A very expensive lesson learned. TRUST THESE RATINGS and read the reviews before making an appointment here. Upon arriving I attempted to check in for my appt and was told someone would be with me in a few moments, no problem. One of the staff members needed assistance with checking me in so he asked for help from the GM, Jon. Jon, such a gentleman, raised his voice at me in front of customers and said I told him to cancel my appointment. This was repeated loudly and numerous times to the point where I had to show proof that I confirmed my appointment via text and email. Jon, attitude thang GM, was persistent and again repeated that he called me and I told him vocally over the phone to cancel the appointment. I respectfully let him know he did not speak with me however I did receive his VM and then played it back. Jon, such a kind soul insisted that he spoke with me. Here I am, showing up to an appointment that I canceled... The nerve of me lol. Besides the poor customer service aspect - the prescription to the lenses are incorrect and make me feel nauseas. I also ordered contacts and was told I was going to get 30 days worth of free contacts due to the makers rebate. I did not receive them and don't care to pick em up if they do come in. read more

Dr Sesso is amazing but I would never will go back to see Dr Gary Sterczek. When I saw him last fall, he ordered me a trial contact, but he over-compensated the prescription, by a full point per eye. With Dr Bernardi, I was 20/30 with one eye ans 20/25 with the other eye. The trials Dr S gave me, I was 20/60 with one eye and 20/40 with the other eye. I had a stye when the trials came in, so he would not give me the contact and I had to wait 3 months (he sent me to an ophthalmologist to give me a prescription but according to him, he also works with eye infections, so couldn't he prescribed me an antibiotic). When he finally agreed to see me, due to he wanted to make sure they fit properly, he asked why was I there? So I told him and he asked me to come back a week later to check the vision. I went back and asked me why did I come back when I just saw him 5 months ago. I reminded him and told him I couldn't see that well and can we tweak the script a little? He said my eyes are old and we would fix it this coming Sept. I saw 2 completely different Dr's and they both said he gave me a full point too strong prescription. I also said that I couldn't see the computer while typing so he gave me a script for that as well - to put over my contacts. The office staff is nice now, but 2021 staff orderd the wrong prescription glasses for me, initially made me pay for them to fix their mistake to order me correct glasses, (I did get that back), told me I needed progressive glasses (both of the new Dr's from different locations said I do not need progressive glasses) and they gave away my contact trials for my "updated" prescription in 2021. They claimed I picked them up when I couldn't drive that month due to medical issues. read more

I left a separate review on Google. Bottom line is their incompetent manager Jon should be terminated. A completed paid invoice is what it is. You cannot expect payment for new charges to be named later for your own supposed mistakes. After investigation, insurance was not to blame as they originally claimed. He later confessed to an internal error. Be honest with your customers up front and you'll get respect. Your priorities as a manager should be to keep regular customers that have been patronizing your business for years. read more

