But when things are normal, the lighting is excellent, the clothes are well organized and the staff is always, and I repeat, always polite and friendly. They are business people and this is their business and customers need to understand that. As with any business based on donations, you can find wonderful things at very reasonable prices or you can find nothing at all to your liking. But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. The guy at the register first said he'd trust me and was going to change the price but looked concerned like he'd get in trouble. I told him, I'll show you on the wall. He said he's the only one there and the line was forming. I told him take care of everyone else first. I'll go take a photo. And I did and it did show the $6 price with the plush doll as an image next to the price. He refused to price correct it. He said he had no code when in the beginning he was going to change it to match the price. It rung up as $12. Businesses like this taking advantage of customers at the register don't last very long. Especially, when customers start getting savvy to the scam. P.S. I found the same plush on Amazon for $4.99 I can also get it from a number of random shops in Westfield or Willowbrook for $5. It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round.
