Dr Bingham was great. I went forward with eyelid procedure and was amazed at how little pain there was. Especially considering how delicate the tissues are. During healing i had a concern and dropped by with no appointment. His team took immediate care of me and Dr Bingham was great. I was pretty nervous about doing this and could not be happier with the care and outcome. read more

After the eye exam itself, the opticians barely paid us any attention. We told them what we wanted and the optician just kinda fumbled around while the other was clearly surfing the internet. We asked for a specific shape of frames and were hoping to be shown some options, but all we got was to look through a box of frames, none of which matched what we asked for. I don't think that the optician knew the inventory or the styles available. The optician was not at all engaged and seemed disinterested in helping us. When we left, the optician just went back to surfing the internet. The eye exam was OK, but I only saw the doctor after dialation. Someone else did the refraction, so that was odd. There are plenty of optical shops in town, so no need to go back to this one. read more

I had to have cataracts removed. When discussing the lens to be inserted I had the feeling that Dr. NeahrIng wasn't really paying attention. Unlike most people, with my lifestyle close vision is a better choice than far. Specifically, very close as in for reading. More than once I put my hand right in front of my nose to show him what meant by close. As I thought, he wasn't paying attention. He put in lenses with a focal length of about 2', which are good if you're sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen, but no good for reading, which is what I SHOWED him. The only way he could have made the mistake is if he wasn't paying attention. I could actually read better through my cataracts than I can now. Every time I have to fumble on reading glasses, which are sometimes not enough, I have to remind myself that I really should practice forgiveness, instead of wishing to dump a large pail of noxious garbage over his head. A *very* large pail. Having been an RN I don't throw around the word malpractice lightly, but I'm having trouble thinking of another one that fits. I do have to concede that my distance vision is appreciably better, which is why I give the man two stars instead of one. read more

I've had appointments where a particular receptionist ignored me. Not appreciated. Dr. Pulska and the rest of the staff were fine. My problem is with the eye glass department. I picked out a pair of glasses and got them fitted. I went to pick them up and they were the wrong strength, so I had to wait another week to get the proper strength. When the girl rang up my bill she just kept scanning in bar codes upping the bill $265 more over what I expected to pay. Couldn't believe it. I ended up paying $565 for a pair of glasses that literally fell apart after 2 years. I've had less expensive glasses that lasted many years. This price included my insurance too. I will not be going back and not recommend buying glasses there. The contact prices were very reasonable though. They won't give me more contacts because of my age and cataracts. Why can't they just give me cataract surgery and then contacts again? read more

Let me start by saying everyone I saw in person was great. But that's where it ends. I need cataract surgery. I'm completely blind in my right eye and my left is beginning to go, so I finally got up the courage to go in. I'm petrified of surgery, having lost both of my parents to post surgical complications. It took me over 5 years to work up the courage. I was very open with Eyecare Physicians of my fears, unrelated PTSD and how much it took to get me there, including anxiety meds. Did I mention, I'M TERRIFIED? The appointment went well and I was referred to Retina Consultants. I chickened out once and went the second time and got the exam completed. Then nothing.... chirp.... chirp.... I finally got the courage to call Eye Care Physicians after make a month. 10 minute hold (pretty normal for them) and I'm told they have not received anything from Retina Consultants. Can they check on it? No. They won't. They want me to do it. Seriously. THEY sent me there! So I call Retina Consultants. Retina Consultants tells me they didn't know anyone needed a report. Seriously? Okay, well send them a copy. "Who do you want us to send it to?" "The same placed that the referral came from." "Who's that?" "You don't have that in my records??????" Retina Consultants didn't know if it was Eyecare Physicians or my primary care physician. That's scary. Back to Eyecare Physicians, and another 10 minute hold, to let them know the report is coming, do they have any idea when they'll be able to get back to me. "Call us back in about a week." I'm done. I'm done playing middleman between 2 offices who can't communicate to each other. I'm done chasing these 2 clinics around like a couple toddlers, trying to make them talk to each other. I honestly don't know of I'm going to have my surgery done at this point. I truly am terrified and this experience has worsened my anxiety significantly. What I can say for sure though is that I will NOT be going back to Eyecare Physicians. From the unprofessionalism I've seen, I wouldn't trust the doctor to communicate the need for a scalpel to a nurse who might or might not be interested in me as a patient. read more