Fantastic experience at Eye Boutique! Dr. Sterczek was attentive and kind. As an aging adult I have been experiencing a need for reading glasses. His patience allowed me to get an accurate prescription, great contacts and progressive glasses. The most admirable is that he took the time to provide education on normal aging trends and what to expect the next 10 years. Gave me so much hope. I ended up with a trial set of contacts that were great and singing "I can see clearly now." Just to put this into context. I am hypervigilant on my vision. I go to an optometrist annually since I was 6 years old. I noted changes and was worried. He provided comfort. My father had macular degeneration and the scan provided additional reassurance that I am not there at this point. My partner had great service and we were provided great service. This place has really friendly staff and I had a really good experience with Dan. I had an appointment at 10:00am and they still took me in to help my needs without rush. From the sales staff to the doctor everything was great and informative. I was coming in for an eye exam for prescription and the doctor told me that my prescription was still valid and suggested me to save $50 and apply them to glasses I liked! They called the old eye doctor and got the prescription for not only my glasses but contacts as well. All in less than 15 minutes which was what it took me to pick out my glasses. Dan (sales) was really descriptive and showed me the differences in the types of upgrades I could do if I wanted too. Dan keep doing what you doing! Since my first pair of glasses I've always gone to Eye Boutique in Schaumburg. My last pair of glasses I paid over $600 less than a year ago. I have NEVER broken or abusive a pair. I was a customer for over 25 years, but the service has gone down severely the past few years. Not only does the upfront staff come off cold and unfriendly, but my last experience put the cherry on top and I will not be back. I am 38 weeks pregnant, and discovered my prescription has expired for new contacts. According to Edith on the phone, their next appt is not for another 2 weeks, after my due date. When I asked if I could get a sample pair to hold me over until my appt due to my situation, I was told to "just wear my glasses." When I told her that wasn't possible, she rudely replied "well... that's what people do when they don't have contacts..." Only after I asked for her to leave a message for the manager or Dr did she offer any other type of solution. After leaving a message, Edith called back and said I was denied a sample pair by the dr and would need to wait until I could physically come in. I'm not asking for Oxycodones here people, just a pair of contacts after being a customer for YEARS! I stopped in here today to schedule appointment and had the displeasure of dealing with Edith. I remember why I stopped coming to this place three years ago was the fact that you as a customer are considered a distraction to them and what they do. The moment I walked in the door she showed nothing but distain for me and my presence in their shop. Every question I ask about contacts or monovision she answered with a short and condescending response. I work in the customer service field and if this is the way that they are treating the customers over and over I don't know how they stay in business. This place is horrible and the company is general. Most eye doctors will advise you that your insurance will not cover under your insurance for 1 year. I purchase contact lenses due since I worked in a nursing and exposed to covid-19 in April 2020. I went in for an eye exam and to purchase more contacts in Jan 2021. When I made the appointment they never mention to wait until April 2021 to purchase my contact lenses since I will not be covered under my insurance. Now they are charging me. Along with that I was the phone with my insurance and another representative told me and my insurance that the person running the auth forgot to scan the benefits form. They are unable to waive the bill mailed to me even though this is something that the company could of avoided for their customers. They sure were fast to make me purchase the contact lenses without trying to help out a customer. Please read this review before you pick this place/company. Even the corporate person was unhelpful when explained the situation she just told me I would still have to pay the bill. Unbelievable. Never going back to this place!!! read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. This place is a nightmare, plain and simple. I have yet to meet ONE person who has anything good to say about this place, and I am truly amazed it's still in business. Everything is wrong with it, so I don't know where to start. Let's start with the doctors. It's a revolving door there, so don't expect to stay with one if you happen to find one you like. I forgot the name of the one I saw last (probably long gone by now) but she insisted I "re-test" on my basic eye exam. Uh....what? Nice way to try and get more money out of me, lady. Think again. Also, prepare to wait FOREVER, no matter what. My husband was lied to about when his prescription sunglasses came in. Their staff does not have ANYTHING together. My dad also went their once, and he was also given the run-around about contacts. These sort of things happen all the time with them, so consider this a warning. The "professionals" assisting you with your glasses and contacts are shady and remind me of used-car salesmen. They are pokey, computer-illiterate, and will raise your blood pressure. Don't waste your time. There are real, caring optometrists in the 'burbs. Sadly, this place does not have one amongst them. read more

Selection of eye glasses is "OK" but really nothing special. A lot of brands but the styles are redundant. The staff person that helped me when I purchased the glasses was polite and seemed to know what she was doing when she did the dot on the lense thing. But no one helped me look at frames or recommended any style or color or shape. I was on my own. Some people might find that good but I wanted some feedback. The eye doctor was fine. He was able to tweak my prescription a little so that was helpful. When I picked up my glasses the woman was not at all helpful. At first she couldn't find my glasses and questioned whether I had been called. She did find them. Then when I told her I wanted to look at frames for sunglasses she again didn't offer any suggestions based on my face shape or size. When I decided on a frame it was only then that she told me they weren't covered by my insurance because I had already bought a pair of glasses. I wish she had told me that before I took the time to look for frames. When I tried on the new glasses she didn't check the alignment or how they sat on my head. They are a little off kilter. I didn't notice it until I saw myself in the mirror. They are crooked. So now I will have to make another trip there to get that fixed. I have been at much better places. I won't be back. read more

