This is my new favorite place for lunch! Everyone in my office has been running out of ideas on where to eat lunch. We discovered this GEM 3 days ago and have been back everyday! I ordered about 15 sandwiches for our St. Patrick's day lunch at my office. When calling to order everyone was lovely to speak with and willing to make all the sandwiches individually. Upon arriving I immediately received warm greetings and noticed how clean the whole place was. They had my order ready and boxed and a kind gentlemen brought it out to my car for me. Everyone at my office loved the corned beef. Very lean and thinly sliced. Horseradish, mustard, and cheese were all included on the side. Amazing! We flew in town and stopped here for sandwich while beginning our Ohio visit. They staff made a sampler tray for us and our children to try. We received the royal treatment. First - when we walked in, the lovely women behind the counter were fresh slicing homemade corned beef and gave us a few slices to try - delicious! Then they put some homemade pastrami on a little piece of bread with a homemade garlic spread and a paper thin slices piece of pickle and I fell in love!! I am sitting here in my hotel eating this sandwich and I can honestly say - you MUST come here and get one of these!! Hands down - The. So.... I didnt know that this was a Yelp top rated restaurant, but I completely understand why it is. My husband heard of this through a friend and I work nearby. So many places have excellent food and some places have great service... it is uncommon to have both. So to start, this looks like a connivance store when you come in, which confused me at first. I was then greeted and asked if I wanted to have a sample of the sandwiches they have. This was awesome and all the samples were amazing. So, I decided on the Ruben wrap.... which is weird because I have never ordered a Ruben. While I appreciate that it was on pita bread, I think I would get the rye bread for the extra flavor. I also enjoyed the hummus as there is nothing better than homemade hummus. Honestly, this is a true gem and there is a reason why it is high rated. It looks like nothing from the outside, but is warm, friendly on the inside. I also like the marketing of the father/owner. read more

I have to hear good things about this deli I have not tried it until today. First of all being a first time customer they serve me up a very mini sample tray with three different samples all three were very delicious. They were turkey pastrami and Rueben. This place was amazing. The customer service was above and beyond. We were first time visitors and they took their time to go over the menu and even gave us three separate samples to try. We went with the ruban wrap. The sauerkraut on this was like something I have never had. It had a hint of cinnamon I think. I like traditional sauerkraut and wasn't disappointed in their version. The wrap was a pita that seemed to be slightly chewy. Definitely a must try. We will definitely be stopping again to try another wrap. read more

I was in town on business and my colleague and I were looking for lunch in the way to the airport. We took a look at Yelp and noticed the great reviews for this place. We walked in and told them it was our first visit, and they made us up a sampler of their "specialties" - corned beef, turkey, pastrami and the Reuben. The food was SO GOOD - I'm not usually a pastrami fan, but ended up getting a pastrami wrap. Their corned beef, which I believe they cure in house, was absolutely sublime. I've been twice and bought two sandwhich's both times one for myself and one for spouse. Of course, I tried hers. I also tried several of their sides. All exceeded my expectations for a neighborhood deli and the price was extremely reasonable given the quality. The goose liver sandwich was not the best of what I tried, but it was a nice change of pace. I can definitely see myself going back just to get it on days when I am tired of my usual diet of beef, pork, turkey, and chicken. The first visit tasting bit is a nice touch. My first visit was directly following reception of the yelp award and they temporarily discontinued the service, but were extra accommodating a few weeks later on my second visit. The extra service makes it a memorable experience and makes you feel special for just a few minutes. I don't think that is the reason people like to go here though. On my second trip I was helped by a man I assume is the owner. My first trip a man I assume is his son or other relative. Both exhibited pride in their work, sincere concern for customer satisfaction, and commitment to consistent quality one rarely finds in today's world of chains and franchises. I love a good, traditional deli, and miss the ones that were on every corner when I worked in New York. Express Deli feels exactly like those corner delis! They made my Jersey Sloppy Joe perfectly -- and didn't make 'that face' when I asked for coleslaw and thousand island on a turkey and swiss sandwich. I Cleveland-ized that sandwich with some stadium mustard, and I was in heaven. We stopped by the Express Deli after going the the home & garden show at the I-X Center. We were just looking for something easy & quick to take back home and this establishment definitely hit the mark. First, the owners/proprietors are incredibly nice & welcoming, we both ordered the turkey Reuben and they were very good. A good portion of sliced turkey and the 1,000's island was spot on, loved the rye bread but could of had a little more slaw - make sure that you get the garlic sauce too. While we were waiting she gave us a generous portion of corned beef to try ( if I hadn't of had a corned beef sandwich earlier in the week I would have gotten it, very good & lean), and then when I mentioned that it was our first time here she made a small pastrami sample with rye bread, garlic sauce & pickles. Saw their Yelp accolade so I went to see for myself. Clean interior, owner was at the checkout, very friendly. Son & two women making sandwiches for a steady stream of customers. They did not do the "first-timer" samples, citing being crazy busy lately, but promised to resume the practice soon. The Beirut chicken wrap was plentiful but slightly dry...the pita is wrapped tightly but falls apart, making for a messy finish. The falafel wrap was tasty, even if not truly authentic (pickles instead of turnips & no tahini sauce).... it's a bit of a drive for me so I won't go out of my way, but if close by I would stop again. read more
