They ask you for your social security number! Ahh NO Hippa regulations which can be looked up easily tell you doctors do not need your social security number of which I told her I am not giving that to you and she got very rude and raised her voice saying she needs this to look me up in the system, which Is NOT true and as I continued to tell her that what she is saying is in violation of HIPPa she THEN asks me for my insurance ID, well you can use that she said do you have one? Yes, well EVERYONE who uses insurance has an ID and she should only be asking for that number to begin with. She was very rude and argumentative. Bye bye lots of places to get an eye examination that don't want your social security information! I couldn't help but feel like he was bored or that I was wasting his time. Otherwise, Chris and the rest of the EOB staff were really helpful and friendly. AND I got my glasses in 30 minutes. I visited Eyes on Broadway for the first time and I had a fantastic experience. Their new store is great, everyone there is super nice and knowledgeable. I had a great exam and Dr. Kuzukyan. He caught something with my contacts that years ago at another place had been done wrong and I've not been seeing the best I could have been. Their store is pretty big compared to other places, so in Covid times, you're not on top of other people. And the eye exam room feels like a doctors office. I just arrived in NYC a few weeks ago and was in desperate need of replacing my six year old frames. After visiting 10/10 Optical, MOSCOTS, and a hand full of chain locations, I wound up here. Selection is diverse, from understated frames to the biliously ostentatious. I wound up with a pair of Armani frames priced in the low-$200s that took some adjusting to get used to, but now I love them. Lens-wise, I am convinced that this place has the best prices possible. On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of terrible eyesight, I'm around a 7 point Ray Charles so I was expecting to pay a hefty sum. Not so. The price was less than that of my hometown optometrist in Rochester, NY and included anti-reflective and anti-scratch coatings. The service was friendly, extremely helpful, and had a nice casual/polite feel and the turnaround was only three days, which was over a Sunday. read more

