On October 24 2017, EZ movers picked up furniture from my storage facility. $300 deposit had already been paid. Upon pickup, I paid $1618 which is 75% of the total moving cost from Memphis, TN to Long Beach, Ca. I have receipt and contract for this transaction. They were scheduled to deliver my furniture on November 8, 2017 and $640 (25% remaining balance) was to be paid upon completion. On November 7, 2017 the driver called and asked for more money $400 for unwarranted costs and threatened not to deliver my things. I made a complaint on YELP and BBB site. Because I complained, the company decided not to deliver my furniture unless I gave them $2500 cash or money order. I explained to them multiple times that I could not pay them cash until money was debited back into my account. I used my debit card for this transaction and the money was taken from my account. My boyfriend I moved from Memphis to Long Beach. He ordered the move and I paid for the fee. We were both present on pick up and were present for delivery (if they would have delivered.) I asked the company if they could put me on the contract, but I was told no. Now this company has possession of my belongings despite the contract and receipt of payment. They state they put it in an undisclosed location and are requesting a ransom of $2818. If I pay the $2818 in cash or money order, then they state they will give me an address to pick up my things. I have filed a police report for theft in California and Memphis, TN. read more

My daughter drove a U-Haul from Maine & then used this company to unload truck & go up to a 2nd floor apt in 7/18. Excellent, quick, careful & price was not outrageous. Moving again from Evanston to Skokie & spoke to Aaron, new Sales Manager, at E-Z. He is efficient, outgoing, attentive to details & made recommendations to save money. I would highly recommend this company for your next moving experience. But, please do not wait until the last minute to book an appointment, especially the last couple of days of the month. read more

Kind of shocked by some of these negative reviews. My friend David used EZ Movers to move some furniture from my Lakeview apartment to his Logan Square apartment. It was about 6 large pieces total and the movers were not only early, but had the furniture on their truck within 30 minutes. There was no damage to the furniture or the apartment. All in all, the move took less than 2 hours. It was such an efficient, easy process. And very affordable. My friend said it was the best money he ever spent. We cannot recommend these guys enough!!! We hired EZ-Movers to move approximately 7 minutes down the road. An Antioch to Antioch move. From the time they got there and thru out the move the guy in charge kept telling me I needed to take care of his guys they are working hard, and we are wrapping this and that and boy you have a lot of stuff well bud that's your job and that's why we hired movers. They damaged a large entertainment center and I pointed it out to them, even showing him a picture of the piece prior to the move ( it's pictured in our MLS photos) showing no damage. He totally denied they did it even after showing him the photos. There were several other pieces damaged as well. I filed a claim with EZ-Movers which they in turn denied saying I didn't indicate damage on the bill of lading, which I did type in their tablet that I did incur damage to my entertainment center then I signed the final bill of lading. When reviewing the final emailed receipt my comments were erased and my signature forged. It is not my signature on the bill of lading that was emailed to us. I have sent several emails and phone calls to Marian who was our sales representative to dispute the decision and told her about the fraud and forgery, she and anyone else in the company has failed to respond. It is very very disheartening that a company can get away with such blatant fraud with no recourse. My option is to file a small claim case against them and spend more money. I decided to call EZ Movers for my recent move because I used them for my last move. A couple of years ago I was pleased with the price and efficiency of the move. When I called this time, I was given a fairly reasonable price and told that I could even have 15 free boxes delivered to me personally by the guy helping me with my order. I received a confirmation email that I was to send back to confirm (thankfully I never sent it back to "confirm" the move nor did I make any security deposit) and the guy told me to call him the next day about delivering the boxes. When I called the next day, the guy basically said he was too busy to deliver the boxes and would have to figure out a way to have movers bring them, blah blah blah. He said he'd call back, he never did. I totally understand that when I booked with them this was being done as a COURTESY. However, getting 15 free boxes was definitely a big motivation of mine to go with EZ Movers again. So If I wasn't going to get the boxes, I figured why not go with someone else for about the same price and who has better reviews on Yelp? I was also concerned that in the estimate, they did not take into account the extra fees that might incur for wrapping some of my furniture. Ultimately, I was fearful that I would get nickel and dimed. So I found a different moving company (I'll Yelp about the experience after it happens) that gives you a $100 range in their estimate they draw up and you are guaranteed not to pay any more than that. I also felt better about the customer service I received at this company. When I called to cancel the move with EZ Movers (within a few days of making it and a month before the move date), I was basically interrogated as to why I wasn't using them. I said I was going with another company and thought I could leave it at that. Then I was pressed further and I just responded by saying the other company cost less. That wasn't sufficient to the guy at EZ Movers and he demanded I tell him how much they were charging me ("to see if it was even legit"). I just changed the subject and said I was having friends help me move. He rudely replied, "You should have just said that! I'll cancel the order for you!" and then he hung up. Well I'm going to have to agree with everyone else...this place is pretty bad about giving low estimates and then seriously jacking up the price. I worked with Daniel and he was very nice. In fact everyone seemed really professional there. I ended up not using EZ movers and it was the smartest decision ever. My original estimate was for 1400 dollars but when I received the visual estimate it shot up to over 2000 dollars! 2 things I want to share with you what I learned about moving companies... 1. Never get an estimate on the phone. Have them to send someone out to give you a binding visual estimate. Even if they tell you it's a binding estimate over the phone believe me it's not. 2. You need to realize that they will charge you for everything. For example, larger items that you have not properly covered will be covered by the movers. They will charge you for tape, bubble wrap, shrink wrap etc. They will tell you that the pads are free but believe me the tape to wrap the pads around your item isn't. Buy these items and do it yourself. It will save you a ton of money. I learned all this from talking to the people at EZ Movers. They were very forthcoming about additional charges but it was only when I inquired. The people who are shocked by upcharges on the day of the move simply didn't do enough research. So the moral to the story is Research first then ask as many questions as possible!! Hope this helps! read more

