Today I went to Express Men's with my little brother. We ended up trying on a lot of different dress shirts and pants and bought a bunch of items. I was very impressed with the quality of service. The tall guy who helped us with the changing room had a quirky sense of humor and was fun to deal with. I forget his name. There was also a shorter dude with a buzz-cut.. he gave us great service too. I wanted to give a special mention to Alex, who rung us up. He gave me really A+ service with a warm smile and a great attitude. It turns out we are both fans of the musical Notre Dame de Paris! If you know me, you know I wear everything from Express, from casual to work dressy to nightlife clothing. Everything fits really well (I get a lot of compliments on the jeans, especially the ones with the rhinestones). I'd say the prices are reasonable...especially if you buy their stuff on sale and/or happen to have those $15 off your $30 dollar purchase... For some reason, and maybe it's because Valley Fair is just busier, I have a harder time finding the things I like. The Oakridge store is a bit better and sometimes I can find some good stuff at the mall in SF. I see everyone else said the help isn't great, but I'm the kind of person that would rather find stuff on my own...so no comment there. read more

That's totally fine with me, but the manner by which the register brushed me off was very rude. No smiles and very sourpuss demeanor. 1 star just because the store is spacious and easy to navigate through -4 stars for the customer service. I came in to exchange a shirt for a different size. First of all I asked the gentleman who offered to help so he gave me a different shirt with a similar color and told me that's the one. I noticed the difference when I was checking out so I told the guy behind the counter. He went and looked for the size I wanted and said within 2 min that they don't have that size. So I asked him to check the San Francisco location. He said ok and left me waiting while he went and started helping other customers. So I asked the manager to help. So he stared making phone calls to check for me. I asked him which store is he calling and he said oakridge !!! I didn't ask for oakridge. I asked for San Francisco !!! Is it possible to give no stars? This store and the people that work there are awful. I never shop here but was in a desperate need of work pants the night before a work trip. Since I was running late on time (half hour before Valley Fair closed) I purchased a few pairs with the intention of taking them back if they didn't fit. They ended up fitting horribly, so I had planned to take them back. Life got a little crazy so by the time I ended up getting them back to the mall, it had been over 90 days, which apparently is the maximum time limit on returns (not that it was EVER mentioned to me or on the receipt). So the sales associate started ringing up the return, and two seconds before she finished the transaction she said she could not do this since over 90 days had passed. Since there was no notice of this printed, I called over the Manager. Now mind you, I understand that the company can lose money on items that are now deeply discounted, but these pants were THE EXACT SAME PANTS as the entire wall display! I pointed out to the Manager that this was a terrible customer experience and she could simply put these right back on the rack to sell at full price but she refused to budge. I asked her what they would do in the case that a customer did not have their receipt which wouldn't enable them to prove the 90 day time limitation and she said they would take them back and do a store credit.. WHAT KIND OF MESSED UP CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS???? I'm forever boycotting this store. read more

