I've been to the two other Myoptic eye places. This one is just as good. I've had the same doctor for the last 5 years at Myoptic. I have no compalints. They treat me very well and make good recommendations on eye health. The eye glass collection is decent. I'm a collector so I purchase my frames direct from designer. At my recent eye exam at Myoptic, I was given a new prescription. But the new lenses made me see double (literally). They tried to gaslight me that seeing double was normal and I just needed to get used to the new prescription - yes, really, they actually said this. Then when I complained again a week later - because I was seeing double! - they tried to blame it in the lenses and not the new prescription they prescribed. Finally, they had a different doctor examine me and she gave a different prescription. Even then, no one ever admitted they were wrong and only offered the meekest of apologies and never offered anything to try to make up for the 4 trips I had to take to their office due to their mistakes. Just plain awful service. And also dangerous to suggest to someone to just suck it up and wear lenses that makes them see double. read more

I have been a client for years at Myoptic clinics. The staff is polite and friendly. The doctors have been very helpful and spotted a potentially problematic vision problem for me. I have no problem with that end of things. However, how I ever made an appointment in the past is a mystery to me. This year while trying to make an appointment I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to enter my birthday. It took me a long time to get to 2015 let alone get close to my birth year. (I am a baby boomer .). I finally gave up after two sessions and booked with Eyes on Broadway. My husband had a similar experience and also booked elsewhere. I did call but did not receive a response. I guess old people should go elsewhere. Noted and passing it on. read more

As far as someone having reached out to me to resolve this I received one phone call the day I left my initial review from the doctor who provided me with an exam. The call ended with a request for a refund for the service and the doctor stating that she would contact the manager. I've never heard from anyone from this business since. I posted a follow up review several days ago in regards to how do I contact the owner and no response has been provided. I do not want to call the clinic I went to for my appt as I don't care to speak to this doctor again. Again, I do not recommend this business. read more

By far one of my favorite businesses in Portland. I am so grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and care they provide. I was a customer of theirs before Covid hit. I always really loved them (and their witty signs about inclusivity are so awesome), but I was really relieved to see how well they sanitized everything and the care they took to keep everyone safe. Most people have moved on from protocols, and I was very nervous about going to an optometrist while I am still being Covid consious. I was amazed at how kind and accommodating they were. Plus, they gave me one of the best exams I've ever had with the most wonderful selection of frames. I am a customer for life. read more

Dr. Pak is a fantastic Optometrist with great customer service skills. Personally I find their glasses options a bit more on the luxury/premium side of things than I can afford even with VSP and a $150 frame allowance, but I always at least get my prescriptions done here because they are great at nailing down my Rx. read more

I took my prescription to Myoptic on November 14, 2024. They called me around the middle of December to tell me my glasses were ready. I went in to get them and I could not see well through them. They took a measurement and told me that the lens maker had made a mistake, that they would have the mistake corrected and call me when they were ready. They did not call me and around the middle of January I called the and was told that my glasses were there and ready to pick up. There was no explanation for their failure to call me. I went in again and tried the glasses on. Again I could not see well. They took measurements again and said the manufacturer did not manufacture the lens correctly. They again said they would have the mistake corrected and call me when the glasses are ready. It is now February 23 ( 101 days since I took the prescription in) and they have not called me. I would advise anyone who is thinking about using this company to take their business elsewhere. Taylor P. read more

I recently went in for eye exams and contact lens fitting. Dr. Pak was super friendly and easygoing, as well as other employees who helped me during the visit. They have one of those fancy machines to auto capture images of the back of the eyeballs without having to dilute the eyes - which is a super convenient (and less suffering) solution to get the results right away and easy, without having an impact on your sight (ability to drive or function at all). Make sure you book this service! Because I also did contact lens fitting, they gave me a few samples to test for a week, and come back the next week to finalize the prescription for contacts (glasses prescription was given right away in first visit). It's a bit hassle to have to come in again, but I full heartedly think it's a good practice to give it some trial time for my own eyeballs sake. So I happily revisited a week later and got my final prescription for contacts. Overall, it was a great experience. Friendly people, nice environment, clear communication. Good neighborhood business for neighborhood people. All good things I love. I am sure I will be back to check out their new frames here and there. read more

