I gave dave 4 thousand dollars to paint an empty 800 square foot condo with no furniture and he didn't finish painting kitchen or hallways or closet shelves. It was an easy job. But it was a nightmare. I have a list a mile long. The straw that broke the camels back was him doing something simple like putting a rod in my closet to hang my cloths. Well I put my last piece of clothing on rod and the whole closet rods and brackets came out of wall on top of me. He came back after his vacation 1 week later and fixed it then he measured wrong and I couldn't open the drawers from dresser inside of closet that he knew I had to open the drawers. So that being said I couldn't trust Dave installing my cabinets for premier. He can't even hang a closet rod let alone cabinets. Hit or miss kinda a guy. Live and learn. Reviews are for a reason. Next time I will listen. That was a lot of money for me Beware.

Our cabinet company salesman put us in contact with Dave Pike, and we will be forever grateful he did! From our initial meeting to go over the project, our vision and expectations, and timeline, Dave's professional approach, support and suggestions told us straightaway that we could trust him and his work. Not only did he finish our project in time and on budget, we are so pleased with the high quality of work and his follow through to complete a few minor lingering issues. We appreciated his level of communication and follow through whenever we had questions. This is by no means our only renovation and we thus know how difficult it is to find a contractor who does what he says he will do, with expertise and consummate professionalism, and by someone you can trust to complete the project to your specifications. Dave Pike did that precisely, so we highly recommend his services. Our building manager was so impressed, he asked us for Dave's contact information so he can forward it to others in our building! He's a gem!

I should have guessed when I tried to schedule with him, and he asked me to remind him the…read moreafternoon before. I sent him pictures of the jobs we wanted him to do, which he acknowledged, saying that it looked like a full day's worth of work. I reminded him the afternoon before, as requested, and he then told me he had another job in the morning. He then texted me the morning of and asked if he could bring a helper, doubling the hourly rate but getting more done more quickly. I approved (stupidly). He then showed up and asked me if they were going to be working inside or outside (all of the jobs I had texted him about and sent pictures for were obviously inside). I walked him through it, and he told me he could do all of the work. Fast forward to when the work was completed (poorly). My wife called him to complain about the way his guys left things, and he started trying to pit my wife and I against each other. He changed his story several times--despite the fact that most of our communication was via text, so I had records of it--and tried to paint me as the bad guy to my wife. To his credit, he wound up coming out to try to fix some of the problems himself. However, he wasn't able to fix much of it the day he came, and he offered to get us a discounted quote on fixing the rest of it. We declined. He explained on this last day (after the fact) that it is difficult to exactly match paint colors (for covering patches he did on the walls) and that he wasn't able to tack down the area of carpet we had asked him to on the first day because he isn't a carpet-layer. Had he explained these two things upfront--and had he not engaged in all of the emotionally manipulative b.s.--this review may have been different. As it is, I wouldn't recommend hiring him for any more-involved work. If you need a cabinet fixed or bathroom hardware mounted, he's probably a fine candidate. For anything more complicated, my experience leads me to recommend going in a different direction. Photos are of "completed" work.

They seemed genuinely excited about some of our harebrained ideas (a cat door to the laundry room, for example), and Dan did a great job of transferring our needs into a workable design. We were very happy with the execution, which included lots of different teams coming in and out, all very well organized by Eric. Bill's finishing touches were much appreciated, and included a custom built bookcase instead of a railing and small shelves embedded into our workspace. Incredibly, the whole project was completed almost to the penny we were quoted, except for a few extras we decided to add along the way. Eighty eight was not our lowest quote, but it was by far the most meticulous and thorough. Thanks for making our soggy, cold, drafty basement into an amazing and comfortable studio, complete with sump pump, radiant floor heat, and cat door! We also really appreciated having guys that we trusted completely sharing our living space for 2 months and being able to communicate freely with them. Can't wait for the next project together.

While this seems like a reasonable list, it's difficult to find all of these attributes in one place, but we did. Eighty-Eight Inc. responded to our bid request within two days. The quotation was very competitive, and they were able to start the project within our timeframe. The carpenters were VERY prompt, needed no supervision, and left the area immaculate. While they were more than happy to follow our ideas, they offered some alternatives that made the final project much more useful and attractive.
