It's not in a safe area of Kensington, but the hours are limited right now so that staff is on site to keep an eye on things. Most importantly, the service has been great. I'm surprised by the review below--I wonder if they've changed management or at least staff? Because in just two short weeks, one of their managers Michael has already become one of our favorite people. He was friendly from the start, showing us around the space and making sure we were happy with the unit we'd booked online. He went above and beyond when I ran over their official hours trying to load some last-minute belongings before we left on our trip. I was stressed, overwhelmed, and working as quickly as possible. He kindly told us not to worry and then left us along for another 20 minutes to finish up. I'm sure staying late at work was the last thing he wanted to be doing at 6pm on a Saturday night but he sent us off with a wave and the same friendly demeanor. A storage space is a storage space, but for the price, cleanliness, and the service, I highly recommend Store Space. Pro Tip: the "ground" floor is actually the basement and requires an elevator to reach. It's discounted for that reason, but we definitely misunderstood the online advertising. 1st floor = ground floor (no elevator required).

My monthly due date is the 8th. Like many Americans, money is tight and I knew that I would be paying a $20 late fee - but that I also had a 5 day grace period. I started receiving phone calls on May 11 from personnel in this location telling me that I needed to pay my bill. The next phone call was on the 13th and I spoke with the representative and told her I was aware that my payment was late. All total - I received 8 phone calls and six text messages regarding my account. It was worse than a collection agency. Because I've never been this late before (groceries, gas, medication VS. paying storage who wins?) I did not know that an additional $20 was assessed four days after the first assessed penalty. I have rented from this location for over 7 years starting when it used to be Metro. I had a testy exchange with George on Saturday, who implied that I was trying to skip out on my bill and that they deal with this all the time. He also said he'd "try" to pass my concerns along to the area manager, but he's not in control of her schedule and hopefully she'd get back to me sometime this week. I was outraged and called the corporate customer service number and explained my offense. The area manager finally called me today and it was - again - an abysmal, defensive conversation. I learned that $40 is part of the "late" fees and accepted that; however, my complaint was that I was being harassed and maltreated as a longtime customer and that the texts and emails are excessive. She proceeded to interject and said she'd let me talk and now it was her turn and that because I keep interrupting her she can't help me. She essentially defended the actions of the Limerick staff and never once treated my concerns as valid. It's not about the money anymore - it's about the professional disrespect that she is green lighting. DO NOT RENT UNITS FROM COMPASS. THE LIMERICK LOCATION IS THE WORST AND SO IS THE AREA MANAGER. I cannot WAIT to get my things and leave after spending thousands of dollars over several years. The price hikes are also so out of control that it borders on extortion.

Remember, as a general rule, storage rental facilities are largely unregulated which means they can raise your rent with 30 days notice to pretty much any amount they want and they know they have you on the hook because you won't want to relocate your stuff. If you get a quoted price online, lock it in for six month or a year by pre-paying if you can. ALSO remember - you can get your own rental unit insurance from any number of companies for half what the rental unit companies will charge you and bring in proof of insurance at the time you rent (but you MUST do it in person). ALSO ALSO remember - you can also bring your own secure lock and not pay $20 for one of their locks. Do all of the above and any smart reasonable manager or employee is going to make your rental process smooth and painless.
