I appreciated that because I wanted to understand why the temperature had been fluctuating instead of just being handed a repair bill. While they had the vehicle, they also checked the heater operation because I'd noticed that the cabin heat wasn't getting as warm as it normally did. The technician explained how the coolant system affects both engine temperature and the vehicle's heating system, which helped everything make much more sense. After the repair and coolant service, the temperature gauge stayed exactly where it should during both stop-and-go D.C. traffic and longer drives. The heater also returned to normal operation. I reminded him that it wasn't a "musty" smell at all, but allowed him to replace the filters. The next day, the temperature gauge went through the roof as I was driving out Route 66 near Vienna. I barely had time to steer off an exit before the power steering went and pulled into a post office parking lot as smoke poured from the engine compartment. Discharge from the radiator looked like vomit (in fact, coolant full of melted plastic). Got the car towed to Craftsman Auto Care nearby. They reported that the radiator had cracked as a result of coolant system failure. They recommended not even attempting repairs and predicted that the engine was also highly compromised. Sadly, I donated my much-loved vehicle to Habitat for Humanity. Even the least competent mechanic on the planet knows that when you do an oil change, you check fluid levels. If the guy had checked, he would have instantly known the coolant was all gone. But according to him, all good. It has taken me a long time (almost a year) to write this review, as I have sought counsel from knowledgeable mechanics and others and recovered from this mishap caused by negligence. I have emailed the shop (Abed and Mohammed) a fairly calm recounting of events, asking for their response, and have received none.

I tried another mechanic for my Honda Civic, but it just wasn't the service I wanted or expected. So, fast forward to an issue with my window. Long story short, I had it replaced by a certain well-known company, and three months later it wouldn't roll all the way up. They came back out to honor the lifetime warranty only to tell me it was the regulator. IMO they/he was responsible for breaking the regulator, as there was no problem with the window until it was replaced. There was definitely a nexus. But I digress. Instead of having to search for another mechanic in Baltimore, I just returned to what I already knew was good--Auto Tech. Todd and family are very personable and make you feel like you're at home. They're not trying to cheat you out of your hard-earned money by making up things that need to be repaired. If there's an issue, they'll lay out your options and let you choose which route you'd like to take. Again, I'm in Baltimore. But that's not a problem, as their waiting area is superb. You'll find the Wi-Fi code right there where you can see it. At one point Todd came out and said I could change the channel if I wanted to. They've got a nice coffee machine, snacks, and leather chairs that are as comfortable as the ones I have at home. My AC was also running warm so they checked that and topped it off. I also had them check my brakes. And they quickly repaired my window. The price was very reasonable. So, I'll just have to keep coming back to Bowie to have my Honda Civic serviced. No problem.
