It's the perfect mix of great coffee, surf culture, and energetic young people. It's also one of my favorite spots to bring my Leica and capture candid black-and-white moments. They walked us through the menu, answered all our questions, and kept reassuring us not to rush. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare these days. It was challenging to get in and out of but well worth the hassle At first I was torn between a cute design or being practical and in the end I'm glad I got the wetsuit perfect for winter weather because it's always cold for me anyway! Also bought some booties and other cool stuff. I plan to come back for more stuff because I absolutely LOVE this place! They've got the cutest swim suits and accessories. Not a problem but we told him we had been learning on glass boards and preferred looking at those. He then proceeded to say "Oh! So you're popping up and riding waves? Wow. Not to sound like I'm better than you but most people who learn from non professionals are already doing 5/6 things wrong..." I then immediately walked out. Since I never had the chance to explore the beaches there, I decided to drive down from WeHo and spend my afternoon here. It's genuinely a hidden gem, tucked away in a residential neighborhood and "hard to find" in a special and earnest way. The waves were beautiful, people were swimming in the waters even on a gloomy day and I was able to lounge and enjoy my book. The only downside is the lack of restrooms, but parking is relatively easy!
