Booked my first appointment here today for waxing: underarm and bikini. I booked online this morning for an afternoon appointment. It wad so easy and convenient. First, the shop is inside salon Istanbul. You can access it via 4001 Randolph bldg or through their door in the corner. I was greeted by a friendly male receptionist and was taken within 10 minutes of my appointment. Lin was pleasant patient and thorough. The salon is very clean and Lin was too..all of the equipment was sterile and no double dipping. Upon leaving I was given a discount for the inconvenience of waiting. What can I say about Sarah... plan and simple she is the best. Always on time, always polite and soo sweet. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. If its your first time she'll make you feel like you're at home and comfortable. Waxing is never pain free but her technique makes it manageable. Very clean and no double dipping. I found this place through a Groupon offer, but wasn't able to purchase the Groupon, sadly. I decided to come here anyway because of the great reviews. Sara is definitely in high demand and her receptionist books her every 15 minutes. Realistically, I know that no Brazilian takes 15 minutes so the reality is that you're probably going to have to wait. I did have to wait an extra 25 minutes, but I thought what the heck, the reviews make it sound like it's worth it. Sara is very friendly and sweet, and I liked her a lot. She made sure to use a new wax stick for every application, which ensured quality health precautions. I felt safe coming here. The wax wasn't too hot and she completed the process pretty quickly (20 min). The reasons I gave this place three stars vs. four or five were: 1. Having to wait so long for my appointment 2. Having to undress in front of Sara while she was in the room (what?! - mildly uncomfortable, even though she was about to see everything - I like having that moment to myself and have never had this happen at a salon before) 3. I was told by the receptionist at booking that I would receive $10 off for being a new client and then wasn't given that discount when I paid, even after mentioning it. Otherwise, I found the place to be clean, safe, and friendly. I would go back if I lived in the area or if it was convenient for me to get there. read more

I decided to give this place another chance, especially because they ended up apologizing for what happened first. So it's time for an update here. I've been back. No longer getting appointments with Sarah because when I do it ends up being pushed back once I'm already there. So I get it, she is busy. However, I've been seeing Mimi for a while now and she is -in my opinion- better. Not because she is more talented but because she is never in a rush, she takes her time and pays attention to the little details. I usually get brazilian, but the last time that I went I trusted Mim withi my eyebrows (which I'm very picky with) and she did an awesome job. I'll be back. read more

Within a week I had a terrible disappointment... Let me make it very clear... Sarah's customer service is awesome! She's a nice person. But unfortunately within a week i had several ingrown hairs!!! It was awful. Basically 4 years of consistent waxing (for of course smoother & even toned skin) gone down the drain!!! From ingrown hairs to the unbelieval itching of new growths I only experience when Ive shaved (never experienced this w/ previous waxing w/ my normal waxer in Baltimore). I asked her to use the 'self hardening' wax when i got there (that's all my normal waxer used for me)... but (respectfully) Sarah convinced me that she knew what was best for me & I should relax and let her do what she knows best. Sarah was quick and super friendly. I love that you can make an appointment online. Someone had mentioned that some of the staff randomly walked in -- I just wanted to make a note that there is a curtain inside the room by the door so if someone opened the door, there is still a (black) curtain therefore it adds another layer of privacy (at least the room I was in did). Let me just say I love love love Sarah!!! She's amazing and remembers me when I come in every so often. I've been going to Express Waxing for a Brazilian wax for about two years now, so I've been through almost all of the staff. Sarah is the absolute best, but she still speaks so highly of the rest of the staff. Appointments are incredibly easy to make, I often do them same day. I have had an instance before where Sarah may be a little behind or I was late, so in order to get you in and out they will try and place you with one of the other staff but I refuse!! I must have Sarah at this point and she knows I will wait so they don't even ask me anymore lol. I like her because it can be kind of awkward to have someone all in your space, but she talks to you and makes it a little less weird. She's always so quick I'm normally in and out within 15 mins, and she makes sure she gets everything (even if she has to go back and tweeze). Also, something that I find ridiculously important, THEY DON'T DOUBLE DIP IN THE WAX. After it's all said and done, I'm incredibly smooth and everything is perfect down there. I've visited other waxing salons and I've had terrible experiences, but I've never had one with Express Waxing. Even the price can't be beat at $50. I've been coming here since 2013 and have religiously booked appointments here since then! Seriously, I've seen everyone: Sarah, Lynn, Mimi, Chanada, Vimean... and all the ladies are so super sweet, efficient, quick, and professional. I haven't seen Sarah in a while (=*( I miss you so much, lady!) because of my work schedule, but my last few visits (and my go-to when Sarah's not available) have been with Lynn and I love her sooo much too. She's so attentive and makes sure there's no hair left behind. Online booking is easy. They're very flexible if there's an opening and you want to move your appointment time up (just a phone call away...) And I never have to come back for at least 4-5 weeks. The ladies know what they're doing and I love seeing them. I'm so bummed I no longer live across the street from the Ballston location, but duly noted - I will still be coming back when I can and am hoping to check out the Clarendon location soon since it's a little closer + has a parking lot. Tried and tested, for the last 4 years... the quality of service, customer service, and cleanliness of the salon has remained exceptional. My experience here was great. I've had maybe one other great waxing experience but unfortunately, that place no longer offers waxing outside of facial hair so I had to find another place. I've tried one other place and almost vowed to stick to Veet after that. I went out on a limb and came to Express Waxing and I'm glad I did.
