After receiving an email response from Regina I decided to update my review to include details I left off the original and include a photo of the poor cut with uneven lengths. My cut was rushed to the point that I had to wash my hair as soon as I got home as she had left shampoo and conditioner in my hair which could be seen and felt and was causing my scalp to itch. Additionally, Regina was distracted throughout the cut organizing a weekend photo shoot and had the styling chair turned towards the reception desk computer so that she could look at web pages and Facebook while cutting my hair, possibly why my hair is several inches shorter than we agreed upon in the rushed consultation and has uneven lengths. Original review: After reading rave reviews on yelp went here with very long hair for a new style from Kathi. I didn't end up seeing Kathi as she went home sick. I was asked to come in early and was rushed through the consultation (didn't want to look at any of the pics I brought with me of the style of the long angled bob I wanted) as a result instead of the long angled bob I ended up with a medium length perfectly straight cut (It cannot be called a bob) that I could of gotten at Supercuts for $15. I know I have difficult hair as it is fine and super-straight, but if a hairdresser isn't comfortable cutting it they should say so at the outset not complain about how my hair must be relaxed or keratin straightened - which it isn't. I'm now faced with months of growing my hair in order to get it cut in the style I wanted in the first place. read more

I was encouraged by the great reviews everyone had about this salon, but I have unfortunately had the worst luck with making appointments with them! I purchased a living social deal for lashes and here's my experience: Day one: Called for an appointment. No one answers, the message says to hang up and email Regina or Kathi. I emailed Regina for an appointment. 2 or 3 days later: No response. I called again, no answer. I get the same message to email. I email Regina and Kathi. 2 more days later: No responses in my inbox or junk. Hm, ok, its the start of bridal season and I'm just trying to use my coupon, maybe they are busy. I called and someone answered! Christine made an appointment for later in the week with Regina. Day of appointment: Christine calls 3 hours before the appointment and cancels for Regina. When would I like to rebook? Well unfortunately I work, so evenings or weekends are best. We make an appointment for 14 days later after work. Day of rebooked appointment: I'm a little worried because I didn't get a confirmation email like I did for the first appointment, so I call to make sure the appointment is still on. No answer. I call 2-3 more times through out the day. No answer, same message that says to email Regina or Kathi. I get to the appointment, and my worries are confirmed, the salon is shuttered with no one working. The door is locked. Sigh! I guess it wasn't meant to be. I found out about Faking It Salon through a friend who had gorgeous red extensions done there. She had posted pictures on facebook and here hair was simply stunning. I had to check it out for myself. I strolled into the salon yesterday (Saturday). Regina, the owner, immediately said hi and asked if she could help me. I expressed my interest in getting extensions myself. She patiently explained everything I needed to know about extensions and answered all my questions. We had a nice discussion about my hair and what I had done to it in the past and what my daily hair care habits were. She proceeded to ask when my last hair cut was. I told her sometime last fall. To make a long story short, I wound up in the middle chair getting a hair cut and color. The dye was specifically made for me, with extra blue! Regina showed me a few tricks for getting my bangs to do what they are supposed to do. I got a great new hair cut as well as the most PERFECT bang trim I have ever had. I am quite particular about my bangs. I usually cut them myself as most stylists do not get them quite right. Regina was just as particular as I am and wound up pointing out where she thought they needed touching up before I did. Regina is friendly, talented and very sweet. I got a hair color that I felt was too dark for my natural dark brown hair. Hair cut was pretty much a trim although I asked for their opinion on what to get done. I expected the stylist to consult with me and feel my hair, ask what my hair was like and what I wanted to achieve. Then I expected them to advise me what would look good on me. And when I walked in there wasn't much room for me to sit anywhere bc someone was sitting there and had her bags up too. I was disappointed and let the owner know. I can't say enough good things about this salon. Regina is super nice and funny and easy to talk to so your experience will be lovely. I only briefly met Kathi but she seemed fantastic and welcoming as well. Most importantly, these ladies know what they're talking about and have the skills needed to give you some killer hair! Regina is so well informed and made me feel so comfortable making the decision to try hair extensions. I've had them for 5 days now and I can't get over how awesome they are. The process was easy and quick. People had told me hair extensions were a nightmare to get in because you had to spend hours and hours in the chair but not with Regina at the helm. She whipped these bad boys into my hair in two hours and they're perfectly placed, secure, and comfortable. I've put my hair up in a pony tail, I've braided it, and I've pulled my bangs back in a little puff and the bonds haven't shown at all. After 5 days straight of awesome hair I'm definitely hooked. Regina is truly an artist and takes a tremendous amount of pride in her work. She was at my hotel room on my wedding day exactly at the time she said she was going to be. I went to Faking It after having discovered that bleaching your hair blonde at home is never a good idea (duh!) I found her salon on yelp and got the yelp deal(Can't remember the deal but I think it was 15% off or something like that) She was very nice on the phone and said she would take me the moment she opened. She fixed my hair and gave me some tips on how to keep my hair healthy. She turned my yellow looking hair into a more natural sunny blonde. After trying a number of salons on Newbury Street and elsewhere, I've been "going steady" with Kathi for over two years and she is fantastic. She's given me several different permutations and shades of my long blonde hair, and recently, when I decided to do something totally different and asked for a red/brown ombre, she totally nailed that too! Regina is the best - so glad she opened Faking It! Got lash extensions here and I was relaxed and comfortable throught. It was about 75 min for a full set and they came out absolutely gorgeous! We were talking and getting along so well I want to hang out with her! Because of that, I forgot to give her my living social (or Groupon?). And ran back in to give it to her. Then she texted me about 15 min later that he wasn't sure if she'd put a final finish adhesive over them. I was sure she did but couldn't really remember! I don't check my phone until 8 pm, which is when she was leaving for home. I told her not to worry about it, but she did; she said she'd meet me wherever I was ( which was at a bar watching the Bruins! In West Roxbury). Regina texted that she as on her way nd would in in and give a quick swipe over each eye; nobody goes out of their way like that to make sure they've done the best job possible, Regina is the exception and exceptional!
