On 10/02/2012 we unfortunately had a sewage back-up that we thought was just a plugged up toilet. It turned out to be that it was a major back-up from the county main line which was backing up into our home. Long story short, over two months later and 10's of thousands of $$$$$'s later in repairs, turns out our sink and bathtub were still not draining very well( actually very,very slowly). Considering that we are still waiting for an insurance reimbursement check from the Sacramento County Sewer District's, "SCSD", insurance company(Sierra Pacific Insurance), I contacted them and sent several pictures showing the plugged drains and tub overflow, requesting that a plumber be sent out to repair them. I was told that neither Serv- Pro or the construction company that handled all the repairs/remodeling didn't normally take care of this type of issue and that I would need to call a plumbing company myself and seek reimbursement after. I felt that this should have been handled in the early stages of the clean-up/restoration in October (especially when it was now early December and that the crews and their "Supervisors" all knew the sewage had even backed-up into the bathtub and overflowed throughout all the bottom floor rooms), but that I now found out it wasn't when we tried to use the facilities. I called Bonney Plumbing and they sent out technician MARC MATHIS, a very courteous, professional, knowledgeable and personable individual. After I explained my plumbing problem and concerns, Marc thoroughly explained what he would need to do to fix the back-up and restore our drains back to proper working order. At that time Marc also informed me up front what It would cost for the inspection and repair and also gave me a written estimate. I thanked him and let him know that considering the cost, I was going to need to contact the insurance agent first to see if he would consider contacting Bonney Plumbing to do the repairs and have them be billed. At this time I was also very impressed with Marc and the fact that he didn't try to pressure me into having him do the work now while he was here, or tell me something like it could cost more to have him come back, or even that it might cost more to have a different company do the repairs. He understood the situation and that I had already had to use my credit cards to replace some of my furnishings etc. while I've been waiting for the reimbursement check from the county's insurance company. At that time, Marc said OK and left, even being courteous to not take his shoe coverings off until he was outside. SERVICE CALL & UPDATE FROM COUNTY SEWAGE BACK-UP INTO MY HOME 12/24/2012 Could not get SCSD ins. rep to call a plumber out to unplug my drains as I was told that the county doesn't do any work on the customers side of the lateral and it would be best for me to call a plumber myself and seek reimbursement. I FEEL THAT IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR "SacCountySewerDistrict and their insurance company SierraPacificInsurance" TO EXPECT THE PROPERTY OWNER TO HAVE TO HIRE THE APPROPRIATE REPAIR ENTITY, PAY THEM, AND THEN WAIT 4 to 6 WEEKS (SCSD's STANDARD WAITING PERIOD), FOR REIMBURSEMENT, AS IF WE ASKED FOR THEIR PLUGGED LINE TO AFFECT OUR RESIDENCE!!!!! Fortunately, BONNEY PLUMBING et al; is VERY PROFESSIONAL, unlike the two other entities mentioned above. I called them and scheduled an appointment, requesting their employee, MARC MATHIS, to come out due to his familiarity with the problem and we also appreciated his courteousness and professionalism. Marc showed up within the scheduled time,(earlier than I expected), and was able to complete the job quicker then he previously told us(WAY TO GO MARC)! I REALLY APPRECIATE BONNEY PLUMBING AND THEIR EXCEPTIONALLY PROFESSIONAL,COURTEOUS AND PERSONABLE EMPLOYEES AND I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO HIRE THEM AGAIN FOR ANY JOB THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF. I ESPECIALLY WOULD RECOMMEND THEIR PLUMBER, MARC MATHIS, IF YOU NEED A PLUMBER THAN HE IS THE ONE. MARC IS DEFINITELY THE "ELITE OF THE ELITE" WITHIN HIS TRADE! *** ALSO, something I learned from this whole experience, if you have a problem similar to this, contact your Utility Company(s) first. About six weeks ago our old AC unit (not installed by Bonney) started venting coolant into the ducting... We didn't know what the white haze coming out of the vents was and the fire department came out to check... After determining it wasn't a fire, I called 6 different HVAC contractors... Bonney was the only one to have a live human being answer the phone. We've used Bonney in the past for plumbing work and have been happy with the results, so I was pleased when they had a technician out the same day who determined that the coils on our old unit had irreparably cracked and it was time for a new system (the old one was 17 years old). Bonney sent a sales person out the same day who sold us a Ruud single stage system (AC, blower, gas furnace) for $17,000 all up. I asked the sales person if there was much difference between the brands and was told that they're all the same, that his parents have a Ruud they're happy with... and that if I wanted he could sell me an American Standard unit for an extra $1400 or so but that he didn't think it would be any different. Based on his recommendation we went with the Ruud. They did the install just 3 days later, which was great timing considering it was a hot week. For reasons I can't venture to guess, they actually installed a 2-stage system in our house, a Ruud RA15AZ48AJ3CA air conditioner and matching blower and furnace. They probably thought they were giving me a free upgrade... they were not. This unit has been a disappointment from the moment it was installed. We've had a technician out 3 times and have it sorta to an acceptable state, but I'm looking forward to 15 years from now replacing it with a unit that actually functions how it should. On install the "fan only" mode was not available. Because it is a 2 stage system and we only had a 5 wire line, the installers did not wire up the fan. We eventually got this resolved only to find out that the Ruud multi-stage blower in "fan only" mode will only run at the slowest possible speed unless you buy a Ruud/Rheem thermostat... go look at the reviews of those thermostats on Amazon and the matching app reviews on Google/Apple to understand why we chose not to do that. So "fan" mode technically runs, but you can't tell unless you're holding a tissue up to one of the vents... this is a definite downgrade from every other HVAC I've ever had. The second problem was that the outdoor unit was incredibly loud on install. This ended up being 2 separate issues... The first is that one of the side panels reverberated like it was a tuning fork. We eventually resolved this by leaning a rubber diving brick against it... a bit of redneck engineering that does fix the problem even if it looks odd (at least its in a part of the yard no one sees). The second noise problem is that on the low speed, the Ruud RA15AZ48AJ3CA has a screeching high pitched sound that we could hear everywhere in the backyard and even inside parts of the house. Bonney sent technicians out 3 separate times and they all told me it was normal, even if they agreed it was annoying... friends and neighbors who listened to it agreed with my wife and I that it was not normal and we were getting blown off. I tried contacting Ruud directly but they politely and firmly told me they wouldn't help me directly and I had to go through the contractor. Ultimately we solved this by having Bonney disconnect the low speed stage of the AC... so it is effectively a single stage unit for AC. I have mixed feelings about this, on the one hand, we only paid for a single stage unit, and in effect that's what we have... seems like a bit of a waste, and if other matching units are similar there is clearly an engineering mistake in the design of the system. In summary... in an emergency, Bonney is great, someone will answer the phone and they'll send a tech out. If you have more time, I cannot recommend them for an HVAC install. If you do have them do an install, do NOT get a Ruud / Rheem and especially do not get a Ruud RA15AZ48AJ3CA. I will still call them for plumbing issues, but I (and I imagine Bonney as well at this point) wish one of the other 5 HVAC contractors I'd dialed 6 weeks ago had answered the phone. read more

Scott Kendricks was my service technician who was assigned to my request for a maintenance check-up/tune-up on my 10 year old HVAC system. I had never done any maintenance on my system prior to this, so I knew there were bound to be some additional costs. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30, and Scott was there to the minute. He put booties over his shoes and entered my home. After showing him where my furnace filter, HVAC unit and thermostat were located, he went to work. He was meticulous in cleaning and tuning every piece of my system and then discussed even the smallest details of what he did, what he recommends I do in the future to minimize problems and where there were issues. He even cleaned my re-usable air filter. Scott told me my heating system was working just fine, even after 10 years. But I did have two issues needing attention. (1) I had a 10' section of air duct under my house whose insulation was nearly worn off. (It's 30 years old). He quoted a price to fix this that was about the same as 3 other companies charged to do the same work. (2) My air conditioner showed a refrigerant leak. It had less than half of the needed refrigerant. This one cost me about $900 (so far). After consideration I paid the amount up front, as