** ANYONE WHO HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH EZ MOVERS PLS CONTACT ME ** I along with many others on here, wish there was a way to give a zero (if not negative) rating. I went with EZ Movers as they were referred to me by a few friends however, I should have done some further research prior to trusting these bunch of scum bags with my personal belongings. I used EZ Movers to move me out of my previous home, store my items in their storage facilities for two months, and move me back out into my new place. Everything seemed to be pretty smooth until I realized that my two PC's along with other electronics had gone missing. The EZ Mover foreman for that day was in awe of the situation himself and though he (along with myself) called it in immediately to claim what had happened... they aren't willing to do anything about it. Long story short, I submitted a claim in the amount of USD $3,600.00 and they came back with a settlement of USD $30.00 - RIDICULOUS With that said, I am pursuing this matter legally and I am determined make this known publicly and to bring them down. Anyone who has had problems with them recently and/or have issues that have not been settled yet, please PM me if interested in joining a Class Action Lawsuit!! ====================================================== Amanda- Me pursuing this legally does not remove the fact that E-Z Movers Inc has committed a crime (as described by the detailed police report you'll receive soon) and that you guys have a HUGE reputation across the web for mishandled customers and specially when it comes down to claims. Additionally, your own foreman admitted to the fact that something was off and I have two witnesses that were present at move-in & move-out that are willing to testify of such when the time comes. I never thought that my personal belongings would go missing however I should have gathered such with the type of personnel you have working for you of which I'm sure half aren't even documented properly. With that in mind, it's also given me the idea to have E-Z Movers and its entire work force audited by the CBP. I wish I had yelped EZ movers before we signed up to move with them! Their estimator quoted us $450 BUT we ended up paying almost $1000 to move a 3 BR apt less than 1mile. A 10-20% change in estimate I can understand, but not 100%!! We were explicitly clear with the estimator too, about the size, volume and # of stairs involved on each side of the move. We would never have used this company had we known there was even a possibility of paying so much. The movers themselves were fine, but the lack of professionalism in purposefully low-balling an estimate to get business in the door is UNACCEPTABLE. read more

I honestly wish I would've read these review before I scheduled my move, but I was in a bind and needed a mover ASAP. By giving them one star I'm being overly generous. This entire process was dismal and awful. First, they scheduled my pick-up, then called me the next day and told me that my pick-up had been moved a week later (because of a scheduling error on their part) which didn't work for me because the person that was down in Florida was leaving to come home. This was their fault, but I had to pay the consequences. We had to change flights and coordinate because of a problem on their end, not mine. The window they gave me was from 2-5pm. Movers didn't show up until 6pm. An hour late. THEN to top if off, when they called me to drop off my things they said they wouldn't leave my boxes unless they received cash or a money order upon delivery... Mind you I had already given them ALL of my credit card authorization information to proceed with the payment, but they only accept cash upon delivery. Brutal. Just terrible. They have ZERO communication skills and they definitely do not go by the philosophy that "the customer is always right". I was wrong, they yelled at me, and I will NEVER EVER EVER work with them ever again. I also hope that people really read the reviews before hiring a moving company such as EZ Movers, because all they want is your money and for you to sign a contract then they don't give a crap about how they treat you or your belongings. read more

