My realtor recommended Expert HVAC Services back in 2020 when I closed on my condo. Despite it being a condo, I have two A/C units. One unit needed repairs, the other unit needed to be replaced. My A/C units are located on the roof; it's a two-story building. Scheduling was easy, and the customer service of the woman on the phone I dealt with was great. The repairmen came out on time, at around 9am, and were nice enough, but someone forgot to coordinate a boom lift, which caused a delay of 1.5 hours. So, obviously, there was a breakdown of communication and/or poor project planning. Either way, it's a crappy error to overlook something so obvious after having coming out to inspect and offer a quote. Once the new A/C unit was on the roof and the crane operator left, it was two men who installed the one unit and repaired the second. They were finished by about 6pm. I have no idea if that duration is normal or not, but so far as I knew, they did good work. ..until the following week. That week, my HOA installed pigeon deterrents on the roof. While those were being installed, HOA noticed that the HVAC guys had broken several roof tiles. HOA even took multiple pictures of all the tiles broke from various angles. I was annoyed that the HVAC repairmen didn't proactively inform me that they broke the tiles. Instead, they played off my inability to inspect the roof myself...opted to attempt to evade responsibility. Don't ask, don't tell was the strategy I guess. Though maybe I'm naive because never once did I think to ask "did you break anything while you were up there?"...nor did I outright tell them to "please avoid damaging the roof while you're up there." (I didn't think I should have to say that, but in retrospect...) Not informing the homeowner of damage the crew made shows a lack of respect, integrity, and accountability. Not cool. My HOA charged me $300 to have the tiles replaced. When I provided pictures of the damaged tiles to Expert HVAC, the owner offered to pay half, $150. I got the feeling the owner begrudgingly compensated me for half his crew's mistakes. I'm not sure what was more frustrating to him- that they broke tiles or that they didn't get away with it. Regardless, $150 was better than nothing, but again, not paying for the full $300 shows even less respect and accountability when you're presented with an opportunity to make things right, and still opt to assume only 1/2 responsibility. I'm giving them two stars - one for the convenience of scheduling and the office person's customer service, and, another star for a functioning A/C unit. SO relieved to have found this HVAC company! Two vendors pushed us towards getting our very old unit replaced, to the point that we were bracing ourselves that this would be the course of action when the heating stopped working. It turns out, it was an improperly programmed thermostat... which ironically, was installed by the same company that pushed us towards a full unit replacement and didn't even want to assess the unit for this repair when we called. Not only did Mike with Expert easily diagnose the issue, but in doing so he gave the unit a brief tune up, changed our filters, and said it was in pretty good shape. Had them come out for a simple swap out of a bad capacitor and got totally rolled over the coals! I also have used them in the past and referred them at least 15 jobs. I paid $300 for a $30 part which was swapped out in 5 minutes with the tech at my door ready to leave. For that price I should of at least had a thorough exam of my units and components. I would say to call around and check pricing and labor before they do anymore quick dash and grabs for your money on a tiny repair!! I can't speak highly enough about the few technicians we had the pleasure of meeting. About a month ago one of our A/C units stopped working. I called Expert HVAC about the issue and they had someone out the same day, unfortunately it was a larger repair than anticipated but they worked consistently to get the job done. Ray was the first tech to diagnose the system and was found to be a faulty fan blower motor. He came back the following day to install a new one and took it upon himself to handle the warranty paperwork that was necessary. I wish I could say that was the end of it but the next day it went down again. They had Mike come out next who did everything in his power to get it back up and going, luckily it was a bad part from Trane and was swapped out for a new properly working part. Mike installed and the system was back to normal. Fast forward a few weeks the system goes back out. Naturally we called them back and they sent the owner Gabe out to take a look at the system considering the issues we had ongoing last time around. Gabe spent two days rebuilding and recharging the system and it's back to working properly now. All in all it was a headache and stressful for everyone involved but I wouldn't wish to have walked through it with anyone else. The crew who came out and did the install (removal and replacement) did an excellent job! We recently replaced our 23 year old Air Conditioner a 5 ton York, with a new Ameristar by Trane so far so good! They were responsive, allowed us to use two sources for payment and have been servicing our aircon for 6++ years. Would trust them and highly recommend them for the work. We had them come out and check out our a/c units a couple of times and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. However, once they left and summer came our bills were higher than usual. We had another vendor come out and look and he showed us pictures of the mess that was left in the rafters: cut up pieces of 2x4 laying around, kinks in our lines which was seriously restricting the air flow, etc. This other contractor said we were probably only getting about 25% of what we should be getting out of our units. And Expert HVAC even had one of their supervisors come out and check that all was done right but he didn't bother to clean up the mess they left in the attic. Within an hour of my call, they were at my house and within another hour 2 problems: 1) a burnt transformer in the air handler and 2) defective contact/relay in the compressor unit were replaced (all parts carried on their truck).
