December 30, 2024 | received this injury due to this protruding foot-long piece of metal Sticking from the wall around a blind corner. I asked for a Band-Aid in the front office, and was scoffed at. "We don't give customers bandaids. Do you think we're a Pharmacy?" I had to go to the emergency room, Had to get a tetanus shot, Had to go on antibiotics, missed two weeks of work, and now six weeks later have a lifelong scar. Extra Space storage? Their response has been "Lady go f$&k off." Even their employees (Look online) Say the worst part about their job is how aggressive they are towards customers. And there's a class Action suit against them for their bait and switch tactics. Not "good" Mormons who run this Utah corp! I need a good personal injury / property negligenc Lawyer. My experience with extra space storage has been an extreme pleasure. The facility itself is clean runs on Bluetooth or manual door code. The manager Mark has been an amazing help on more than one occasion helping me gain access and also find a rate accessible to my needs. Began storing my belongings at this facility on East El Segundo Boulevard in the city of El Segundo (CA) approximately 7 years ago. At that time, the storage facility manager, Lisa and Associate, Mark, were a dynamic, professional customer service-oriented duo. No longer true. Within the past 18 to 20 months, Lisa has moved on after many years with the company, however, Mark has remained seemingly happily employed there. Unfortunately there's now a very cold-hearted, robotic, personality-deficient storage administrator manager or whatever he's called, in that position and he adds an element of detachment to all customer service provided at that location. He's not one to help you find solutions; he only quotes company policy as he has learned it. Unfortunate, because he developed a very difficult situation for me that caused my earthly belongings to be auctioned off this past September 2024. At that time as well as earlier last year, I was a post-hospital patient in a recuperative care facility located in the Inland Empire - - more than 70 miles away from the El Segundo storage location. At that time, my bank Visa debit card was deactivated by my bank due to suspicion of fraudulent use. When I leaned this from my bank, I phoned the El Segundo office to see about arranging an electronic checking account payment but I was sharply told by Omar that the Company does not accept payments directly from customers' checking accounts and that my only other option would be to come into the office and pay by cash. I was in no position to physically accomplish that and due to a one-day due date delay. "Omar," the storage manager, would not even contact the regional or corporate office to assist with other possible options to get me out of arrears. Consequently, one day, the last day, prior to a new month's charges perpetuated my balance into an amount I could not pay in full and my possessions were auctioned. I was heartbroken. At least my photo albums and heirloom photos, as well as documents and other paperwork were not included in the sale per my request (to Mark). This incident happened during September and October of 2024. It haunts me even to this day. Think twice before you rent here with Omar at the helm. After using this storage company at different times and locations over the past 15-plus years (the first and fourth times being in Culver City, CA), I'm done. read more

Before the access hours change, I would be happy to give this place 5 stars. But sorry, Mark. 1 star it is. I've had a storage room here for several years. Everything has been good, even managing all the frequent rate increases. However, they recently changed their access hours which makes it near impossible for people with full time jobs during the week to get any storage-related things done on the weekend. Access hours stop at 7pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. How is anybody supposed to move on the weekends with these kind of hours?! It used to be 10pm. Why such a dramatic shift??!!! You guys make money hand over fist. Get a security guard for the extra 3-7 hours if you don't want to keep any staff on hand. Why are you in the storage locker business if you can't properly accommodate the main times when people move stuff!? Reduce your weekday hours before you mess with the weekend hours. Please fix the hours and I'll be happy to change my rating. read more