If I could rate at a zero this is what Ez-Movers would get.Where do I start. ..after getting tired of searching for moving companies without any hidden costs I stumbled upon ez movers. I spoke with Brian Ross which was extremely pleasant to deal with in the beginning. Nevertheless, I had a small move from Ohio to St. Louis, MO we are talking less than a 1 bedroom apartment. I paid in full $945.56 thinking Brian captured everything. However, on the day of pick-up I realized this company uses misleading tactics to gain business. First, the driver of the semi truck had a very thick accent so it was hard to understand at first. Upon arrival his truck breaks down in front of my condo (embarrassing) and it's just him. He called for a local mover to help him but the guy didn't show up for over an hour. Next, the guy starts to do a manual survey of my things and kept insisting items were not on the bill lading, I was getting super upset because the whole point of me needing movers was due to my king size mattresses, sectionals which included two couches and a huge ottoman with two 55' flat screens so now it appears he was trying to intentionally hike the price. Second, looking at the reviews I see that hiking prices on the move date is this company's specialty. However, this is not even where my complaint lies. I have called the company several times about my delivery date as I sit in my new empty apartment in St . Louis and they refuse to allow me to speak with a superior. Further, representatives continued to transfer me to Brian, the original sales rep. He continued to hang up on me and told me good luck with getting my things!!! Moreover, I filed a complaint via the Chicago BBB and they responded advising they didn't have my address or a delivery date...but I have the paperwork that proves otherwise, the games this company plays. Anger is a word that cannot begin to describe what I feel. Now, I have no choice but to hire an attorney to recover my things! What moving company does this sort of thing? A very shady one. Lastly, I have never encountered a moving company that wants to just keep a customer's belongings like there would not be any legal consquences behind this type of behavior. Hello you're in the business of dealing with personal belongings by contract and when you're deceptive Illinois has a statute that was created just for businesses that conduct themselves in that manner. Not a smart way to operate a business; there is no immunity from litigation when you keep goods that do not belong to you. I have to take responsibility too because I did not see these bad reviews not to mention they are rated B with the BBB because of the number of similar complaints. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, DECEPTIVE PRACTICES AND WILL NOT DELIVER YOUR BELONGINGS. PLUS, HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! Update: Hired an Illinois Law Firm to get my items delivered and they were. PLEASE DON'T! Learn from my mistakes and stay far far away!!!! Long story short -- move from chicago to houston. they picked up on time, they were good about telling me when my move would happen, and got my stuff to houston on time -- thats when the drama began. i knew I would have a long carry fee so i had them estimate it in my original contract -- when driver Uzi came suddenly it wasn't part of the estimate and they wanted an extra 400 bucks. but i was smart -- i had gone to skokie before the move and had them document the long carry fee was included and got a photocopy of the original binding contract. well that contract and $3 would get me a coffee. he basically wouldn't unload my stuff; tried to call the office who put me on hold for 45 min and wouldn't take his call. (maybe on purpose?? they have def run this scam before) i finally paid because i needed my stuff -- and guess what -- they broke my futon. since i used their shitty insurance i would get 60 cents per pound. not worth the aggravation and honestly i don't want their money because they got it scamming some other poor schmuck! i have moved my apartment 5 times in the last 10 years, i know how to pack my stuff and i am very organized about packing and moving. this is my 3rd cross country move and this is the absolute worst experience i have ever had. they keep getting business because idiots like me don't believe the reviews over their sweet talking. give yourself a break and find someone else. no one needs this kind of stress on top of everything else that goes along with moving. read more

I've used EZ movers twice before, with fantastic results. However, this time, I'm beyond displeased. Although the movers were decent (albeit 40 minutes late with no call), they damaged an item that I had paid extra for them to pad (television). After nearly a month and a half, we finally received a letter from the claims department indicating that they'd pay for about 70% of what it costs to replace the item and will not refund the service fee we paid to protect the item. Talk about adding insult to injury. EZ Movers has a long way to go on their customer service end, and for those who've given them good reviews before (I did!), consider my review next time you're shopping for a mover. It only takes one bad experience to change your mind. ------------------ Further, EZ movers will request you sign a RELEASE AGREEMENT that indicates you will not sue them after they've damaged your items. When I added a paragraph amending this agreement, indicating the release will be in effect upon receipt of reimbursement, they would not accept that. I will be going into arbitration with them and reporting to the better business bureau. A complete release of liability with no promise of delivering reimbursement? You're out of your rocker, EZ Movers, and THIS consumer isn't going to just sit back, shrug her shoulders and let you take advantage of others. If this does go to court (a matter that I am discussing with my lawyer), they will find EZ Movers' paperwork for insurance of 30 cents/pound unsatisfactory and unlawful. I don't know who you're represented by, but ethically a contract that is found to be unreasonably unfair is inherently void. All that us, the consumer, wants is for our affairs to be returned to the state they were BEFORE EZ Movers handled the property. Where to begin: Horrible customer service. Piss poor internal communication. Inaccurate price quotes. Deceptive advertisement. Used them to move cross country to San Francisco from Chicago. Price quote and agreement was for door to door delivery. We gave them pickup and drop off locations and they assured us delivery in 15 days or less, no problems. They ended up taking every bit of 15 days and then called us the day of delivery to schedule drop off. Apparently no one bothered to look up the delivery address until the "professional" driver called from outside San Francisco saying he couldn't get to our location and was kind enough to suggest we rent our own truck to meet him outside the city to pick up our belongings. A trained chimp using google maps could have figured this out more quickly and this company needs a serious lesson in logistical planning. The entire time we were being asked to call the office, then call the driver, then call the office, and so on. Do your drivers even work for you? It doesn't seem that you have any idea what one another is saying or what promises are being made on behalf of the company. In the end they managed to hold our belongings hostage for several hundred additional dollars on top of the amount already paid for alleged door to door service. The driver(s) were unprofessional, talked down to us, cursed at us on the phone, and told us that if we did not get out own truck they would leave our things in a storage facility outside the city where we would then pay for storage and pick up fees. Thanks for making our move even more stressful than it already needed be. This is one moving company that failed to deliver. We are glad to only deal with them once. Buyer beware. read more

