Second time working with the gentlemen at this espresso repair shop , and there is a reason I travel an hour to get them to work on my machines. To begin with, they are incredible friendly and professional in all aspects of communication, from intake to updates to closing out the repair /purxhase. Second, they are incredibly good at what they do and they don't inflate their labor hours or over charge for parts. Finally, they are incredibly honest, which i appreciate SO much in this day and age where it seems that consumers are constantly swindled by companies. I was really grateful to Derek who kept me updated about my repair and checked in when the costs were adding up , and for his resourcefulness and willingness to help by selling me. Refurbished machine when we calculated the cost to continue tinkering with mine versus just buying one they happened to have at the store that was in great working order. We took the trek down here to check out Express Fix in search of a decent used espresso machine. Their offerings are small but they had some good stuff to see. At the time of writing, they had six different used machines to choose from ranging from $150 to $2,500. Their bread and butter is in the repair of espresso machines, as their back room stock was PACKED with machines. The guy who helped us was very knowledgeable and was happy to chat us up and walk us through some options. We didn't end up getting a machine, but did buy a couple of bags of their in-house roasted coffee beans. Hopefully we'll be bringing a machine home soon and I'll be able to try some of these beans. read more

My 13-year-old Silvano by Quick Mill stopped working 9 days ago. I called Chris Coffee in Upstate NY where we had bought the machine and described my problem. They advised a new pump and air release valve, which I ordered, and they arrived today. I immediately drove to Express Fix Coffee, and Jacob helped me unload the machine from my car and asked if I wanted to wait while he evaluated it. It turns out that my machine did not need the new parts, just some expert service. I was served a cup of coffee while I waited. In half an hour my machine was working again. I was so thrilled with the service that I bought a bag of their beans: Nectar of Justice. Jacob also recommended some steps that I can take to keep my machine in working order. Express Fix's service is in sharp contrast to my experience with another local expresso service company that took 2 months to replace a gasket. I hope I won't need another service in the near future. I took my Jura Coffee maker in to Express to get repaired. After about 3 weeks and $400 later they said it was ready to be picked up. After I got it home and was cleaning the ground bean container from inside the machine, I saw that the back flap of bean hopper was missing and ground beans were falling into the interior of the machine. I immediately called Express and told them the issue. I also sent the a picture of part that was missing the flap. They kept telling me they were trying to find a replacement flap but couldn't find one. This involved multiple phone calls. Finally the said they order me a new one and send it to me. I waited two weeks and called again to check the status. The employee told me it wasn't ordered because the owner of Express didn't feel they were responsible for replacing it an wanted me to pay for half. The total cost is only about $40 and we have been having this back and forth for almost a month. It's ridiculous and I said I guess since this is your position that you are willing to lose a customer over something you did that you want me to pay for, then I guess that is the resolution. I always try to support local businesses but the next time I have an issue I will send the machine directly to Jura. read more

Rigo at Express Fix is DA MAN!!! We had a 15+ year-old Jura fully automatic espresso machine that after over 28,000 cups (yeah, we read the shot counter) was ready for and overhaul or retirement. Over the phone Rigo walked us through the probable repair costs. While they were reasonable prices for parts and labor considering the value of an equivalent new Jura, the wife and I decided it was time for a replacement rather than refurbish. Rigo invited us down to Express Fix for what turned out to be a 1+ hour education and tasting from different machines, and samples of their Nectar coffee as made in the De'Longhi machine versus drip. He was a patient guide and teacher as he helped in our decision process. Hopefully our new machine won't be needing in- or out-of warranty repair anytime soon, but we would trust and strongly recommend Express Fix and Rigo for the knowledge, care and sincere service they showed us. They are also expert small-batch coffee roasters, and our new De'Longhi is happily turning out shots and cups of delicious brew. read more

My brother gave me his Jura machine and said if I'm willing to pay for the repairs, then I can keep it. Given that Jura machines are so expensive, I was expecting bad news and a big bill. However, the issue with the machine ended being a programming issue that was easily fixed during their initial diagnostic. I ended up paying only for their very reasonable diagnostic fee, and everything's working perfectly! These guys are super honest and experts!!! My brother missed out. Haha read more