Charles is very patient and professional so these two stars are for him. The gentleman Robert who checked me in was not nice at all. First, he didn't asked me for insurance info before I went to see the doctor. Second, he seemed very indifferent when I was asking for my insurance coverage. For example, my insurance gave me $130 allowance for frames and he told me the average price for frame would be $300 without telling me more info. It is only after I asked WHERE is the cheapest frames then he pointed the area to me reluctantly. Third, when I asked questions he often answered with hmm. I carry VSP insurance through my work. I made an appointment for 7 PM. I was a little concern because of the wait. Dr. Sesso was very busy. But I didn't mind, I kept busy chose a a pair of frames that I liked and played on my phone. (Also there is a Starbucks next door). Dr. Sesso was friendly and informative. I told him about my concerns and he listened. He took his time and wasn't in a rush. The staff is really nice and awesome to work with. After the exam. They explained what my insurance covered and didn't. I paid for the exam, and got an incredible deal on awesome glasses (thank you VSP!) They told me they would be ready in a week and they were. I've been coming to this eye doctor for the quite some time and I've never had any issues. Scheduling is pretty easy with evening & weekend availability. Both the doctor and the staff have all been courteous & friendly. In fact, I think the staff goes above & beyond in assisting you pick out frames. They have a huge selection and it can be overwhelming but they ask you some questions, find out a few styles you like and then take you around to try some different pairs. And they give you honest feedback about what looks good on you & don't just try to sell expensive frames. Instead of me trying on 50+ like I normally would when left alone at eye doctors of the past, here I tried on about a dozen, narrowed it down to 3 and then made my choice. Painless! read more

This optical has a good selection of frames and the prices are reasonable. What gives them a bad review is their customer service. I had called them to make sure they were accepting walk ins during the pandemic. The person on the phone told me they were and I informed her that I would be there in 15 minutes. When I arrived, the doors were locked and someone walked over to tell me they would only take me if I had an appointment. I left and schedule the appointment over the phone for a different day. The day of the appointment, things went well. They told me they would call me once the glasses were ready for pick up, no more than 2 weeks. I called after 2 weeks since I had not heard anything. They said they were still waiting for the glasses to arrive. Four days after that the glasses arrived, no explanation for the delay was given. When I went to pick them up, I attempted to try them on to make sure they fit correctly and no adjustments were needed. The lady very abruptly said that I needed to leave the premises and try them on while standing on the sidewalk! There is absolutely nothing that would motivate me to ever return to work. Went here due to Opthalmologist's recommendation. The staff are okay. Pricing is questionable. I've never had anyone ask me whether I wanted the edges of the lens ground down. It has always been done. Here there's an up charge believe it was $15-$20. Requested for the ocular center measurement when we went to pick up the eyeglasses, that costed me $10 plus taxes. I blooming paid $10.10 for the individual to literally write "0.51" on a piece of paper hahaha. I won't be going back and don't think you should either. read more