I've thought about this company for awhile since we used them in September for a move. I've gone back and forth between feeling OK about our move and being horribly displeased. In the end, I'm just overall unhappy with the service we received from EZ Movers and I would never call them again in the future. From the beginning, the customer service I experienced was great. It was easy to secure an appointment and the friendly guy on the phone told me to go buy my own bubble wrap and shrink wrap to help defray costs during the move. I put $100 down to secure our spot and we were set. We had an 11 a.m. appointment time for our move, which gave me the morning to finish packing and cleaning... or so I thought. The movers showed up on August 31 at 9:45 a.m. It seemed like the movers thought this was something to brag about, but it really threw a wrench in my plans and our plans with the occupants of the unit we were moving into. (Yes, we were moving into a place that was still occupied for another 6 hours by the previous tenants). We weren't supposed to show up there until 2 p.m.-ish, and these guys showed up over an hour early. I wasn't ready to show them in and definitely didn't have every single last thing packed, so I started the day a bit angry. I will give these guys credit for one thing: they were super quick. I kind of felt bad that it was super hot and they were moving quicker than anyone else I'd ever seen move furniture and boxes out of an apartment. The "main" guy on the crew sat me down and gave me an 'updated estimate' that was over HALF what I was originally quoted. My original quote was about $600 and he said it would be almost $2000 to move all of our things. I felt really played because he started this estimate talk AFTER his guys started moving things into the truck. It was really awkward, especially if I had said "OK, stop, put everything back" or something like that. Then, the weirdest thing happened: the leader of this crew hinted to me that they would try to move as quickly as possible to keep our final total low. Then he kept talking and talking about how great his crew was. I got the impression he was going to undercharge us so he could get a bigger tip. It was really bizarre and made me uncomfortable. Fast forward a few hours: They successfully moved all of our stuff out of our old apartment and into our new one. Only one item broke, our exercise bike. Kind of annoying, but repairable. Now for the estimate: We paid $1000 when all was said and done, which was much more than we anticipated considering our original quote was $600. The head of the crew didn't even realize we had put $100 down, so I'm glad I said something or we would have overpaid. We tipped what we thought was reasonable, but the whole experience was weird. I will definitely never call E-Z Movers again since the overpayment was outrageous. We were not happy with the service through ez movers. We moved a 1 bedroom apartment with a bed, 1 dresser, and a few pieces of small furniture and about 35 medium sized boxes. When the driver arrived he augmented the quote by over 50% of the original price. I had called the office to have the quote explained to me with no response for close to a week after they loaded our belongings. The driver was pushy, in a hurry and not careful with our belongings. He was in such a hurry to have me sign the paperwork and didn't explain it after increasing the price- he pressured me to sign, and foolishly, I did so. When I mentioned I needed to call the office to verify the amount and costs, he became defensive and upset, not helpful. I asked to see the space used in the truck after they had packed it (to be certain I wasn't being ripped off) and they had conveniently closed it and locked it. The entire job took 2 hours at most of actually moving the belongings. Furthermore, apparently there "long walk" fee if the load or unload is more than a 75 ft walk. I was not forewarned about this. He mentioned that he would waive the fee if I helped carry some of the items out. Myself and the helper mover carried everything- yes, I actually moved my own stuff to avoid being charged $200 extra. I have called the customer service line, and they never called me back, and after 3 calls replied with an email. The company seems to use the tactic of a low price on paper (do not get swindled by the $899 quote!) but increases it upon arrival- have others had this experience too? As i write this review, we still do not have our belongings. It has been 10 days since it was picked up. Spare yourself a nightmare moving experience. They did not hold up I their mission statement whatsoever, or seem concerned about making our moving experience a positive one. If I could review with less than one star, I would. I do not recommend this company. In the future I will not use this company. Don't believe their "coupon". Really need to work on the customer service... :x read more

