We were on vacation in Fredericksburg, Texas when our rental car had a blowout. Unbeknownst to me rentals, ours anyway, doesn't have spare tires or jacks so I called AAA and they sent a tow truck. AAA and I decided to haul the car to Express Tire & Brake but, since this occurred on Sunday, Express was closed. Anyway, Monday morning Express said no prob, they would look at the tire to determine what was what. The tire was indeed blown and they--Bobby--promised to have a new tire installed that afternoon and indeed that happened. The two guys with whom I spoke were friendly and helpful. If I lived in Fredericksburg TX, Express Tire & Brake would be my tire company. read more

I had a low tire pressure warning. I stopped to see about getting the tire filled. They wanted to charge $10 to put air in 1 tire, needless to say - I passed. Now I need new tires and I will not go to them, I don't know if they are going to rip me off or not. Seriously, $10 to check and add air to a tire. 2011 F-150 pick-up sole owner... Wednesday Oct 25th I went to your shop for an oil leak. On the rack for inspection I was told a new gasket was necessary. I agreed to the repair and was quoted a reasonable price for the repair....I agreed and was given a 9:00 o'clock appointment for Friday Oct 10th. I arrived as agreed to, told the same young man my name and what the repair was. He shuffled papers, punched computer keys and didn't know what I was talking about and said that he must have lost the papers?? I shook my head, said "What a waste" turned and walked out and he said nothing else, he just watched the money go out the door. Now I have to find a reliable shop to make my repair. read more

I have had several encounters with this shop. None were positive. 1) OVER PRICED! 2) NOTHING IN STOCK! (No I don't want to wait on my tires) 3) inspections are a joke here, I pulled a travel trailer to get inspected. The guy who did this was quite rude, didn't know exactly where to point us to get the vin number put on the trailer (since we HAD TO have it) 4) customer service even with other customers was horrible. I understand you're a mechanic, but still that requires customer service at a shop. Don't talk to people like they are morons because you "think" you know more than them... I will forget more than most of your guys will ever know. 5) after spending about a thousand dollars on 4 regular off brand tires here (my dad did on his truck).. I was quoted 150/160 dollars for ONE TIRE! The tire was 120 dollars (wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over priced) and they wanted to charge me 30 dollars for mount and balance. I'm sorry but this shop is trash, looks like trash and is run by trash. I will NEVER do business with them nor recommend their services for anyone. I gave them more than two chances. Do not have any mechanical work done here! Under the new ownership they have no honesty, integrity or knowledge mechanically speaking. Their sole goal is to see how much they can convince you that your vehicle requires and then do more damage! They knowingly overcharge, do work and/or replace parts that don't need replacing, etc., without permission. We're at the point that if they don't respond to the case that the BBB has filed against them on our behalf then we're going to sue them. We are filing the forms by end of this week. read more

Made appt on Saturday for 8:30am Monday for an oil change and tire rotation--pretty basic stuff, right? Two hours later they were finally done. Also $85 for a tire rotation and oil change--not kidding. Also they no longer do inspections except on Saturday and I mean ONLY inspections. No other work. read more

I came in at 4:10 pm to get a simple flat repair. This is Friday the 3 rd of january. David finally came back from going to the bank and said he would try to fix it. Well after waiting over an hour was told they didn't have time even though I'm now stranded in Fredericksburg. Been coming there 5 years and have known David a long time. So much for customer service to local residents I've spent a lot of money there over the years. The one tire person was new and moved like a snail. No sense of urgency very disappointed. Will look for a new place tomorrow and hopefully Goodyear or Walmart will help me. As I said I'm stranded and will have to stay the night and hope I can find help. Some small town hospitality. Days back I paid over $555.00 to have my water pump replaced and the timing belt. This is what they told me I needed. Then after not hearing back, I called and they said my car was ready. I picked it up at their closing time which I later realized was intentional. I got less then a mile away and knew something was very wrong. I went to shift (2005 Dodge Neon/ Standard) and the engine revved up but there was suddenly little to no power to the wheels!! I was shocked as this was a brand new issue!! I was closer to home then the shop so I quickly parked it and called. A mechanic then admitted that he had had my engine running ALL DAY to look for a leak in Texas heat!! The owner refused to take the call so I brought it in first thing in the morning. Their response was unconscionable and shocking: They gave me a $670.00++ estimate to fix my clutch!!!! They have ruined my car and want MORE MONEY to "fix it!!!" From the onset I was crystal clear when I handed my keys over stating that my car had better be in near perfect condition as I was giving them 3 months of savings that had been intended for my son's September Army Cavalry Scout graduation ceremony. It was my son that told me to use it to fix my car as he is that selfless. The shop then assured me again when I reiterated this expectation in telling me that my vehicle had been inspected top to bottom. So- now I am out over $550.00, my car does not work and I cannot attend my son's Army graduation!! I am heartbroken, sick and in shock. This is a cruel, unimaginable act. I am also disabled from a motorcycle wreck so now I am praying that anyone with any ideas that I've not yet explored to solve this will post a response. Thank you and God Bless. read more

This place is awesome and they really treat you good. Being new to Texas I had to get their wacky state inspection to get my car registered and these guys seemed to be the only place in town that can do it. There's another place down the road with a Matt Foley, the Chris Farley "VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER" looking guy that is hard to get a hold of. This place was fast and got me out of there in a hurry with no nonsense. I will definitely use these guys for tire business and this stuff. They also rent U-Haul equipment so if I ever need that I will use them. If you're in Fredericksburg don't go anywhere else for tires, U-Haul, and state inspections. read more

I was in the middle of traveling from San Antonio to Lubbock with three dogs in the car mind you. I stopped here because my tire pressure indicator went off. They guys there were so nice and fit me in right away. They were even really nice to my dogs! The technician was very thorough and took his time to find the problem. Not only that, he didn't charge me! I tried to pay and he wouldn't take it. It's so awesome to receive this kind of customer service. This sort of thing is rare these days. My husband and I have taken our cars into Express Tire and Brake multiple time for oil changes, car inspections, brake work, belt changes, and general auto repairs. The owner and staff have always been polite, helpful, and diligent workers. Pricing is comparable to other shops in area and wait time better than average. When busy, we have been given accurate time lines and can wait, leave car, or choose to come back a different day. Owner has been fair, honest, and knowledgeable. We had a blowout 4 miles outside of Fredericksburg on our camper on the way to vacation. We called them up, noting that they were closing in 20 minutes and checked to see that the tire was in stock, and that they could accommodate us considering we were going to have to limp the distance there. When we arrived, 3 guys teamed up to change out 2 of the tires and get us back on the road. We were so appreciative, especially since it was the second blowout of the trip (the camper isn't used much and though the tires appeared to be okay, they were dry rotted). The first tire change was done by my husband I in a hot parking lot, so this was a lot nicer. :D They helped smooth over an otherwise rough trip. read more

Questionable ethics and business practices, poor dispute resolution and follow through.

Place is an absolute waste of time nothing like the guy, only one in the place, already in a bad mood, taking my keys and just setting them up behind the desk without giving me any time indication on how long it'll be nor anything else, while answering a call on the phone. Once done with the call, slams the door opening up into the shop and working on another person's car. Note myself and one other person were there. They need another staff member... I'll take my chances and fill up the spare tire with air up the road. read more

This Uniroyal auto shop provided great service for me this morning, when I came in right as they opened. I had an issue with the undercarriage of my tire, and they fixed it in five minutes and didn't charge me anything! Thank you so much for letting us keep on schedule for our road trip. read more