requested. But what I get for that money is about what the industry charges. For that price, Scott added 4 pounds of refrigerant (that's a lot), and some dye that will pinpoint where my system is leaking. Because it is winter and I don't use my air conditioner, I need to wait nearly two months before the blue dye can be detected in the leaking areas. If the leaks are in areas that only require brazing to fix, or if a "stop-a-leak" type product can be used for a fix, then Scott will perform the necessary work and re-charge my system, and no additional charges would be incurred. If it turns out I need a new part, Scott will work with the system manufacturer to procure the part under warranty. I like the fact that this company is doing all the legwork. The only thing that gave me pause had nothing to do with Scott, but was Bonney's policy. They have a policy when dealing with senior citizens where work exceeds a certain dollar amount, that their office talk directly with the customer to ensure the customer understands what is being charged and what work needs to be done. In other words, they want to make sure they aren't taking advantage of the elderly. This may seem like a good policy, and perhaps it is; however, I interpret it as a way to cover their rear-end, and question why their rears need covering in the first place. Besides, the discussion that occurred over the phone would not really provide Bonney the ability to determine if I was senile, so I don't see the real purpose of this policy. I am so blessed that Bonney helped me out with replacing my entire unit and enlarged my return duct for me at no cost, after I had just bought my first home only to find out the A/C was leaking quite abut of oil after having 3 months of electric bills over $300 which were a result of the A/C running nonstop and never cooling the house down and turning off! After calls to my Home warranty company and them sending out one of their contracted HVAC companies (the technician was EXTREMELY BELITTLING & RUDE to sugar coat it) and told me they won't cover it with the warranty and to not bother fighting it and gave us a REDICULOUS estimate . My dad told me call Bonney for a second opinion since he was going to be the one helping me get this repaired as I am a divorced/single mom with 3 kids and I was headed to surgery in a couple weeks and would be in bed rest to recover (can't just lay in the heat for that I had so much chemo in the past couple years I am like hot flashing when others are comfortable)...so I called Bonney and they sent out Kirk the next day. REALLY SUPER NICE guy even my dog wanted to watch him instead of hide under the bed like he usually does when it's someone he doesn't know lol He was profession, courteous, explained everything and even went above and beyond in calling his boss to get a good price and waived the Consult fee! He talked to my dad on the phone explained everything and said they could come out that following Monday (4 days later). As if that wasn't awesome enough... Wait there is more. You could only imagine how it surprised me to get a call from Kirk the very next day asking if I would be home that afternoon his boss wanted to speak with me. So I pulled up to see two Bonney trucks and 6 guys in my yard at first I was a little worried but I got out to see what was going on. You can't even begin to imagine my surprise and shock when the big boss told me they wanted to replace my entire A/C Unit with a unit they have in their warehouse AT NO COST I Was at a loss for word and cried out of sheer amazement. I asked "why" and all he said was we want you to be comfortable and we know that you won't win the battle with your home warranty company and this could potentially cause your house to catch fire and we don't want that.Not only was I amazed but I realized how truly blessed I am to have called such an awesome company which actually cares about the people and it's community. It made me see there are still people and companies out there that genuinely care about other people. My grandfather recently had a clogged drain so we called Bonney after our American Home Shield Warranty service took hours to call back. Dustin showed up at our house on a Sunday morning, even earlier then we expected. They called before he came to make sure this was okay. He determined that our old house didn't have clean out so that needed to be installed. He put a camera down the main sewer line and found root intrusion in multiple locations. We were able to watch on his laptop as he pulled the camera up the pipe and see all of the roots and thinning of the old pipe. My grandfather decided to have that pipe replaced. Dustin also took some pictures while under the house to show us some leaks that he found. He wasn't pushy but recommended that we eventually get those repaired. My grandfather decided just to