I rented a concrete pad for my little 14 foot teardrop trailer in October for 125 bucks a month. Fast forward to January and they decided to double it.. The sheer greed of this company and bad work practice is astonishing to me. I've seen my rent go up at other places 10% 20% but never near 100%.. I will pull my teardrop out of this spot and never look back for what horrible bad karma they have. Shame on their greed they can go to hell in a handbasket. Update they want to discuss what they can do to make me happier. Here's the deal most people here are seasonal so there's not an opportunity for them to move their stuff if they've left it and returned home; they are forced to pay the bill. extra space uses a company called storage treasures to auction unpaid units unfortunately i had some medical issues that made it difficult to work, got behind on my bills, and received notice my unit was going to be auctioned off. I contacted extra space because I was concerned that I had personal papers / legal documents in the unit my birth cert , marriage license , social security card, death certificate, letters from grandfather sent during WW11, great grandparents papers to get in this country, family history , etc... documents that don't need to be shared I read the "rules " and "guidelines" for each company especially the part about personal papers and legal documents. The guideline states that the winning bidder is to return all personal papers or legal documents that are in the unit to the facility So as the auction date was set I called extra space to make them aware I had personal papers in the unit and emailed storage treasures making them aware also i wish I could say extra space storage and storage treasures enforced their rules and guidelines but instead said they would not contact the winning bidder and unwilling to enforce their "rules and guidelines" pertaining to returning legal documents auctioned by storage treasures/extra space storage What a heartbreak to lose everything you own and then have to worry what someone might do with all the legal documents on you and your family Unsettling to know that someone somewhere has all my info read more

There aren't sufficient words to commend Austin, the general manager of the Palm Desert location. This young man goes above and beyond the customer service that one would expect. Not only is he cordial, professional and efficient. You can see how much pride he takes in his job and genuine desire to provide excellent customer service. The absolute worst. We had our unit less than a month before it was broken into robbed and vandalized. When we filed a police report the officer found that all the cameras are facing away, multiple units were broken into and vandalized, that it was likely that employees of Extra Space had given keys to the units to thieves that they rent their commercial parking space out - making the location completely insecure. The manager Jessica DOES NOT GIVE AN F. Take your belongings anywhere else, ours apparently would have been equally safe on the street. This reveiw is being left only after speaking with the manager for our location. Obviously we are leaving and due to this experience we are leaving Extra Space entirely. EDIT: The "state of the art security" Emily is referring to below had 1) no camera view on our unit 2) There is a commercial parking lot in the rear of the complex that has been rented out for day use, hundreds of non-renters per day on site and 3) No code required upon exiting the premises. If Emily wishes to rectify the damage she is well aware of the multiple units that were burglarized that weekend and all filed police reports, she can find me just fine. read more

I'm leaving this review because of the lack of willingness for customer service. I purchased 4 queen-size stage bed bags on July 16th. I was asked if I wanted the receipt and politely said no, as I would be using all the bags. I went back to return them twice and was told without a receipt, no refund. I asked Kaylee yesterday on my 2nd visit if I could show her my account info which showed the purchase and amount. She flat out said NO. I had the proof in my hand I made the purchase and was told NO. I called today to speak with the manager who was not there and was told she should be in tomorrow. I'm sorry when you have proof of the charge, that's as good as a receipt. 4 items at $6.79 each plus tax equal the amount charged on my Chase card. Hoping to resolve this tomorrow. read more

Very upset regarding online account. For some reason when I paid for my storage it charged 2 payments of $179 and one for $180 for the same unit! I called to ask them to reject the payments that were overpaid and she said there has always been a charge for $180..well...what are the 2 payments of $179 coming from???? That is almost $400 out of my account that should be reversed. Too bad cause she said it takes 3 days to a week for that to happen!!!! WHAT???? Our storage area was broken into and many of the boxes opened. The thieves had a lot of time to look into each and every box and take what they wanted. The lock was not visibly damaged so someone had a key. When I complained they said call the police, file an insurance loss. They said they were not responsible and couldn't take the blame.
