Cashew sees himself in the mirror.
    Walter R.

We adopted a dog from the SDHS who was blind & deaf. After all he went through before being rescued, we wanted to get him his sight back. We were referred to them by our eye vet in Kearny Mesa who did cataract surgery on our little rescue Cashew. He told us there are only 3 vet surgeons that do retina surgery in the U.S. so we were lucky we live in San Diego. After this surgery, our boy's right eye retina detatched and was losing sight in it again. It was suggested that they tack the left eye's retina too as precaution. The staff here was friendly. Especially the technitions and the eye vet surgeon Dr. Hoffman. We felt very confident in how they explained things to us, gave us the "good & bad" that could happen. At 1st we had bad news. The vet said the left eye was WAY too swollen to be operated on. Could try another time later on after getting the swelling to go away after treatment. But if any tear happened, the longer you wait, the less likely it could be repaired from what we understood from both eye vets. Boy did we pray all day, as did all our friends for us, that a miracle would happen. And it did. The eye vet called at 3PM and said the left eye swelling went down enough and she WAS able to tack the retina. Our boy can see and boy has it added joy to his life! (The only bad I can say about this place, is the little benches in the lobby and rooms are so uncomfortable if you're sitting for any length of time! Even saw one lady sitting on the concrete floor in the lobby leaning against the uncomfortable benches as it was more comfortable for her.)

love this office AND the eye specialist. they were very accommodating with my big boy (great dane) the office and waiting area is low lit and a very comforting vibe. i appreciate the dr being on time and the ease at which she explained what was going on. this was our 2nd time coming into this office and it followed the same excellent care as the first time. i HIGHLY recommend this office. the front office staff is very sweet and attentive. thank you for the great care!!

Belle after her eye appointment! Sleepy!

We love this place! Last year Belle had crazy high eye pressure & was given an injection that works effectively for 60-70% of dogs. We were worrying our socks off that it wouldn't work & we would have to consider surgery (which, at her age of estimated 14, may not be practical). Luckily the procedure worked! We came back because her eye bulges sometimes, especially when she is stressed, & fills with blood. We were concerned the eye pressure was up again. However, it was only at a 5, and the expected range is 10-20, I believe. So relieved! We discussed with the doctor how to care for her eye that has an ulcer (she can't really feel it, but we were given eye antibiotics) and a treatment gel that gives relief to both eyes. The male technician was a sweetheart, he was speaking so gently to Belle when he was holding her. It's so sweet when employees treat your dog like they're their own. Overall this place deserves 5 stars for how much they've helped Belle. We were even 30 mins late to our last appointment (we're coming from Long Beach) & this time they were able to still take us. If you call before 8am, you get the after-hours answering service. Thank you Eye Care for Animals!

What a wonderful clinic! These services are top notch, from checkin to procedures, to check out. The doctors identified my Shih Tzu's needs and she had two positive eye procedures. I felt supported, informed and heard. I cannot recommend enough, the staff and facility are amazing.

I don't know what to say... I'm speechless the best way lace to take care of your family! They saved my Jackson's eye... They were all so helpful and patient with us. The answered every question every picture and I highly recommend it to everybody for their little additional family members.

Best experience I've ever had at an office!! My dog had a tumor on her lower lid. She had it removed under sedation, thankfully they were able to fit us in same day.

This office is amazing! After a very negative experience with our regular veterinary clinic, we are so appreciative of the tender loving care both our baby, and us as parents have received by this team. I write this review for other pet parents that are searching for an eye specialist and want to feel assured they are going to be in good care. You will find this here! Our cat had been experienced a thick cloudiness develop in one of his eyes overnight. We visited our regular vet clinic first and after a little over 2 weeks of being manipulated and not taken care of, we found Eye Care for Animals Pasadena and I would not second guess are choice to stick with them. Dr. Kaminsky and a few of her incredible nurses helped us figure out what tests were absolutely necessary to find a solution for his eye(while discovery his high blood pressure & assisting with that as well). We ended up having to remove his eye, which of course we were nervous for him especially as he is FIV positive, and they held our hand graciously along each step of the way. About a week after his surgery, he experience a mild seizure at about 10pm at night. I called their emergency line for guidance and within 15 minutes, the emergency line nurse had our doctor texting me to guide me through next times. We texted for about 15/20 minutes to assure my son would be ok through the night and I'm so incredibly grateful! There are so many great things I could say about this time, but I think you get the idea. Thank you Eye Care for Animals Pasadena! You've made such a positive impact on our family, even during a tough time x

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

I paid at the end, the receptionist called the team to confirm nothing else was needed on my end, then I left. The next day, I was notified that they forgot to charge me an additional fee from USDA, and was told that had I responded to Rosey's messages prior to our appointment "I would have known that". I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

They offer 3 types of memberships. After talking to my pet insurance, I've decided to go for All Access $199/year for my puppy. This option is great due to unlimited visits with no exam fee, preferred access to sick urgent care when fully booked, and 24/7 virtual care including chat, phone & video. They also offer nail trim for $30. More expensive than other places, but they do offer it. Overall, love this place! Highly recommend!

Some of the vets are good, others not so much. We finally decided to switch to a new practice after experiencing enough errors and lapses in care to realize our dogs are not safe receiving care at Vet Villa. I strongly recommend avoiding Vet Villa. 1) Vet Villa prescribed Carprofen flavored tablets to our dog for a painful condition. We were not instructed to keep the bottle far out of reach. The dog found the pill bottle, chewed through the plastic, ate all the pills and suffered an accidental overdose. This led to 2 emergency vet visits, gastrointestinal toxicity that kept us up all night for 5 nights, and large out of pocket costs. But we are glad our dog is still alive. The emergency vet told us they always counsel pet parents to keep this medication bottle far away from the pet, and that they have seen multiple similar overdoses. Vet Villa did not acknowledge my feedback to change their counseling practices to prevent this from happening to others in the future. 2) A skin biopsy was performed in a completely inappropriate fashion by a veterinarian who acted as if she had never evaluated a skin lesion before. I can speak to this because I am a practicing dermatologist. The vet's approach as she examined reminded me of a first year medical student evaluating a condition for the first time. I did not contradict the vet's recommendation and gave it a chance. After all, I am a human doctor, what do I know about veterinary care. As expected, the results returned inconclusive due to the incorrect sampling method. The out of pocket cost was significant. 3) Bloodwork was lost and had to be re-drawn -- no explanation for why it was lost. 4) The practice's own pharmacy does not share prescription records with the office. I was asked in a very accusatory way to provide proof of a prescription that had been continuously refilled by Vet Villa using their own pharmacy for several years.

Dr Evelyn is always thorough in giving treatment and answering all questions, though she now doesn't have many appointments available and has her other doctors take the vast majority of patients. Dr Li is ok but not as good as Dr Evelyn, he often does not follow up with test results and you have to track him down to get answers. Not to mention their prices are insanely high, even for CA standards. And when you finish a tech appointment, they just try to rush you out of there and hand your dog over, you have to really dig to get some information on your pet or how to use medication. The main issue is that Petsadena now directs calls to a call center operator with AI-like humanoids. Most of the time they don't even answer. If they do, they do everything in their power to avoid connecting you to the vet's office. Explaining the issue or leaving a message is useless, never get a return call. Really frustrating experience not being able to get connected to a human that can handle questions or issues. I have since found a new vet. What a difference 9 years can make, very unfortunate this is the way they treat long-term clients now. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager.
