Terrible, terrible customer service! Have to wait on hold for 30 minutes to cancel my account, and they said it will take 12-14 days to cancel and 6-8 weeks to get a refund of my $30!!! Also, they are not open during the hours they say they are, and you cannot cancel without talking to someone, so I had to call 6 times before I even got placed on hold to cancel. I would give 0 stars if I could. I drove through Denver back in August of 2022. I got my first toll bill a few months later. I paid it and I thought everything was good. A month later I got a second bill with a late charge. They called and said my toll bill got split into two bills. Why the second one had a late fee, I don't know. I asked for a proper bill with the correct itemization. About a month later, I got a bill in the mail with late fees tacked on again. I called again to get them removed and asked for a correct itemized bill. A month later, March 2023, I got a bill in the mail with a late fee again. The same day I also got a bill from their debt collector. I called again and was able to pay over the phone. It's just a scam company trying to nickel and dime people for money. read more

Their website is crap. That's my only complaint. I'm a web developer so it infuriates me even more that they can't hire decent developers for the price I pay monthly. It takes forever to switch pages and when I finally get to the page to edit my vehicle (traded up, transferred plates), I cannot edit the make and model for same license plate number. I cannot add a second vehicle with that same plate number. I cannot remove the first and only vehicle on the account. Apparently it's a sin to not have a vehicle on the account for 5 seconds. What a moron of a developer. How did this website pass QA? easy: there was no QA done. Shit-show of a website. It's embarrassing to see this in 2017. They sent charges out of no-were, you don't have to drive the highway-once they have your information- they will send out the ticket based on your driving history, I used to work at the place that needed 470 tolls, now I don't drive at all- because I work from home, and I got the Toll fees. Avoid any of the express tolls! Drive around! They don't send any statements to you for payment. They will send them to a law firm for collections with late fees and collection fees attached to collect the money due. They claim they sent statements but were returned as unknown person. I have lived in the same location for years and have never had an issue receiving mail. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. They wouldn't waive all late fees for my sister who was in the hospital when they billed her. She got a heart transplant and was out of state and they billed her $500 of late fees. When we tried to say we can provide doctors notes and such they said it wouldn't help. I have an express toll account and use the toll road occasionally when traveling, I don't live in Colorado so they don't make much of me. This month I get 17.70 in tolls for the same plaza all on days I can prove my vehicle was in WY and NE. I call to talk about the charges aaand am told since it scans the sticker the are no pictures to show what vehicle it was. They consider the charges are valid and they don't allow them to be disputed. Long story short I got the account for the discount and ended up paying more. If you have to use the road stick to license plate charges, once you are in their system they can charge whatever they want and you are on the hook. Quick edit, it takes 2 weeks for them to close an account so you will get another 2 weeks of charges after you cancel. read more

Using the toll roads have definitely made life a bit easier, but having to argue late fees, when payment was on time, charges that were on my account for no reason, statements that show up on Friday and you have seven days to pay, but can't pay over the weekend, etc..... The customer service of this place is atrocious, my car was totaled in the end of 2020, we started receiving bills for 2021, I called them to tell them we did t have the car anymore, literally it went into the shop and never came out, they told me that the transponder was active and there was nothing they could do, even after talking to a supervisor I was told there was nothing they could, I was told they could turn the transponder off but that was it. Expresstoll is a scam. Their site is impossible to access if you don't have an account number available, and the account number is not presented on the bill. In lieu of using their fraudulent website, I called their billing phone number. It said I owed $10.35, like my mailed invoice said. I input a new credit card, but the system threw me over to an operator instead. She proceeded to tell me I owe over $20. I asked how that can be when I have two other sources, including the Expresstoll automated message, that said I owe half that much. She told me I could wait and pay the late charges, or pay the $20 now. I replied that I couldn't trust her when two other pieces of data disagreed. I was told I could wait for a new bill with the $20 amount, and I replied that if that was the case I wanted any late fees waived. She refused. I told her what she and Expresstoll can do with themselves. I'll wait for Expresstoll's attorneys to bill me. At least I know what I'll owe those shysters. Never use this scam. You'll owe yourself another tank of gas every time after you deal with their billing services. As a follow up, I tried calling a second time. Since I was upset, the snotty operator said she didn't want to deal with me and put me on hold for about 10 minutes. I finally hung up and tried again. The third operator was quick to waive any late fees, without my even suggesting it. She was very nice and took care of me right away. This speaks to terrible training and quality with their billing representatives. Obviously some are lazy or just don't want to help customers. That doesn't inspire my confidence anymore, but I'm relieved to know they have at least one competent person in the organization. read more

