They damaged my piano and have taken zero action or responsibility to rectify the situation. It's been months that I've been calling them to ask for them to fix the damage or get a refund and they've done NOTHING! As others have already written, this is not a trustworthy company. I was given two prices to move a new Fazioli concert grand (worth in excess of $200,000) from CA to CT: $3,500 if shipped with other pianos in the van, or $6,000 if shipped by itself. I chose the less expensive option, thinking it would actually be better for the van's balance if there were two instruments, rather than just one 1,200 pound instrument. Then Linda, the office manager, told me they would not ship my piano with another due to the high value, so I was obligated to go for the $6,000 solo move. When the van arrived, my property manager took a photo clearly showing a second instrument inside. I then told Linda I would pay the $3,500 they asked for since my piano was not shipped alone. At that point, she made up a story that they put another piano in the van at my insistence and they still expected to be paid $6,000. This is an age-old tactic known as bait and switch. Get the client to sign up for the more expensive option, then deliver the lower quality option. Now I'm dealing with a hysterical office manager threatening to sue me. I truly can't understand the negative reviews for this company. While everyone's experience is different, Expert could not have been better or more professional for our move. We were sending a piano that has been in my husband's family for 85 years to our niece in St. Petersburg, FL, from our home in Philadelphia, PA. The price was extremely good (and I'd compared 6 companies) and included insurance. They came when they said they'd come, moved the piano quickly and carefully, and delivered it in less than 28 hours, door-to-door. Linda, in the office, was always pleasant and responsive, and the moving crew, headed by Jason, was courteous and very good at what they do. From start to finish, dealing with Expert was a pleasure. So, you've made the rather surreal decision to open a business specializing in moving pianos inner-city and across the country. Where do you base your operation? Well, Albuquerque ain't such a bad choice, actually. While you won't necessarily find a well connected community of pianists in these parts, you can certainly bank on one thing: single story homes galore, which translates to (comparatively) easier work and (comparatively) fewer lawsuits. Or so I figure. I chose Expert Piano Moving because it was the only company that came up when I searched "Piano Movers" on Yelp, they didn't have any reviews, so it was something of a leap of faith. I'm so glad I called (so easy to do, just tap that Call tab). A really friendly voice answered the phone and ran through a few simple questions about the projected job, the most important being "Will there be more than three stairs?" Sounds kinda weird, right? Three stairs, that magic number. Wuzzup wit three? My mind's eye envisioned the path: two stairs up, one down, that's three. Not more than. Precisely. "Nope," I told her. I won't quote the price because inflation happens, but it was totally fair. The next available appointment was the following day, so I signed up. And the following day the movers called me two hours early saying they were running ahead of schedule - could they come early? Of course. Two very friendly dudes showed up at the address with a large van loaded with enough equipment to haul King Kong, and they set to work. Here's where they definitely earned it. If you are considering opening a piano moving company, consider this: most of the homes in ABQ proper were originally designed for small lives: small people, small doorways, small rooms. Pianos aren't small. Those two dudes spent about 90 minutes carefully wheeling that monstrosity out of a tiny New Mexican home without a nick of damage: fantastic. Terrible company. Told us we were good to go until less than a week before and laughed at us when they cancelled. I was on a tight time constraint and now I have to jump through hoops to move it myself. Horrible service, save yourself some time and don't bother with this company. THEY TOTALLY SCREWED ME ON THIS. My family moved from Denver to Phoenix and searched for someone to move our grand piano. Expert Piano did an excellent job of responding and coordinating the pick up, they were priced reasonably and could get to it faster than anyone else. They even stored the piano for (what should have been) a few weeks until we were ready for it at our new house. When the piano was picked up I was told that the piano would arrive at our new house in 3 weeks. If the story ended here, the review would most certainly be a 5 star review. Fast forward a few weeks and I haven't received my piano. I contact the company and speak to their office manager. She is very nice and professional and apologized for the delay but said it should arrive "soon." If the story ended here, the review would be a 5 star review, things happen outside of people's control and I don't hold it against them. Fast forward a few more weeks and I contact her again (are you noticing the breakdown in communication? why am I the one constantly contacting?...) and she again apologizes for the day. She lets me know that the piano will either arrive Mar 2 or Mar 3. Somewhat frustrated by the lack of the communication, if the story ended here, the review would be a 4 star review. Fast forward to Mar 4, still no piano. I contact her again (why am I being the professional one and