Regardless of the other (fairly old) reviews, I had a perfectly normal visit here. I wanted prescription sunglasses (wileyX) and this was one of the closest places that carried them. Got in quickly for an eye exam (it had been a couple years), everything went perfectly normal. Dr. Sesso was fine, and nice to talk to. Too bad my vision insurance doesn't cover sunglasses, so I had to pay out of pocket, but they let me bargain the price down a bit. I was just there last week for my Annual eye exam. I'm giving Dr. Sesso Five STAR! HE is the BEST! He took his time, answered all my questions and very thorough. I have been going to Eye Boutique for about 5 years now (maybe more) and been seeing the same Optometrist. I highly recommend this place with Dr. Sesso. I got all my RX glasses made there and they have the best price compare to other neadby competitors, and I just started using contact lens again. DONT GO THERE!! Rude on the phone and refused to order me a new contact when mine cracked. I understand you need an exam every year but I was waiting for my eye insurance to kick in before making an appointment. I had also just spent $900 on my car the same week and explained all of that. They still refused. I then asked for my prescription to be faxed 4x and they never did fax it. Good news...I FOUND THE MOST AMAZING EYE DOCTOR BECAUSE OF ALL THIS. *update* I have upgraded my rating from one star to three. I was contacted by the office manager Sarah who evidently read my review on YELP and wanted to discuss my experience. She invited me to return to the office to see what she could do to rectify my situation. She was very professional and apologized for the substandard customer service I received. She was able to adjust the glasses that I purchased so they were no longer falling off of my face and assured me I was welcome to return anytime I needed them adjusted. I appreciated the follow up. Hopefully they will address their staff issues to avoid others experiencing the same treatment. Original post: We have been clients with Eye Boutique for over 10 years. In the past have always received decent customer service. The most recent appointment I had was extremely disappointing. When I arrived at the store I wasn't greeted although there were 2 employees standing behind the counter. When I was finally noticed I was treated like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. I was given several form to fill out so my records could be updated. Upon returning the completed forms to the counter I was again treated like I was an interruption. The appointment with Dr. Sesso went just fine but when I returned to the reception area no instructions were given to me regarding picking out new frames. I wandered around the store, not one person offered to assist me in choosing the proper frame for the type of lenses I needed or offered any feedback as to the size or style I was looking for. I chose a frame that I thought looked good and took them to the counter. They were evidently installing a new computer system which malfunctioned and throughout the entire process the tech complained about how difficult it was using the system. I told the tech I had lost my original glasses and asked to be notified as soon as they came in. Almost 2 week went by and I happen to stop by to inquire if the new glasses had arrived and the same woman who took care of me earlier looked to see if they came in and informed me they had been there a few days and couldn't leave me a message on the number they had on file. They never updated their records with the information I provided so they were calling a number that was no longer used. She then proceeded to hand me my glasses over the counter... Never checked to see if they fit properly or needed adjustment. Now I have glasses that are ill-fitting, sit crooked on my face and keep falling down the bridge of my nose. Extremely disappointed at the customer service considering how much money glasses cost in their establishment. read more

Update: I would highly recommend Rosin EyeCare in East Dundee instead of this dump. Dr. Weinstein is very knowledgeable and the staff is very helpful. The Eye Boutique is the worst place you can go to get your glasses. Their policy is if and when they mess up (which they will), screw the customer. Not only is Dr. Sesso clueless and cannot accurately do an eye exam (I had to go 3 times to get it rechecked, which they still got it wrong!) the front desk is managed by morons who don't care or don't know what they are doing. I agree with one of the reviewers that Jennifer, their new manager, only is concerned with dollars and does not have any sense of customer service. She actually had the nerve to tell me that the doctor only made the prescription based on what I, as a patient, told him. If that was the case, what are customers paying you guys for?! The Dr. messed up my daughter's prescription also. When he suggested for her to get contacts (remember, he messed up the prescription the first time), I agreed on having him make the contacts prescription. But they did not mention that they would charge me extra before getting the contacts prescription. They had the audacity to ask for additional money even though they already got the money from my vsp plan. Stay away from this place unless you want to get robbed and want crap for return. I too had a horrible customer service experience. I have a child with a huge dependency on her glasses which are broken. I walked in and asked for help. Your staff, Edith, offered no solutions. This isnt the first time Ive had a bad experience with Edith also. This time, she didn't even attempt to try to fix them - only offered scotch tape, which was an insult. I asked for my daughters contact prescription and was denied, even though the prescription was still valid! I asked to see the Dr and she said sorry he's booked and we only do contact tutorials at 2:00pm on weekdays. THE CHILD CANT SEE! She had no empathy, no urgency and most of all was no help! Im a 20 year patient, and your staff showed no concern in my hour of need. Well, lucky for me there are other eye glass shops in this area.
