I brought my 2007 Mercedes E350--with over 217,000 miles on it--to Exclusive Motors with a persistent cylinder misfire. With an older, high-mileage Mercedes, I was fully prepared for the diagnosis to become complicated, expensive, or both. Instead, I found something increasingly rare in automotive repair: complete transparency. From the beginning, they were straightforward and refreshingly no-nonsense. There was no fear-based sales pitch, no attempt to use the age or mileage of the car as an excuse to manufacture a laundry list of repairs, and absolutely no sense that they were looking for ways to inflate the bill. Then there was Vince, the technician working on my car. Vince didn't disappear behind a shop door and eventually return with a verdict. He walked me through what he was doing, what he was testing, what he was seeing, and why it mattered. At one point, he literally allowed me to clear off a chair inside the service bay so I could sit and watch him work. Think about that for a moment. A repair shop confident enough in its technicians and its practices to essentially say, "Come watch us diagnose your car." That's transparency. The problem ultimately turned out to be a failed ignition coil. They diagnosed it, replaced the offending coil, cleared and rechecked the codes, and sent me on my way with the car running properly again. No parts cannon. No unnecessary repairs. No upselling six coils when one was bad. My entire bill--including the diagnosis, replacement coil and tax--was $315.51. But as pleased as I was with the price, that's actually not why I'm writing this review. I'm writing it because Michele and Vince earned my trust. I own multiple older vehicles, including another Mercedes, and finding a shop that combines technical knowledge with integrity, patience, communication and genuine respect for the customer is invaluable. Exclusive Motors didn't simply fix my car. They allowed me to understand the diagnosis while they were making it. That is how you build a long-term customer. Michele and Vince: thank you. Exclusive Motors is a shop in Mira Mesa, which is north of San Diego, east of La Jolla and they specialize in repairing Mercedes Benz vehicles using MBZ parts. This shop and it's owners Michel and son Marco were highly recommended to me by a local San Diego person and I'm so glad for the referral. Evidently, my MBZ had a fuel leak, which I can smell from the outside and inside of the car, a serious diagnostic problem. My regular mechanic in LA was unavailable and I didn't know anyone in the San Diego area I can trust. I don't trust MBZ dealer shop mechanics, because they overcharge and they are motivated to make pressure me to purchase a new MBZ and I'm not interested in all the above. Luckily, I met an owner of a MBZ at a local event in La Jolla and he recommended Michel's shop. Michel has been in the business for decades and has lots of positive reviews from clients. The posted Yelp reviews were mostly positive and I contacted the shop via Yelp for an appointment and an estimate quote. Michel and Marco was courteous, helpful and patient, during all the calls and subsequent meeting. The issue was repaired and the cost was reasonably fair so far my car is now running like the beast it is. For an additional charge, this shop was also able to power buff my headlights crystal clear, they look perfect. Because the overall work needed to complete the job would take almost all day, this shop had another MBZ for me to rent and use, so I can take off and go about my day, which was convenient. This shop also has a good inventory of used MBZs for sale. This shop does get busy and can be back logged, so I suggest calling to schedule an appointment first. Knowing an excellent Mercedes Benz mechanic locally I can trust is a relief and definitely earns my recommendation. read more

Took my car in for a brake pad change as they were squeaking, thier price was very competitive and i liked how clean of a shop they had. A problem arised when i didnt have a Lugnut for the new rims i had gotten. Mitchell (the owner of the shop) took the time to drive me to the discount tire down the street and i picked up the lugnut that discount had forgotten to give me. After we had that piece, it was a very fast brake pad change and i was very pleased with the quality of the work. I will definitley be a repeat customer and i highly recommend this shop. 5 STARS!!! I was referred to this shop by a family member to take my Mercedes. First thing I noticed was how clean the shop was. Never seen a mechanic shop so impeccably clean. The customer service I received from Michel was outstanding. He was very informative and took the time to show me the oil problem with my car. The reason I took my vehicle there. The alternator had to be replaced as well. This I knew. Anyhow, new alternator, new car battery, fix oil leak problem, and he even changed the back tail light I purchased somewhere else all for a reasonable price. Very happy with price! I was quoted $1100 at the auto place where I bought my car. I knew it was a ripoff. Mercedes dealer would have been triple the price. I inherited an old Benz from my mother, and for 25 years she insisted on taking it to a particular dealer. As time went on and the car aged, it became apparent that mechanics there were less and less interested in or even qualified to repair "old-school" Benzes. What I wanted is an independent mechanic who knows these cars. Through a fellow Benz owner I got a recommendation to visit Michel at Exclusive, and I'm quite glad I did. Here's why: - Michel has been involved with Mercedes for decades. He's a former racer and Mercedes salesman, and he owns many Benzes of his own. He sold them at one point but decided he was more interested in repairing them. He knows the Benz business. - I trust him completely. My car has now been in twice for some rather extensive suspension and fuel system work, and not only does he recommend things, he takes the time (if you're interested in knowing) to explain why. If you're game, he'll often give you a bit of an education about your car and why something needs to be fixed. He shows you what's not working. And why. He's not pushy. He gives you your options; you pick what suits you best. - His shop is immaculate; you can eat off the floor, yet it's always full of cars. My car leaks a bit of oil, and I feel guilty whenever she drops a bit. It isn't ten minutes before someone is wiping up the spill. - If you own an older model Benz, Michel knows these cars. Their idiosyncracies. What needs to be fixed. And when. What you must do, and what you can wait to do. And even whether it's worth investing the money to repair. - His prices are reasonable, and what he explains makes sense. I feel like I get good value for what I pay for--even if at times it's a bigger check. - He cares. This is important. He has invested a lot in his shop and in competent mechanics who know how to fix them. - He keeps you informed. Once he gets to know you a bit he can make recommendations based on what kind of owner you are. For example, he took the initiative to order replacement sun visor clips--something I was looking for on eBay. They were installed for a reasonable price, but not before he checked with me to make sure I was OK with it. In summary, I love my old Benz. I put more into than it's probably worth because I love it. And I'm really glad there are mechanics out there like Michel and his crew who appreciate the passion some drivers have for their Benzes. Not only have I taken my car here for several years, but I was reminded yesterday why I continue to do so. I had a part replaced a week ago and afterwards had other problems with my car that seemed totally unrelated. I brought in my car and it was discovered that the Mercedes new part (from the MB Dealership) that was replaced the previous week was defective, resulting in my new problem. Not only did Michel drive back to the MB Dealership for a new part, but replaced it while I waited. There was no additional charge to me (warranty work) even though Exclusive "ate the cost" of their mechanic's time to see what was wrong and replace it. A shop doesn't get any better than that!