Metta totally saved my experience. I had forgotten their lunch closure, which I support for employee life quality but, I had only remembered when a road closure meant I had to use google maps and the app reminded me. I don't have the time to go because of work and kids and really had only one hour this week and this was it. I decided to check anyway because I really needed my glasses and was almost there anyway and she was there eating her lunch but happy to help me. I'm not usually one to leave a negative review, but then again, a usual bad experience at an establishment comes at the cost of a cup of coffee, or a sandwich. This is an establishment selling eyeglasses and contacts. Like another reviewer below, I also ordered new lenses for eyeglasses after an exam on 12/13/2022. I also got contacts. During a follow up visit for the contact consulting, also about five weeks later, 01/24/2023, I asked what the status on my lenses was. I was told they would check and get back to me. The next day, I received a text that read: "Hi! We tracked down the status of your lenses and it looks like the order was routed to a different lab that we don't typically work with. They cancelled the job but we have re-ordered it with the correct lab. We do apologize for the mistake and additional delay. Please know that we are prioritizing this job and we'll let you know as soon as its ready for that edge down appointment. Thank you for your patience!" Fair enough. Mistakes happen, we're still dealing with both Covid supply chains and staffing issues. Fast forward to today. I realize while putting in my contacts that I never got a call about my new lenses for my glasses. I quickly wrote out an email that was more inquisitive than annoyed and figured they would get back to me quickly. Later in the day, I checked my email. No reply. I placed the first of seven calls to them. I also checked their website to see it they mentioned anything about taking a bit to respond to email due to staffing/location being busy/etc. No, but there was a "Text us!" Option. I texted them, (which was the same number they texted me from prior), and asked about my lenses. As I was leaving work, I hadn't received a reply to either my email or my text. I called them a few more times while finishing up at work, and before leaving work, decided to call the sellwood store. There, someone answered the phone. They told me my lenses were done, but not how long they had been sitting at the lab. (They were re-ordered 1/25, so almost two months at this point). The person I spoke to at sellwood was pleasant and helpful, and seemed like they knew more than they were letting on. I was told they would communicate this to the manager of the Burnside location. It's not a good feeling to spend that much money for progressive lenses, and pay for them up front, and have your insurance billed for them (and order your contact lenses from them even though I could have gotten them cheaper online, I wanted to support a local business that I could call if I had issues. Not the Burnside location, seven phone calls and no answer) and then get forgotten about twice. Once is understandable, we're still all trying to figure out this "back to normal" thing. Twice really does a number on your self esteem, not to mention that I'm dealing with some other health issues that may cause my vision to change in the next year again, which means this prescription may end up costing my more in the long run due my vision possibly changing and me now only possibly getting nine months of usage out of these glasses. I would like to state that most everyone in the Burnside location was warm and personable except for one employee who was always cold and distant, and the optometrist was GREAT. She took the time to explain why my trial contacts were giving me the results I was having and was extremely patient and supportive with helping me settle into the contact prescription that would work for me. I just had my first appointment at Myoptic with Doctor Pak, and she was amazing! This was easily the most comfortable I have ever felt during an eye exam, and the equipment they use is very modern! Far more advanced than my previous eye care place. Dr. Pak really took the time to get to know my medical history, as well as explain things in a way I could understand as opposed to confusing medical jargon. My optometrist was Nick and he was so delightful, he really took the time to help me pick out frames that best complimented my face, and figure out which lenses would work best with my prescription, frames, and my pocketbook. I used to have anxiety about eye appointments, but at Myoptic, my experience was surprisingly fun and relaxing! I highly recommend them! read more