Proceed with caution before trusting your items here with these people. They auctioned my items due to administrative error. They have refused to communicate any information with me since then. Needless to say, their reviews have tanked over the past couple of months, and I'm not surprised. Some additional observations, particularly if you're a BIPOC customer. * Petty, biased, out-of-touch management * The woman at the front desk (Lisa, I'm guessing?) denied my mover storage access to my unit, while I was present with him on Facetime. She cited that I'd need to add him to the approved visitors on my account. I asked her to do it on the spot and she said I'd need to visit in person. (Really? In LA...during a pandemic?) This was the beginning of my feeling they racially profiled customers. * Micromanaging and harassing customers * Following the day I signed up, "Mark from Extra Space Storage" pestered me on the phone daily to put a lock on my unit before I'd moved anything in. I politely explained to the gentleman that I was in the middle of a family crisis and would do my best to get in as soon as I could. He kept forcing the issue and made me commit to a date later in the week where I would visit to put the empty lock on my unit. The follow-up calls continued. (Prior to this, they kept calling to make sure I had information that had already sent me by email that was also available online). Again, why so suspicious of me? Do you think I'm running an unsavory operation out of my empty storage unit or something? read more

We've had a small storage unit at this facility for a couple of years. We just closed out it space. Plenty of pros! First, convenient location. We fly into LAX and zip here to pick up the stuff we need for work. Perfect for that. Great lady at the front desk. She always seems a little overworked but she's friendly and efficient. Cons. -Limited parking. We've always found a space though! -Hilly parking. We have our stuff on a cart and the parking lot is a bit sloped so the cart can be tricky to keep from rolling off down the parking lot. -Elevator entrance. While this does make the place seem a little more secure, can't help but feel like I'm entering a horror movie every time I go to my unit. Me and my staff call it Murder Storage. We were on level one were there is a big parking lot for car storage that's always a little dark and a bit creepy. If you prefer being able to drive up to your storage unit this isn't the place for you. Again it worked fine for us. And we were never murdered. read more

I had a storage locker at this facility for 7-1/2 years. The level of service here was always excellent, and I particularly enjoyed and appreciated all of the efforts made by assistant manager Mark. He has excellent communication skills and provides very good customer service. My personal business required me to move my things out and off to another city, but I will always look back fondly on these last few years when I was storing my things at this well-run facility in El Segundo. read more

I agree with the other two recent negative reviews- they seem to be the only honest reviews. I'm disappointed & dissatisfied at this establishment. But coming from Yucaipa Secure Storage (on Outer Hwy 10 in Redlands actually) at least here at this business they have a Trash dumpster they allow the customers to use during business hours whereas the other one started locking up because they're too chicken shit to let the customers use. Other than that, you had the convenience of going in whenever you needed to without any blockages. Here you're at the mercy of inconsiderate people that hog up the space blocking the only entrance/one elevator by parking their humongous UHaul(s) in front of it. Using the elevator and piling up their stuff vs using the appropriate carts your suppose to use or like the rest of the others, wait for one to free up. On top of that, some people's manners and attitude - smh. Its a Storage Unit - did those with self entitlement forget that if they are there, they're obviously like the rest of us, don't own a mansion huge enough to hold all your stuff and/or your paying to store your crap like the rest of us, so your no better than the rest of us. I encountered a nice young woman who was also, like me a minority, who stated how ridiculous the set up is and more so how sad some of the peoples actions and rude behavior. She was one of the few I've seen here that was polite. I came here was at the suggestion of another Woman's Club member who highly recommended it. She also stated it was different back then (sweet older lady) I can imagine it probably was, but these days reality is much more people, the demand has skyrocketed! So I get that. Which is what puzzles me that this location doesn't remodel appropriately with more than one entrance to meet the demand, they charge so much anyways? The other thing is what someone (the other negative but honest review) stated about the fees and policy-they tell you one thing one day and the next is a completely different story, especially the stupidity of pricing- whatever you see on the internet is not true when you talk to them in person or what the contract entails. They told us we'd pay more for a smaller space than what we have now? How's that??! So wishy washy. And when we show some sort of disbelief, the response is always "well you can save if you just downsize your stuff and get rid of it and no more storage fees" Wow, if that's not great sellers attitude, than I don't know what is. Unbelievable LOL. Anyhow, I've talked to both reviewers and inquired where they now store their items and will be out soon enough. Fantastic Staff and facility. Highly Recommend the El Segundo Location.

