I thanked Frank for his Navy service during Vietnam and we chatted about my service with the Army. I told him I was around to see my Dad coming from Virginia and that I volunteer full time now with the VFW to take of veterans in Virginia. very dissapointed this last time pick up,ordered italian grinder and antipasto salad,cost $20 with taxes ,but its actually much less on the menu,but i was asked if i wanted cheese for the antipasto salad and i said yes so i guess i was charged xtra for that but when i got my order i asked one of the workers behind the counter if the small container of cheese was in the bag since i was paying xtra just to make ssure and the worker said yes it is. well dumb me,i didnt check until i got home and sure enough no cheese. So that was the beginning of the dissapointment,so we called the owner and he said he would personally drive to my adress to deliver the cheese as i live less then 10 minutes away, well this didnt happen either,instead,a young delivery driver came and dropped off the little container of cheese,but this is when it became disturbing, when i removed the cover of the cheese container,i could see something brown almost a inch long just under the top layer of cheese and i took a picture of it for proof and still have no clue what it was but it was disgusting looking and it did not look like any meat either that might have fell in the plastic container.it ruined the supper and i just didnt have the energy to call back again as it was disturbing and upsetting the whole thing.in the past the pizza has always been good but this last time was a very bad experience. read more

I have only been to Excellent Pizza once and I had a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and took our "to go" order promptly. This place is definitely dated on the interior/exterior but it's clean and is a very casual atmosphere. The food was pretty good, the price was decent for what you would expect from a privately owned pizza parlor. Try the jalapeño poppers or Mac n cheese bites if you visit. Did some contractor work there in the kitchen place is gross! very greasy floors ! Filthy and dirty counter tops were they cook and prepare food! Employees weren't allowed to wash there hands after handling money and they complained they wanted to wash there hands after telling frank the owner if they can wash there hands he said no make pizza!! After seeing this with my own eyes i will never EAT ANYTHING FROM THERE ! Nothing looked to appealing anyway totally unsanitary!! And i definitely ain't doing any work there AGAIN! I was a long time resident of Somerset and this was the ONLY place in town to get good Pizza, Grinders and Fish & Chips. Many people in town over many years have worked for the Skarpos family and they are really great people. Like I said, this was the only place my parents ordered from in town and when I lived there it was the same for me and my family. Well, then it turned to crap. After the first time in probably 6 years ordering, I thought it would be the same but wasn't, got a cold barely cooked pizza and an attitude when I called back and told them to bring me a fresh one and take this one back. Eventually they gave me a new fresh hot pizza. I again ordered several more times after that and always had the same issues, attitudes when owners were not there taking calls or making the orders, just punk kids from town. I have not been back since because I simply do not want to deal with attitude or bad food agin. Maybe I will return but only when Frank or his Wife are making the food. The name says it all: excellent. The price points for the quality of food they serve is outstanding. I have not used them for delivery but the counter service is very good. You can sit at one of the tables and eat but it is better to just place the order, get the food, pay, and eat at home. I only say that because during the lunch or dinner rush it can get a little noisy. The only thing that prevents me from giving Frank and his family and employees a perfect score is the accuracy of the orders. You have to make sure you say "Extra Cheese" or "Light Tomato Sauce" emphatically otherwise you won't get enough cheese, too much sauce respectively. I have gone to Excellent pizza many many times. I am so disappointed in them. The owners a sweetheart but I have had an issue 4 times in a row! They never make my calzones correctly. I order buffalo chicken calzone I pay about $15/16 for it plus a tip & usually order a few other things as well. There's barely any chicken in it, they forget my buffalo sauce, they've completely burned it before & still sent it to me! When I called back because there was no buffalo sauce , they send sauce to my house instead of a new calzone made correctly. How hard is it to bake the sauce in? & I ordered a medium pizza & got a large. Wonderful. I am now done with spending my money there. Their pizza is delicious but they are horrible at making calzones & taking the order correctly. Not happy at all. read more

The reason why I give it three stars is because when we order the food he says it will be ready in 15-20 minutes. When I go pick up the food it's already been 25 minutes and the food is still not done and I have to wait there for a good 5-15 minutes and what my family orders is usually 3 sandwiches and a Greek salad. This has been happening for almost a year where we get there and our food is never done and we haven't ordered there in awhile because last time he said 15-20 minutes I get there to pick up the food and he says it's not ready yet another 5 minutes..well that 5 minutes turned into a half and hour. Don't get me wrong the food is excellent but I don't understand why this keeps happening,staying away for awhile and hopefully when we order from them again we actually get our food on time.