After three weeks with no sight of my La Pavoni Professional being repaired I called Express Fix. Thank God, their knowledge and expertise were outstanding, and their customer service was second to none. I got all the parts needed for a rebuild on my espresso machine and their experts gave me some tips, and even had a hard to find part on-hand. My machine has never worked better. Rico, at the front desk was extremely knowledgable and accommodating. They expertly repaired our espresso machine and gave us several important tips to prevent future problems. By they way, an unexpected benefit - besides the tremendous please of talking with Rico and his team - was the coffee they roast themselves at the shop. My wife is Italian and I lived in Italy for seven year. When I dropped off my Rancilio I asked them to service and fix anything that needs it. They said 6 weeks. The gentlemen helping me was very nice and helpful. Matt called me 4 weeks in and asked if I wanted to pay for a new filter and that it would be ready later that day or the next. I picked it up 2 days later when they called and when I got home noticed some damage. They fixed everything but left this new damage and said it was already there? I asked them to fix everything yet the damage they did was not fixed? I have used this machine almost every day for 10 years. There was no damage already there as David the owner claimed. It's been said the measure of a man is decided not in times of peace, but in times of conflict. I think the same can been said when it applies to business. The true measure of a business is not decided when all is going well, but when something goes wrong. I'm sure when everything is straightforward and happy with these guys they deserve a top rating. But when something goes wrong, as it did with us, that's a different story. I'm going to try and keep this brief and just let the photo speak for itself. In mid December 2016 we called Express Fix Coffee and asked them if they could fix our espresso machine. The owner David said they don't normally work on the machine I have because they cannot get the parts. I told him I have two machines and he could use one for parts if need be. He said OK bring them down. On December 22, 2016 I brought the two espresso makers in and I left a deposit of $40. I left them with the owner. I picked up both machines on January 18, 2017. When I picked them up I was told that both machines worked fine. He told me that one of the portafilters (the hand held device you pack the coffee into) leaked a little bit but still worked, and the other worked perfectly fine. He said it all worked out good because it turned out they could get the parts and now felt confident about working on these particular models. When I attempted to use them at my house neither one worked. I tried portafilter one with machine one and machine two, and then I tried portafilter two with machine two and machine one and none of them worked. I went online and purchased a new portafilter for 30.00 and it worked. I called and spoke to David and told him neither of the machines worked and I had to purchase a new filter. I told him I would like a refund minus the 40.00 deposit which he could keep for parts expenses. He told me they would look at them again. I told him for me to bring them down, drop them off, then pick them up again is 4 hours of driving and I did not want to do that, plus, there was no point because I fixed the problem myself by replacing the filter. He then offered to refund 95.00 but I said that is not sufficient due to the fact the goal of getting a functional machine was not met, I spent 4 hours of driving with drop off and pick up and I didn't not want to pay for something I did not receive (a functioning machine). He said, "Well, we cleaned and did a number of things to both machines." I reminded him the reason I brought both machines down was because of the initial concern he could not get parts (which he found was incorrect - he could get parts). I did not want both machines cleaned and serviced, I wanted one of them to work and the end result was I received two machines back, neither of which worked, and I had to purchase a filter to get one of the machines operational. Both of the pumping mechanisms on the machines worked before I brought them down , they just did not push the water through the filter. As the service professional, he should have known the issue was not with the machines but the filters and replaced the filters to get them operational which he did not do. The end result is, I paid for him to to get one machine operational and that did not happen. Since he would not give me a full refund on the labor I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge. I have gone back and forth with this for seven months and finally, after I provided the evidence shown in the photo which is first - the initial repair tag which shows the filters leak, and then second, written in his rebuttal the admission they still leaked, the dispute was settled in my favor. Normally I would not take the time to write a negative review on something like this but the fact he fought me on a refund warranted the time I am taking. Since the initial goal was not met which was simply a functioning machine, the proper thing to do would have been to just refund the money for labor and keep the deposit for the parts. Instead he fought with my credit card company for months. I will grant him the fact he was never rude in the conversations. He was just wrong and made a poor decision on how to handle a conflict like this. Sometimes the proper thing to do in business when something goes awry is to just cut your losses and move on. They did not do that. Instead, they doubled down and dug in their heels. If he would have simply refunded the money I would not have written this review. So if you do business with them, just hope all goes well. If something goes wrong, be prepared. read more

Bad experience, bad customer service. After waiting a week, my machine had never even been looked at (which contradicts what I was told dropping it off). I told them I just wanted to pick it back up - they actually told me "well there's no where else for you to take it". Seriously? Douche. Just because repair places are scare doesn't mean you don't have to run a respectable and ethical business. Apparently it takes 2 weeks to even look at your machine, then order parts, then even longer to get around to repairing it. Would you take your car to a repair place that took 2 weeks to even look at your car? Umm... No. I'd rather drink sanka than let you hold my machine hostage until you finally make time to even look at what's wrong plus another couple weeks to even repair it. They did refund my deposit without incident, so at least they earned the one star I had to give. read more

This place is the best! I went in to buy a couple of parts for my problematic Saeco Aroma Espresso Machine. I also had a hard time removing a frozen screw from the boiler. David and Jacob both leapt into action and happily removed the frozen screw. They could have tried to sell me a new one because I thought the screw was a goner, but they soaked it in a cleaning solution and told me I didn't need a new one. Then, Jacob installed the new gasket and screen I brought with me without even being asked. To top it all off, David offered to fire it up to test it with the new parts. He ground some Italian Espresso beans and drew two shots from my machine. It was delicious! I was bracing for the labor costs for the two gentlemen that spent so much time on my machine, and even coached me on achieving the perfect grind for this particular machine. No charge! David just shook my hand and said "Come back again!" I was amazed, who does that anymore? I have to say, it was one of the most pleasant "repair shop" experiences I've ever had. Great work gentlemen. Simply put, my machine works better now since Express Fix worked on it, than when I bought it. I have owned an Expobar Office Lever for going on four years... When the water softener filter leaked the pellets were sucked into the machine and melted in the pump and water lines. David and his team were able to get it cleaned out, replaced some worn out parts and offered some coffee making tips. My shots are now better than ever (honestly) and I don't have to use the faulty ($20-every-three-months) cartridges any longer. Even my wife claims her morning latte's taste better. Retrieved my espresso machine from Express Fix a couple days ago. Hadn't had a cappuccino since the machine was packed up in San Francisco in early April. It was in sad shape after being damaged during a recent move to San Diego. (The packing crew neglected to drain the reservoir and then packed it on its side in the box. Duh.) It blew steam from corroded valves and reeked of mold. (Insert sad, caffeine-free face.) Fortunately, I was referred to Dave Martin and his company, Express Fix.