My first time using this mover and I was very impressed. First of all they were the quickest to reply to my online request. Their quote was EXACTLY right on the money. Truck/Crew arrived right on time, the 4 man crew worked non-stop, fast, and professional. We had 4-5 stops and they were constantly driving the move forward. I could not be more impressed. I am shocked at all the negative reviews on Yelp. They gave me free boxes, and delivered everything as expected. I am very organized about a move and maybe thats why it worked so well. Packed a few boxes, which tacked on some cash, but when they got to Chicago (from Phoenix) - the movers GAVE OUR STUFF to another truck driver who made us pay him another thousand dollars. he said he didn't work for E-Z Movers either, and would not even meet us unless we agreed to give him the money first. It was so awful. So SHADY. *** i've had movers before, and had moves that cost more than i originally thought - no problem! it happens, i understand. but what E-Z movers did was the most dishonest, sleazy, evil thing you could do to someone. THEY TOOK OUR STUFF - AND GAVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO HELD US RANSOM FOR IT. Chicago move June - Unprofessional Actions and Events carried out by movers: The movers (Brian, Victor and Alex) were extremely unprofessional. The below points will offer insight as to why. I'm hoping we will not have to involve the BBB (Better Business Bureau), but I will if necessary. I've used them 3 times in the past, and I'm sorry to see that I, my friends and family will never use ez-movers again! 1. I only gave them a decent review at the end of the move because frankly I was frightened and wanted them to leave ASAP. This was by far the worst move I've ever had. We felt intimidated, disrespected, and scammed. They were acting like thugs and we wanted them gone. 2. Brian H. (the foreman) yelled (very loudly and angrily) at my neighbors to move when his truck was backing up. It's true he was getting frustrated being asked to move, but yelling at my new neighbors "Do you not hear the f#$@ing beeping sound?! That means I'm f$#%ing reversing." This was completely unprofessional, I could see spittle from his mouth as he was yelling at my new neighbors. a. I literally had to "break up" this argument. Just grossly unprofessional. b. I solved this issue by allowing him to move through the front rather than back. This helped to calm down Brian H. c. Brian unprofessionally blamed his "flip-out" on being on the phone with his wife a few minutes ago and hearing his 2 kids crying on the phone. Unacceptable behavior. 3. At the end of the night, the foreman, Brian said around 11pm "Well, this is a lose/lose for me" because he was here late. This was not our fault and was grossly unprofessional. 4. After we grew concerned noticing that only 1 or 2 guys were doing any work at any one time, we noticed they went much slower, as if they were trying to stretch the time to the 7 hour re-estimate. I think this is exactly what they were doing. 5. One mover, Victor, was playing rap music loudly on his speakerphone while we were moving out. I cannot believe this is acceptable behavior from your foreman's point of view. 6. We had cleaning ladies over, one was young and pretty, and I could hear the guys hitting on her....saying things like "Hey, you need any movers?". Just weak and unprofessional behavior. 7. At the end of the night (Julia and I do not smoke), the foreman came back into our new condo to finish paperwork and brought with him a half-burnt unlit cigarette. This stank and was so unprofessional. We were offended by the smell and his brash attitude. 8. Had to argue with Brian to change the charge time from 4:45 to 11:45pm, to 4:45 to 11:15pm. I don't know why this was an issue, the clock said 11:15pm when they finished. 9. Window they gave me was from 1 to 3pm. Movers finally showed up at 4:40pm and only with one person, the other two were still eating. 10. After Brian, the foreman, finished his own bag of chips at our old place, he threw the bag right on the ground in front of my wife. He is lucky I didn't see this. 11. All 3 did nothing but complain all day. I 100% regret buying them all water and tipping each $20. Especially in light of the missing items (see below). 12. I called Brian the foreman about our missing box for help. He was NO help and simply said "I ain't no thief bro". He wasn't helpful at all, which isn't helping his case of innocence here. a. He also then threatened to play my voicemail for his boss (left from before he called me back), which I encouraged him to since I have NOTHING to hide. 13. Brian, the foreman broke a light globe in the hallway and quickly admitted to it. This is one of the very few positive things I can say about our experience. It does go to show how careless they were with the furniture though. Nothing should have been broken, there was enough room. Losses (Items that were moved by the ez-move crew, and did not arrive at the new place): 1. Perfumes 2. Our Jewelry 3. Bose Bluetooth Speaker ($255) 4. Other damages: Antique Dressers, chunks of wood were knocked off. These go back 5 generations in my wife's family. Total value estimate of loss: $2,500.00 Never again, and I'll do anything to prevent this from happening to others! read more