Frightened and Leary, I apprehensively walked through the door to this extremely calming and exquisitely designed entrance with inviting and very supportive receptionists. From there I was welcomed through to the quiet and warm decor waiting area which within I waited but a few moments until an assuredly charming Dr. I was there to see, as aforementioned, I was there expecting to receive horrific results. She was extremely well versed to the point when after all of the extensive tests and questions it was my belief and fear with all of my Health and past few years folly with tears and the obvious panic she spoke eloquently calming my fright and when all was said and done. er I was taken aback by her ending statement she would be sending the Dr in, i expressed that i thought she was Dr. as kind she left the room and within two to three breaths Dr. Erickson swept in with such finesse and calming charm about him, put my fear at ease made a plan that was a release of pressure in my long journey to this point and one answer after another never once looking away for a second answered every question to its end. I now look forward to seeing clearly very soon thank goodness for real very educational people being there in the places some fear taking the time to extend the knowledge necessary to calm an anxious mind in an uncertain situation. read more

5 stars for Dr. Harrington as he is wonderful. His care is always professional and thorough with a calm demeanor. The clinic itself is nice and spacious. I have to say that I've never seen so many receptionists at one time, in one place. Scheduling: Seems impossible to get anything scheduled in less than one, two, or even more three months out. Every, single, time! No appointments offered at 4pm or later to accommodate those who work or go to school. The appointments take up to two hours at times. On average, 1.5 hours and most of it is waiting to see the doctor. My time is also very valuable. When I schedule an appointment for a certain time I expect to be seen by the doctor at that time. And yes, I know things can get behind sometimes but an hour and a half is pretty ridiculous, rude and disrespectful frankly. I know they offer Saturday appointments at the Keizer location but I called today, Dec. 3rd, and they told me they aren't given the schedule till January 2025 and therefore are unable to make an appointment until then. That makes zero sense to me. Anyway - These are the reasons I constantly have to book an appointment elsewhere. I keep trying to go back as it's 2 blocks from my work and get the very same responses every single time. We are going on well over 20 years now. read more

The main reason I decided to go to a different provider from Eye care physicians is absolutely ridiculous waiting time to see your doctor after you already have been checked by an assistant. And I'm not talking about 15-20 minutes. It was always 30-40 mins but last time at my child's regular eye exam we were waiting to see Mr doctor for 62 minutes and it's after all the measurements and tests an assistant has done. Ironically our doctor was next door and we could hear how he chatted with a patient, who also sounded like his friend or neighbor. After their appointment they continued to chat about hobbies and personal matters for at least 45 mins. The only thing I regret now is that I didn't knock to interrupt our doc and remind that it's not a social event but a clinic. I had a great experience with a different provider the other day and my family will join me out there as well. Just a little reminder that everyone can take appointments but really the most important part is to attend it on time. read more

Further I was informed five months after my initial visit after telling them the glasses were not affective that I had moderate cataracts! and more amazingly than that they said THAT I refused treatment for them which was untrue. All the doctor said to me was "Everyone gets cataracts if they live long enough". They told me to schedule cataract surgery after two more months and no appointments at all scheduled they began telling numerous mistruths as to why I was not scheduled they actually tried to blame me saying they called me numerous times though I did not have any recent calls on my phone nor voicemails from them about scheduling. I finally had enough and went somewhere else. I'm SO VERY GRATEFUL I did, because I was told by the new facility my cataracts were very mild and didn't need to be removed. The eye testing was quick and professional done by an actual Ophthalmologist. Music playing staff very friendly relaxed, laughing, everyone without exception were kind and respectful. What a contrast! I cannot believe I WASTED 7 months of my time on this extremely inadequate care. read more

I was scared when I started this journey almost a year ago. I was diagnosed with glaucoma and cataracts aby 2 Dr's. I waited. I thought I needed my job more then my sight at the time and my job then was driving.well I learned my lesson as soon I couldn't see much with my right eye. Nothing at all. I went to a family eye dr who referred me to Dr. ERICKSON. I am not so big on doctors to be honest. I've been through some bad experiences and judged harshly by the medical community but I had to get my sight back. When I met Dr Erickson I knew he has that kind of class and knowledge about him that I've missed in so many other doctors recently and I trust him with my life. I'm about to get Mt left eye done soon but wow...my right eye went from blind to being able to drive at night without being scared I could hit someone. I thank Dr Erikson with all my heart. I can start my new job with confidence and confidence instead of thinking "wow, my co workers are not going g to like me long as I needed them to read for me constantly and my eyes no longer hert.i was tired of being scared all the time driving 34 miles home at night. I am so relieved that's over. read more

