys downtown, if we can't have Brixens back then this is a super solid alternative. They did a great job with the remodel. You would legit never know it used to be a tire shop and it's a move in the right direction for downtown overall. I'm not a beer drinker but they have cocktails and more alternatives so color me happy on that one. Food is good, on the pricier side but there are reasonable options. In my opinion the burger is big enough to share if you're not starving.

Such a great spot! It was lively, had nice decor, with open space and great service. We stopped in for dinner with some family and we all enjoyed it. We've always enjoyed their beers and were surprised to also find a full drink menu to enjoy. The Old Fashioned was on point! We ended up ordering a little of everything - a few different apps, burgers, plates - all of the food had great flavors throughout. The chef even came by during our dinner to see how everything was. Would definitely go back again.

I stumbled across this restaurant on a Clark. I wanted to try something different. I love the ambience. Clean and bright. There are tables outside also but I chose to stay inside. There was a little wait after we were seated but it wasn't too long. Traveling as often as I do, clean and interesting restrooms are important! I'll be back. I meant to snap my food but I'll just say that I loved their wings!