Toll roads are pretty much an anomaly out here in Colorado. You don't really see them at all except here on 470. If you go to Kansas there is one, an anomaly of itself as you head to KC but not unmanned in their service. Next up if you go south would probably be Dallas, North is nothing doing and west you won't see anything till the coast. An anomaly indeed. Sure the traffic can be bad if you take the other interstate options through Denver to get to the airport but overall Denver is a small enough city you can get where you need to go in a reasonable amount of time by just taking the free interstates and with a little bit of planning. My toll seems cheap for six bucks...I guess. Probably the one and only time I will be going on this road. They said they needed a part of 470 to be a toll road to pay for it but now they probably have and are just raking in extra dough. Even though small in expense I don't need an extra one when going to the airport. In the future I will be avoiding the anomaly. read more

Fees are crazy high !!!!!!!!!! For an approx 25 mile trip pulling a 2 axle trailer, it was $40.80. As a comparison on a trip I have taken several times. In Oklahoma and covering almost 100 miles the toll is less than $13.00. I think they are smoking way too much or their own weed. I'll never take their toll road again, EVER !!! If a score of ZERO was avail I would have picked it. They deserve to go out of business from these high taxes disguised as tolls. I agree with the above reviewer! Terrible customer service! I received a bill from this company and it had late fees on it when it was the first bill I had received. I called the company and spoke to several of their representatives and they claimed that they had sent 4 previous bills even though they had never arrived at my house. I called my post office and they said that if the company did not have a tracking number for the letter there was no was to prove that the letter was ever delivered. I called Express Toll back and they were completely unreasonable and very rude! They refused to waive the late fee even though I had never received a bill prior. DO NOT DRIVE ON THIS ROAD, THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER!!!! It's not worth the hassle of dealing with their bureaucratic nonsense! read more

A toll road is just that. It cost money which all we wish it didn't, but once you get passed it.... It's the nicest, clearest road. When it snows, it's the ONLY way to go. I was shocked when, from out of nowhere, I received a Civil Penalty Notice in a Pink envelope for close to $700. When I called Express Toll to advise the agent that this has to be a mistake, I was transferred to the "team" that could help me. I spoke Jennifer, she advise me that although they sent many statements to my old address, it was my fault that I did not receive them. I told her that I have been getting toll statements at my updated address since October of last year, and that all of the sudden, it's strange I received this notice at my updated address. It seemed like she was only interested in me paying the bill and not the fact that I never received any of the statements in question. So I asked to speak to a manager. Jennifer said she would transfer me but only disconnected the call. I am very disappointed in the way this agent handled the call. I called back once again only to be told Jennifer updated him on what to say. They only removed $150 for all the fees and penalties assessed for something I never received!!! What a Scam!!! Just driving thru on our way to Montana. We're familiar with toll roads, but not THIS toll road. We never saw a sign showing toll amounts and did not expect to get a bill for $21.30 to drive on this road for 26 minutes 14 seconds (going to and coming back from Montana). Holy smokes! The fees are criminal. It ticked me off so bad, I'll avoid this road and Denver on our annual trips out west. There are plenty of other ways to get where we like to vacation. I always do the license plate toll since I don't travel the toll roads that often. Every time I get the bill they send late just to charge me a late charge. Also the tolls are way to much money now days. I remember it was only $1.25 for the main tolls and .50 cents for the exists. This is a very dishonest agency that appears to be tied to local government. I had set up an account with payment information on file. When I called, they verified that they had all of my vehicle's in the system. I was then transferred to a supervisor named Steven. Steven informed me that I had not registered one of my vehicles and that I owed hundreds of dollars in fees. Oddly, not only did the first agent verify that the vehicle was on my account, but the way I discovered the issue was while trying to register a different vehicle at the DMV that had had a hold put on it. Steven then changed his story for a second time by stating that the other vehicle was not on my account despite stating moments before that it was. Unfortunately, I realize that this review will do nothing as we are dealing with an organization with government ties who is simply stealing from people. While the initial agents are very polite, Steven, the supervisor presented himself as a slimy crook who knows that there is nothing anyone can do about it. read more

After several previous anxiety raising calls and conversations about how I couldn't be helped in any way, I was dreading another call so I could make my payment on 9/16/2020.. I was planning on paying my balance and never taking another toll road again due to the previous miscommunication with previous associates. But when I called today, I was humbly greeted by one of the associates, Cecelia, she was very polite and more then enthusiastic to take the time to look over all three of my vehicles. She also walked me through my Account and explained everything that I didn't understand tremendously easing my anxiety. After previously being told by other associate, that I couldn't be helped in anyway just to make a payment plan. Cecelia waved all the fees she could, she help me understand my account, and also got me to add $300 to my account balance after I fully paid off what I owed and she did it in a timely manner so I could get back to work. All in All, Cecilia rocks and the Express Toll should be very proud to have an employee that has so much dedication to not only her job, but also to their customers as well, thank you Cecilia!! read more

I-70 Mountain Express Lane is a ripoff! I used it to drive around a slow moving truck (30 in a 55) and was charged $8.33. Lesson learned! Avoid at all costs! This is not a good solution to fix the congestion in the mountains and should be boycotted. read more
