Found this restaurant in Downtown Cleveland, very friendly and hospitable service. I ordered the shawarma platter and my party ordered the Mediterranean dish that came with hummus. The meat of my shawarma was a little bland but the other ingredients tasted fresh. The Mediterranean dish on the other side was excellent. Stopped in on the way to work to grab a quick lunch. The woman taking my order was kind enough to recommend a sandwich I could grab and go and would leave me feeling satisfied. She mentioned the garlic Mayo was good enough to eat on just about anything, so I had to have it! I'm not a huge bread fan so I removed the third slice of bread in my sandwich. I was thoroughly satisfied. The garlic mayo was the perfect spread for this sandwich. Next time, I'll ask for it toasted. The deli was a cross between and old-school diner and a bar. Visited Barrister's Deli with my co-workers once again. It's been seven years since I've visited, so I was due for a visit. On this occasion, we seated ourselves and grabbed menus on the way in. The menu offered some tasty sounding options, so it was tough to choose. Plus, they offered some specials, which also sounded appetizing. Since I had a precognition to request a reuben sandwich, I requested a sandwich. But it wasn't a reuben. Instead, I requested a duplex with corned beef and pastrami with a side of french fries and a drink. I was handed a glass so I ventured over to the soda fountain. Yes, I said "soda" and I'm from Ohio. The soda fountain offered a couple locally sourced options with real cane sugar. So I went with the black cherry variety and it was yummy! A few moments later, my fries arrived. A few minutes later, my sandwich was delivered. The fries were hot and yummy. The sandwich was good, but not great. It had lettuce and tomato, but no mayo. I should've requested may. In fact, I should've just requested a reuben as I had thought earlier. Anyway, the meal was good and we had some good conversation amongst my co-workers. read more

The first thing I noticed was the cleanliness of this deli. Considering the building is old with a dated nostalgic feel, I appreciated how clean everything was. We were inspired to try this deli from a previous review. I love a good Rueben sandwich. Once I saw that that the fries were homemade and the corned beef was cooked in house, I was sold. I do honestly believe that this is the best Rueben I have ever had. The meat was pilled high, flavorful and juicy, and the sauerkraut was not overbearing. The thin rye bread was nicely toasted and kept its crisp to the last bite. The fresh Cajun fries were a perfect sandwich companion. We are not from this area and are saddened that we will not be able to make this a frequent stop, but we are grateful we got to experience and enjoy this nostalgic deli. You will not be disappointed. Old classic diner with the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. I came over quick from the airport to get a quick lunch to take back. It was ready within 5-10min and I was heading back to the airport. The sandwich was fantastic and full of flavor. It was the perfect portion and the price was very reasonable. It came with fries which I felt were disappointing. They were soggy rather than crispy. The pasta salad was very fresh and a great side to my sandwich. I didn't love the broccoli, which seemed strange in a pasta salad. Overall, quality old school diner with fantastic employees. The food was ready quickly and everything was prepared fresh. When you enter has that old school vibe you order at counter then take your number and set it on the table of your choice . This Deli has a full bar with all your favorite liquor. They do catering here , and to go orders as well as dine in. I had the jumbo corned beef and fresh cut fries dam it was all good . Went back to try new sandwiches and sides this week and have to say we are definitely SOLD on this deli! This time we both ordered Rueben sandwiches and they came with fries. The sandwiches were delicious and the fries to die for!! I also ordered a side of pasta and potato salad to try for future reference. They have perfected both! Usually when you order pasta or potato salads they can be bland and not very flavorful. Not here! First timers from Columbus, Ohio we stumbled upon Barristers because of an adjacent parking lot (for the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame). Greeted warmly by Mary, we felt immediatedly welcome and at ease. A real daily-fresh Deli, with meats piled high behind viewable glass. The service was prompt and friendly, the Reuben, stuffed with fresh corned beef was delicious, and the atmoshere was full of laughter and food satisfaction. Mixed drinks and/or beers were available and moderatley priced. We had a wonderful meal, and now have 1st hand knowledge of why Barrister's have been in business since the mid 1960s.