This is the only place that I'll go to get glasses in the city! About a year ago, I figured it was time to grow up and throw out my Costco glasses and get a real pair. I headed to Eyes on Broadway (because it's close to where I work) and they helped me find exactly what I wanted! I knew that I wanted something new, but wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. The sales person was able to reccomend frames that fit well with my face type, and showed me things that I would never pick out myself, but ended up looking great! I finally settled on a pair, and because I didn't have the money right then and there, they allowed me to put the glasses on lay away. Now, I'm the type of person who generally lives paycheck to paycheck, so it took a little while to save up the money, but they were perfectly happy to work with me, and held onto the glasses for me until I had all the money. The person who gave me my eye exam was friendly and professional, and my lenses were put into my frames in no time at all. I walked out happy with both the experience and my new glasses. While at work nearby, I looked on Yelp to see which local Opticians would be able to fit me for frames to get myself a pair of glasses within the week. When I found the Great reviews Barry's previous clients left, I had to check this guy out, especially since he was only two blocks away. I walked in and was shocked with the 5 minute conversation. I've been wearing glasses for over 15 years and I believe I've seen all when it comes to opticians. Stores trying to push $10 Chinese frames for $400, taking wrong PD measurements, mixing up left-right lenses, putting on incorrectly centered lenses and charging $150 for $20 no name glass that you wouldn't put on your windows. My glasses is the only thing that I don't compromise. Being glasses user and a computer guy, I read a lot and I want the best glass on my eyeglasses. My thought about NYC opticians was that they're all about money making and rushing people as fast as they can, until I walked into Eyes on Broadway. My experience here was more than I ever asked for. I was greeted warmly and given enough time and personal space to look at the frames. I don't like to be bothered and pushed by people as soon as I walk into a store, so Eyes on Broadway immediately started generating (+) points. I looked around and wanted to see a couple of frames. Barry was kind enough to let me try all the frames I like, he went into his drawers and showed me very similar and tasteful alternatives in the shapes and styles that I was looking for. I gave him a price range and all the frames he showed me were between or below my range. It looks like a small shop but I was very surprised to see all the brands and models they carried. I was very happy to see that they carried brands like Bevel; one piece titanium frame with no screws, bolts or hinges. On top of that, Barry knew what he was talking about. One man can only talk this much about technical specs and materials of "a frame". I made my choice and inquired about the lenses. I'm a Zeiss user and when I said "Zeiss", instead of "Oh we can order that for you", Barry immediately asked me if I was interested in Pure Coat versions or the Gunnar series since I had told him that I worked in front of a computer all day. As the conversation progressed, I was overwhelmed with the options he recommended. He knew about all of the optical lens technologies and coatings, he was accurate and to the point all the time. I also had an eye exam at their location with Dr. Louis. He was very polite and had a very positive attitude. He briefly explained every step as he proceeded. I also was very surprised to get an intraocular pressure test as a part of their "regular" eye exam. Very thorough and professional eye exam. After the eye exam, my glasses were ordered with my specs on the glass that I chose. I stopped by to receive my new glasses next morning, since it was already late in the evening. I've been wearing my new glasses for almost 3 months now and I can't be happier. I'm giving Eyes on Broadway a very solid 10/10 for their excellent quality of service and professionalism. It's really hard to find businesses like this that still sticks to the "service" tradition nowadays. I will be visiting them again very shortly for another rimless pair with Zeiss Individual lenses for weekend use. Take my word for it and go to Eyes on Broadway with your eyes closed. The doctor is great but the staff is beyond rude. One woman hung up on me and when I called back immediately after, I explained the situation to her colleague "Barry" who told me that things happen. I work in customer service and could never imagine interacting with clients like this. There's never an excuse to act like that and I wasn't even being unreasonable. Just wanted to say THANK YOU BARRY! I'll have to admit that this guy has been going above and beyond the past few months in helping us get our glasses order fixed. He's been in consistent contact with the insurance company, and always calls us with updates. Although it's taken a while for us to get results, we definitely appreciate all of his hard work in trying to make us happy. Had a clear idea of what I was looking for and when I arrived at Eyes on Broadway I was very surprised at how large their selection was. They helped me look at the frames that fit the shape in what I was looking for. Easily looked at 10-15 pairs and they kept pulling options until I said I love these two. Exceptional service. Great selection. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff (mostly). I have come here on 2 occasions. The first time was to buy my boyfriend a pair of sunglasses. We had looked in several of the chain stores and finally bought a pair here because of the good price (Ray-ban aviators). The second time was most recently to buy myself a pair of prescription glasses. I had gone to 7 different optical stores, and was extremely concerned when all 7 stores provided me different information about how much my insurance covered for the exam/frames/lenses. I ended up getting an exam at a different store and am extremely upset because I was charged $50, when in fact my insurance covers 100% of the costs. When I finally came to Eyes on Broadway - right away they printed out a copy of my insurance coverage and went over it with me describing the different benefits and costs. They were very upfront and honest about how much my insurance covered (unlike the other 7 stores). The staff never tried to up-sell me on more expensive frames, and I was very happy with their help in selecting a shape that worked for me. Although the store isn't very big and they have limited frames, they have a great range of prices, brands, and styles. The staff was also very helpful about the different types of lenses and what would be best for me (again - not trying to up-sell me, but were very honest) The BEST PART was when I picked up frames/lenses 3 days later and tried them on, they prescription seemed too strong. After telling them I had received my exam elsewhere, they were extremely helpful and said that if I was still having issues with the strength of the prescription in a few days, I can come back and Eyes on Broadway would do another exam and help me get the correct prescription (for free). Amazing service and very kind of them to help me! I am going to go here for all my eye care needs. Their prices are very fair and the service is unbeatable. (One staff member is particular always seemed a little grumpy, but if you see her, be patient and try to get another staff member to help you - don't leave!) read more

This place is the ABSOLUTE WORST. NO STARS. Avoid like the 11th plague. The smell in the place should tell you something as soon as you walk in. And they are liars. I am going to sue them. They incorrectly made my progressive lenses & then refused to fix them when my eye surgeon indicated they were off. They hounded my doctor, who refused to get into a fight with them. When I took the Eyes on Broadway glasses to Dr. Gary Tracy on the Upper West Side, where I had wonderful progressive glasses made for me previously, they also found that the EoB glasses were made incorrectly. I am currently fighting to have American Express get my money back - or else it's off to small claims court. My boyfriend has also had problems with the glasses that EoB made for him. read more

Friendly, professional staff and I appreciate the personalized customer service. I DID feel a bit pressured to keep adding features to my lenses; they tend to try to up-sale you there more than they push the frames, insisting you'll 'need' this or that or that you'd better get the non-scratch, polarized, invisible lined this or that.... I get it, that's their job and that's how they make their money, but sometimes when a customer states that they already have another paid of glasses and that they just want a simple inexpensive second pair...they really mean it. But hey, I ended up getting some of what they were pushing anyway so I suppose they're good at their job. Just be firm with what you want and push-back, even when the sales lady starts opening her books and trying to show you comparisons. Still, friendly people, friendly, quick service and you can't beat that. Such a better experience than Cohen's Optical! read more

I called to schedule an appointment yesterday and was told by a receptionist that she would call back later in the afternoon to schedule an appointment. Never got a call. Called again today and the woman at the Broadway location told me they had appointments on the 13th and 15th (she was unaware today was the 13th). I said OK, but she would not schedule me unless I scheduled a glasses fitting as well. When I told her I had had LASIK and would not be needing glasses she refused to schedule me. I called back twice to ask to speak to her manager and she hung up on me, twice. The receptionist is extremely unprofessional. read more

