Had a minor toilet emergency -- and really, whenever you have an issue like that it's not really minor -- and these guys came through like heroes. Called at 12:40 on a Wednesday, dispatcher said they could have someone out between 1-3 TODAY, and in about 45 minutes a technician was here. Fixed our issue within minutes and then attended to another issue that was just a quick fix (for him haha) at not charge. Can't recommend Express highly enough. I always gets at least three estimates for any big job that needs to be done on my house. Express was my third estimate. I just had a huge root snaked from my sewer line last week. My plumber suggested I get a company that deals with sewer lines to check out the lines. He doesn't do big work anymore. Tyler, was fantastic. On time, friendly and knowledgeable. He confirmed what the technician from Affordable Trenchless told me on Tuesday that my sewer line was fine. OK, now I am not happy that I needed to call a plumber AGAIN for Thanksgiving. I was super careful this year, but because I am cursed I had a backup. However I knew who I would call again. EXPRESS to the rescue. Now, it was a Friday and technically a holiday so I was not able to use the coupon I found online. But still the service fee under $150 was well worth it. That same day our technician showed up and started to snake. It did not work, and he took the time to figure out what was going on and we moved the snake and got the blockage to go and YEA water went down. After getting a VERY high quote from a large plumbing chain for work we didn't really think we needed, we have Express a call after hearing great things. At that point, we were under the impression that we needed a major hydro jetting service and that our kitchen line had severe build up and blockages. James called a few hours earlier than our appointment window to ask if he could arrive early - of course! He wore a mask and practiced social distancing which we were glad about. James immediately took me outside to show me video of his camera inspecting our pipes. He proceeded to explore both my kitchen line and then the main line down to the sewer. Guess what? No blockages at all! He told me he was glad we called, spent some time educating me on some plumbing stuff and charged a very reasonable hourly rate. Short story: Didn't have a great experience with this company. Their office staff seems disorganized, and the field tech arrived without appropriate tools to do the work. Long Story: Booked an appt to have my sewer line hydrojetted because our washer and nearby sink were running slow and have been clogged in the past. They quote me a rate for the first hour, then a lower rate for subsequent hours, depending on how long it takes. Then my wife tells all of our neighbors who we booked an appt with. We then see Express Sewer come to service our neighbors the day BEFORE our appt. On the day of our appt, they don't show. When I call, they haven't heard of me, and we need to book another appt another week out. OK, I guess they got confused from multiple appts on the same street. It happens. When the tech arrives, he hydrojets the main sewer line because it's easily accessible from the main cleanout in my yard. The clogged laundry line isn't along the main sewer line, but he wants to start there. Then he's going to jet the laundry drain line. When he goes to start on the laundry line, he can't remove the cleanout cap with is fingers, and he doesn't have a cleanout wrench to remove the cleanout cover. I had the cover off myself a year or two prior, but I also don't have a cleanout wrench so I previously had to do a lot of fiddling around with incorrect tools to get the cover off. (which is why I just hired a plumber this time). He says for another $250 he can come back another day and break the cap out and replace it, but he'll have to schedule for another day to do that. He recommends that I remove the cap myself if I had it off before and he'll hydrojet the lateral again for a reduced price. I wasn't excited about 1) needing to remove the cap myself 2) paying him to hydrojet the main line and 3) needing to pay him again to come back. I mean, I could have bought a pressure washer with a hydrojet tip for the money I already paid him. It takes me a couple of months to order a cleanout wrench and loosen the cleanout cap due to holidays, etc. (I originally decided to not do this myself because I really didn't have time or mental energy to dedicate to it.) When I call back to schedule the follow-up hydrojet, the office staff tells me the previous service only covered the main sewer line, and there would be an additional $500 to hydrojet the laundry side line. i.e. they won't come back for a reduced price as the tech previously told me. I express my displeasure for this, so they offer to re-jet the main line since it's under warranty for free, but it will cost $500 if we want them to do the laundry side line. What!? You'll send someone out for 20 mins for free to re-do the line that never needed done in the first place? But you won't come do the only line that needed done in the first place for anything less than the $500 hydrojet fee? At this point, I'm tired of being jerked around and don't want to give these people any more of my time or money. Someone else came and jetted the laundry line the next day. No problems since. A day later, I get a call from their office. Their tech is on his way to my house with a hydrojet. Unclear if they were planning to charge for this. I told them someone else already took care of it. Find another plumber in Sacramento -- this company apparently doesn't have emergency service. I had an emergency that needed urgent attention, but the earliest they could come was 4-5 days out. The technician on the phone refused to let me book an appointment after I indicated that I might need to cancel if I found another company that could come sooner, which...wouldn't happen if YOU would come sooner. Technician was also kind of rude. Listen, 4-5 days delay in scheduling an appointment when you advertise 24-hour service is unacceptable. It's too bad, because I've had good experiences from Express in the past. Now I'll never call them again. read more