I have been coming here for about 5 years with the same doctor. I really appreciate the professionalism and knowledge of the doctor and staff. I also get my glasses (both everyday and sunglasses), there selection is pretty good (if they had a wider selection, I would probably give a 5) and their prices are not too bad. Don't get me wrong, they are no bargain basement eyewear shop. But the old saying rings true: you get what you pay for. And I choose to pay for professionalism and knowledge! read more

It was suggested that I go to Eyecare Physicians due to having floaters & I was told they could also address my night blindness. My appt was at 2:00 but wasn't called to the back till 2:35 then the female assistant does 2 tests on me then dilates my eyes then has me sit for 15 more min. The Dr finally comes in & all he does is confirm that yes I do have floaters. Well..I already knew that & told them that. Then when I asked again about my night blindness nothing was said then the Dr walked out of the room. I was so upset that I called Eyecare Physicians back, trying to find out if I may have missed something. The guy who answered the phone who was the guy who was assisting the Dr just sat on the phone and said nothing except for when he answered the phone. I said, " So...I just came in just to have what I already knew comfirmed?" The guy said nothing he just sat there on the phone. I then called another eye place & told them about my experience at Eyecare Physicians & literally cried because I am so frustrated. I got ZERO help. I took off at work for what??? I told this Dr how bad my night blindness is & still nothing. I am extremely disappointed. I'll do my own research. I know there is something that can be done. My wife, has been coming to Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons on South Liberty Street in Salem for nearly 3 years for annual diabetic eye exams. In that three years, my wife's vision has become more and more impaired, and though she does not have significant problems with her eyes (medically), according to their doctors, she has been repeatedly told that her vision is either beyond correction or only correctable to a barely visible focus. I have lived with siblings that all wear glasses, and I have a slight idea of how bad vision can get before it becomes irreconcilable with refractory remedies. So I have watched closely during her last appointment to see just how far that office is going to help correct her vision. During her last exam, back in May of this year, she was seen by a technician, who did a little work with the phoroptor and my wife. I was rather shocked to see him go in the opposite direction of focus, then seemingly throwing his hands up in defeat, saying that her vision cannot be corrected, then immediately dilating her eyes. No Optometrist, no accurate prescription, not even trying. The ophthalmologist came in, 10 minutes to check the retina's and eye health, and boom. Nothing to improve her vision. The curious thing about this appointment, is that it echoed every other appointment since we were referred to them by her previous ophthalmologist. No optometrist, check the eye ball health, but no prescription that has changed, even though she knows and has told everyone involved that her vision has changed. So immediately after observing this, we set an appointment with a local Optometrist, a couple of weeks later. Her vision is correctable to 20/20 (even 20/15), in fact, she has glasses that help her see extremely clear right now. Her Astigmatism axes were completely off, her spherical focuses were 4 full diopters off in both eyes, 1 diopter off cylindrical in both eyes, and her bifocal focus was off by 1 diopter. This was one month later, no miracle cures given to fix her vision, no surgery, no magic. Just a realistic prescription was needed. This practice sounds like it is wanting my wife to not be able to see, since we are unable to purchase glasses that cost as much as a new 45" flat screen smart TV. Only to get us to see their office specifically to see an optometrist for glasses (another $99 appointment, separate from Medicare's annual diabetic exam) We are both retired and we cannot afford a $400 pair of glasses every time her vision changes. We opt to get her prescription online, and normally this works perfectly. I get my glasses this way (when I lose mine, which happens) and I have gotten pretty good at making sure that I get the right set up. If this is somehow a major offense that warrants putting my wife through hell by not allowing her to see, then someone should have said something right up front. We are discontinuing their services immediately, and possibly reporting them to medicare read more