There are already so many negative reviews on this company that I hardly need add another. But I just wanted to say, if they lose something of yours, don't expect to get it back. I used E-Z Movers on my last move (wish I'd known about Yelp then), and in addition to breaking and scratching several pieces of furniture, a window A/C unit went missing. When I called the company to ask about it, the very rude employee told me "We don't have it. Look through your stuff again." No apologies, no offers to help. It was MY problem and I obviously didn't look hard enough. Because, you know, an A/C unit is teeny-tiny and could easily get mixed in with my jewelry or silverware. Simply put, these guys are criminals. Do not use them or you'll find yourself wasting 30 minutes to write a scathing Yelp review a full 3 weeks after your delivery date because you're so mad about how poorly you were treated and have no one else to vent to. It actually boggles my mind that this company is still in business in the great US of A, one of the most consumer-friendly countries on earth. I made the mistake of using EZ Movers for 2 moving jobs this summer -- 1 local, and 1 from New York to Chicago. Upfront their sales reps were very friendly and made for a nice experience. Even though the 2 jobs were completely unrelated, I thought it made sense to use the same company for both since I knew the process, the sales rep, etc. Boy was I mistaken. I very quickly learned that the sales rep, though nice, was actually quite incompetent. He repeatedly mixed up my jobs in every way possible. Pick up addresses, delivery dates, who to contact the day of the pickup, you name it. It was really pretty surreal actually. But that was the least of my worries. During the delivery of my second job the workers suddenly stopped moving the items into my apartment claiming I hadn't yet provided the company with my credit card information. This was a lie since I'd sent the document to my sales rep the night before. Evidently, that wasn't going to help me because the sales rep wasn't yet at the office and they couldn't access his email ("....oh yeah, sorry, [Sales Rep] doesn't get in until 11 on Mondays so we have no way to access the file." They told me I should've known I needed to return the authorization form during business hours and that [ ] comes in late on Mondays. As though I'm the guy's manager or something. After all that, they proceeded to tell me I'd get charged for every minute of time they had to wait for the authorization, even though the mistake was clearly a result of their asinine business practice. Furthermore, the sales rep had quoted me a fixed rate of $250 (2 hours of work) the day before. He said that was to be the cost, no matter what. After the delivery I was pretty horrified to see a credit card charge of $575, implying 4.5 hours of work. This was a) a complete lie since they legitimately only worked for 2.5 hours and b) much more than the price I was quoted. I have filed a "Complaint Form" and after 3 weeks, countless unanswered emails, their Complaint Rep pleading the 5th over the phone, and continuously confusing this job with my other job, I'm yet to receive a credit from them and had to get my credit card company involved. As if that wasn't bad enough, they didn't even assemble my furniture on Job 2 properly (and lost necessary screws) and they messed up my dresser too (....and won't reimburse the damage even though my delivery was technically insured at $0.60 / lb.). My list of complaints is actually longer than this but my therapist (half kidding) told me I need to count to 10 and scream 'serenity now' when negative EZ Movers thoughts begin to ruin my day. Worst customer experience. They will talk nicely until you pay the deposit & confirm your moving with them, then the things change dramatically. Moved from TX to CA, was referred to them by a friend. The pickup persons come and find every possible ways to charge you long carry fee. Also they never arrived on time as told, the driver calls and informs that he would reach at 4pm but shows up at 10:30pm. And the guy marked the delivery date for 2 months later, he mentioned wrong number for the month column in the field!! What a mess!!! At the destination, he called and said will be there at 11:30am, I asked if he can come by one day later & spoke to e-z movers and the response was "it has to be today, can't do it otherwise". On top I paid $450 more than the final quote. I'm glad they brought my things to destination though few Items were damaged & broken. read more

I was a little nervous at first to use this moving company after reading some of the reviews. But I REALLY trusted some friends of mine that recently moved from Chicago to FL and I'm glad I trusted their judgement. They had used them twice (once for an internal Chicago move and then the FL move.) They gave me nothing but reassurance from their moves. The pickup process was fast and no issues. They re-taped a lot of boxes/items that seemed not sturdy (which is helpful because I suck at packing.) They were quick and got their about an hour before the quoted arrival time. The team leader guy was nice/helpful. It took me a few weeks to find an apt in FL but EZ movers had stored my stuff back in Chicago. They quoted me a week when I requested my things to be finally moved. I was really shocked/happy when the driver called me and told me he would be there much sooner. So 2 days vs a week of waiting. I was just excited to have my stuff back. I was worried some things would be missing/broken. Luckily everything was there and only 1 broken drinking glass. Broken more so probably my fault for the horrible packing job. I was happy that the 2 crewmen put my bed together before they left. Not sure if that is part of the plan but was glad they did. It was a hot day for the move so I made sure I sent them off with some ice cold water bottles and gatorade. Also my 42 inch flat screen was perfectly fine (they packaged it for me in Chicago.) That was something I was worried about being broken in the move but it was perfectly fine. I would recommend EZ movers for long distance moves. read more

Worst experience I had ever. I would never recommend this movers to anyone. I feel even 1 star is too much for the experience I had. They delayed delivering my stuffs by 31 days from their committed date. They never mind to call or email to provide update on the status. Its customer duty to call and get the update if needed. While delivery, driver asked me to pay for long carry charge even though I have paid it already to the movers. When I called movers they asked me to pay the driver and they told that they will refund me. But I had to follow for 1 month to get refund. They will assure you that they will pay you for late delivery. But they will never pay you back. Worst customer services. No commitment in the business. Don't believe this guys. Better find someone else. read more

This has been the worst and most traumatic experience of my life. Most of my furniture has been broken or scratched. Lamp shades are useless now bent and indented. Floor lamps destroyed. Shoe racks step ladder missing. Missing sides of the bed base. Broken kitchen appliances. They packed and unpacked! My brand new furniture destroyed I won't recommend them to my worst enemy hope this company goes to hell and beyond! read more

I used them twice. First time we moved, guys were much faster. First time estimate was right on, second time we were charged little extra. I like E-Z movers because you get free boxes ( you can call and pick them up), both times they showed up on time.Guys were nice and they didn't break anything. :) Daniel was the main guy on both occasions, so I would recommend him if you are going to call E-Z movers. read more