My friend recommended this optometrist to me and I love them! They are very helpful I was able to get me in the same day when allergies were making my eyes leaky and puffy. And wiggle me into a tight schedule before my FSA benefits ran out. They also have a great selection of glasses in an array of conservative and unique styles. They do a very helpful insurance and payment breakdown before you even see the doctor! Even tho their location is not the closest to me, it is very easy to get to being right off Broadway! Parking is a little hard to find depending on the time of day so give yourself time to search and walk. read more

The online appt system is not to be trusted and BEWARE of a STRICT late policy! Twice I booked appointments online and twice I've left their office without being seen. The first time - they moved my appt up 15 mins, and notified me via email (not a phone call or text). When I arrived at the time originally requested online, they informed me that because I was more than 15 mins late I would not be seen that day. OK - fine. It's a busy business, and even though I was annoyed they had moved up my appointment, I did find the email buried in my inbox and chalked it up to my own disorganization. Second try - made another appointment and immediately added the date to my calendar, blocking off travel time because I did not want to fall victim to their late policy again. Arrived there early, and was told that my online request for appointment had been rejected. Again, no call or text prior to this - searched my inbox to find a single email notification (in my promotions folder). I'm beyond annoyed with their online appt system at this point. They are so busy that they book out at least a month in advance, and that's not worth the hassle to me. The burden is on the customer, and that's not right. I'm paying for this service, so, where's the service? I really wanted to like MyOptic - I have been going to them for 3 years and bought a pair of glasses from them before. Since the beginning, I can't shake the feeling that they are generally more annoyed with their customers than grateful for the patronage. So, fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me. I'm taking my business elsewhere and recommend you do the same. read more

Unfortunately the experience here was disappointing. I had picked an available slot at at 5pm however it was switch on me and notified via email. This is very inconvenient since I had marked my work calendar and taken time off early from work expecting it at 5pm otherwise I would not have made the appointment. Why would they offer a slot that they don't have? The online appointment system is not to be trusted and do not plan to get the slot you had picked. Due to COVID, they had additional restrictions, which is quite understandable. In their email they indicate that patients should reschedule if that've "traveled, been at an airport or on an airplane", I read it in the context of traveled through an airport or airplane, otherwise "traveled" could mean anything: to work? to the grocery? to where? Parking around there is atrocious. Ended up wasting both of our time. Only positive side is the front desk lady (mimi?) was courteous. Here's recommendation for improvements: * Make online appointment time slots align with actual available times, it interferes with your customer's planning and leads to poor results * Have all the information needed upfront during sign-up, do not send bunch of emails with walls of text in each of them * Have a cleaner patient in-take, ask yes/no questions and requirements up front instead of expecting us to monitor emails * If there's time changes, send ICS/calendar invites for these time changes. These guys are incredible! My wife and I came in after going years without having an eye exam, not totally knowing what to expect, but each of us had been wanting to get our eyes checked because we both spend a lot of time in front of screens - I am a graphic designer and she is a blogger. It was important for us to find out how we could better care for our eyes and find out how the folks at Myoptic could help with that. The space itself was really cool, modern, well-designed, but not pretentious or feeing like a hospital. The employees chatted with us while we each checked in our info and made us feel comfortable and welcome. The optician Tristan was great! They even offered us a choice of drinks while we waited, which was totally cool. The exam itself was actually a pretty fun process. I could tell Dr. Hibbert is really passionate about what she does because she knew a lot about any of the questions I was asking and was enthusiastic about sharing cool facts. - The whole time we felt like we were with people who cared. Picking out frames was fun too. Tristan had good suggestions and encouraged us to go for the ones that we had felt like we're the most "us". My wife and I ended up getting the same brand without knowing at first! Also, there's some super rad styles they carry too. I decided on a really lightweight and modern pair (my first glasses ever) that didn't make me feel weird or change how I saw myself in the mirror. We just received a hand-written card from Dr. Hibbert thanking us for our visit too, which was a really thoughtful gesture. I wish more places showed the same kind of consideration:) It was an awesome experience and I would definitely tell anybody to go for it if they considered coming for an exam or even just stopping by! Diagnosed with myopia (nearsightedness) in the second grade, I have been in my fair share of Lens Crafters, boutique optometrists, and mom and pop local stores. This shop pretty much blew me away. Probably the most modern, most friendly optometrist I have been to, ever. Here are the three main reasons why: 1. All new eye glass testing equipment. faster and less scary then the stuff I used at the countless other optometrists. machines that almost replace eye drop dilation and that scary air puff machine. I hated those. 2. The widest selection of glasses that fit my nose bridge--don't worry they have something for everyone. They also carry some local Portland brands such as 141 and their own private label brand called 20/10 that are modern, tasteful, locally designed, and at a $99 price point--a bargain. 3. Customer service-Christina, Harrison, and Dr. Allen Kim were all so friendly and upbeat. Dr. Kim was very patient and detailed in answering all my questions, Christina advised me on the best pair of glasses that fit my face, and Harrison was so upbeat in explaining all my options--while I was in late Saturday morning zombie mode. I am definitely coming back here when I get new glasses or contacts. read more