I have ordered multiple glasses through this company. Every time I go in, the front desk is so welcoming and will answer all my questions. We all know that finding the right glasses for you can be a challenge, but the staff here are supportive and encouraging during the process. i have gone here for a few years. then i started seeing a film on my eye so i went in to have it checked. when you check in they ask you if you want to bill vision or medical. THE PATIENT IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHEN TO DO EACH?!? I initialed vision, as it is my EYE, but according to them I should have said medical. I was forced to pay for the visit - $250. No discount or insurance used even though I have full medical insurance. These people are polite, yes - but clearly don't care about doing the right thing for their patients. I will not return. Additionally, the doctor this time went on and on about how smart he is - yet he couldn't' tell me I needed a YAG procedure to clear my eye film? Not so smart - I went elsewhere (which was covered!) and got the care I needed! DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Neahring annually for 20 years. We happen to get along. I have had no problem with the scheduling staff nor excessive waits for my examination. Dr. Neahring did my cataract and astigmatism surgery with a fine outcome and as a diagnostician and surgeon I have complete confidence in him. Because of my astigmatism, Dr. Neahring recommended a custom lens for my left eye. That was $1K extra and in such cases the patient always wonders if he is being gamed. But that lens has consistently delivered better vision than the lens in the right eye. As further evidence of the integrity of this clinic, after the passage of several months a three-figure overpayment which I had no inkling I had made was returned to me. Seniors will remember when an M.D. would do the entire examination, including determining refraction for eyeglasses. That is no longer reality. The doctor now examines you for the usual eye health issues and in this specialty his presence may be as short as five minutes. For everything else, you are going to be dealing with a technician. Expect change. The staff and office culture seemed strikingly different my last annual checkup---looked like a smaller payroll. Many clinicians I deal with have in the past few years seemed more frazzled and irritable. I suspect there is financial strain in the industry. I do not purchase my eyeglasses here---I buy them online---and when I ask for the prescription I notice the staff are huffy about that now. read more

I really struggle with giving a poor review. I want to like places and think I'm super understanding having worked in customer service for years and with health insurance even longer given chronic health issues. The customer service was really good to be honest! I was able to crack jokes and have fun. My issue is that I was blindsided with an undisclosed fee after getting back to the appointment room. I have Medicare and did a lot of research into what benefits were offered with my CCO. I made an appointment a handful of weeks ago where I explained I was looking for contacts and they verified my insurance. There was no disclosure of direct costs. When I checked in, no disclosure of additional costs. It wasn't until the tech, who was super sweet, was talking to me after I waited in the exam room for a half hour that it was disclosed that there was a rather high fee for contact lenses fitting. For most folks it wouldn't be an issue but since I'm disabled and have other health and living expenses it's something I couldn't afford because I didn't account for it in my budget. It's not fair to blindside folks who have public healthcare while in the exam room with fees. Not everyone is able to say no and stay firm with their boundaries. This is a super poor business practice that forces people into paying for things they may not be able to afford. I'm sorry Eye Care Physicians but this is a practice you need to address and develops a method of disclosing costs at the making of the appointment so your customers can make informed decisions. read more

The doctor who did my eye exam was rude and arrogant. I specifically told him I need glasses to work on my computer. I went to pick out the glasses and was quoted a $400 price after insurance for the glasses needed. Of course I can not afford that so she suggested the cheaper ones. I went with those and they are worthless for the computer. They are bi-focals which is exactly what I didn't want. eye direct is a great online store to buy the same exact $500 glasses that you receive at this office. My insurance paid for all $150.00 of what you people consider better glasses. They are way better than the ones I received from you both in quality and price. read more

AWFUL PLACE. My terminal father was basically in no position physically to have the eye surgery they suggested. No surprise when I took him to his surgery and they could not do it ( I told them several times and questioned them- fell on deaf ears) So to add ultimate insult to injury they decide to bill us for the anesthesia THEY NEVER USED for a surgery they had NO business doing on a dying man. I have been a patient for years. On my last visit my doctor did all my testing, the exam and gave me a prescription for new glasses. Being disabled and very low income it took me a few months to be able to afford my glasses. When I did get my glasses I found out the prescription was not correct and Eye Care will not correct my prescription unless I pay again. So not only they charged my insurance for tests and an exam that was only done part way, I now have a pair of glasses that cost me my own personal money that is useless. Because they used my insurance benefits I now can't use them again. I am also out the money I paid for the glasses which I could have used for other things I need, like medical equipment. edit: I forgot to mention when I went in to talk to them they just blamed me for getting the wrong prescription. Parking stinks, which I suppose should be expected for downtown, but it is something to be noted. My husband, toddler and I had to parking over the river and through the woods. Now we're here for a 10am apt, and it's almost 11. They said there are still 2 people ahead of us. I'm pretty annoyed that we got here on time, and have been sitting here for an hour, and probably will continue to sit here for another 30-60 minutes before we even get into a room. I'm really hoping the visit with the doctor is a more positive experience because so far, we're very unimpressed. read more