following up? Doesn't seem like that is my responsibility) and this time I finally show my patience has worn thin. My wife teaches piano for a living and these perpetual delays affect our ability to feed our family. She informs me the piano will arrive Mar 8. If the story ended here, the review would be a 3 star review. Fast forward to Mar 9, they show up! What a relief, I was beginning to forget what it looked like. Unfortunately, instead of taking ownership for the delay, the delivery person tried to convince my wife that we had told him we didn't want the piano until March, so really it's our fault. I have several emails that state otherwise. Companies make mistakes, it's ok to say "we are sorry." It's not ok to pretend you did nothing wrong. The fact that they take that mindset makes me think there's no hope for improvement. The story does end here and this is why it's a 2 star review. read more

Contacted them on a Monday, they picked up the piano in Tennessee on Tuesday and the piano arrived on California on Saturday morning. UNREAL! Every other mover's quotes were higher and predicted between 3-8 weeks for delivery. Granted, timing just happened to be right with their truck's location, but it couldn't have gone smoother. Expert indeed! When I called the office, the person who answered was courteous and I was scheduled for the next morning! The two movers were on time, careful of my house and furnishings in general and VERY careful with my Yamaha upright. And they were just plain nice guys as well. They offered to clean up the dusty, cobweb filled piano back (and floor where the piano was to be placed.) The price of the move was very reasonable, and the service was truly top drawer. I used Expert Piano Moving (based in Albuquerque) to move my grandmother's Steinway piano from Montana to the Portland, Oregon area. They also moved two large antique mirrors for me in the same shipment. They did an excellent job. Good communication. Protected the piano and mirrors well, and placed it in my home. I just had to write a review because this company is awesome! I called to get an estimate. Very friendly woman on the phone. Incredibly fair price. They were scheduled to show up between 9&10 AM. Arrived at 8:50. Piano was out by 9:00. The guys were great- very nice people. I sent a heads up text to my friend at the location the piano was being moved to which said "They are en route. Nice guys." A little while later I got a text back, "VERY nice guys!" And they did a great job of moving the piano!!! Very careful with the whole process. I would not recommend this company to anyone who needs to move their piano. Why? They don't take responsibility for when things go wrong. After my experience with them I feel the need to warn fellow piano owners out there who are considering hiring them. Protect yourselves because they won't protect you or your piano. I first called them for hire in March 2015 to move my 7-foot grand piano across the country, from California to Ohio. I requested that there be AT LEAST 4 movers as I've seen a previous company struggle with 3 movers. The lady convinced me there would be 3 movers and it's okay because they are very experienced, and saying they had insurance coverage up to $100,000 in case something goes wrong. I was convinced and asked them to come pick up my piano in the first week of April. It ended up taking them maybe 2-3 weeks after the set date to pick it up, I'm guessing because they only have one truck and work around their own schedule, not their customers'. That's fine, I was in no hurry to move my piano. After they picked it up it took over a full month until it was finally delivered. Again, because they work around their own schedule and what's convenient for them. So I'm not sure what they can do for pianists who actually need their piano by a certain time. I wouldn't rely on them if that's the case. Upon delivery I almost had a heart attack to see that there were only 2 movers. TWO to move my 7-foot grand piano! After painfully watching them they delivered it safely to the house. Everything was fine until they plugged in the disklavier (special device/feature that my piano came with) and it didn't turn on. It's a really cool feature so I was super disappointed about it. After a few tries the mover said he couldn't do anything about it, and I made him agree that they would pay for the cost of the repair. I should have known to have him write it on paper because unfortunately he didn't keep his word. After this event I kept calling the company in hopes of finding a resolution to my problem. They kept saying there was no "PROOF" that it was their fault it stopped working. But the fact of the matter is that it was working before they picked it up, and not working after they delivered it - whatever happened, happened on THEIR clock! I kept trying to explain this but she wouldn't help out at all. (Btw, the cost to have it repaired was $1,000 - something I thought they would cover since they gave me all this bologna about having up to $100,000 in coverage, but she kept saying it wasn't worth them to use insurance... in other words, she doesn't care about their customers!!!) After weeks of this back and forth and not getting any help I tried to at least have them cover the $125 or something fee that I had to spend on having a technician come look at the problem. You guessed it, they wouldn't even help me out with that small fee (you would think they would considering I gave them over $1,700 to move the piano!) Eventually, the company COMPLETELY IGNORED all of my calls in hopes that I would disappear.