have it all fixed at once. Although he was unable to start the work on Sunday he cleared the blockage enough for us to do laundry and take showers. They returned on Monday and Tuesday to complete the work. Dustin was always very professional and kind to my grandfather. The county came out to do the final inspection on Wednesday. An assistant (I don't know his name) was sent to wait for the county and clean up the mess (back fill). I wasn't overly impressed with the assistants work, it was sloppy. Dustin said he would be off Thursday and Friday so he would return on Saturday to collect payment. Upon his return we had low water pressure in our kitchen sink so he checked this for us, even though this had nothing to do with the work he had done. The faucet was full of sediment so because of all the work we were paying for he replaced the faucet for free, saving my grandfather almost $400. The faucet is very nice, even better then the one we had. He also cleaned up some of the stuff the assistant failed to clean up. My grandfather had nearly $14,000 worth of work done with this company and so far we are happy. I would highly recommend this company of you want quality professional service. I'm sure you can find cheaper places but when having something like this done I would much rather go with a reputable company. The customer service when calling for an appointment was awesome as well. The only thing was that the automated lady kept telling me the wait time was less than one minute and I waited nearly 20 minutes for someone to answer my call. read more

To begin the process we received four estimates on the plumbing work we wanted done to our home. The work included new water main from the city system, a complete house re-plumbing, water supply and drain (Sewer.) Install of a recommended Halo 5 water conditioning system and by our request a Rinnai Direct Vent tank-less water heater system. All faucets replaced to include shower fixtures and new toilet. Our Bonney Plumbing estimate was not the cheapest quote but we were completely comfortable with how thorough and meticulous our technicians were before and while working the job. Patrick, the site Technician and his assistant Marty were extremely diligent to ensure no time was wasted in getting us back on line with water facilities in a timely manner. We had water and bathroom facilities in one week. My wife and I were able to reside at the residence for the week-end and the Job was complete in three more business days. Understand we do not live in a Mansion but you must admit the time frame I speak of above is pretty impressive for basically 2 technicians and a third tech named Mark who worked with the crew for two days to expedite completion of work on our 2 bed,1 bath, The Kitchen, and the Laundry room/w wet sink facilities that I might add did not exist at beginning of the job. Our house was built in 1935 and the original plumbing was about 80 years young made of (rusty galvanized steel and CAST IRON.) It is now the end of the second week since work began and is completed. The job done was most excellent. I feel it important to note my wife and I can appreciate there were no change orders or price adjustments generated by Bonney Plumbing due to unexpected complications resulting from oversight to the original bid. That's a big concern when bidding a huge undertaking as the job we had. I understand Bonney plumbing had a pretty rough spot during previous years. The company has been totally restructured to say lots of firing and hiring and is as I understand incorporated since then. We think their on the right track now. We signed up for the BAM service and had our plumbing inspection completed January 8, 2015, by Bonney Plumber, Dustin H. A courtesy reminder call was received the day before, as well as forty-five minutes prior to Dustin's arrival and his subsequent service call on February 5. He arrived as scheduled, on-time, as promised. First of all, this young man is friendly, personable, clean and polished. Not enough can be said about the importance of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and this Plumber has it ALL, is professional and efficient. Dustin took the time to explain his findings, was very knowledgeable, provided clear and sufficient detail and documented his recommendations with a written estimate. In addition, building code changes and current requirements were discussed and all questions were answered in understandable terms. At no time did I experience any sales pressure, which is so much appreciated. So back to the inspection, Dustin reported that the hot water heater was 18 years old, had significantly out lived its life expectancy, and the possibility of failure was imminent. The hot water heater closet is in our hallway. Fast forward less than 30 days, I discover on Saturday afternoon that the hot water heater