We have had multiple units at this storage facility over the past few years. While the people who run the facility are nice enough and the premises quite clean, I cannot recommend it for several reasons. (1) No matter what you are quoted on the internet, the price is only guaranteed for a limited time and then they continually raise the fees every few months. When we first got our 10x15 unit in June 2016, it was $223/mo. 5 months later (November 2016), it had been raised to $306/mo. By the time we moved out in November 2018, it was $387. (2) They charged me for an additional month even though I followed the protocol for move-out and verified by phone I would not be charged. I gave more than 2 weeks notice that we would be vacating our unit and the manager told me that we were paid through the November 19 so to just be out by then. I called the previous week and noticed the voice system said I had a "payment due" of $387. I spoke to the onsite manager and was told that there was, in fact, a move-out notice on my unit and that as long as we were out by 11/19, we would not be charged. We vacated the unit on Saturday, November 17. The onsite manager was cleaning the bathroom as we were leaving and we said we wanted to make sure she was aware that we had vacated and removed our lock. She asked for our unit # and we provided it. Then, LO & BEHOLD, today, November 21, I was charged $387 by the storage facility! When I called to complain (quite upset), while the manager was very apologetic (clearly realizing it was THEIR error), her only recourse was to refund me (why not reverse the transaction???) and that it would post to my checking account in 3 - 5 business days. As it's Thanksgiving, I guess it won't be until nearly the end of the month that I get nearly $400 back into my checking account. read more

I've been trying to rent a unit from this facility for a week. I have made 3 visits in that time and was only able to get into the office and speak to a manager on one occasion. Today I was greeted by a sign that stated "the manager will be back at 2:00pm" (mind you the manager called me yesterday and told me to come down anytime before 5:30pm today) so I figured I'd wait around and in the process came across these giant 1 1/2" cockroaches!! The worst storage! I paid over $200.00 per month; for that price, it was way too difficult to get one of the too few parking spaces available and then if you can, you have to move your filled cart (if you can locate one) up and down the steep slope, back and forth to your vehicle. Steer clear of this storage facility...way too cumbersome! One elevator and one entrance, so if a couple of other customers are present, a quick storage run can turn into an hour-long affair; if a moving truck shows up...forget about it!! Find another storage facility somewhere...anywhere, but this asylum!!! read more

They apologized for the mistake made by the company, they told me to call again to talk to the manager , she tell me not to lower my price and he makes me compare with other clients that have been longer than me. Our dear friends, Skippy and Drew (both former employees at Extra Space Storage) referred us to Lisa as the El Segundo location is not far from us. Lisa took us on a tour and showed us the unit which is well located and for a great price. Mark took care of the final touches when we actually finalized the unit. The facility is clean and both Lisa and Mark were helpful and friendly. They were very accommodating to us as we had A LOT to move and needed a couple of days to get it done. I recently decided to rent a storage unit here as I prepare to move into another place for the meantime. I easily went online to reserve a unit 3 weeks before I actually was aware that i needed one and let me tell you i am glad that I did. At first i was hesitant that I even really needed one but then a few days later i received a friendly and pleasant service call and reminder for the great staff there Lisa & Mark. They were extremely pleasant , persistent and assisted me with flexible move in dates. When I finally arrived 3 weeks later, they were happy to see and it was like we hadnt even missed a beat. We laughed and chatted and they made the storage renting process, lock process and moving in process as simple and as easy as possible. I was in and out with in 20 minutes and found the storage unit to be exactly what I needed. My final advice. Choose this place for your storage needs and you wont be disappointed with Lisa or Marks service or the pricing :) read more

It's the safest & most secure storage facility in the area however the drive-in gate is inoperable or inaccessible more often than it is functioning and available for use. Being able to drive-in to offload into my storage unit was the main feature prompting me to rent a unit at this location and it's not something I'm frequently even able to utilize. read more
