Customer service was excellent both over the phone and onsite -- friendly, helpful, and always happy to answer any question. They also offered a short extension when I needed a few extra days, which was very helpful (10 days each extension). Check-out was easy as well. I really liked the staff, so I even left them my favorite plant for the office. Thank you for providing such great service. I highly recommend them. HEED THIS WARNING Couple things: First off, the storage unit I rented was on the 5th floor of the building and their elevator was out of service for the initial few months I was there... Secondly, apparently they can change your rate to whatever they want at whatever time. Yes, you read that correct. I've only been renting for four months, this going into the fifth month. They nearly DOUBLED my rate from $95 to $181.. wtf? I called and they basically said "Oh yeah, we can change the rate whenever we want. We give you a notice though." (which they hadn't). How about an email heads up? They then "called their superior" and offered a new rate of $141 going forward (or until they decide to raise the rate again). Get real. Save yourself the hassle and the money, there's plenty of honest storage places around the area that don't bend their customers over and take advantage of them. read more

Garbage. Since day one this place has just gotten worse & worse. Any info that's posted immediately changes without notice, that goes for prices, hours, you name it. Immediately after I signed my lease I was "informed" that the price I was given will go up after the 3rd month. That information wasn't provided in my lease contract or was it provided verbally by the person "helping" me. I selected this location due to the ability to access it 24/7 (I even paid more for the Bluetooth lock), but now, almost 3 months later, I can only access it for 12 hours that I'm not available, & now 3 months later my app will automatically lock at a certain time. Last but definitely not least the people who "work" here are so incredibly helpful when signing the lease & prior to getting g paid, after they are paid it's a completely different story. Now my favorite part, there is a mentally I'll idiot that told me he was THE Manager even though he wasn't in their uniform, was roaming the parking lot 4 hours after the office closed, & has the shittiest attitude & speaks to people like he's bulletproof. First off the entire situation was absolutely ridiculous. What store "manager" will speak like that to anyone, & try & fail to talk down & belittle customers. 1. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. Without notice!!! 4. Only when I called them on this did they agree to a PARTIAL refund, and would not guarantee future increases would not happen. 5. They also changed my access code without notice, so when I went to my unit weeks later, I could not get in without another renter giving me their access code. Let me set the stage, on the morning of May 31st my retail space was looted like many others in the Hollywood area. The next morning we packed up what was left of the business and had to store it somewhere. The closest place was here at Extra Space Storage. Upon arrival the management assured me that their facility was well secured and that break-ins have never happened on the propriety. Management was very nice and competent. But that didn't prevent the horrific events to come. IN LESS THAN 72 HOURS OF MOVING INTO OUR UNITS THEY WERE BROKEN INTO! You're reading that correctly, in less than 3 days out shit got jacked. But quite frankly I should have seen it coming. The design of the units are made with one tiny flaw. From the floor to roughly about 6 feet it's made up of aluminum panels along with the door to the unit. Which seems to be industry standard. The achilles' heel is the 2 FOOT GAP from the top of the aluminum wall and the ceiling. This space is cover by... drum roll please... chicken wire... FUCKING CHICKEN WIRE! I'm 6 foot 2, I could effortlessly look into other peoples units. They also DON'T HAVE ANY CAMERAS INSIDE THEIR BUILDINGS! Only the outsides, and those aren't worth a damn. You can't even read license plates from the footage. Now I have to give credit where it's due. Management became aware of the break in with in 6 hours from when it occurred. They notified me immediately and offered to move us to a different unit. They were also very helpful and provided the footage they had. Let me make it clear that I don't hold the management accountable for what happened. I full put the blame on the owner of the business or possibly Extra Space Storage. I am standing here at the wide open gate waiting for the LAPD. My locker and at least two others were broken into and absolutely EVERYTHING of value was stolen. I had a bunch of empty boxes meant for moving and they were all used to haul away everything. They picked through every single box and grabbed everything of value, many thousands of dollars worth. I had the highest end lock purchased here, the round one that is supposed to be unbreakable. But they used a lock pick which was later discovered inside another tenant's unit who was also robbed. I have rented a storage unit at this location since 2015. I am so fed up with the scams and drama I could scream. Other reviewers have noted the steep rental fee hikes every 3 MONTHS. But what is going on there now is even worse. As of this month, the elevator in my storage building, which was always breaking down and poorly maintained, has gone belly-up. So access to my unit has been reduced dramatically...from the 6am - 10pm advertised to 9:30am - 6pm., minus the whole day of Sunday. These are very inconvenient hours for anyone working a normal full time job and have prevented me from being able to make use of