But, it had been a while since my last eye exam, so Dr. Kay gave me a comprehensive exam right then and there. I want to start this review by saying that Dr. Arno Kuzukyan was a good eye doctor. He was able to efficiently evaluate my vision and recommend the right contact prescription for me. Additionally the staff at Eyes on Broadway easy to work with. That said, Dr. Kuzukyan was both rude and impatient. At the conclusion of my appointment, when a staff member gave me a printout of my prescription, I asked Dr. Kuzukyan to sign my prescription form. Dr. Kuzukyan refused without explanation. I mentioned to the doctor that I had been unable to purchase contacts in the past without a signed prescription, and asked the doctor once more for his assistance. Dr. Kuzukyan proceeded to yell at me, telling me to go home, that I was done here, that I was being an inconvenience to him. I asked kindly once more time why I no longer needed his signature to validate the prescription, and he boasted that he had been an optometrist since before I was born, before finally informing me that the prescriptions were fulfilled electronically now. At that point he turned his back and simply walked away. I understand that I was incorrect in seeking for a signature on an eye prescription, but I have never felt more belittled and more demeaned by a doctor than Dr. Kuzukyan. Dr. Kuzukyan, if you have the chance to read this, I want to say this. I've seen many doctors in New York, and nearly all of them have been compassionate and patient in helping me and explaining the system to me. I hope you can show that same level of compassion I've received from other NY doctors to your next client. For now, if you're looking to get an eye exam, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. read more

The first time I walked into Eyes on Broadway, I had a less than pleasant encounter with their front of house associate. I finally got the service I requested after a lengthy argument, and the end result were perfect new lenses ready for me the next day. Since i used my insurance at Eyes on Broadway for this service, I received a discount through my carrier for any out-of-pocket expenses if I went back to them another time. So despite my reservations, I patronized them once more, this time to get another set of prescription lenses put into a brand-new pair of sunglasses. I did not interact with the same person, thank goodness, and the gentleman who helped me was wonderful, he explained to me all of the expenses and described to me the different types of lenses that would work for my frames. He also gave me a wonderful discount, and the frames were ready to be picked up in just two short days. So much more convenient than waiting a week or more like at other places. They even remembered my account information and already had my prescription on file, so I was able to dash in and out quickly while on a brief lunch break. When I picked up my frames, another store associate took extra initiative and tightened them for me on the spot, so they fit my face perfectly. Now I have stylish sunglasses for summer that actually help me see clearly! The polarized lenses were totally worth it, too, and I predict that I will be able to do a ton of beach reading with them over the summer. Their courteous service, efficiency, and attention to detail more than made up for my previous unfortunate initial experience. It felt great to be treated so well and with respect. Had a great time picking out glasses at Eyes on Broadway. I have been wearing glasses for 25 years, and my prescription is pretty bad (double digit negative). The large selection, plus the ability to add nose-pads to any pair, made it easy to find several frames. Several of the staff chimed in to help me choose the best pair to minimize the thickness of the lenses and look good on my small face. They double- and triple-checked the insurance coverage to make sure I wasn't paying more than necessary. I just picked up my glasses and am extremely pleased: these are the thinnest glasses I've ever had and they look great on me. While choosing my frames during my first visit, a couple of people stopped in to pick up glasses that they had dropped off to be repaired and they voiced equally enthusiastic praise about the quality of the repairs. read more

I was about to go on a ski trip and realized I was almost out of contact lenses at the last minute. I came in late as they were closing and they could not have been more accommodating. The doctor was patient throughout the eye exam and showed me that I had been living with an incorrect prescription in my contact lenses (I thought I just didn't like contacts). Just reiterating what everyone else has said: Barry is great. He knows his stuff, and unlike many opticians in NYC, he doesn't push you for sales. I told him I lost my vision insurance, and he was so nice about it and totally understood why I hadn't had an eye exam in so long. He's given me a few free contact samples when I ran out, which were lifesavers. As for the ophthalmologists, I've had exams with a couple different ones. Both had good bed side manner, and they get straight to the point. They also give me suggestions on new products, but don't try to push anything unless you're interested. When I told the last Doctor that my eyes are becoming really dry, he gave me a specific contact cleanser, and pretty much told me it'll preserve my contacts even longer than 2 weeks, and it'll help my dry eyes....and it did. Even though purchasing contacts through them is a tad more expensive than 1-800-contacts or some other vendor, I think the customer service trumps a few extra bucks. read more
