Even though I was next in line, the cashier helped him first. I told the cashier that I was next, but she replied that his order was quick. I explained that it didn't matter because I had been waiting in line and my order was quick too--I was only buying an ice cream for my child. She was rude, seemed to not care that we had waited our turn, and acted like it was perfectly acceptable to let someone cut in line. It was disappointing and disrespectful. Because Dwight's is still closed I stopped by here a few weeks ago craving "Strips & Cheese" The girl at the counter told me they were out of cheese. WHAT!! That's a first for me! The girl at the counter was clueless, I even asked her if the owner was in and she said no, then I asked if the owner was aware that they didn't have any cheese because I have met the owner several times and I know that he would fix this situation right away. The girl at the counter just shrugged her shoulders and said nothing. Yesterday, the wife and kids went to the beach and again we stoped in for some strips. There was no line to order but there were 5 or 6 unhappy people waiting for their food. 25 minutes later we got our food while we watched a girl texting on her phone while food sat under the heat lamps. I asked the girl for an extra strips sauce and some BBQ sauce for my kids chicken fingers. The girl brought me a cup of salsa, like she filled up a Coca-Cola cup to the rim with the dipping sauce and then said they were out of barbecue sauce and all they had left was one side of ranch. Me and another customer looked at each other and then started talking about how bad the service. That other customer told me that Jack's lost their lease and that this was the last summer that this place was going to be here. I asked the employee about it and she confirmed it. It's kinda like this place it's just going downhill because why offer good service when the restaurants is closing in a few weeks. The whole situation was very sad because I remember old man Dwight, his son Jack who is now I think 90 years old is someone I've known since I was literally like five years old and then watching his son and his grandson run this particular store and now watching it fall apart again makes me kind of sad . It's the perfect mix of great coffee, surf culture, and energetic young people. It's also one of my favorite spots to bring my Leica and capture candid black-and-white moments. The coffee menu is always fun to explore, and this time we spent a little longer deciding what to order. I was worried we were holding up the line, but the barista was incredibly patient. They walked us through the menu, answered all our questions, and kept reassuring us not to rush. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare these days. My son trusted him immediately. My son till two weeks prior was scared of the ocean and would not step near it. Miller made him comfortable and was playful with him. He was a great teacher and you can tell he really cared. I would highly recommend Mako Surf Club for lessons. Its a great location for learning and Tom and his team are so great. I thought they were especially safe and great with kids. Miller was so lovely to my son and even played soccer with him after the lesson. It was very generous and sweet. My son will have a core memory about this, I know it! We will for sure be using them again too.

By the end of the week, she was confident on the surfboard and in the ocean. The instructors are awesome with kids; encouraging and positive. Huge THANK YOU TO the guy who helped me out because I am a big chicken when it's cold I honestly hate CA beaches being freezing cold so I need the thick suits! It was challenging to get in and out of but well worth the hassle At first I was torn between a cute design or being practical and in the end I'm glad I got the wetsuit perfect for winter weather because it's always cold for me anyway! Also bought some booties and other cool stuff. I plan to come back for more stuff because I absolutely LOVE this place! They've got the cutest swim suits and accessories. Since I never had the chance to explore the beaches there, I decided to drive down from WeHo and spend my afternoon here. It's genuinely a hidden gem, tucked away in a residential neighborhood and "hard to find" in a special and earnest way. The waves were beautiful, people were swimming in the waters even on a gloomy day and I was able to lounge and enjoy my book. The only downside is the lack of restrooms, but parking is relatively easy!

Make sure to have patience. My friend planned a beach day for us. Majority of visitors keep to themselves. There were some ignorant people, but other than that, it was chill. We visited on a Sunday, and it was packed. We were told this is a secluded beach, but of course social media ruined it. The views were great. The water here is cleaner than HB and Santa Monica. Restrooms are limited. There's only one set of restrooms at the end of the road.