Called over the weekend about a bathroom sink with a clogged drain and broken p-trap. Couldn't come out that day but I got a call from the office first thing on Monday to schedule an appointment. That sink had a couple of long-time issues I told the appointment scheduler about (leaky faucet and lower water pressure) and was assured they could fix those was well. Tech arrived to our first appointment on time but didn't fix the problem...just scoped it out and promised to be back to fix later in the week. The tech left after the second appointment with the leaky faucet and the lower water pressure issues unaddressed and told me he would have to come back a third time to get to those. Apparently, this company schedules in 2-3 hour blocks of time and if a job isn't finished when the block of time estimated for the job is over, they just leave and require an additional appointment to finish. This is the first time I've experienced this sort of scheduling, especially since, as a result of the first visit earlier in the week, they were well aware of the scope of the work that needed to be done. Won't go through this again...there are plenty of plumbers in Sacramento. read more

With no working toilets or showers, this was not an option. Express was recommended by one of the other plumbers who did not have any availability. Ryan came out within 3 hrs of my call, he was professional, and he went above and beyond to fix my issue. We could not find our clean out, but he didn't hesitate to get out his shovel and dig until he found it (under a good twenty years of yard accumulation). I have had several companies come out to give me an estimate on replacing my shower valve. Instead of trying to fix it there suggestion was to re-pipe my whole house which will cost around $5000.00. My house is old. Everything about it is old and was needing repair when I moved in and that includes the plumbing. I had had a plumbing inspection and the drain lines cleaned and scoped and knew that the main sewer line was old clay pipe with roots getting into it and that it would need to be replaced probably sooner rather than later if I wanted to avoid worse problems and expense. The estimate at the time for trenchless lining was $5,000 and would be even more cost to have a clean-out installed for the city (just where it would destroy a rose bush I didn't want to lose). With as many other repairs and improvements the house needed to make it livable I put off the dreaded and horrendously expensive sewer line fix; that is until recently when I saw an e-mail pop up from Angie's List offering Trenchless Sewer Lining by Express for $1,649. Wow! Just what I was needing with a savings I couldn't resist. I immediately signed up for that deal. When I called to schedule I was a bit confused and put-off because the person I was speaking to seemed to have no idea what deal I was talking about. He said he would contact the owner and get back to me. Turns out this was something brand new and the owner has been so busy he forgot to mention it to his employee, thus the confused response I got. With that straightened out my questions were answered and an appointment was scheduled. Nice young men showed up and got to work, but unfortunately what they found was what I already knew and was expecting because of the broken sidewalk and sinking street. There was a break in my line, and they also found that my old drain was nearly level and not properly sloped. Because of these issues trenching was going to be necessary, but even with that added expense it was still a great saving, and they also told me they could dig out the roses I wanted to keep so they could be set aside and replanted rather than simply ripping them out. While they were here and digging they also offered to dig anywhere else I might need help, and thanks to that I was able to get a lemon tree planted in my back yard that I couldn't have handled on my own. They also did some other soil loosening and digging for me that had nothing to do with this job but was done just to be helpful. You've got to love that kind of service that goes above and beyond. Because of needing to coordinate work with the City (and the City not being very organized or prompt), work had to wait and I was left with a mess for several weeks rather than just a few days. To make up for the delay and inconvenience (even though it was not their fault) they took another $500 off their charges for this job. I said, "Saving money is good. Saving a lot is even better. Thank you!" I'm definitely a happy customer and would recommend this company to anyone needing their services. read more

It was "ok". The tech they sent fixed what he could. Problem not solved as it will require more expensive handling. So still have the problem. Not their fault though. However the guy they sent had no other suggestions or ideas of what could be done - and I thought they were a little pricey for what they did. He also borrowed the hose to try to help with one of the problems, but then I found the next day he failed to put it back. Just sort of sloppy. He was courteous enough and seemed competent enough in the simplicity of unplugging a drain and roto-ing some roots out of a pipe. But beyond that not super impressive. Had I not been in a rush to get someone there I think I would have been better off with a sole proprieter - one man band - guy who would be more reasonable in the rates and more interested in satisfying the client. Maybe the company owners care about quality of service - but when it comes down to just the hired guns, I don't think they are very into doing anything more than just what they came to do and get in and get out and move on - and oh well if the problem is still there - if you have another chunk of money I can stay and fix it for you. But oh, I don't have that equipment on my truck and would have to reschedule. Yeah.... not super happy with this experience. read more

