The perfect place for FRINE! A glass of red wine and their Parmesan garlic french fries are perfect. We haven't been here in a while, but there was live music tonight, which was so fun! We returned to the exchange once again and it was an unforgettable evening. The evening was nothing short of magical and the weather absolutely stunning. Our amazing server Taylor greeted us and seated us right away outside on their beautiful patio where the ambiance was perfect. We kicked off the evening with a chilled bottle of prosecco, paired with the mouthwatering Cuban sandwich and delicious pasta. The bar has been there in this exact spot since the late 1800's, shared by the bartender of 9 years, actually 8 years and 11+ months. Great piece of history came with the meal, no charge. My husband and I had dinner at Exchange on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 around 7:00pm. Exchange Food & Drink is located in the corner of a strip mall. There is plenty of parking in the mall's parking lot, and I would say it is pretty handicapped accessible. The restaurant seems to be trying to be an elevated bar and restaurant, but I would say it is a fairly typical bar and restaurant, pretty much what you would expect. The restaurant is family friendly. The bar area has a couple of TVs, showing sports, and you can generally see them from most of the dining area as well. The bar area has high top tables, and the restaurant area has mostly booths with a few regular tables. The restaurant was fairly empty so we were seated right away. The ambiance was nothing super special, but it was nice, and it was clean. The lighting was dimmed, but was still very bright enough to see the menu well, and see everything else. There appeared to be a patio, but I didn't go look at it. Our server was quite friendly, efficient, answered questions well, and had a good sense of humour. He took our drink order and the drinks came out quickly (we were not drinking alcohol that night so I can't comment on the promptness of that). My husband ordered the patty melt and I ordered the cobb salad. The food was delivered fairly quickly as well. My husband said the patty melt was good, he ordered it rare and it was perfectly rare. It had thousand island dressing on it, which was a nice touch and tasted good. His side was baked beans, which were a little too Smokey for his taste, but good. He also had a side salad which was good. The cobb salad was good, pretty much what you would expect. The balsamic vinegar dressing was very good. Portions were ample, not too much, not too little. Payment was a little awkward. They brought an electric payment system to your table, which is fine, but the server watched every step, presumably to give instructions if needed, but he continued to watch when you were giving the tip, which I found to be awkward and a little rude. He did say thank you right away, so that was nice I guess. When we were done eating and had paid we were not rushed at all to get out. In general a pleasant experience, but nothing special. read more

Server was dumb as dirt. She asked how I wanted my turkey burger cooked. No one does that the risk for salmonella is high if you do that. My spouse who ordered beef was never asked how she wanted her burger cooked which is usually the food item this is asked about. Food was cold...orders were mixed up manager was an ass too.... won't be back. EVER. They tried to charge me for food that wasn't ordered and even argued about it. Enjoyed a stop in to Exchange. First note, you can reserve a table thru Yelp; if you choose "reserve" on their website, it prompts the phone number to call, which also works just fine! There were plenty of intriguing options on the menu and they have a special for the week menu as well. The specials menu has something under each of the regular menu categories, which I thought was pretty neat. Ended up getting the pumpernickel melt (basically a patty melt, but on a pumpernickel bun instead of rye) and the wild rice soup. Both were excellent. My husband and I came in for lunch the other day and the food was nothing short of disappointing. For the price and how long we had to wait to receive it, the food should at least be good. We love the exchange. It's a restaurant within walking distance and they have weekly menu that always have very eye catching selection. The portion of their dishes are huge, we rarely go home without any takeout unless we order less items to share. Their fries tho!! It's so good! Edit: Grabbed myself a "crunch wrap" burger to go from The Exchange in New Brighton With that tortilla fold job and everything, it definitely does a good job copying the Taco Bell crunch wrap, but it's far better with a nice juicy burger in there instead. If you're ever up in the area, give The Exchange a try. Solid menu all around, they have good fries with all their burgers and sandwiches. We live only about a mile away so we go often, and the constantly changing weekly specials menu helps keep the food consistently new and exciting. read more

First time at the Exchange at noon on a Tuesday. Wasn't super busy. I was the only person sitting at the bar. Waitress/bartender was cruising around the place, trying to be efficient, She was cheerful and friendly I'll give her that. Had to wait a bit to order. There appeared to be one other server and I think a manager, which I didn't get a vibe that he was really interested in being there. I ordered a simple BLT with Chips. $13 - There was NO "T" and the chips were mostly small broken pieces but ok flavor. the sandwich was supposed to have "Chive Aioli" all I could see and taste was Mayo. The minimal Lettuce was shredded and soggy from the mayo. Very little bacon. Bread was just "ok" - the server eventually came and asked if all ok, I shared that there wasn't any tomato on the sandwich. She was surprised and joked stating something like "after all that is a major component of a BLT" She didn't really ask if I wanted her to go get me some tomatoes, But I helped her out and said it was too late for tomatoes. I already ate half of it by the time I was able to connect with her. I got my bill which did not appear to have any sort of discount for the lack of tomatoes. At least a buck would have been acknowledgement of the mistake. If in that area again I may consider trying it one more time and see how they do. Not holding high expectations. read more

My wife and I arrived just after 1:30PM on a Friday afternoon. It was quiet. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to arrive. We ordered beers and ice water. Another 10 minutes for the water. And another 15 to get the beers. So, we are in 35 minutes so far. Ordered our sandwiches. After 30 minutes waiting for them and seeing others get their food who ordered well after us, we left cash on the table for the beers and walked out. During the interval between ordering our sandwich and leaving our waitress did not stop by even once to let us know the order status, or check whether we needed another beer. I like my pizza but wished I carried my Mike's hot honey with me as it would have been the perfect balance to the rich mushroom flavor. Dipping it in their great ranch was a good option too though. Lastly, was the Umami Bomb Pizza with Smoked Chicken added per the waitress recommendation. This was a very good pizza. Not sure I've had anything quite like it. Was a little earthy, but smooth. February 1st, 2025 I had reserved the big room for a family gathering of about 30 people. They had it all set up with white table clothes and menus and the TV was set to watch a fire in a fireplace. Immediately I was wonderfully impressed. There was a table with silverware, glass water glasses and a couple pitchers of ice. Again I was very impressed. When our guests started to arrive they also started to order food and drinks, we would randomly order our dinners, our server was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. The food was served hot and delicious. I would highly recommend The Exchange for any large event. We were extremely pleased with the ambiance, the food, the servers, and the attention we received.
