1. The service! Yes it is perfectly wonderful considering they don't have a large crew. Lisa is wonderful! I swear my ex has become her friend and she always watches out for him. 2. Moving out of my storage unit felt less like a task and more like an emotional documentary about poor decisions. I stood surrounded by boxes filled with memories, regrets, and items I clearly bought while unsupervised. At some point I was genuinely on the verge of tears, staring into a bin like it might answer life's bigger questions. Jamiea at the front desk remained calm, kind, and reassuring while I unraveled in slow motion. She guided me through the move out process with patience and warmth, making me feel like this level of emotional instability was completely normal and not at all concerning. By the time I left I was lighter both physically and spiritually, having said goodbye to my belongings and a questionable chapter of my life. I've been with them for a while and the people here have always been very nice and helpful. This includes my last time when I went and called the office. The person was in a meeting and someone from their Orinda? location answered the phone and helped me out. Also, the people who work in these locations, even when they are subbing for the regular employees are nice as pie and that feels good. They got rid of the payment machine outside which is fine. And they updated the walls a couple of times. My last visit there was many moons ago and even though the woman in the office was substituting. She actually walked me to my unit which was fantastic. I hadn't been there in a while. We went through the "wrong" door, it was labeled on her map but when I used the correct one, I understood why. The lights go out quickly, so by going through the further door, I get to turn the lights on. If I go through the closer door, every 15 minutes or so, I have to run to the other side to get the lights back on. Some changes... First - the lights come on automatically. No need to set a timer. Second - the freight elevator is inside and doesn't need someone driving a forklift to help it up or down. Third - the trucks are in the freight elevator. They aren't around the property like they used to be. Fourth - to exit, you no longer need to put in the code. You do have to drive close to the gate to get it to open. Very close. I mean very, very close. But, all in all, my experience has been good. read more

I have never been treated so poorly as I was by this place. The "Manager" lady Lisa is so very rude, boorish and disrespectful. I am a professional mover, I work for Bekins Van Lines and I move people all over the country, today I had the misfortune to deliver a customer into this mini storage. Lisa was very rude to us before my customer arrived. She refused to let us park on the property while we waited for my customer and threatened to have one of the guys I hire to help me unload car towed. She refused to let me use the restroom. She said it wasn't cleaned but I know she was just being petty because she was mad that he parked in a parking space that is for her customers. She was just overall ugly to everyone except when MY customer got there she immediately switched to talking so sweetly to them, but people can see ugliness that comes from the inside. She needs to eat more sugar, maybe she will be a little nicer to people who aren't directly renting from her. read more

I called the facility before bidding on a unit online. The person (Lisa) gave me information about unit I was bidding on. She stated the owner of the unit was out of state and can not come back to get there items.. I clearly asked if anybody has been through the unit whatsoever since contents were put in the unit she clearly stated nobody has ever been in the unit at all. After speaking with her I was comfortable placing a bid after learning a little bit more about the unit I eventually won the unit went there to pick up unit. I payed for it went to the unit started pulling All the trash out to get a dump run together as I got to the back of the unit every single box in the back of unit corners were torn open tape undone sliced through as if somebody was looking in each box to see what was inside after that got out of the unit. Went back to office to talk to Lisa in immediately was defensive. Then her story changed to" oh they came back a month ago" trying to blame on the previous owner for going in the unit, a owner that puts their items in a unit would not rip up side of box on every single box to see what they stored. I have been buying storage units for a very long time have not ran into this issue but have heard about it and very very disappointed that this goes on in the facility , and Lets this go on. After I was yelled at numerous times by Lisa I decided to just leave. Next day I called back to see if she had a resolution her story again changed telling me that it was a non lean unit and that somebody has gone through the unit. So it's been three different stories. And it seems like she's trying to cover something up I wish somebody would really look into this This is unacceptable. Wish owner knew about this I truly don't believe the owner would let this go on and would think this is acceptable. Also after reading different Yelp reviews same thing was mentioned about boxes and corners being torn from other paying customers units. Seems like this goes on regularly . REPEAT CUSTOMERS OVERCHARGED ON PRICING I have been a dedicated Extra Space Storage customer at this facility for over four years. Recently I downsized my unit from a 5 x 10 to a 5 x 5. Staff seemed extremely helpful to help transfer my old policy to the new one, making me think they were helping save me money. However, once I looked at pricing online, I realized I was being OVER-CHARGED $20/month on my new unit. When I asked about the difference in pricing, I was told the online price doesn't apply to repeat customers and is only for new customers. Seriously?! I have never known an institution to penalize their dedicated customer base rather than reward them. Nice business model - screw your repeat customers and give better pricing to non-customers. read more

If you rent online and the "web rate" seems too good to be true, it is. After only 4 months, they increased my monthly rate by nearly 25% to match the "in-person rate". The facility and the unit, itself, were fine. read more

Moved out with 14 days left before the next months bill was due. Person named Lisa told me she would pro-rate my bill. When I called about it. She hemmed and hawed and made a bunch of BS excuses saying it wasn't going to happen. This is the new American business model. I recently rented a space here. I was given an outdoor unit. The unit leaks water as my stuff had visible water on it. Took photos of the water on my stuff and moved out of the unit. Sent manager Lesea an email with pictures. A week later she calls back to say there is no water in the space and the previous renters had no problems. Even with photos she didn't believe me. Then she says I get no option to move to another unit and no refund. She sent me an email terminating my rental agreement. No options discussed. Never rent here. read more

I have a large storage unit here, I've had it 10 plus years, and I discovered the hard way that the internal design of the buildings ( between one lower unit and the next) is not hardened for criminal-thinking people wanting to rummage their next door neighbor's unit. I won't give away the method that allows for people to move between units once inside, But I find this utterly poor design and I am really thinking deeply about leaving as a client. I suppose I will ask the owners to see if they will do the work needed to secure the unit. I'll be back to add to this review to let you know what their answer is. It's interesting to see another review( Jason K) here talking about security issues too. This business is a good place to store office records but not a good place to store household goods of any value. Certainly call the police to check on burglary records before renting here. I bet all storage places have security issues. And I suppose if you have a unit for a long time, you're bound to have some loss, but still, this feels pretty rotten that my neighbors in the storage building steal from others. I hope these yelp reviews give the business owner a heads-up on what their clients are experiencing. I will take my complaint to the office staff as well on Monday. read more

Needed a small storage for some extra stuff- AKA- "wife misc. stuff". The staff was very helpful in getting me started, welcomed my Internet special price with no prob and was helpful in getting me going. In and out in 30 minutes. The place is always clean and peaceful and stays open till 10PM-competition down the way closes at 5:30 when staff leaves :( Would recommend without a doubt. Cons: Elevator under construction... for one part of property... but should be working soon. Sometimes the entry can be a little tricky if some one is trying to leave as you enter... but it normally works itself out. read more

The place is clean, access is easy, and office people very professional. No complaints so far. Just a couple things that would make this storage better: More affordable prices, I understand that nothing is cheap in the bay area anymore, but it's getting really expensive. Access 24/7?, why not?. Considering the current prices, it would be awesome to give customers some perks. read more