was leaking and the drain pan was full. I called Bonney and on Sunday Dustin brought us the new hot water heater, drain pan, expansion tank, disconnect, drains/pipes and new sub floor, which he installed after removing the old materials, including removing the door, framing and moulding. Dustin explained what he was doing, why it was necessary and every stage in the process, until the work was completed. Before leaving, Dustin explained the permit process, what to expect and the associated fees. Once again, and as promised, the Nevada County Building Permit packet was received. The process was seamless. Bonney staff scheduled the inspection. The inspector arrived as scheduled, and the inspection passed. A side note, all homes must have the required smoke detector/alarms as well as the carbon monoxide detector at time of inspection, unless you are all electric and have no attached garage. Bonney Electrical is the most dependable, professional and honest electrical company I've ever hired to do the electrical issues I have. I've dealt with several electricians in the past who tried to repair the issue but most of them repaired it temporarily and the issue returns. A lot of them are flaky, offered guarantees with their work but never returns calls. Some will give you an estimate but never shows up as agreed. Some will try to repair and end up with surprise charges but never fixed the issue. When my housekeepers recommended Bonney electrical; I almost wanted to give up that there's no one out there who is honest or dependable anymore. I've had so many good references but turned out to be flaky-chooses projects that are expensive and easy. Upon my housekeeper's high recommendation to try them; I did call. I'm glad I did. I spoke with their receptionist, who made a sooner appointment right away. I got to meet Si Dip and the whole crew. All of them were very professional , explained clearly what they're going to do, expectations, how long it would take them to do the job and how much it would cost. No hidden cost. No surprises. They were very attentive and even covered the trenches so that my dogs wouldn't fall into it. They accidentally cut one of the wire for the sprinkler but they were very honest to tell me about it and fixed it right away. They even replaced my broken outlet cover that's not included in our agreement. After they were done, they cleaned up after themselves. My electrical issue was resolved and work was professionally done. They met with the county inspector and everything passed. I never knew that reliable and honest business existed until I met them. Si and his crew were very polite and friendly- gave me that comfortable, family oriented atmosphere and security that they're not going to scam me. They were very professional from the very start to finish-the receptionist, Si and his crew including the guy from their office who checked all my sprinklers are working. Worst experience ever. I will never use Bonney's again. We have had them out a few times. The are very high priced but seemed honest enough until yesterday. A plumbing technician, Dustin Heffington came out on Monday to fix a simple leak. A 20 minute job. He didn't have the parts he needed with him so he tried to sell me a $10,000 dollar complete plumbing overhaul and said he could come back the next morning to either finish the repair or go for the $10,000 upgrade on our $22,000 trailer. When we chose not to commit to the $10,000 job everything went sour. we were put off until Dustin finished playing his softball at 7 pm and asked by the office if we just wanted to wait another day. Meanwhile my three children are living in a home without running water. He finally shows up to finish the job he started the day before, spends 15 minutes here (five of them doctoring the original invoice) then charged us a full $441 for the second visit contrary to our written agreement established the previous day. All said and done, two hairpin leaks took two almost three days to get 30 minutes of work done, and cost over $1000 dollars. Not only will I NEVER use Bonney's again, I am going to warn all of my friends and family to about these scandalous crooks. I love facebook. My friends in Africa and Australia will no better than to use Bonnie's plumbing now. UPDATE: Because Bonney failed to follow up or resolve the issue I have yelled Bonney sucks every time I drive by a Bonney plumbing van. Today a technician chased me down out of a school zone where I had picked up my kids, stopped in the middle of the street and began yelling at me threatening to jump out of his work truck and "kick my @$$." I said that was very unprofessional of him. He said he was off the clock. Cars were stopped behind us, If the guy is so humiliated working for a disreputable company he should find another job instead of committing misdemeanor threats in public.
