I would've never thought there was a place that specialized in pudding, but my husband had driven past and saw it and we thought we would give it a try. It's a small shop but does have some inside table seating. The guy running it, who I think is one of the owners, was super friendly. when he found out we had never been there before he gave us three samples. We had chocolate chip, red velvet, and the special banana pudding. We ended up buying Oreo, cheesecake and chocolate banana pudding. Out if all of the puddings our favorite was the Oreo cheesecake. I did have a different consistency than the puddings. It was a little bit more firm, which you would expect w the cheesecake. Everything tasted good. I'm giving this four stars only because I think the price might be a little bit high. It's $9 for 8 ounces of pudding. The nice thing is if you are looking for a last filling dessert then some thing like ice cream or just something out of the ordinary, this is your place. They are all pre-made not made to order. Opted for the traditional banana and French vanilla pudding. They were both good but the banana was my favorite. As a banana pudding fanboy, I was shocked to see on Google Maps a store that exclusively sold banana pudding! Once I saw I was going to be somewhat nearby, I knew I had to stop in. In a very small strip mall, it seems majority of people place catering or online orders. When we went in, there was just a large fridge with all their flavors and not much else! The man helping us was very friendly and gave us a few tips on their happy hour deals. And he let us know that the goodies are only good for 4 days in the fridge! But don't worry they get eaten up pretty fast. We ended up getting 3 flavors and two of them were decent, but my favorite was definitely the Banana Bread Cheesecake flavor. This one had literal chunks of banana bread in it! The contrast of the rough banana bread with the extra creamy banana pudding made this a textural trick room!! If we are ever in the area again, I would surely pick that up again. There are so many flavors I would want to try, but even their small containers are big for one person. If you are looking for fancy, this ain't your jam. If you are looking for bells and whistles, again, not for you. But if you wanna try some seriously good pudding -- the kind my Southern grandma used to make (only better, sorry Grams), you should give it a go. You will have to look for it. Hard. Came in right before closing yesterday and I had a really nice conversation with the older gentleman at the register, he let me try some samples and they were amazing. Unfortunately when I went home and tried the pudding I got, it was beyond spoiled! Like fermented spoiled. The bananas were gray, the flavor was burning my tongue at one point because it was so sour and there were puddles of liquid from how fermented and spoiled it was. Unfortunately at first I didn't check and some of it still tasted kind of normal but I couldn't put my finger on the weird aftertaste I had before I got a banana slice that was horrible, my stomach was huting ALL NIGHT. I wasn't upset, I tried samples at the shop and I knew this had to be an accident, the reviews here are too good. I called the shop a few minutes ago and it sounded exactly like the guy from yesterday. I began explaining that I was a costumer and I was there yesterday and he randomly cut me off and started screaming at me " NO! NO! NO!" and just hung up! I called again and my number was blocked. Honestly i'm just surprised at the behavior he was so nice yesterday! I don't think I will be back, they don't date anything so he doesn't know how old anything is. This place has been on my list for a while and finally made the trip over to grab some banana pudding! The entrance is a little confusing since you walk in and see a menu right away but the actual shop is behind the front area with the menu. We got the original banana pudding and the pistachio, both in 8oz which is a pretty good size for one person, if not even a little too much. For some reason I thought that all the flavors would have a base of banana and then the flavor is additional. Instead, its just that flavor. So pistachio was just pistachio flavor only. Not a bad thing, just a side note. So this style of pudding I would call more of a mousse. It's a lot fluffier and less liquid than any pudding I've had. That might have been ok but unfortunately the flavors were also not great. They both tasted a little too artificial and very one noted. The banana flavor did have real bananas in it which was nice but the pudding tasted artificial. The pistachio had some small pistachios in it but it also only had a few nilla wafers in it which I wanted more of to have more textural contrast. read more

Was super excited to find out they offer dairy free banana pudding. It is really hard to find a place that does have this option. Since I am a fan of banana flavor anything I made the drive from National City to La Mesa to try one of their puddings. I bought the vegan banana flavor pudding. Not going to lie, but I was disappointed in texture (maybe has to do with the vegan ingredients?). It was more liquid than whipped or mousse like compared to the non-vegan puddings I saw on their IG stories. BUT the flavor was there. No fake instant pudding flavor and the flavor is what most mattered to me. I applaud this business for offering vegan options because so many desserts places do not. Also, if you are looking to buy a vegan flavor pudding and show up during happy hour please note they exclude the vegan puddings from the $2 off. NO line, just us. Cool. They didn't even have the sizes I asked for over the phone either, or our order ready. Like??? Everything was pre-made and sitting in the fridge. I thought everything was freshly made to order. That was my bad for assuming. So what's the point of even calling ahead? So the taste....issa no for me dawg. I had such high expectations, and nothing about it was extraordinary to ME lol. The pudding was the consistency of soft cheesecake filling, the bananas were brown and the cookies were soggy (Again, pre-made). We ordered 4 of the regular banana pudding and one chocolate banana. My sis actually really liked the banana chocolate, so there's that. Craving something sweet, and decided to drive 25 mins to support, but were left pretty disappointed. This is a place that does one thing and it does it better than any place I know of, including certain famous ones in a city to the north. It's not bragging if you can back it up and this place makes truly extraordinary banana pudding. It's easily the best I've ever had, it is the epitome of what it should be. But recently it's clear they've expanded into now extraordinary puddings. Their ube banana is something I didn't know I needed but now I do. Their vanilla and chocolates are what modern puddings strive to be but can't. And they're the only place I know of that makes vegan puddings and my wife (who isn't vegan but can't eat eggs) loves it. Their staff is also friendly cheerful and wonderful - and they especially love if you bring in dogs in cute outfits lol. It's a very oddly hidden place but well worth the drive from anywhere. I could definitely taste the terrific vanilla flavor. The texture was not as silky and creamy as I expected, but it still was good eating. I liked the little cookies they put on the bottom. This is a unique dessert vendor that just recently opened in a small La Mesa plaza. They have a spacious suite, but only a fraction of the space is occupied by a large display refrigerator. There are up to ten flavors that they carry in stock. Prices are $8 for a small serving (8 oz) and $12 for a large serving (12 oz). You can even order a 12 x 12 tray for $30 if smaller sized quantities are what you are seeking. The owner was doing some housekeeping when I arrived so I interacted with a lady who was staffing the register. She offered me a sample of the chocolate banana pudding. I ended up purchasing two 12 oz containers to-go, banana and cheesecake. The pudding was extremely smooth and creamy. Each one had three vanilla wafers placed on top. The best thing was you didn't feel cloyed after eating. Their business is strictly take-out so it's perfect for this environment. Give this place a try if you happen to be passing by the area.