The worst company customer service again!!!! I will never recommend nor use their service ever again. My family placed deposit for to moving service. About a week later my husband said we will do something different. I called EZ movers and cancelled my request during which i was told i will get refund within 2 weeks. My experience from booking to the actual move was first rate. I made numerous calls to the coordinator to get quotes and to arrange details to ensure I wanted to book E-Z Movers. They were the lowest priced and had decent Yelp reviews. I had a semi-complicated scenario because I needed to move furniture back and forth between two residences. The 3 movers arrived a few minutes early, which was great because I had elevators reserved in both buildings. They moved the items swiftly and efficiently. We did not get charged extra fees for packing materials. However, we supplied our own shrink wrap as advised on the phone, which was sage advice rather than buying it off their truck. I love a deal and I love great service. I had my expectations exceeded with E-Z Movers. I was pleasantly surprised that they helped the move go very smoothly and efficiently while being careful with all of our items. I would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

This place damaged property in our building during our move. Now, instead of dealing with the issue, the company isn't cooperating & now basically forcing us to have to deal with this personally. Our building is mad with us as much as the company. Customer service from this company is one of the worst that I've ever had to deal with. "0" stars. My move was picked up on 3/3 in Virginia and delivered in Florida on 3/19. Just about every piece of furniture was delivered damaged. They lost a dresser and many boxes/totes were delivered crushed. Although the driver was friendly the company has no pride in a job well done. I cannot believe how a company can load and/or deliver from a truck with items in the condition mine were and be prideful about the job they've done. Ridiculous. Don't use them. read more

Where to begin. A $1900 move from SF to PHX cost me $2800 instead. I think the sales process is full of smoke and mirrors.The pick-up was late and greeted me at my door telling me my move was going to cost $750 more than I was quoted. Not the way I wanted to start the process. Even though I was told at drop off would include unpacking it wasn't the case. The movers got in and got out of my house leaving me with many items the pick-up crew took a part and I was told the drop-off crew would put back together. Not the case at all. This is my third long move and by far the worst experience I had. Only reason I gave two stars and not one is that I received my goods in less than a week. read more

We were not happy with the service through ez movers. We moved a 1 bedroom apartment with a bed, 1 dresser, and a few pieces of small furniture and about 35 medium sized boxes. When the driver arrived he augmented the quote by over 50% of the original price. I had called the office to have the quote explained to me with no response for close to a week after they loaded our belongings. The driver was pushy, in a hurry and not careful with our belongings. He was in such a hurry to have me sign the paperwork and didn't explain it after increasing the price- he pressured me to sign, and foolishly, I did so. When I mentioned I needed to call the office to verify the amount and costs, he became defensive and upset, not helpful. I asked to see the space used in the truck after they had packed it (to be certain I wasn't being ripped off) and they had conveniently closed it and locked it. The entire job took 2 hours at most of actually moving the belongings. Furthermore, apparently there "long walk" fee if the load or unload is more than a 75 ft walk. I was not forewarned about this. He mentioned that he would waive the fee if I helped carry some of the items out. Myself and the helper mover carried everything- yes, I actually moved my own stuff to avoid being charged $200 extra. I have called the customer service line, and they never called me back, and after 3 calls replied with an email. The company seems to use the tactic of a low price on paper (do not get swindled by the $899 quote!) but increases it upon arrival- have others had this experience too? As i write this review, we still do not have our belongings. It has been 10 days since it was picked up. Spare yourself a nightmare moving experience. They did not hold up I their mission statement whatsoever, or seem concerned about making our moving experience a positive one. If I could review with less than one star, I would. We ignored the bad reviews too. E-Z Movers has terrible customer service. They are not worth it. Go with the more expensive company. Trust me. I won't bore anyone with details. Just trust me! Basically, they have 5 billion policies in place that protect them in all situations. There are no policies in place that favor the customer. Takes up to 10 business days to move? Fine. But it's not considered late until the following business day (so if day 10 is on a Friday, it's not late until the following Monday)? That's bullshit. Can't credit us the money we're owed until AFTER the driver comes all the way back to Chicago? Force us to deal with you guys for a week after the move is made? Force us to call YOU and contact YOU and receive no follow-up whatsoever? Such crap. To E-Z: you absolutely need to hire a PR firm. If you currently have one, get another. I suggest you fire leadership and rebrand yourselves with stellar customer service, a MAJOR differentiator in the moving business. Kelly Reed, the customer service rep, may be a wonderful person and a nice lady but she is terrible at just saying "We'll handle that right away. You're right, the policy is bad. Let's credit your account right now." Instead, in response to my BBB complaint, she responded professionally until the last passive aggressive sentence: "...your version of late." She absolutely knows what I'm talking about. Passive aggressiveness isn't lost on me - and by the way, I'm not some bitchy friend - I'm a customer. Not the time for comments like that. Once you establish a reputation of excellent customer service, you could even get away with charging more. Think Comcast/Xfinity. Think Nordstrom. The president didn't respond to one email. If my move was 5 times as expensive, he probably would. You also need a new website. It's horrible. read more