I walked into the store recently for some back to school shopping. I must say, I love express with every inch of my being and I can ALWAYS find something there that I would buy; this alone deserves 5 stars. I love the customer service there. I'm not the type of person to be particularly picky with my total experience and I don't need an associate there 24/7 watching my every move and running out to get things for me, so I was very satisfied. Our son is 14. He is 6 feet tall and a 28/29 waist with a 33/34 inseam. He is slim. We have had the hardest time finding clothes to fit him that are in style and classy looking. He has an 8th grade formal coming up and we needed a suit. After the 5th store we visited a store employee (of another store) recommended we check out Express. We did and were more than pleased!! The associate Will from the Woodstock GA store (Outlets at Atlanta) was very helpful. We told him what we needed and he pulled sizes, started suggesting items and had several shirts ready for our son to try on to see what styles we needed. Took my godson to the Valley Fair Mall to get a suit for his college graduation and had a great experience. RICARDO was an excellent sales associate. When we found a suit that we thought was perfect he suggested trying on another suit with a different cut/style for comparison. It turns out that the jacket of the second style and the pants from the original style was the best combination. His attention and knowledge helped us get a great looking suit. This is a review for their customer service alone. I went into Express with a complicated situation: I had just bought 3 vests and 1 skirt a week ago, but then they had the "$30 off $75 purchase" promotion so I came into the store hoping I could return all of the items I bought and then buy back 3 out of the 4 items with the promotion. And, to make things even more confusing, one of vests I bought were on sale in another store but were full price at this store so I wanted to buy back the vest for the sale price I got. ...are you still following? Well, I ended up going to the cashier and explained my situation to the Manager. She was extremely nice and patient with me even though I asked her to sift through 4 different receipts to try and return all the items and then buy back 3 of the items with one of the items getting a discount. However, after ringing up my 3 purchases, I was still $5 away from getting the "$30 off $75 purchase" promotion. The Manager gave me time to look through the entire store again so that I could get the promotion and even reserved that register just for me so that someone could total it all up once I got my extra $5. I ended up buying $20 earrings and paid a total of $65 for 4 items, which is not a bad deal at all. ...still there? So, from my entire experience last week, I learned that (1) Express has an amazing price adjustment policy and everyone should take advantage of it if possible, and (2) the sales associates at Express in Valley Fair are trained very well and demonstrated great customer service to me. Pat on the back if you work for Express Valley Fair! Because seriously, what person would put up with my impulse buying and returning? I love this Express location because their store is way bigger here than at the other malls and they have way better selection. I often buy my suit jackets from them and the lady who rang me up today even gave me a free garment bag! -1 star because the store was pretty busy and I waited in line for 10mins because there were only 2 cashiers working, but that's not their fault. Yesterday was a complete miss at this store, I bought a dress shirt for $70 bucks is too much without the coupon. I told them I left the coupon at home and if they could honor the discount they were offer that day. They said no I need the coupon. This low rating is for the poor and rude customer service experienced at Express on December 12, 2013 at 7:50 p.m and for a customer-unfriendly store policy. The young woman that helped me was fine, but her co-worker, 'J' (won't use her full first name) was rude. The store manager may be interested to know that 'J' did a GREAT job of enforcing their store policy of NO PRICE ADJUSTMENTS during a STORE-WIDE SALE. Even though I paid full price just two days prior to my sweater going on sale? Well, that's crazy. So I opted to return the sweater that I had paid full price for and said that I would just rebuy it at the current 40% off. 'J' said, "you'll have to go get it off the floor (not literally)" and no, she didn't know where they were in the store or if there were any left. Having worked for corporations, I understand the difficulty of having to enforce an unreasonable policy but there are ways to do it that show that you actually care about the customer. When a customer walks away feeling admonished and chastised, it's not a good thing. I have been an Express customer for many years and was very disappointed by this poor customer service experience. I would never have paid full price in the first place because their clothing, although nice, is way overpriced. I thought the sweater I had purchased was on sale due to their confusing signage throughout the store which I imagine serves a purpose. I may return to Express but I'll stick to the Capitola location where the staff is generally nice and helpful. Maybe retail at Christmas isn't a job for everyone? read more

Crystal is amazing!! She greeted us immediately and hooked us up with a express membership that gave us 20% off our purchase. I've shopped at Express before and I've never heard of this! One of my friends is curvy and expressed that she was worried about us not having her size, but Crystal assured her that the new jean campaign was size inclusive and was able to point out several styles in her size and she had jeans in short 2 for me. Even though she was busy helping out other guests, she found time for us and offered some suggestions for a capsule wardrobe. Most places I have to beg for assistance, but she checked up on us in the fitting room and offered "wardrobe builders" that she thought we might like. Unfortunately when i do actually have a question, it takes some time before i get a responsive sales rep. I really like the clothing here, and was talked into buying a 1MX fitted button up as well as a couple other small accessories. I bought my wife a "Dressy Paints" #92750850 for Christmas. She found out there is a tore on the zipper. I bought it on Dec 24 at 5:55PM and tried to return it at 7Pm on Dec 28. I'm not a experience shopper on women clothes, so I chose that paints without any tags on and the pants had been wore but I did not know. When I returned the paints, the cashier and store manager denied to return the pants. I just want to say "If you don't accept return wore and tore pants, please don't sell wore and tore pants. manager was not even there to help. So, I'm not really used to the high school attitude of these associates. I came in looking for a sundress and trend tops. I ended up buying a pair of pants for $19.99; it was a good deal. I spent 40 minutes in the store, but 20 minutes was spent waiting for a fitting room. BTW, there are two fitting rooms. The right side was closed and no sign letting us know. Yet, there were 8 of us waiting. I had to walk over to the cashier and interrupt her to get assistance as other associates were nowhere to be found as they're in the back chatting with each other. The fiting room was dirty with clothes and hangers on the floor, needle on the floor, pins on the floor, etc. I was so annoyed with the lack of hooks to hang my clothes and purse, lack of associates to even open the door. Can you please get rid of the keys and just let us in? Why is it that it takes 20 minutes for one of you four girls to open the fitting room? Do you ever acknowledge your customers? You act like customers aren't even around. When we ask you a question, you roll your eyes and then bat your eyes with a fake smile. Nothing is more annoying than your "artificially nice" attitudes. While, on the other side, there's only two cashiers. I couldn't tell if there was a single line, or a line for each cashier. Everyone was taking cuts. Cashiers didn't seem to care as they just ignored the fights in line. Inefficient long lines to say the least. And then to top it off, the cashier knows I'm pist, so she gives a fake smile, bats her eyes at me and says "Did you find everything OK?"----What do you think? Of course, the answer is NO. Are you a robot? Sometimes I wonder why I even came in here to shop? I really don't appreciate the fake smiles and gestures. There are hundreds of other stores to shop at in this mall; don't shop here. Poor service, bad attitudes from associates, long lines, cashiers worked very slowly and have no sense of urgency....and I could never find the help to find the right size and color of a particular dress. I left here so frustrated. I try to like this store. I visit at least 4 times a year. Every time I come in I get this snooty look and completely artificially nice attitudes. I had bought my boyfriend some expensive Photographer pants for a trip to Vegas. He wore once and put them back in his suitcase. When we got back from our trip, he was about to iron them for a presentation when he discovered a rip. It was a rip from wearing his wallet. I didn't pay $150 for an item to be worn once. I went back to the Express Men Store and asked for a manager. A young girl(I did't catch her name) said she could help me and looked at the pants and said we could exchange for the exact same item. She took it upon herself to find the color and size and proceeded to ring up my transaction, finding my receipt through my reward points. I was seriously in and out in 10 mins. Though, the original pants quality was questionable after this, the customer service made up for the inconvenience. I'm hoping this pair doesn't rip as well. I shop here primarily for professional work clothes, but they have a really good selection of wear-anywhere pencil skirts and coats. They also have really good sales if you have the patience to look. I found a black coat for only 40 bucks! and in a size XS! They can be pretty expensive too, like a pencil skirt is around 88 dollars, but they always have deals like buy one get one 50% off, so it averages out to be 66 each. Pricey, but it's the price I pay to look good at work. I also read this article that if you dress for the job you want you have a better chance at getting it than a person who wears jeans and a t-shirt to work. Anyway, their sales associates are really helpful too even though they only earn commission when someone signs up for a credit card. read more

