Okay, so plan B turned out really well, and overall I am happy with my experience. They have been in the same location for 20 years, and they are extremely clean. Most times I'll notice dust or cobwebs in the corners at most salons I go to, but they were so clean. I even asked about their pedicure procedures and how they sanitized, so I know I'll get one there one day. This definitely is a mom and pop shop that stays busy because of their regulars, and they know your name, which is refreshing when going to a nail salon. This is a place that prides themselves on their product, and they take care of everyone they can. I definitely suggest calling to make an appointment!

The lady who did my feet was absolutely perfect, and my experience with her was great. However, the woman who did my nails was honestly very unprofessional. She repeatedly kept asking me if I wanted gel polish instead, and after I said no, it felt like she became rough and careless with my nails. I still have clear polish left on my skin, my nails are bumpy and streaky, and the white polish looks uneven. I've gotten white nails before many times, and they've never looked like this. The polish has already chipped in multiple places, and some sides of the nails barely even have polish on them. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because the pedicure service was wonderful, but the manicure quality was unfortunately less than mediocre.

I was paired with Mimi, and she did an excellent job. I had gel polish that needed to be removed before my pedicure, and one thing I especially appreciated was that Mimi did not grind it off with a Dremel/electric nail sander. She removed it gently, which is a big plus for me. My feet were also in terrible shape pain-wise. I spend a lot of time outside at our farm and had been walking over rocks, so they were extremely sore. I explained to Mimi in Vietnamese that my feet really hurt and needed some extra attention, and she understood exactly what I meant. She gave me one of the best foot and lower-leg massages I've had during a pedicure. For me, that part alone was priceless. I had also just gone through a very scary experience driving on I-20 earlier that morning, so sitting down with a glass of wine and having someone work the knots and soreness out of my feet was exactly what I needed! They have a really good selection of colors, displayed in color books rather than making you hunt through bottles. The salon itself isn't one of those huge, ultra-luxury nail spas -- it's fairly simple -- but everything I saw was clean and comfortable, and I'd much rather have excellent service than pay extra for fancy décor. I chose the pedicure that was one level above the basic pedicure, added gel polish, and the total was $55 before tip -- including the gel polish. I thought that was very reasonable, especially considering how much time Mimi spent on the massage and my feet. Excellent value, excellent service, and I would definitely return and request Mimi. One thing to know before heading over: Zen Nails & Spa is closed on Tuesdays.