my space. When I spoke to Celine, the on site manager, she got aggressive with me and told me in an angry loud voice that In the fine print of the contract I signed, it states that there is no guarantee of access hours to the spaces. End of discussion. WTF? How can this company get away with this? I hope the LA city attorney gets word of the deceptive business practices that are SOP with these people. This place is horrible. You pay me to have your lock broken into. What's worse, is it's an inside job... I just left for vacation. I'm in between moving so I moved all of my valuables and possessions into a storage unit while I was gone. I returned a few days ago, received a phone call that my locker has been broken into. I asked for photos of my locker, freaking out a little bit, rightfully so... All of my belongings had been in there. They sent me a photo and it almost look like none of my possessions had been taken... Then, today I had to visit during office hours so that they could open the lock that they had put on temporarily... And to my surprise, everything of mine of value has been stolen. Whereas in the photograph that they originally sent me one discovering my locker had been broken into, my things were there... It's very clear in the photo. I have now contacted corporate and involve the police and I hope to get the DISGUSTING, UGLY site manager Shanice Not only fired but put behind bars. Probably my LEAST favorite place to go in Hollywood, or anywhere in the World to be quite honest, but Extra Space Storage does the job. Our storage unit basically takes the place of the garage that we don't have. For the smallest indoor unit we started paying $100 less than two years ago, but slowly slowly your rate is increased, just enough that you don't complain, but now we noticed and are too lazy to take out all of our accumulated crap and move to get a better deal. This is why their plan is genius- Bait and switch at it's finest. But isn't that how it goes with just about every service, cable, Internet, telephone service, electric, gas, you name it. They lure you in with deals and drop the hammer so when immersed in your busy daily lives you are too busy to change it. But, besides the price, the employees are super friendly. We almost always get into a conversation with the one manager who is onsite all the time. He's really nice and very helpful. The storage unit as a whole is clean for what it is and well maintained. Our unit has remained safe and as a girl who often goes to this place alone, I never feel scared or intimidated by other customers even after hours, which is important to me. As far as location, convenience of hours and staff, coupled with our complete laziness of having to haul our junk out of here and save a few bucks, this is a good option for hoarders and those doomed with the small spaces many apartments and homes in Hollywood afford us. Note, you can even come here after hours up to a certain time, with your gate code, just check the specific times on their website. They also have wheelie carts to help carry your things up the elevator. The only issue is sometimes you have to wait for the freight elevator since there is only one, so I would avoid the weekends if possible because it's much busier. read more

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE IVE EVER VISITED!!! The people here do not work with you, they are absolutely ignorant and cannot work out a solution what so ever! I have had multiple bad encounters with their staff and services in PARTICULAR WITH THE MANAGER WHO HUNG UP ON ME because she simply didn't want to help us out. 1.) When we signed up we had a man help us out. He was very helpful at first** told us we had 24/7 access with our code (which turned out to be incorrect). He then took down my husbands information incorrectly without notifying us of anything. When we tried showing up months later we lost our gate code and asked the MANAGER to help us out and showed her the slight misspelling of his name. She refused to help what so ever. We showed her all of ID and told her to google his name and she refused to accept anything even though it was ONE LETTER OFF! AND THEIR MISTAKE!!! We went back home and after paying for storage without access we finally found a small slip of paper with the gate code. 2.) On our move out date we showed up to the lot, used our code and got in, I saw another gentlemen getting into the building but when I tried using my gate code on the elevator it didn't work. I was unable to access my floor or any of my belonging. I had bought around $500 worth of new furniture and stored it in the unit. I called all sorts of numbers, waited on site for an hour and finally left on the edge of tears. I finally received a call back from the manager long after I had left Los Angeles and started heading to my new home in Vegas. I told her we had to abandon all of our furniture and asked if they could get rid of it for us. I asked if they could dock the extra fee since we had lost all of our belongings due to the elevator not working. She refused to do anything for us. She told us we have to continue paying or be sent to collections with all our items auctioned off. I was beyond shocked and disappointed!! We are trying to maintain positive credit and have paid on time every single month of storage rental. I figured the least they could do is throw out my furniture which is already stomach turning enough. The MANAGER said they refuse to do so and our only option is to continuously pay (even though we will no longer be in LA) or go to collections. This is extremely ignorant and unprofessional!!! We have been given no options and I am still upset at the final verdict. The management at the place is the absolute worst of anywhere I have ever been.