Another great experience at myoptic! Jessica always does such a fabulous job with finding frames that flatter my face while being incredibly stylish. I've gotten countless glasses and two pairs of sunglasses from Jessica and I love them all. She and the other staff were also very helpful with making adjustments when I accidentally laid on my frames and messed them up. Furthermore, when my 9 year old niece went in for her appointment the doctor and staff did a great job making her comfortable and found her some adorable frames. This visit cost 4x as much as expected, and I was not notified of that fact in advance, which was pretty shocking - especially as the office had all of this information at the ready and could have easily provided me with that ahead of time. I know that healthcare is expensive, but expecting one thing and being met with another is never fun. I was also very surprised at the lack of information this office had on my history. The last time I had an eye exam and lens fitting was with THIS CLINIC and the Dr didn't know my prescription or what type of lenses I had been wearing, instead asked me repeatedly for this info. Again, if I had known I needed to bring that with me, I would have. On a personal note, the Dr's bedside manner needs improving. I have been wearing contacts for 20+ years and glasses my whole life and never have I been shamed and lectured during an appt as I was yesterday. This experience was only bad from start to finish. I have only been a patient at Myoptic (Laurelhurst) twice, but they blew me away both times! My first appointment, I was able to get questions answered by email, and everyone was welcoming when I arrived. My second visit? Just the same! I was late and they found a way to make it work, and they all pitched in to help find frames that were complementary to my facial structure. And not just in the "Yeah, sure; that works" way, but in the sense that they scrounged up tons of smaller frames for me to try, and provided opinions. Great staff! The eye exam was quick and painless - I usually have no problems with those, having needed glasses since I was in 2nd grade. Dr. Kim answered all my questions. The hard part is picking out frames. I'm super indecisive and I have an Asian nose, so getting glasses that wouldn't hit my cheeks every time I smile was a big deal. Super awesome gal (I'm so sorry I forgot your name!) with red hair helped me by giving me great recommendations that were funky, had a bit of character, and also within my price point. I ended up with a pair of red frames by 141 that I am totally rockin' all the time. I also got a thank you card in the mail and emails checking up to make sure I'm doing okay! I couldn't have imagined the mess that this company has put me through. Starting with emailed quotes which did not get delivered until multiple attempts, and a misquote without coatings, it continued to get worse. Last fall, I was assured by the salesperson that my rimless lenses would not pose a problem. When the day came in Dec. to place my order, I waited for about 4 weeks for a call. Eventually the staff called, but not for my appt. My measurements which had been done, were not properly recorded. This caused me further delay and had to revisit. I finally got my appt at the Sellwood lab. last weekend. The appt was made in person at the SE 28th location, and I confirmed this by text message the day before. On the morning of the appt, it was abruptly cancelled. Not pleased at all, I rescheduled for today. A 20-30min appt I was told. After 30mins I found that they had not started, but were instead doing practice cuts. After another hour, I was called back to the Sellwood lab. They then informed me that they're not able to mount the lenses. They then suggested that they could order in another pair of lenses to try again. Not kidding. read more