The kitchen drain line on one of my new listings has had blockage issues for years and has gotten progressively worse! My plumber recommended we contact Express Sewer & Drain. I had originally requested a camera inspection to determine the cause. You can imagine my surprise (and delight) to receive a call from the technician (Max) that morning. He asked detailed questions about the problem and let me know that he would have to snake the line in order to run the camera. The total for both would be $375. He was confident that this was NOT the route that would be best for my client. His experience indicated his findings would lead us to having to hydrojet the line to clear the clog. That would cost $350. Well, that is a no-brainer! Because he took the time to ensure the consumer was getting the best possible advice (even before going out) we opted for the hydrojet and the problem was solved. Had he just went out and performed the procedure for which we asked, it would have resulted in a cost of $725 instead of $350. This, my friends, is top-notch consumer care. read more

Please be warned! Very shady business conduct. I made an appointment with Express Sewer & Drain to inspect the sewer system on a rental property my wife and I were preparing to purchase. The appointment was confirmed for a Thursday. I explained to the Field Tech and Business Associate that I had to have the report by that Sunday at the very latest. Our contract closed on that Monday. We had to have the report and video to satisfy the lender. The Field Tech showed up and did the inspection, but his company-issued hard drive was full. He was unable to record the sewer inspection video, which is part of the service. Despite this, the Business Associate called to collect payment. I said I wasn't comfortable paying, because I hadn't received the report or the video. She promised me they'd get me both before my deadline and have the Tech go back out into the field to re-record. At that time, assuming I received the report and video, I could make the payment. Cool. Sunday rolls around and I have not received the video or the report, not even a call about the status of the video and report. This was a total inconvenience because we had signed a contract with the loan company stating the report would be included in our findings. Monday passes. No video. No report. Then I receive a phone call from the Business Associate saying they have my video and report. Way after we'd already closed on the property; way after my promised deadline of Sunday the week of the original inspection; way after their 48-hour guarantee. The woman was extremely combative, totally unwilling to hear me out and understand why I wouldn't pay for a service I didn't receive. The report and video were of no use to me by the time she called. All because their Field Tech hadn't had his hard-drive operable to begin with. Erg! She demanded payment. When I told her I would not pay for it (as I still had not received anything), she told me she was sending me to collections! Haha. Wow. She told me to never call Express Sewer & Drain again and hung up on me. Awesome customer service. So there you have it. Be warned! There's so many options out there. Upon inspection, it was clear that the mulberry tree roots in the front of the house were eating away and clogging two areas of the line. They gave me a quote on changing out the sewer line. After I bought the house (sellers gave me a discount on the house after they saw the video of the sewer) and it came time to deal with the sewer line, I got a second and third quote to change out the sewer line to see if I could get it any cheaper. Turns out Express Sewer had all of them beat by several hundred dollars. When I called them back to discuss my options they were straight up with me. They told me I could pay them to do the whole job or I could save money by digging up the line myself, and then they would come in and switch out the line. I had been out of town and came home Sunday afternoon to find an exterior pipe that was spraying a lot of water. I called Express Plumbing and within an hour their technician Max was at my house. He fixed the pipe and also detected that I had another problem with the shut off valve. He came back on Monday exactly at the time he said he would and did the repair. Not only was there no extra charge for coming out on Sunday, but I was able to get a senior discount. Also, Max was very nice, professional, and presented himself well. Express sewer was doing work for sac county sewer FYI. They were pouring concrete on the other side of my fence because they ripped it up to get to a sewer pipe. long story short my pool pump was leaking and the water trail ended up on the side walk where they were pouring new concrete. They took it upon themselves to turn a bunch of valves on my pool filtration system and pool solar to try and stop the leak and basically created a pressure cooker with my pool filter casing and blew it up. Then they lied about it. The foreman's name was Wyatt he took off before I got home and left his (Hispanic) workers behind that don't want any trouble which I didn't give any trouble because they didn't do it obviously by the looks of the note he left me and the way they were talking to me and then he took off because he was embarrassed or something or scared of losing his job. Anyways It took me about a month but I'm getting reimbursed through sac county sewer so just be aware of these HACKS!!!!!!! read more

Just a few hours ago, a crew from Express Sewer & Drain left our property. After more than a week of placing a clean-out for the Sacramento Sewer District, the job was completed. The crew was the best I have ever experienced in my life! These guys were not only experts in their job, but courteous, friendly and just simply nice! After turning the back of our property into a pile of dirt and holes, they left leaving it looking better than before! Every little detail was taken care of. The bricks were placed back into their place, the driveway pressure washed and our shed, which had to be moved, was moved back and is now more stable than before.