Pros: Easy scheduling Cons: For starters, the doctors don't perform the exam at Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons. Both times I have seen "the eye doctor" have resulted in techs or assistants performing the actual eye exam, with the doctor popping in at the last second to sign off on the work. Naturally, I was billed at the doctor rate. So a "comprehensive eye exam", which takes perhaps 10 minutes, is $180, of which maybe 2 minutes is spent seeing an actual doctor. Yes, it is a total ripoff. Adding insult to injury, these "doctors" could not get my prescription right. I gave them two chances, and they never came close, which resulted in extensive delays having new glasses made. Also, the whole point of me choosing to do business with Eye Care was so an ophthalmologist could tell me why my right eye occasionally had allergy-like problems. Dr. Warner looked at my eye for a few seconds and said he couldn't see anything wrong so I was told to "use allergy drops." Except that wasn't the problem -- the optometrist at Costco correctly diagnosed an extreme dry eye condition that literally doesn't produce tears or oil, and recommended I use three different products to re-stimulate those right-eye glands, which is working. Save yourself time and money by going somewhere else for your eye care because all these people care about is your money. read more

Eyecare and Optic 49 are hard to beat. I love them. In the past few years my eye site has changed from what it was when I was in high school. They say that comes with age. Ha! I now have progressive lenses. Go figure. The staff, the Doc, Dr Bob, and the gang in Optic 49, Lisa Yde and staff, helped me adjust to my new "friends" and continue to follow up with how I'm doing, months later. Service is very important to me and these guys excel at it! I always feel like part of the family when I'm there and appreciate everything. Thank you guys!! read more

Far from quality care. Shocked by the level of disrespect. As a new patient, who has never needed glasses before, I went in for a prescription check where they dilated my eyes. That was it. However, instead of my vision, they billed my medical insurance over $300. (which was not covered) I called to ask questions about my bill an why my vision wasn't used and spoke with Terri. Within moments of speaking with her I felt like it was pointless for me to raise concern. Regardless of the questions I asked, she repeated multiple times, making it a point to express her frustration,a and how she wasn't in the room with me. No guidance on what my options were or where I could get help. The level of cruel sarcasm and snide remarks she was making to me made me feel foolish and judged. I have never met or spoke with this lady in my life and I was shocked by how she was treating me. I specifically asked for a call back after my visit was reviewed. I received a letter in the mail, again, stating the chart notes that were made are reason to bill my medical. Attached was a copy of my signature stating I am responsible for any amount not covered by insurance. Highly recommend you take your care elsewhere. I finally got the extremely rude receptonist to call and actually talk to a representative, and low and behold I did have insurance and I have a discount plan for my exam and contacts. The exam was fine, but I also had a similar expereince with waiting around an hour to finally be seen by the doctor, not just the exam nurse. I was going to purchase contacts and glasses, but I ended up just purchasing the contacts because I waited in the eye glass area for about 20 mins and nobody even acknowledged that I was there. I was really disappointed with how rude and unprofessional they were. At any rate, I had a small balance that my insurance didn't cover and when I called in to pay it the staff member I dealt with then was also very rude. Not impressed with this place. read more

One of the most negative experiences ever. Encouraged us to purchase glasses and told us we would be covered. Two years later we get a bill saying we owed them. Called them up and they basically said "sorry, not our problem". Discontinued us as clients and sent the bill to collection with no forewarning. As if we'd ever go back.... Terrible. This clinic gives you an impersonal feeling as a patient. They pack the appointments together which leads to a lot of waiting. I was brought back to the exam room, 40 minutes after my appt time. The technician was very friendly and so was the doctor ( although the doctor was in the room for not more than 2 minutes). The receptionists were hit or miss. Upon arriving, the first was very friendly but my experience with the second lady, rubbed me the wrong way. Rude and unfriendly. I was considering this clinic for Lasik but they are off my list, unprofessionally operated, I will take my business elsewhere. read more