My experience with EZ Movers was....survivable. The movers showed up on time. That was awesome. Contact before the move was excellent too--a 2-hour window, refined to a 1/2 hour window as the the day went on, with the movers showing up 15 minutes into that 1/2 hour timeframe. The people moving me seemed nice, and hardworking...with the possible exception of the foreman guy, who seemed too busy with paperwork. Damage: only one item had slight damage--a very slightly flattened corner of a drawer of a dresser. Unfortunately it was a $2500 dresser...but probably would cost under $100 to fix, therefore cheaper than buying stupid $300 moving insurance with a $500 deductible or whatever. Irritation: The movers were initially refusing to move two of my floor lamps. They said that they would not be responsible for damage. Well of course I had no other way to move them so i think I signed a waiver or something. The lamps were fine. It was just irritating to have to convince them to move the stupid things. I mean, you're movers. I hired you to move stuff. So pack it in some way, and move it. The cost to move ($690) was substantially more than the price quoted to me over the phone ($500 plus materials), but it was an hourly charge and the movers spent time wrapping my wood furniture in bubble wrap, and positioning my furniture in the new place when i got there, so I really can't object. Actually before I called moving companies for quotes, I had predicted it would be about $1000 to move, so I really wasn't too surprised at the end cost. I don't think I could have saved money, without hiring really sloppy movers and getting a lot more damage. Their materials did end up costing money, but it was like $50 or something. The tape itself was about $12.50. Not a big deal. I did have to point out that they were charging me for two clothes boxes that should have been free. This knocked $30 off the price. My brand-new floor ended up getting scratched in a few places. Not horribly. I think I might have been better off paying more and getting really careful movers. But who knows what that would have cost? $2000? And well, it is done. read more

Do yourself a favor, and AVOID this company! They're not even cheaper than the others... I moved from a two bedroom apartment in the West Loop to a two bedroom in the South Loop on 7/5/16. The move took in excess of 5 hours and was anything but easy. The movers arrived at 9 am, elevator reservation started at 10 am. This would give them time to wrap my couch, dining table, 2 TV consoles, 2 beds, chest, night stand and dresser. In the mean time, I packed the closets in the wardrobe boxes I rented from them. There were three guys. It took in excess of an hour for three grown men to wrap the things I listed above and they moved as slowly as they possibly could on purpose (they charge by the hour). To speed things up, I began loading items in my car, which only made them move slower. When we finally reached my new residence, I started unwrapping furniture, even put a bed together (one of the movers carefully attached the head board on it to finish it. Thirty minutes for 4 screws). They did not fill the elevators completely, often sending up nearly empty lifts and leaving my personal belongings in the hallway. I loaded elevators, unloaded elevators and brought things into the apartment alone. In the time that it took me to go downstairs, load up a cart from my car and come back upstairs the movers had only put one lamp, dining room table top (not the legs and chairs) and a comforter set in the elevator. I was walking around sweaty from working so hard to move my things, while these guys were cool as a cucumber. I called this to the attention of the foreman and pointed out that this had been going on ALL DAY. He was polite, and apologetic, but still no improvement. In the end, they left all my boxes in the living room IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER (after wasting practically a day to move me) stacked 4-5 boxes high, with heavy boxes and a 60" TV on top... all for me to organize and move on my own. After their wrapping and reassembly of furniture, my solid wood dining room table is ruined and my highly coveted solid wood TV console is damaged. These guys saw a single woman moving from a decent apartment to another decent apartment and took advantage. For as many phone calls and emails I got from them before the move, I haven't heard a peep from them afterwards. This was the longest and hardest move I've ever had and I injured myself moving things around that supposedly I'd paid them to do. Just steer clear of this company. They are not professional and HIGHLY INEFFICIENT. And you will always pay more than what you are quoted, even though you are told on the phone that you have more than enough time. First off, I read the reviews for EZ movers after hiring them. If I would have read them before I probably wouldn't have called. With that being said, I'm glad that I did not see the reviews until it was too late. My moving experience with EZ Movers was great. The crew showed up 30 minutes early, and had everything finished in 3 and 1/2 hours. No problems what-so-ever. I wanted to address some of the comments made below: The crew is not rude. They are hard working. If they aren't overly friendly or talkative it is because they are lifting and moving all the things you didn't want to do yourself. I did not have a long distance move, so maybe that is why I had a very different experience than others who have posted before me. I cannot give an endorsement for a long distance move b/c that might work very differently. All I know is that EZ Movers quoted me the LOWEST (by hundreds of dollars) out of any moving company in the area. They were polite and efficient. There was not any damage to my property or any stolen items. I would use them again in a heartbeat. And just as a tip for moving, if you are going to get upset when someone breaks something or damages something, then move it yourself. Possibly the reason I had such a wonderful experience w/ EZ Movers is because I packed/moved all that I could on my own. I wasn't relying on them to do EVERYTHING for me. read more

Have had two intracity moves (Evanston-Chicago and Chicago-Chicago) and have been pleased with the service each time. Having researched many places, they are consistently the most reasonably quoted and priced. They even gave me some free materials as a bonus for my second time booking them. Both times the movers were on time, professional, careful with my girlfriend's and my stuff, explanatory of all forms signed, etc. I'd recommend them any time. One downfall is their main office is all the way up in Skokie, so if you want to pick up your free moving package, you've got a hike. read more

RUDE They were late to my move, damaged my furniture, and then even after all of the drama, they decided to LEAVE when their time frame was up and left all my stuff in one room instead of moving it where they were supposed to.
