I had a 4 hour notice that staging for my home sale was happening the next morning, I went into panic mode as my house was full of my furniture and I was in LA. I jumped online, reserved a unit, and was ready to go in 15 minutes! Upon my arrival to sign contracts and unit assignment I worked with Lucia, very helpful and pleasant. I am a college student looking for a place to store my stuff while I am moving out of my apartment into a new one. I was looking on the internet to get the cheapest price. I stumbled upon this place. Right away I received a phone call and was able to go in and look at the unit. Tina was very friendly and showed us all the units we wanted to look at. Lucy the manager told us about the first month free deal. I got a whole 10 by 10 unit for only the service fee of $33. They were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to store their stuff. read more

I will throw my shit out before I rent from these people ever again. You go in and they ask you to write a review before you even rent the unit. Once you rent the unit, they never answer the phone or return your calls. They NEVER told me that they raise the rent ever 6 months or some bull. Not sure if this is any better or worse than any other facility - perhaps they're all the same. All I know is in 3 years time my storage rent has gone from $56 to $80 per month for a 5 x 6 room on the second floor. I was in Europe for most of the time and could not access my account online nor obtain a statement, despite repeated email requests. I wasn't told about rent increases until well after the fact and then incurred late fees because of the late notice on the increased rent. At one point I was notified by email to move all my belongings away from the door to ensure there was no damage, as they planned to paint the facility. Really?? I'm in Europe, people! And even if I wasn't, that was an absurd request. The facility is poorly managed in my opinion, but the staff is likely under-paid and working with less than ideal procedures and systems. I tried contacting the corporate office by regular mail when I couldn't obtain their telephone number or email from the local facility and got no response at all. This company doesn't care about anything except raking in the money. I am back in the USA and will be moving my things out next week. After reading all the posts about theft I now realize I may go there and everything may have already been moved out! Shame on Extra Space. read more

I rent from their Orange location and in less than a year my rent has gone up without notice, although when I called the manager I've been told that there is a note in my file with "a date the post card was sent out"? Once maybe, but twice? I'm not buying it! And what's with rental fees going up twice in less than a year??? It's not like I'm using gas, water or eletricity here? I also notice a lot of notices on storage units last time I was there, I'm thinking people who aren't paying thier rent? Perhaps becasue it's being raised at an alarming rate! Needless to say, I'm now looking for an other location, one who is honest and forthright. Bad Business pratice!! read more

We used this storage facility to store items for my dad as he downsized to a smaller home. After a couple of years and the price continuing to creep up, he decided to close his unit. Our family helped him move out of the unit in a timely fashion so that he was not charged for the additional month. He was completely moved out by the beginning of the month but Extra Space charged his credit card on the 12th of the month anyways for the upcoming month. The error was pointed out to the employees of the facility.....not only by phone, but by two personal trips there. He was told, his credit card would be refunded immediately. Never happened and after two months of waiting we called and spoke with the manager again. To get her to finally return my call, I left a message saying I was interested in a unit....it was only then that calls were returned. She said "refunds are not my responsibility" but offered to submit that he be sent a check within two weeks. It has now been another month and the check has never arrived. It is not about the money at this point but about the lack of customer service and satisfaction. If you are interested in renting a unit they are very quick to be in touch with you. but if you are in need of some service or any type of refund due to you....you are almost completely ignored. I asked the manager for some additional information....including her district managers name and number as well as corporates number and was given a phone number in Florida instead of the corporate number in Utah. Not very impressed with the knowledge and lack of information. You can be sure as most of our friends are now downsizing their homes, we will be sure recommend they find another storage solution company as there is plenty of competition out there. I would also strongly recommend that although credit cards are accepted for ease of monthly payments that it should be a check sent in....as refunds seem non existent at this point. read more

I really like dealing with the assistant manager Laura O. She is very nice and takes the time to listen and explain things well. I always see her sweeping and making sure the property is nice. Whenever her manager Lucy K is on duty, though the place is not kept up at all. Also it is so much easier to ask Laura questions rather than waste time asking the manager and then getting snippy vague answers. This place is awesome. The staff is awesome. The hours are awesome. Sandra Victoria is awesome. I didn't know what awesome was until I found this awesome place. It is so awesome that I have two awesome storage units! Did I fail to mention how awesome Sanda Victoria is? She is so awesome that I may rent another storage unit. One time I was running late and I couldn't load all my crap in one of my units. She was so kind and helpful. She told me where everything was. The bathroom, dolly, office hours, etc that I was able to efficiently get everything done. She really knows the place well. A lot of times it was hard to process what she was saying because I would be so distracted by her friendliness and wonderful smile. She has the whitest teeth I have ever seen and unusually strong arms. Anyway, I am going off on a tangent. This place would not be anything without her. Lucy the manager is very awesome too. She has always been awesome and the reason why Sandra Victoria is so awesome is because Lucy trained her. A lot of people don't know that. You have to be really stupid to not know the excellent quality of this place. I can not stress that enough. Ever night when I drive by I get a warm feeling throughout. I sleep well knowing that my stuff is well protected! The price is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is better than anywhere else. I swear!!! The floors are so clean you can eat off of them. read more

We stored my Grandmothers belongings here for over 8 years. We paid on time and in full, even after multiple requests to have our invoices sent to our house after the company changed hands. When we attempted to vacate, after the death of our Grandmother, we were met with an incredibly rude woman, Sandra. She would not allow family into the unit even though they had an invoice, grandma's ID and death certificate. She was rude, callous and not compassionate. In an attempt to have our last month prorated she was very rude. I mean, incredibly rude. I cannot believe that this is how they treat loyal customers after 8 years. I would never, never do business with this company again. I've used other storage companies and have always been treated with respect and like a human. Also, this facility is next to a dump. So most of our stored items were infested with rats and the stench of dump decay. read more