I give Express 4 stars for their jeans alone. Everything else is kind of over-priced and looks better on the mannequins than me, but their jeans are AMAZING. I know that I can come up to the Stella section, find my size, and they will automatically fit. Let me add 1 to the asian men who shop at express. After having gotten into a career where slacks and a dress shirts are mandatory, I found this place to be very helpful. The cuts of most of their clothing line are meant for slim males. Since I fall into that category their clothes were the best fit for me without having it be customized. The clothes are still a bit pricey as its on average 70 for slacks and 50-60 for a dress shirt. I took advantage of their offer on if you buy more you save more so my dress shirts came out to be $30. they also have coupons floating around the internet that may be of help. read more

If you shop right, you can get some good deals at Express. This would be my boyfriends first place to shop if he was looking for a good dress shirt. They also have very nice jackets. They are a bit overpriced, but with the coupons, you can get them at a pretty good deal. I recently bought my BF a jacket which was priced at $250, but I loved the style, good quality material, and fit. I found that it was 30% off and if you have a coupon and spend over $100 you get $50 off. I used both of those deals and got his jacket for about $137. I shop at this Express every once in a while just to browse and I recently came in because I needed help. I received a skirt as a xmas gift, it still had its tags, I didn't have the gift receipt, and I wanted to exchange it. I went to the register and asked if it were possible to do an exchange. She said it would have to be with something that's the same price as what I had. I even EXPLICITLY asked her if the price on the tag was the current price and she confidently said yes. I said OK great. So I spent a good 30-45min. to find something I liked so exchange it with that was the same price. Their clothes fit me funny since I'm very petite and have curves so only one thing ended up looking nice. So I went back up to the register to do my exchange. The lady scans the items and says they aren't the same price and that the skirt I had went on sale. I told her I had another lady check for me and said that the price on the tag was the current price. After a couple minutes of arguing I decided this wasn't worth it. They made a mistake and should have honored it like all other stores do, but instead they made me waste all my time and energy on them. Ughh.... never again! read more

I've been to a few different expresses but none were at great as the Valley Fair location. My husband and I went in to this location to get my husband a suit for a very big job interview and we had the best service I've ever had at a Express. The girl in the fitting room was more then helpful and the guy working also was extremely helpful with helping him see what size fit him the best and what would work for his build. After checking out we got home and realized that they mistakenly left 3 out of the 5 senors on the suit separates, I called back and spoke with a manager and she was so nice I let her know that the interview was that next morning and she told me to come in at 7am to get those senors off in time for this interview at 10am.
